Vithushan Ehantharajah, aka the Football Ramble's official Rat Correspondent, thinks that Liverpool will be pleased with the outcome. He's joined by Marcus and Jim to look back on what was a “good game, good game” - although it might have been even better if Dean Henderson swapped his cap for an Oasis bucket hat. Elsewhere, Jim finally tells us about the time he was bitten by a deer and Nathan Jones had a lovely time on his return to the Championship this weekend. Please fill out Stak's listener survey! L'argomento grammaticale di oggi è Introduction to the futuro anteriore.

Fabrizio Carboni, head of the ICRC delegation to the US and Canada, speaks to his vast experience in the wars of the past two decades, including the profound impact of 9/11 (2001) in integrating humanitarian action into battlefield strategies—including the targeting of humanitarian operations. Today, almost 25 years later, we are witnessing unrestrained violence, limitless war, and flagrant disregard for International Humanitarian Law. The emotional, psychological dimensions are poorly understood. Political leadership is essential whenever soldiers are asked to respect IHL. The most dangerous moment is when states argue that they are fighting a "survival war" that they believe is exceptional. Does the Trump administration honor IHL or seek a "realist" American First alternative? It is too early to reach a conclusion: "There is no rupture." It is also too early to know how deep cuts in US foreign assistance will impact ICRC and the broader global response to humanitarian crises. ICRC does remain a "soft target," increasingly exposed. It is striking how a single actor—the United States—can be so "steep" in changing its course. It shifts the ground towards deeper burden-sharing and inspires a debate on what the new architecture will be, with far less money. ICRC has just recently repatriated the remains of 6,000 persons killed in the Russian war against Ukraine. In Gaza there is no way for ICRC to avoid getting hit from all directions. 2,200 Gazans were recently shot or hit with shrapnel while approaching the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation food distributions. "Those numbers are unacceptable."

Are you a "good daughter" caught in a lifelong struggle to win your mother's approval—only to find it never comes? In this powerful episode, I'm joined by Katherine Fabrizio, psychotherapist and bestselling author of The Good Daughter Syndrome, to explore the complex dynamics of mother-daughter relationships and the impact of generational trauma. We discuss how empathetic daughters can become entangled in unhealthy patterns with difficult mothers—especially those with narcissistic or borderline tendencies. These daughters often struggle with guilt, people-pleasing, self-doubt, and an endless quest for validation. Katherine shares insights on how to break free from these cycles, set healthy boundaries, and learn the difference between helping and enabling. Most importantly, we talk about how healing begins within—through self-care, self-trust, and reclaiming your own voice. If you've ever felt "not good enough" in your mother's eyes, this episode is for you.

A month after the opening of this year's Venice Architecture Biennale, we've invited three critics to come on the show to help make sense of what was arguably one of the most content overloaded, and curitorially ambiguous biennales in recent memory.Since its inception in 1980, The Venice architecture biennale has set the tone for global discourse on contemporary design and urbanism, and yet the agenda of this year's exhibition, curated by the MIT professor and recent guest of this podcast, Carlo Ratti, seemed surprisingly muted and anodyne, calling for architects to marshal the quote intelligence of the natural, artificial and collective”Still there are more complex although perhaps unintended themes to the biennale this year, including the emerging relationship between unaccountable technologies and authoritarianism, quantatitve expansion as a proxy for genuine inclusivity, and perhaps most importantly, the exchange of an independent curatorial vision for an apparent new ideal of algorithmically determined experience. Today, we have a conversation with KATHERINE FABRIZIO, psychotherapist and author of ‘ THE GOOD DAUGHTER SYNDROME: Help for Empathic Daughters of Narcissistic, Borderline, or Difficult Mothers Trapped in the Role of the Good Daughter,' a book about generational trauma that lies at the intersection of good girl conditioning and difficult mothers. Drawing from over 30 years of clinical practice and her own deeply personal journey, Katherine is dedicated to helping daughters reclaim their identity and live their lives free from the invisible chains of their mother's expectations.  For many women, the mother-daughter bond is complicated by feelings of guilt, shame, and an intrinsic sense of duty. Katherine's expertise reveals how these dynamics often force daughters into the “Good Daughter” role, in which they're always focused on pleasing and never prioritize their own needs. This role, while seemingly noble, can lead to anxiety, depression, and a profound loss of self-regard. By blending clinical knowledge with her own story of breaking free from the expectations of a difficult mother, Katherine offers a unique blend of empathy, expertise, and empowerment that emboldens good daughters to reclaim their lost sense of self and become their own woman. As you heal from the narcissistic abuse from an intimate partner, you might come to this realization - that one of your parents is also a narcissist and has been abusive.Sometimes this realization is mind blowing and stops you in your tracks forcing you to rethink everything you thought you knew about your childhood and the family you grew up with.In today's episode I have a conversation with Katherine Fabrizio, a therapist working with these dynamics for decades, more specifically with the mother daughter relationship resulting in “The Good Daughter Syndrome.”We discuss the dynamics and challenges that arise for the daughters of mothers with narcissistic or other difficult personalities throughout their lives.  This includes the subconscious conditioning that starts during the early childhood years and how that impacts all of their relationships moving forward.  Katherine shares how she works with clients with these challenges with some ideas and tips that you can take and use right away after listening to this episode.BIO: Katherine Fabrizio, M.A., L.C.M.H.C., psychotherapist, mother, and author, has treated adult daughters of difficult mothers trapped in the “Good Daughter” role for over 35 years.Book https://a.co/d/0kUKQtO/ Quiz -https://daughtersrising.info/good-daughter-quiz/Please leave us a review or rating and follow/subscribe to the show.
