5 - 3-23 PAIR A DAY IN MAY- CHARLIE PUTH WINNER AND NEW SPIN! by Maine's Coast 93.1
Big Fat Five: A Podcast Financially Supported by Big Fat Snare Drum
This week's guest is Jordan Rose - a Brooklyn-based session drummer who's worked with Theo Katzman, Cory Wong, SZA, Caleb Hawley, Charlie Puth, Pomplamoose, Charlie Hunter and so many other legends. I know I'm a broken record, but I LOVE his feel on the kit and I couldn't wait to get him on the show. He's overcome a lot in his life, including a period of 2 years where he lost hearing in his right ear, but it only made him into a better musician. We also talk about music helped him overcoming his social anxiety (something that I personally struggle with to this day). All in all, Jordan is a gem. I hope you enjoy the 5 records that helped shaped Jordan Rose into the drummer he is today. Cheers! Call / Text Me your picks @ (424) 253-6676 Just state: ⁃ Your name ⁃ Where you're calling from ⁃ A little backstory of yourself as a drummer (whatever you feel comfortable with…but do some self promotion, we all want to support you!) In this episode, John heads to Miloco Studios to catch up with Charlie Puth about how he wrote, recorded and produced the album ‘CHARLIE'. Thinking back to the moments that sparked the initial ideas for each of his songs, Charlie talks us through how he translates the almost fully finished versions from his head to the DAW. From using auto-tune to satisfy his perfect pitch, to the simple chorus tricks he uses to help it all punch. As well as looking back to his early days on YouTube and social media, Charlie discusses how the platforms have evolved and their impact on the way he writes, allowing him to include so many people in his music making process. In this week's very special (re)wind episode, THE IDEALISTS. podcast host and entrepreneur, Melissa Kiguwa, revisits her conversation with Ty Stiklorius, CEO of Friends at Work, a 21st-century management and social impact firm, which handles some of the world's most respected and beloved artists, including John Legend, Lindsey Stirling, Charlie Puth, and the list goes on. Ty also served as Executive Producer on the Oscar-winning film La La Land and won an Emmy for Jesus Christ Superstar Live in Concert on NBC. Billboard named Ty one of the most powerful women in music, and after this conversation, you'll understand why.Ty's Business: https://friendsatwork.com/about/Episode Highlights:- Ty leads off with a story about a manager who wanted to buy her company but opted not to because she values maximizing not just shareholder value, but workers and the planet. It was a moment that crystallized things for her—that because of her roots in Quakerism, because of her perspective, having an MBA from Wharton, and working in consulting—she could do something different.- Next, she discusses the ethos behind her company Friends at Work, and how they function as the CEO for their clients, handling everything from digital strategy to tour planning, to brand strategy, to advertising, to social impact strategy.- Building on that, she discusses what it means to trust your gut, and sense of knowing in the face of veteran managers who might play upon your fears or insecurities when making critical decisions.- Lastly, as part of her inadvertent audacious vision for the world, Ty reads from a first draft of her Real-Life Manifesto, a collaborative document meant to embrace ideals of care, difference, and equity, so everyone comes away with their needs met—in a more hopeful win-win-win scenario.
