From the creators of Real Housewives of Fighter Pilots, we bring you a podcast about nothing and also everything! We sit down with friends and fellow milspouses to talk life and finding levity in the chaos.
Sarah's back from vacation and ready to crack some Claws and hack the mish- and by mish we mean get back to podcasting in our humid closet. We talk reception speeches and bridesmaid duties and weird things that only seem to happen to Laura at weddings. Spoiler: someone threatened to throw pee on her. We also daydream about what guests we'd have on if some network was foolish enough to give us our own talk show. Thank you to our sponsors, BadAss Patches and Squadron Posters. Stay tuned for a special discount code you can use on your next orders!
This week, our guest cohost, Jess, joins Laura to answer your burning follower questions from this week's round up as well as give our own hot takes on why the hell Lululemon decided to change their military and first responders discount abruptly. And stay tuned for a special discount code you can use on your next order at Squadron Posters and BadAss Patches- both proud sponsors of our episode.
This week we sat down with Dr. Jannell MacAulay. She's a TEDx speaker, veteran Air Force pilot, retired Lt Colonel, and mom of two, with a PhD in the field on strategic health and human performance. Dr. MacAulay was actually the first leader to introduce mindfulness as a proactive performance strategy within the US military. Her leadership background and combat aviation experience gave her a unique perspective on how to best perform under intense pressure situations when mental discipline is imperative- ultimately inspiring her to pursue her doctorate and develop her high-performance mindset training program. We had an amazing time sitting down with Dr. MacAulay to discuss her mindfulness approach and how she developed her program despite having a full time military career and a family at home- let's just say she is as impressive as she is kind and approachable. We loved chatting with her and getting a glimpse at how she trains leaders and organizations to excel in high stress environments. You can find more of Dr. MacAulay on social media @macaulayjc and on her website at https://jannellmacaulay.com and check out her Warrior's Edge course online at https://competetocreate.net/warriors-edge/ This episode is proudly sponsored by Squadron Posters and Badass Patches. Listen in for a special discount code to on your next purchases!
This week we sit down with our friend, the incredible Christina Harrison (soon to be O'Brien). We discuss how Covid has affected her job as an Elementary school teacher and Spanish teacher, even delaying her wedding in Croatia. We also learn how a poor goldfish played a big part in getting her and her soon-to-be husband together. Happy wedding week to you, pal! Wishing we were in Croatia with you instead of waiting 30 minutes everyday in the carpool lane and getting goldfish thrown at us by our children. This episode is proudly brought to you by our sponsors, Squadron Posters and Badass Patches. Tune in for an exclusive discount code you can use on your next orders!
This week we sit down with Mel. On top of being a busy Navy spouse world traveler, Mel also works for the United States State Department. She shared with us her first-hand experience working in Afghanistan along with what she thinks about the country's fall and the humanitarian crisis that is currently unfolding. Although complex and heartbreaking, we also share some of the light we have seen in the darkness, and what we hope for our allies' future. This episode is proudly sponsored by Squadron Posters and BadAss Patches. Tune in for a special discount code you can use on your next purchases!
Sarah and I sit down to talk all things Tailhook this week. Spoiler alert- we are still actively recovering. Marine spouse, Sarah Heinz, also joins us to lend an outsider perspective on how your RHFP gals faired for their first time. All and all, we give the experience an A+ but we will need a full year for our livers to be ready for Hook '22. This episode is proudly brought to you by Squadron Posters and Badass Patches. Be sure to listen in for a special code you can use on your next purchases!
Sarah and I sit down this week to read and react to your follower submitted stories about surviving TDYS, deployments, and DETS. As military spouses, we all know that when your loved one is gone, that is when people or things either get trashed, smashed, or just plain crash- whether that's your AC unit combusting in the middle of the summer, your kid breaking leg, or maybe your hot water heater exploding all over your brand new hardwood floors. Could also just be your sanity! Either way, things just get weird. So we asked ya'll to share with us your most cringiest, weirdest, funny-even-though-at-the-time-not-so-funny stories, and as always, the RHFP fam did not disappoint. We aren't saying misery loves company, but I think we can all relate and commiserate with a few of these. Plus, they are had us rolling! So sit back, pour yourself a coffee or cocktail (time of day isn't important, we aren't judging) and buckle up.
This week we sit down with Holly from HD Fitness. She's a military spouse and mom focusing on helping women achieve their health and fitness goals and live more intentionally. And Sarah and I could take all the help we get, so we ask her some hard hitting questions like how many White Claws is too many White Claws if you're trying to tone up and does curling wine bottles count towards our daily fitness goals? We had a blast talking with Holly and hearing new ways of how we can approach nutrition and fitness in a much more holistic manner. (We want to give you a heads up that we briefly discuss our own past personal struggles with eating disorders, so please be advised in case it's triggering). You can find more of Holly @hollywaydarcy on Instagram and online at www.hdfitnesscoach.com/contact And thank you to our sponsors, Badass Patches and Squadron Posters for graciously sponsoring our episode. Listen in for exclusive discount codes you can use on your next purchase.
This week, we are joined by Christin at Altitude Accessories. She's a Navy spouse, mom, and small business owner carving a niche for herself in the community with her personalized aviation inspired clothing and accessories. As we look forward to attending our first Tailhook convention, we talk about what funny business we can expect at Hook '21, our exclusive partnership with Altitude Accessories and Badass Patches for the weekend, AND we also experienced our first car accident on the podcast while we were actively taping, so that was a real treat! We also discuss the US withdrawal and the current humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan and how the military community is stepping up to respond and support the effort and our service members currently serving overseas. You can find more of Christin @shopaltitudeaccessories on Instagram and shop her site at www.altitudeaccessories.com and for Tailhook attendees- don't forget to listen in for a code you can use at her booth to enter Altitude Accessories's shoe giveaway! And a big thank you to our podcast sponsors, Badass Patches and Squadron Posters. Tune in for special discount codes to use on your next order!
This week, we are joined by Mary Beth Gahan. She's a freelance journalist, Navy spouse, and mom of two. We talk about her passion for journalism, challenges she's faced with milspouse employment, and what were her favorite pieces she's written; hint: one involves some extra massage services, if you catch our drift. As standard practice on the show, we crack some Claws and jokes along the way. You can see more of Mary Beth and her work online at marybethgahan.com
Dr. Meaghan is back on the podcast this week to answer your listener questions and talk all things mental health. With everything going on in the world, God knows we all need some collective therapy right now. And on top of being a psychologist, Dr. Meaghan is also a military spouse and mom of two. We had a great time sharing a virtual beverage (or two) with her and getting in some solid laughs along the way. You can find more of Dr. Meaghan on Instagram @dr_meaghan and check out her virtual practice at betterlivesbuildingtribes.com
We're back to our weekly podcast schedule after a nice summer slow down, and what better way to kick things off than with Sarah's mom, Judy, who graced us with her presence this week. On top of giving Sarah her spunky personality and being a great Bubby to her two grandkids, Judy is also an Army veteran. We run the full gamut on topics from Judy's historied backstory, to bad hair cuts, to freak lightning accidents, and everything in between. This week, we also introduce our first sponsor to the podcast- Squadron Posters. So listen in for a special code to use on your next purchase!
This week, we sit down with milspouse and life coach, Christine, with The Milspouse Mastermind to talk about crafting a life of purpose as a busy military spouse. And God knows your RHFP hosts need some life coaching and a little direction...also a bug guy- we may have not only a rat problem but a scorpion problem on set. You can find more of Christine at www.milspousemastermind.com and on Instagram @christineh. And check out her podcast, The Milspouse Mastermind Show, on all major streaming platforms.
If you're looking to be inspired, this is the episode for you! This week, we sit down with Darbie Angell- mom, milspouse, humanitarian and UNICEF ambassador, and self-made entrepreneur and owner of Darbie Angell, a very popular tabletop and housewares company. Darbie's story is something out of the movies- from overcoming huge adversities in her personal and professional life, to hustling to get her products in major retail stores like Macy's and Target, to finding her true calling working to fight for gender equality and child welfare in impoverished countries. Darbie is as kind and authentic as it comes, and we had a great time chatting about her business, military life, and her company's humanitarian mission. A must listen to episode!
Let's talk about sex, baby! This week, we sit down with relationship coach and sexpert, Courtney, at Courtney Boyer Coaching. Courtney is an Army spouse with a counseling background in mental health and sex therapy. We talk communication and keeping the spark alive during separation and reintegration, cleansing my dirty chakras, sex post-kids, and investing in some good hardware, so to speak. And what's better than drinking some good wine and chatting about all things sexy time? You can find more of Courtney @courtneyboyercoaching on social media and www.courtneyboyerboaching.com
This week we are back and joined by Shea from Team Box Ops. We talk PCSing- the good, the bad, and the ugly...but mainly about the ugly, and how Shea's moving organization business was born. Shea shares tips on what to look out for with moving scams and we read and react to our followers' own moving stories. We were simultaneously cringing and howling at the stories involving everything from movers fist fighting to bathroom mishaps to all things strange and bizarre in between. You can find more of Shea at @teamboxops and her products on Etsy at boxops.etsy.com
This week, we sit down with Britt from Moments with a MEO podcast as we interview each other for a fun little twofer episode. Britt is a business coach helping other military spouse entrepreneurs who are trying to build a community online. We had a lot of fun talking love stories, personal growth + staying authentic online, finding your tribe, and all things social media and marketing. This is a great episode for anyone out there who is interested in networking and building an online community presence through social media. I seriously took notes because ninety percent of the time I'm Googling how to make a Reel or how to use a hashtag properly- all things that make me realize how damn old I really am and how little I understand about Instagram. You can find more of Britt @new_altitudes and online at www.new-altitudes.com and listen to her podcast @momentswithanmeo Love stories, Personal growth and being authentic, finding your tribe, Marketing, podcasting, getting started, navigating Instagram, Clubhouse, networking, killer flies, @new_altitudes and online at www.new-altitudes.com
This week we are mixing it up a bit while Sarah is away with a new format and new guest and fellow RHFP friend, Jess. We sit down over some questionable-tasting cocktails and just talk about life, friend-dating, and trying to organize a spouses trip sans kids and husbands. We're talking less interview, more just two military spouse gal pals catching up and shooting the shit while podcasting in a closet. Totally normal, except for the whole closet part. Send us a message and let us know what you think- whether you prefer interview, more conversational, or a little bit of both! We would love to hear from you even if you would like us to explore certain topics or themes, we are here for it. You can find more of us @realhousewivesoffighterpilots on both Facebook and Instagram. You can also email us at rhfp69@gmail.com
This week we are joined by Kristy and Meg, two Navy spouses on a mission to help fellow military spouses find flexible remote work opportunities through their staffing firm, Mutually Dependent. They partner with start-ups, non profits, and veteran owned businesses, who value having military spouses in their workforce. We talk everything from their journey to starting a business, to military spouse unemployment, to resumes and interview prep, and everything in between. We also laugh about our old social media handles, things you get excited about now that you're older, and how wearing yoga pants to the commissary was apparently frowned upon in the Marines. We had a blast sitting down with Kristy and Meg and hearing about what Mutually Dependent has to offer the community. If you are interested in finding out more, or need help with your resume, or are ultimately looking for remote work employment, you can find more of Mutually Dependent at @mutuallydependent on both Instagram and Facebook and www.mutuallydependent.com
This week we are joined by Sara. She's a first grade teacher, Air Force spouse, and runs a popular Instagram influencer account called @teacherintulle. We chat about teaching challenges and how her Instagram account has been a positive outlet during these chaotic and stressful times. We also talk influencer culture and social media and what's driving us to crack a White Claw Surge right now.
On this week's episode we sat down with Sarah. Sarah is a boy mom, a rescue dog mom, a Marine spouse. and professional photographer and videographer based in SoCal. We talk everything from celebrity cameos to how the Marines have far superior squadron parties than everyone else to how to train your husband and children to take good family photos. We really run the whole gambit of topics and stories, here. Sarah also tells us about her relationship with @thewingmanfoundation and helping to mentor amateur and aspiring professional photographers. We laughed, we vented, and a few cocktails were defintely had. You can find more of Sarah @sarahheinzphoto and if you are local to and area interested in working with her, you can check out her site at www.sarahheinzphoto.com
On this week's episode, we are joined by Shannon. Shannon is the CEO of Transition S & E, a full service strategic marketing agency for premier sports athletes. She's also soon to be married to her fighter pilot brother's best friend and fellow squadron mate, who she met and fell in love with last summer when she escaped NYC to ride out the pandemic in the South. We talk shop about the sports industry and what it's like trying to set up athletes for long term success after their professional careers end. Also, Laura tries to face her fear of heights and Sarah turns the podcast interview into a real-time job interview. We loved getting to know Shannon and think it's safe to say we became fast friends over a mic and few drinks. You can see more of Shannon @ms.judd and check out her business at @transitionse and transitionse.com
This week's episode, we are joined by Monica. She's a mom of twins and a self-made milspousepreneur and the female founder of Spouse-ly, an online one-stop shop supporting military spouse and veteran owned businesses. We talk launching a business during a pandemic, what makes Spouse-ly unique, and plans for the online marketplace's future. We also chat about how many Spanx is too many Spanx, stalking Mark Cuban, self-care, and juggling work and family life. A lot of Whiteclaws were consumed and we aren't mad about it. You can find more of Monica and Spouse-ly on Instagram @spouse.ly and online at www.spouse-ly.com
On this week's episode, we are joined by Dr. Meaghan. She's a national board certified counselor, military spouse, and mom of two. We also introduce our newest cohost, Sarah, fellow fighter pilot spouse and RHFP galpal. But what Dr. Meaghan didn't know is we basically got a free therapy session disguised as a podcast interview. We talk pandemic blues, treating serial killers, her family's exchange assignment in France, and really all things mental health this week. There's nothing like a good therapy sesh- - err, I mean therapy episode to make you feel a little lighter. That and the multiple cocktails that were consumed while we laughed and chatted. You can find more of Dr. Meaghan on Instagram @dr_meaghan and check out her virtual practice at betterlivesbuildingtribes.com
On this week's episode, we are joined by Dr. Aubrey. She's a badass TikTok'n emergency medicine doctor and soon to be military spouse. She brings an invaluable perspective as a ER doctor working on the frontlines in the midst of a global pandemic while also finding time to educate, motivate, and even bring some much needed levity with her popular TikTok and Instagram accounts. We had a great time talking to her about her job, her upcoming plans, and what's currently driving her and driving her to drink. You can catch more of Dr. Aubrey @drb_emergency on Instagram and @drb_emergencymd on TikTok.
In our inaugural episode, we are joined by Kate. She's a military spouse, a fellow podcaster (Mic & Moscato), blogger, and social media contributor on Military Wives Saving and My Military Savings. She's hilarious, self-deprecating, and loves to help military families save money shopping. We had such a fun time laughing with her and hearing more about her story. You can find more of her @kmbeberw and through her contributions @militarywivessaving on Facebook and Instagram.
