Cowboys and cowgirls hold onto your hats because I am joined by the biggest female artist in country music right now, Lainey Wilson. In this episode Lainey reflects on her journey to the top of country music from growing up in a small town in Louisiana where she was a Hannah Montana impersonator (we do our own mini rendition of See You Again - you are welcome!), to moving to Nashville at 19 years old and living in a trailer for three years whilst trying to make it. Now Lainey is a Grammy Award Winner and has six county number ones and you are going to learn so much about the power of self belief in this episode! Lainey joined me ahead of headlining the Country To Country Festival at the 02 Arena and she also opens up about dealing with body shaming online, overcoming misogyny in the male dominated world of country music, and how experiences in her family taught her to look after her mental health. If that wasn't enough to fill you (cowboy) boots with, Lainey also shares some life advice she got from THE Dolly Parton and walks me through the ultimate night out OUT itinerary in Nashville. Pack your bags, we are going and if you love listening to Lainey as much as I did please get in touch with me across socials @joshsmithhosts as I always love hearing from you. Some of her fondest childhood memories involve long afternoons at the library and then reading late into the night. More than ten years ago, she began journaling about the books she read and turned that passion into writing about books. Her first forays were as a guest reviewer on a friend's blog, but she soon realized she wanted to be reviewing and talking about books on a blog of her own. From there, Novel Visits was born. That was in 2016 and, though the learning curve was steep, she loves being a part of the book community. Novel Visits focuses on new novel reviews (print and audio), previews of upcoming releases, and musings on all things bookish.

Hello, darkness, my old friend[^1]. That's what he said as he walked into the office for the first time. I was sitting in the morning sun[^2], feeling a bit out of place in the new environment. He introduced himself with, "This is a story of a girl"[^3], though obviously not about him. We laughed, and I thought, "Once upon a time, not so long ago"[^4], two strangers started their journey. We quickly found common ground. He said, "Come gather 'round people, wherever you roam"[^5]. I nodded and replied, "I was working part-time in a five-and-dime"[^6]. From that day, we became fast friends. He had a way of saying, "Oh, what a night"[^7], no matter how the day went. Every morning, he greeted me with, "It's a beautiful day"[^8]. Together, we faced the corporate grind, believing that with a little help from my friends[^9], we could get through anything. One afternoon, he turned to me and said, "You can't always get what you want"[^10]. We laughed, agreeing that, "Here comes the sun"[^11], always brightened the darkest times. As time passed, we started hanging out after work. He'd often say, "Hey Jude, don't make it bad"[^12], whenever I was down. In return, I'd remind him, "Lean on me, when you're not strong"[^13], and he did. We shared countless memories, from late-night talks to weekend adventures. I remember, "It's been a long day without you, my friend"[^14], when he was on vacation, but we always reconnected like no time had passed. One evening, as we sat by the fire, he said, "If you're lost, you can look and you will find me"[^15]. I smiled and replied, "This will be our year, took a long time to come"[^16]. Our friendship was unbreakable. Years turned into decades, and even as life changed, our bond remained strong. He once said, "We've only just begun to live"[^17], and I knew he was right. In the end, "The love you take is equal to the love you make"[^18]. --- [^1]: The Sound of Silence by Simon & Garfunkel [^2]: Dock of the Bay by Otis Redding [^3]: Absolutely (Story of a Girl) by Nine Days [^4]: Livin' on a Prayer by Bon Jovi [^5]: The Times They Are A-Changin' by Bob Dylan [^6]: Raspberry Beret by Prince [^7]: December, 1963 (Oh, What a Night) by The Four Seasons [^8]: Beautiful Day by U2 [^9]: With a Little Help from My Friends by The Beatles [^10]: You Can't Always Get What You Want by The Rolling Stones [^11]: Here Comes the Sun by The Beatles [^12]: Hey Jude by The Beatles [^13]: Lean on Me by Bill Withers [^14]: See You Again by Wiz Khalifa ft. 收听提示本期节目精选了查理普斯在流媒体平台上几首排位靠前的歌,包括但不限于:《see you again》、《we don't talk anymore 》, 《how long》 , 《oops》 , 《dangerously》 , 《one call away》等。

I'm a bit sad as I prepare this one that just replayed last week on Tales Vinyl Tells. It does have some great music with an opening message that is so appropriate for how I feel doing these shows and turning them into podcasts. That song is Lovely to See You Again by the Moody Blues. And even though I can't really see you on the radio or on the podcast, I feel you there. I can see that you are downloading the podcasts and you send emails telling me where in the world you are. I thank you for that. What I'm really sad about is that we've suffered some serious losses to the grim reaper lately. Losing David Crosby was a lot to handle. Now we've recently lost Randy Meisner, Sinead O'Connor and this week it was notification of Robbie Robertson's death. I'm saluting them soon with music. For now, we can grieve, we can mourn. My lady and I sat and played Scrabble last night and listened to some of the great music that The Band recorded. Just so entertaining! And if you want to see what Robertson did in his life, you should read his obit. Busy guy. Not liked by all his bandmates but someone has to be in charge, and it was him. Enough with the sadness. Today's mix runs from Garfunkel and his then-bud, Rotary Connection, The Morrison boys together again, Ziggy and more. Next week at 5 Central time on RadioFreeNashville.org, it'll be Day 3 of the Peacock with Grand Funk RR, Loggins and Messina and The Rolling Stones! Great music from the 60s and 70s!! Steven J. Horowitz returns to Pop Pantheon to discuss the career of contemporary pop's sexiest studio rat, Charlie Puth. Louie and Steven tackle Charlie's oddball career in pop music, from his rocket into mainstream consciousness singing the saccharine hook on “See You Again” to his personality-less debut album, 2016's 9 Track Mind. They examine the critical reevaluation he received following his criminally underrated sophomore album, 2018's Voice Notes, his latest self-titled album, Charlie Puth (2022), and, finally, rank him in the official Pop Pantheon.

Montez is back for Fast & Furious 6, and she brought some very chaotic energy with her to the podcast. After efforting her way through the worst (or best) Montez Minute yet, we hear her hot take on Fast & Furious 6 and we discuss what pet Dom would have. We learn something wild about "See You Again," plan Joe's funeral, and talk about Rita Ora (and "don't bite the bait") for a while. Montez makes good metaphors and brings up conspiracy theories she can't explain, then shares her thoughts on the Dom/Letty/Elena situation. Joe and Montez put together arguably their worst showing in the Most Dom Moment. We pick future "race starters" and make a plea to add Lady Gaga to the franchise. Montez calls out Jack for being a "grown ass baby." History is made in BDWHAPFY. Email us: family@cageclub.me Visit our Patreon page at patreon.com/2fast2forever. As The Far Middle reaches episode 75, the milestone installment is appropriately dedicated to the greatest Pittsburgh Steeler of all time, “Mean” Joe Greene. The four-time Super Bowl champ is one of the four faces on Nick’s Mount Rushmore of Pittsburgh sports Hall of Famers, which includes prior Far Middle dedications Mario Lemieux in episode 66 and Roberto Clemente in episode 21. Who’s the fourth face? That’s where things get interesting. While no one would ever call Greene soft, the same can’t be said for today’s American work ethic, and the numbers don’t lie. Nick proceeds to discuss attitudes to work and explains the far-reaching ramifications if America’s declining labor participation continues.Another subject on the decline is America’s Strategic Petroleum Reserve, which the Biden administration has drawn down to its lowest level since 1984. And as the president seems to be putting political gain ahead of America’s vital interest with SPR drawdowns, Nick addresses billionaire Michael Bloomberg taking similarly destructible action. Specifically, Bloomberg announcing $85 million to stop petrochemical projects in Ohio, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia—thereby destroying opportunities for doers. While Bloomberg attempts to be a barrier to an expanded middle class, you may not have heard the latest from the Australian Institute for Marine Science which reports the Great Barrier Reef is enjoying record levels of coral cover. If you missed this, it’s because no one told you, as it doesn’t serve the code red for humanity storyline, explains Nick.Next, Nick looks at China’s recent coal investments and increasing CO2 emissions. Adding insult to injury, Nick notes that much of China’s coal-fired power and coal mine additions will be used to power its factories and facilities to extract, refine, or make the various feedstocks and components for wind turbines, solar panels, and electric vehicles that the West is mandating.Shifting from Chinese energy policy, Nick returns to a recurring Far Middle topic: California energy policy. Nick explores a few of the 40 climate bills signed by Governor Newsom this past September.Nick proceeds to look back on America’s Declaration of Independence and points of contention with King George III, points that sadly mirror issues Americans face today with their own government. And in closing, Nick examines the $80 billion headed to the Internal Revenue Service from the Inflation Reduction Act. This brings to mind the great Johnny Cash song “After Taxes,” recorded on the album I Would Like to See You Again—released in 1978, the year “Mean” Joe Greene and the Steelers would go 14-2 and on to win Super Bowl XIII.
This week's ITPNT marks the return of one of Michael's best friends: Stu Rosenberg! Stu has recently recorded multiple (great) full-length songs and Michael wanted to have him on the show to discuss his songwriting process, perfect pitch, and a few movies too. It's also a jam-packed C.O.T.O.R. (Check Out This Obscure Record) this week: Michael brought a licensed album with a Birthday anthem and Stu brought an LP which was nearly lost forever until happenstance brought it onto the silver screen. Both are wildly different releases... recorded in 1983. Enjoy the show! If you're a big fan of FIFA, then this may not be very good news for you. Your favorite game as you know it will not be continued any longer. FIFA and EA Sports have decided to go their separate ways. Why is that? Why will FIFA 23 be the last FIFA video game you will ever see? Well, we have already answered that question. The two long-term collaborators have split, but they decided to give the fans one last game before the partnership is dissolved. Now, we're wondering if Fast & Furious' See You Again will be one of the soundtracks of FIFA 23. Anyway, so what next after FIFA 23? Does that mean that we will no longer be able to play football video games?
Jordan and Brooke are rejoined by writer Emma Stefansky for this bittersweet entry in the Fast franchise that made us all cry like babies. But there's Dwayne Johnson flexing out of a cast to make up for it. We talk James Wan's box office bonafides, the incredible Dubai "dress transition" (you know the one), fighting with your car as an extension of yourself, and the series' wonderful send-off to Paul Walker. Plus, once again, Jordan proposes including Tom Cruise in this franchise by any means necessary.Follow us on Twitter! We're hitting you on a Monday this week with some immediate reactions to Sunday's games. Some good, some bad, some in between, all must listen. Some teams win at Watford, some don't. Who's to say which is better? The table is starting to take shape, but still plenty to play for in these final weeks. Sadly we give to you the final See You Again of the Season (we hope) in our return to form this matchweek.
