Another impressive win for Manchester United as they beat Tottenham Hotspur 2-0 at Old Trafford. Steven Railston and Tyrone Marshall review the game for the Manchester is Red podcast. Kobbie Mainoo continued his good form with Tyrone noting that former United boss Ruben Amorim must be "wincing" watching the youngster play so well under Michael Carrick. Tyrone and Steven discuss why Mainoo should be tied down to a new contract, the "hilarious" press conference from under pressure Spurs manager Thomas Frank, and who should start against West Ham on Tuesday night. ❓ Have you got a question for our United writers at the Manchester Evening News? Jack welcomes Con back to the show to reflect upon the defeat at Old Trafford that pushes Spurs perilously close to the relegation zone. We ask the uncomfortable question: is this actually going to happen? Do we have enough about us to avoid the drop, or is the club sleepwalking into disaster? We discuss the failings of Thomas Frank, his system, his demeanour, and the uninspiring displays that seem to be dragging the club down. The conversation goes deep on Cristian Romero's red card. Was it a red? Is he refereed differently to other players due to media narratives? We also address the growing calls from some Spurs fans who label the vice-captain a "liability" and ask if they are right or simply buying into the external noise. We couldn't record this without talking about Mauricio Pochettino's appearance on the High Performance podcast, where he seemed to be fluttering his eyelashes at Tottenham once again. Is a return destiny, or just emotional wistful thinking when we need a proper strategy? Finally, we look ahead to Tuesday's crunch game against Newcastle at White Hart Lane, a match that feels like a must-win for both the manager and the club's survival hopes. We react to the defeat at Old Trafford and the moment that killed the game. Cristian Romero's red card, the fallout from his comments the week before, and whether this is now the beginning of the end for him at Spurs. We get into reputation, discipline, leadership, and whether the club should cash in while it still can. There's no letting Thomas Frank off the hook either. Ten men or not, we tear into the decisions made after the sending off, the lack of any attacking intent, and what felt like a complete surrender. Was that game management or fear. And how much credit does Frank really have left in the bank.We also cover the January transfer window. Two signings, a lot of excuses, and serious questions about Johan Lange, recruitment, and whether Spurs actually know who is responsible for football decisions anymore. From there it turns bigger. Relegation talk. Whether Spurs are genuinely dragged into it or whether the points on the board will save them. Newcastle preview. Why tomorrow night feels massive. And what happens if Spurs lose again. Finally, we talk Pochettino. His comments on the High Performance podcast, the way he still talks about Tottenham, and why more and more fans feel like he's the only answer. Is it nostalgia, or is he genuinely the right man to reset the club.Raw, honest, and not pulling punches. If you're Spurs and you're tired, angry, or both, this one's for you.
Til sidst ser vi frem mod opgøret mod West Ham og siger et lille farvel til Manchester United, som går ind i en periode uden kampe.Vært: Christian K. Robbie Earle and Robbie Mustoe recap Matchweek 25 in the Premier League which saw a crazy matchup between two Premier League titans 2:33 - In a frantic and frenetic ending, Man City barely squeak out a 2-1 win over Liverpool in one of the matches of the season that keeps City's title hopes alive 11:19 - Thomas Frank calls Cristian Romero’s red card “the perfect storm” after a tumultuous week for the team's captain, as Spurs suffer a 2-0 loss to Man United at a roaring Old Trafford 18:08 - Arsenal soar to a 3-0 win against Sunderland after key goals from Martin Zubimendi and Viktor Gyokeres 20:52 - A roundup of other results: Wolves 1-3 Chelsea, Newcastle 2-3 Brentford, Bournemouth 1-1 Aston Villa, Fulham 1-2 Everton, Brighton 1-2 Crystal Palace, Burnley 0-2 West Ham, Leeds United 3-1 Nottingham ForestSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Rob Jones is joined by James Olley, Charlie Wyett and Dan Kilpatrick to reflect on the weekend's sporting action. We kick off at Old Trafford as Manchester United cruise to a 2–0 win over Tottenham. A first-half Romero red card flips the game on its head for Thomas Frank's side — and it leaves us asking: how much longer can Carrick be overlooked as a permanent manager?Next to Newcastle, and after a 3-2 loss at home to Brentford, we ask what's going wrong for Eddie Howe's side? Finally, we discuss reports linking Mo Salah with a move to Saudi Arabia, and ask how realistic it is that he could become the league's new face in the near future.
Host Ricky Sacks is joined by Broadcaster Russ Williams, Vass Koni and Marlon as playing for over an hour with 10 men proved too much of an uphill task at Old Trafford as we suffered a 2-0 defeat to Manchester United on Saturday lunchtime. Having started well, we found ourselves on the back foot after captain Cristian Romero was shown a straight red card for his 29th-minute challenge on Casemiro and the Red Devils duly took advantage to register their first win against us in nine attempts. Bryan Mbeumo slid home following a short corner routine seven minutes before half-time, but we stayed very much in the game – thanks in part to a string of fine saves from Guglielmo Vicario – and it was only a late goal from Bruno Fernandes that finally killed us off. The second period also saw the debut of Souza, signed last month from Brazilian side Santos, following an injury to Destiny Udogie at left-back. We discuss the actions of Romero and whether he has lost all the goodwill he gained during the week from Spurs fans, we question if Spurs are in a relegation battle and if so whether Thomas Frank can steer us out of it. Arsenal return from Elland Road with a four-goal win that extends their lead at the top, but the performance itself sparks plenty of debate. The pod breaks down a strange afternoon in Leeds — from a late line-up shock and Bukayo Saka pulling out in the warm-up, to a disjointed opening that gradually turned into set-piece control and second-half authority. There's discussion around Arsenal's reliance on corners, Noni Madueke's growing influence, and why the scoreline ultimately flattered Leeds more than it reflected Arsenal's grip on the game.Attention then turns to Martin Ødegaard's impact off the bench and a wider conversation about control, runners, and whether Arsenal's system is currently helping or hindering their key players. The panel also debates the shift in shape, what the numbers really say about the performance, and why this felt like “business done” rather than a statement win.In Part Two, a major injury update drops live during recording, raising fresh questions about depth and priorities as the season enters a decisive phase. There's also a full Whip Around the Grounds from Matchweek 24, another packed VARse segment dissecting controversial decisions across the league, and a look ahead to Chelsea at the Emirates with Wembley at stake.A routine win on paper — with bigger questions bubbling underneath.Chapters:(00:00) - Arteta's Non-Negotiables Intro(00:54) - Leeds Away: Line-Up Shock & Saka Pulls Out(04:04) - A Scrappy Start & Why Arsenal Looked Dull(06:38) - 0-1 | Set-Piece FC: Zubimendi Breaks the Deadlock(08:42) - 0-2 | Chaos at Corners & Madueke's Growing Influence(12:16) - Second-Half Sloppiness & Missed Kill Shots(15:55) - Odegaard Enters & Instantly Controls the Game(17:11) - 0-3 | Martinelli's Cross, Gyökeres Reacts, Game Over(19:04) - Odegaard Debate: Has He Looked Better Off the Bench?(25:48) - Saka, Runners & The System Problem(30:48) - 0-4 | Jesus Responds: From Net-Negative to Highlight Reel(33:00) - Stats Don't Tell the Story of a 4-0 Win(36:14) - Shape Shift: From 4-3-3 to 4-4-2(42:10) - PT.2 Bombshell: Merino Likely Out for the Season(44:48) - Whip Around the Grounds: Matchweek 24(54:22) - VARse: Brighton, Old Trafford & Villa Park Chaos(01:12:00) - Chelsea Preview: Injuries, Rotation & Wembley Stakes(01:19:20) - Closing

With players returning from AFCON and favourable fixtures coming up, the instant reaction to Michael Carrick's arrival as head coach against rivals Man City has pulled Man Utd players back into consideration
Michael Carrick brought back a touch of the glory days for Manchester United fans on Saturday. his team were on the front foot as they beat a lack lustre Manchester City. Was it a one off or is he finally the man to bring back some cheer to Old Trafford? With City losing it was time for other to capitalise. no one did. Arsenal eeked out an extra point, but the top four look a little tame. Is it a poor season or is the rest of the league just getting better? At the AFCON bizarre scenes saw Sengal leave the pitch in protest at a refereeing decision. Can that ever be justified...?and shoudl anyone be feeling sorry for Thomas Frank or Oliver glasner? Tom Clarke is joined by Gregor robertson, alyson rudd, Paul Hirst and Ian Hawkey Hosted on Acast. On this episode, Harry Symeou reviews Arsenal's 0-0 draw at Nottingham Forest. Mikel Arteta's Gunners missed the opportunity to extend their lead over Manchester City to a huge nine points. Sure, we've gained another point on Pep Guardiola's side who were beaten at Old Trafford on Saturday but it's fair to say Arsenal's performance at the City ground was well below the levels we've come to expect in recent seasons. Dharmesh Sheth is joined by Jack Pitt-Brooke, John Cross and Jack Rosser to break down the weekend's biggest football talking points. We start with the Manchester Derby, as Michael Carrick delivers a dream day at Old Trafford. United claimed a 2–0 win in a game where they had three goals ruled out, a Harry Maguire header off the bar, and an Amad Diallo post-hit late on. Meanwhile, Pep's City struggled with defensive absentees and a dry-spell for Haaland, but are they out of the title race?Staying with the title race, we turn to Arsenal's goalless draw against Nottingham Forest. John argues it was a missed opportunity for Arteta's side, who had the chance to move nine points clear of Manchester City. And we ask – should Arsenal have been awarded a penalty for Ola Aina's handball in the closing stages? And finally, attention then turns to Crystal Palace, following a bombshell interview from Oliver Glasner, in which the manager claims his squad has been abandoned by the club's hierarchy.Sunday Supplement is a Sky Sports podcast. This week's Matchday 22 episode of the EPL Show lands on the Lock Betting Podcast for the first time. I'll let you know why and where it'll land moving forward during the next 7-10 days. The weekend begins with the Manchester Derby, as Michael Carrick begins his interim reign at Old Trafford. The Red Devils' FA Cup exit at the hands of Brighton last weekend leaves them without a win in four games, but despite their dismal season, they have proven difficult to beat at times. They have lost just two of their last ten games and two of their ten Premier League home matches this season, and they have a solid recent record against their rivals.
The gripping third Test of the 2005 Ashes, the one when Simon Jones delivered one of the greatest inswingers of all time, the ground was full on the last day with 20,000 turned away, Ricky Ponting had to be dragged off after six hours of defiance and Australia celebrated a draw. #962 | United were knocked out of the cup by Brighton at Old Trafford. It's going to be a long few months from here. Perhaps that's a mercy. Ed and Dan discuss defeat to Brighton, try to put it in some context and hope that things will get better with an interim managerial appointment. 00:00 Introduction: United 1-2 Brighton 09:02 Squad Quality & Player Assessment 16:19 Interim Manager Dilemma 17:19 Cycle of Failure at United 22:56 Transfer Strategy, Midfield Needs 27:38 Leadership's Crap Decision Making 45:28 Team Selection for the Derby If you are interested in supporting the show and accessing a weekly exclusive bonus episode, check out our Patreon page or subscribe on Apple Podcasts. Were Manchester United right to sack Ruben Amorim? Gary, Alan and Micah debate whether United need to follow the model of Manchester City, Arsenal and Aston Villa, backing long-serving managers with real influence over recruitment — and ask the big question: when will the problems at Old Trafford finally end? Praise is also heaped on Keith Andrews at Brentford, who has enjoyed an outstanding season, with his side sitting 5th and just two points off the top four. The panel also discuss the cagey affair at the Emirates. While it ended in a draw, the point keeps Arsenal six points clear of Manchester City, who were held by Brighton for the third league game in a row. The Rest Is Football is powered by Fuse Energy.
