After a hard-fought victory against Newcastle, the top of the Premier League table is very interesting. David Mooney is joined by City fan Chris Higginbottom and former City goalkeeper Andie Worrall to discuss what happened in Saturday's 2-1 win and where it's left the title race after Arsenal also responded in the North London Derby. What about City's style change this season too? We hear from Pep Guardiola, Pep Lijnders and Bernardo Silva as we look at how City are coping with a more physical and more direct Premier League. What principles have changed to get to this current incarnation of City and what still remains from before? Calum Archibald, who contributes to The Square Ball, joins the show to speak about the mood at Leeds right now... and how their trip to the Etihad earlier in the season has changed their fortunes. Plus, we catch up with journalist and Forest fan Nick Miller to find out what on earth is going on at The City Ground, as yet another manager brings Forest to Eastlands in midweek. ========== To get more podcasts or to listen without the ads, join our Patreon. In this episode of The Club Podcast, Buvey, Rory and Adam are joined by Flav and Miles for a full-on Premier League special. First up, we draft the best Premier League XI from 2020–2025 with strict rules, a two-player-per-club limit, and plenty of controversy, including early Haaland, a debate over Ronaldo, and some wild late panic picks. Then we break down Arsenal's emphatic North London Derby win, why it felt like the perfect response after the Wolves draw, and whether the title race is now fully alive with City closing the gap. We also dig into Chelsea's latest dropped points, their ongoing red card and game-management issues, and what that means heading into Arsenal away!
This week Sam Allardyce and Natalie Pike sit down to discuss all things football from reacting to the weekend's results to answering questions submitted in by our viewers. They start the pod by briefly discussing Sam's new documentary 'Big Sam's Bolton' which is out now on SkySports and YouTube, all the fond memories that Sam looks back on and why he's incredibly proud of the documentary. The duo then discuss the recent North London Derby, why it's important that Arsenal continue to spread the goals out, the OUTRAGEOUS decision to rule out Tottenham's equaliser and what it all means for the title race.Sam & Natalie then chat about Liverpool vs Forest, Mo Salah's reaction to being substituted, the rise of talented wonderkid Rio Ngumoha and the race for Champions League is on!Sam & Natalie then discuss if Chelsea have a discipline issue after Wesley Fofana's red card at the weekend, would Chelsea sell Cole Palmer if they miss out on a potential top 5 and why Big Sam thinks they won't get Champions League football.Sam then talks about the advice he'd give Pep Guardiola and why the Manchester City manager is right to give his players a well needed rest in the build up to a busy title race. Then Sam slams Oliver Glasner for disrespecting Crystal Palace and why the Austrian manager needs to be humble himself as he ruins his reputation with the fan base after an amazing 2025.Finally we end the pod with listener questions including Sam's thoughts on Michael O'Neill at Blackburn, What's Sam's FAVOURITE away win and has he ever drank a pint of red wine?
Jack welcomes Con back to the show, and he is angry. After specifically requesting to come on purely to vent his frustrations, the pair pick through the rubble of another painful North London Derby defeat. With the dust having settled slightly on the 4-1 thrashing at the hands of Arsenal, we desperately try to see if there are any positives to take forward as Tottenham find themselves thoroughly entrenched in a relegation battle. We ask the big questions: do these players actually have the stomach for a scrap at the bottom of the table? Can this squad be trusted when the pressure is truly on? We also take a microscope to some of the individual performances on the day, and speculate on the uncomfortable truth: if the unthinkable happens and Spurs do go down, who will be the first players to jump ship? LAFC sent a loud message in their 3-0 dismantling of Inter Miami, and it wasn't just about the scoreline. Los Angeles FC looked sharp, organized, and ruthless, while Inter Miami CF looked frustrated and overwhelmed. We break down what went wrong for Miami, what this result means long-term, and whether Lionel Messi's heated postgame interaction with referees is a sign of deeper cracks. Plus, we recap the rest of MLS opening weekend and highlight the teams that set the tone early. Across the pond, the Premier League title race is heating up once again. Manchester City and Arsenal continue to push each other to the limit at the top of the table. Can City pull off another late surge, or is this finally Arsenal's year? We examine the remaining fixtures, squad depth, and pressure points that could decide the title. Off the pitch, concerns are growing around the 2026 tournament. With New Jersey canceling its World Cup fan zone and Gillette Stadium reportedly resisting FIFA licensing without additional funding, we ask whether the 2026 World Cup is starting to show serious organizational strain. Is this just early logistical turbulence—or a warning sign for what's ahead? Suj and James fared very differently again in FPL in GW27 as clean sheets were bust, well owned players flopped but one hauler for James in Nico O'Reilly made the difference; but there is no doubt as James even concedes, that there was big slice of luck that he even still owned him. That was the highlight of a weekend for James, which ended with another North London Derby humbling as Tottenham continue to look nervously over their shoulder at West Ham and Nottingham Forest, who both failed to score but were unlucky to do so. There's a much promised look at Rayan and comparison to other midfielders in a similiar price bracket. Bournemouth along with Brentford, Fulham and Liverpool assets are likely to be popular this week, should Arsenal players be binned despite Sunday's comfortable win, Chelsea's brilliant fixture run is over and they slipped up against Burnley, should their assets including the in-form Joao Pedro be moved on too? Sunday was meant to be a potential banana skin for Arsenal as they went to North London rivals Spurs, led by new manager Igor Tudor, for a North London Derby with important implications. As it turned out, it was Eberechi Eze who was the star of the show for Arsenal, scoring his fourth and fifth goals for the Gunners against Spurs this season in a 4-1 win, with Victor Gyokeres also helping himself to a brace. Elsewhere, Manchester City beat Newcastle for the third time in four attempts this season, thanks to a Nico O'Reilly double and Nottingham Forest were unlucky to lose in the dying stages to Liverpool, who just about kept up their Champions League chase. Marley and Joel are on hand to discuss all the talking points from another entertaining weekend of Premier League action. Domination Derby: Arsenal Destroy Spurs 4-1 Away from Home as Eze Delivers, Raya Recovers and the Premier League Lead Returns to Five PointsArsenal respond in the only way that matters. After pressure built following Manchester City's win, the North London Derby became more than just another fixture — it became a test of control, intent and composure. And from the opening minutes, Arsenal delivered one of the most dominant performances ever seen at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. We break down the starting XI decisions, the absence of key names, and the early intensity that set the tone. The discussion then moves into the opening goal — Saka's persistence, Eze's sharp finish — and the familiar frustration of conceding immediately after taking the lead. There's an honest assessment of Declan Rice's error, David Raya's positioning, and whether Arsenal are gifting opponents moments rather than being broken down. But this episode isn't about collapse — it's about response. We analyse Raya's in-game recovery, Gyökeres' growing confidence in front of goal, and the structural adjustments that kept Arsenal on the front foot instead of retreating into caution. Timber's contribution, Mosquera's composure, and the subtle tactical shifts in midfield all come under the microscope.Eze's performance is given full attention — his decision-making, positioning, and the wider question of how Arteta has finally unlocked his best role. We also examine the ongoing Trossard debate and what Odegaard's return could mean ahead of Chelsea. The numbers tell their own story: territorial dominance, touches in the box, xG control. But the episode goes deeper than the stats — into mentality, game management, and the standards required in a title race.Part Two features the Matchweek 27 whip-around, where we assess Manchester City's narrow win, Liverpool's controversial late goal, Chelsea's dropped points, and the developing relegation battle. VARse returns with discussion on Forest, City, Palace and the automated offside debate.Arsenal restored the five-point lead. Now the question is whether they can sustain this level of control.Chelsea up next.Chapters:(00:00) - Arteta's Non-Negotiables Intro(00:51) - Line-Up Reaction & “Not North London” Display Debate(03:48) - Early Intent & Fast Start(08:18) - 0-1 | Eze Finishes After Saka's Work(10:46) - 1-1 | Rice Error & Raya Questioned(13:16) - The Longest Half-Time Ever(15:46) - Raya's Save & Regaining Composure(16:47) - 1-2 | Gyökeres Strikes With Authority(18:13) - Disallowed Spurs Goal & Gabriel Controversy(21:22) - 1-3 | Eze at the Double(22:20) - Raya Big Save & Redemption Moment?(24:01) - Saka Injury Concern(24:58) - 1-4 | Gyökeres Seals It Late(28:03) - Match Stats & Dominance Breakdown(31:52) - Trossard Debate & Tactical Adjustments(37:29) - Raya Form Discussion(45:42) - Eze Role Analysis & Arteta Comments(52:34) - PT.2 Whip Around the Grounds (MW27)(59:30) - VARse: Forest, City & Palace Decisions(01:10:56) - MW27 Title Race, UCL Qualification & Relegation Battle(01:18:55) - Closing Thoughts

On today's episode, Patrick and Ted break down the North London Derby — how worried should Arsenal really be, and how bad could it get for Spurs? Then they look at two clubs dealing with the fallout of sacking established coaches: Chelsea can't stop stepping on rakes, and Real Madrid have no idea what they are anymore. Is this a wobble, or something more structural? The bottle debate is addressed directly.Part Two shifts gears. There's reaction to Bukayo Saka's new contract and what it signals for Arsenal's future. The hosts discuss the recent fan incident outside the Emirates and player security. The prediction table returns.
