Welcome to Episode 1563 in which host Victoria Cece interviews Lorenzo Piccin Grifalco of Grifalco Winery this week on The Next Generation. The Next Generation where Victoria Cece interviews young Italian wine people shaking up the wine scene. More about the winery The Grifalco company was founded in 2004 by the desire of Fabrizio and Cecilia Piccin to start a new path after having produced Nobile di Montepulciano for 20 years, focusing on what is considered the most important grape variety in southern Italy; the project is currently carried out by their sons Lorenzo and Andrea. The company has a surface of 16 hectares with age of the vineyards ranging from 10 years up to 80 years, divided into several municipalities of the Vulture, this because being able to work with different land allows you to have greater complexity in the wines that are produced. To date, the vineyards are located in the municipalities of Maschito, Forenza, Ginestra and Venosa, where the cellar also resides. Lorenzo, 30, studied Viticulture and Oenology in Alba and takes care of all the company's production, from the management of the certified organic vines to everything that follows, once the grapes are brought to the cellar to turn them into wine. Andrea, 26, takes care of the commercial, the image of the company, the relationship with the press and the support abroad of our importers. Connect: Website: https://grifalcovini.com/ More about the host: Victoria Cece is a food and beverage storyteller whose curiosity is somewhere deep in a bowl of pasta or a bottle of wine. A fool for history, you can find her reading up about ancient grape varietals or wandering around a little Italian town eating everything in sight, under her alias Slutti Spaghetti. Today we get to talk about the gut and skin "picture" that tends to show up in psoriasis patients. There's research that states that the gut of those who have psoriasis looks eerily similar to those who have inflammatory bowel disease or IBD. Yikes! Today's guest completely agrees with the emerging research as well, so let's dive in. Today's guest is Fabrizio Galimberti. He completed his medical training at Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine-Case Western Reserve University, received his doctorate degree from Dartmouth College and his residency at the Jackson Memorial Hospital-University of Miami Miller School of Medicine where he also served as chief resident. Dr. Galimberti's research interests include oncodermatology, autoimmune connective tissue diseases, and impact on quality of life of dermatologic conditions. He has published numerous articles in prestigious journals as well as presented his work at international conferences. Are you a psoriasis warrior? How have you managed psoriasis? Let me know in the comments below! In this episode: Why psoriasis is NOT just a skin condition What does someone with psoriasis have in common with someone who has IBD or Crohns? Insight on looking at spouses who have the SAME diet where one has psoriasis and the other doesn't Why gut variability is important and how you CAN alter it Strep and other viruses as a possible trigger Quotes "It is a systemic disease. You see psoriasis, but psoriasis does not start on the skin. It starts inside your body." [01:15] "We do know that strep particularly can cause (a flare), but there's quite a lot of data out there that also suggests, for example, HPV or human papilloma virus, may be related to that." Both are world travelers who aren't pursuing the narcissistic goal of visiting all the world's countries (I'm guilty of this) but are drawn to areas that are extremely foreign to their upbringing. It's quality vs. quantity—profound travel experiences rather than checking off lists. I met Fabrizio in Niger, where we stayed with the generous and hospitable Malah Abdou. Come e perché muore? What is the role of music in cinema and why it is such an important part of the storytelling process? How does music increase our capacity for empathy and wonder?Fabrizio Mancinelli is an Italian-American composer, songwriter, and conductor, best known for his musical contributions to the world of cinema. As a songwriter, he has created original scores for The Land of Dreams,The Snow Queen 3, The Boat, and the upcoming animated drama Mushka, among others. In 2017, he led the orchestral recording for the Academy Award-winning Green Book, and he recently scored the documentary Food 2050, which premiered at the UN Climate Change Conference in 2022."And here I have to recall a conversation I had with one of my mentors, Luis Bacalov, who won the Oscar for the movie Il Postino, one of the biggest film composers of the 20th century and a great music arranger. He told me that he always has music in his brain, and I always had music in my brain as well. It's always there in the background. I would be concerned if there was no music for one day or even for one minute. Silence is a different kind of sound for me in the difference when I write music. Silence, a rest, is as important as a note because it prepares us for something else. It's part of the music. There is a difference between relative silence, which I put in the music, and absolute silence, which I fear."https://fabriziomancinelli.uswww.instagram.com/fabmancinelliwww.creativeprocess.info www.oneplanetpodcast.org IG www.instagram.com/creativeprocesspodcast

I'm an immigrant. I don't want to talk about the difficulties I face in my coming here, but it was not easy. So when I was writing the song called 'Give Up', and it's like a song that I'm singing to myself. Those are things, like there is a lot of personal experience. I was a luxury immigrant on a Fulbright grant on a J-1 Sponsor Visa, you know, with a solid family I could go back to in Italy in case anything went wrong. But at the same time, it was not easy. I want to do my job with a smile on my face, and it brought me to write the lyrics like: 'It's my turn. My time is now.' It's like something that I'm trying, we all try to get our turn to be our moment, to shine our moment. We're all waiting. We don't know if it will happen, but we need to try at least. We need to grab our life with our hands and make it work one way or another. So that's what I mean in my song 'Orlando Dreams.'I always have hope because I've been always on the other side of the world, you know, searching for inspiration, and I've always been like, you know what, I have to recognize there have been special people in my life that have given me their hands at the right moment. There have been also people that slammed the doors. I forgive, I don't forget. But there have been multiple people, way more that have given me their hands and a smile. Like even a compliment from a composer that I admire, you know, those things made a difference in life. A nice inspiration, like, yes, you can do it. It's difficult. I'm not going to say it's easy, but the right attitude can make it easier."https://fabriziomancinelli.uswww.instagram.com/fabmancinelliwww.creativeprocess.info www.oneplanetpodcast.org IG www.instagram.com/creativeprocesspodcast

And it's a montage of a grandmother passing. And I feel like if our goal is to transmit what we are feeling in that moment, we can do it sometimes in a more subtle way. I don't need to take the head of my audience and say - Look, cry, cry. No, I need to hold the hand of my audience and through the vibration of music...Everything is a painting and I always talk about colors in music as opposed to colors in vision. And I feel like it's a fitting comparison. But then, of course, the thing is as human beings, we'll always have our influences. Even if we find our artistic voice, we are like a complete sum of everything we've studied, we've appreciated in art, and we've lived.Everything is a painting there, and when something communicates those colors, I always talk about colors in music as opposed to colors in vision. We need to talk about storytelling and colors with directors. We don't need to talk about musical instruments with a director who's not a musician because 90% of the time we're going to end up in a direction that's not the one the director really wants. In 2017, he led the orchestral recording for the Academy Award-winning Green Book, and he recently scored the documentary Food 2050, which premiered at the UN Climate Change Conference in 2022."Food 2050 is a documentary about global warming and the food crisis all over the world. Global warming is made worse by the heavy production and consumption of meat, which leaves a heavy carbon footprint on Earth. We need to do better. We can do better. And the documentary is based on how the crisis is coming to the whole world in different ways, and we can figure out how to solve it in different ways all over the world, but to create a better environment, there is going to be a moment in which money will not be enough because the resources will be gone."https://fabriziomancinelli.uswww.instagram.com/fabmancinelliwww.creativeprocess.info www.oneplanetpodcast.org IG www.instagram.com/creativeprocesspodcast

It's totally different to go for a walk and look at old buildings. You look inside the windows, and you see frescos and art. Then I have a lot of friends who are artists, and I enjoy seeing their art. That's my fuel. That is my inspiration. If you don't love sitting in a fricking room with a script and trying to work it out, leave because that is the job.Born in Austria, Danny Nucci and his family moved to Italy and lived in Treviso until he was seven, then relocated to NY, where he would learn English and get his Queens accent. Although by 19, Danny already had reasonable success and was making a living as an actor thanks to a role in Falcon Crest, he continued honing his craft and perfecting himself. That commitment to excellence was the reason he starred in a string of blockbuster films, like Frank Marshall's "Alive," Tony Scott's "Crimson Tide," alongside Denzel Washington, Gene Hackman, and James Gandolfini, Michale Bay's "The Rock" opposing Nick Cage and Sean Connery, and "Eraser" with Arnold Schwarzenegger. After that impressive sequence, in 1997, Danny landed the lovable and heartbreaking role of Fabrizio, Leo Di Caprio's best friend in James Cameron's "Titanic."In this episode, Danny talks about the mental strength necessary to become an actor, how to use rejection to build resilience, and why having fun while acting, rehearsing, or even going through a script for an audition is crucial. He shared his thoughts, feelings, and experiences shooting Titanic, what an unexpected meeting with Steven Spielberg taught him, and his favorite Hollywood story. Additionally, Danny talks about the few times he felt "in the zone," how he felt the first time people knew who he was walking in an audition, shares excellent advice for young actors, and much more. Watch the Screenplay Reading: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xBZnxXwYWek 65 years from now, humanity is at the edge of extinction.Countless countries have crumbled under the weight of a rapidly collapsing global economy. Many of the largest cities of our time have been wiped out by great wildfires or swallowed by rising seas. An unending heat stroke chokes all living things that remain; vast droughts, punishing plagues and forced migrations have ignited global conflict on an unprecedented scale. As our descendants fight for dwindling resources, children born during this time enter a shadow world of our own…inheriting a new Dark Age. But deep in the darkness, a lone ember of hope burns… Get to know the screenwriter: Endure is ultimately about humanity's final fight for survival on an uninhabitable Earth. At the story's center is a protagonist who we watch come-of-age on a planet and in an American society that is quickly decaying and collapsing in on itself. He's the product of two parents who, on the surface couldn't be any different – his mother is a champion of idealism and enduring hope while his father is a pragmatic isolationist who's been forever traumatized by the atrocities he's witnessed as soldier. But they have one very strong bond in common – and that is their deep love for their son – who they struggle to raise as society seems to be falling apart around them. Our hero ultimately grows up to embody both the best and worst aspects of his parents' personalities as he follows in his father's footsteps and becomes a loyal and lethal soldier. In the name of his country, he'll commit his own atrocities – but later be given a chance at ultimate redemption as humanity's last hope for survival.
