Text Me Your Thoughts On This EpisodeAlethia Austin is a skydiving coach whose influence reaches far beyond the dropzone. Known for her calm presence, thoughtful leadership, and global impact, Alethia is the founder of LSD—Level, Slot, Dock—a sold-out series of skill camps hosted around the world. Her approach to coaching blends technical precision with mindfulness, energy management, and personal growth.Raised in a small town in southern Oregon, Alethia set out on her own at just 17, carving a life path that would span continents and careers—from the entertainment industry in Los Angeles to marketing roles across Europe. But skydiving was the throughline. After a tandem jump in 2002, she followed the pull of the sport, eventually shaping her professional journey around it.A respected leader in angle flying and a Regional Captain for Project 19, Alethia is equally at home talking about safety procedures as she is about the deeper, emotional currents of the sport. Her travels—including a pivotal journey through India in 2020—have informed her philosophy, one that bridges movement in the air with inner awareness on the ground.Plant-based for more than 20 years, a yoga teacher, and handpan musician, Alethia brings an intentionality to skydiving that has inspired countless students to not just fly better, but live more consciously. This episode is a reflection of Alethia herself—honest, grounded, and quietly powerful.

Send us a textYou've seen them floating gracefully across the sky—those dreamy hot air balloons that look like they belong in a storybook. A big puff of color, a little basket, and poof! You're flying. Easy, right? Not so fast, Diva. Behind that peaceful ride is a whole world of serious science, sky-high strategy, and major skill. This week, we're pulling back the curtain with Damian from Get Loft Hot Air Balloons, and trust us—this is not your cousin's DIY backyard balloon. “People think we build these in our garages and just go barnstorming for fun,” Damian laughs. But no ma'am. These balloons are real-deal aircraft, regulated by the FAA, professionally manufactured, and flown by trained, certified pilots who know their altitudes from their attitude. From weather stalking a week before launch to choreographing the whole inflation-to-landing process like a Broadway show, ballooning is an art and a science. And steering? Let's just say balloons don't exactly come with a steering wheel. Instead, pilots ride the layers of wind at different altitudes, catching the currents like an airbending boss. (Ever heard of "boxing the field"? You will.)Oh, and get this—Damian's background? Skydiving. Yep, he made the leap from jumping out of planes to flying the thing people jump out of. Turns out, ballooning is a skydiver's dream, but it also comes with some wild logistics. Like planning for sudden weight shifts when the jumpers go whoosh out of the basket. It's all about timing and precision. And let's not forget our favorite part: the post-flight champagne toast. It's not just for the ‘Gram. This bubbly tradition started back in 18th-century France to keep angry farmers from stabbing balloons with pitchforks (true story). Nothing says “please don't destroy my balloon” like a bottle of good wine.So whether you're dreaming of your first balloon ride or just here for the fun facts, this episode will have you floating with fascination. These gentle giants are more than just eye candy—they're a full-on adventure in the sky.Leave us a message! Visit Our Website!Follow Us!FacebookYouTubeInstagramTikTok

“I'm happiest with my feet off the ground.” – Jenny Cova What if fear wasn't something to conquer... but to dance with? In this soulful and seriously inspiring episode, I'm joined by sky dancer, base jumper, and soon-to-be author Jenny Cova—an extreme athlete who brings pink power, grace, and authenticity to the clouds. But behind a woman literally flying, there's a story of self-doubt and learning to let go of ego. But this isn't just about jumping out of helicopters. It's about getting real with the fears that keep any of us stuck—fear of failure, fear of being too much, fear of the conversations we avoid but know would set us free. Jenny gets radically honest about how perfectionism and ego can destroy joy, and how she had to learn to bring playfulness back into her life.

Have you ever had a gut feeling you couldn't explain—but ignored it anyway? I just had a crash landing that reframed the way I see the skydiving sport going forward. In this video, I take you through the moment I dismissed my intuition—and the accident that followed. But this isn't just about skydiving. It's about identity, purpose, and the wake-up call I never saw coming. If you've ever silenced that inner voice, doubted your instincts, or felt lost in a life that doesn't quite feel like yours… this story is for you.

With nearly five decades in the sport and more than 12,000 jumps to his name, Miff has been a driving force behind the growth and evolution of skydiving in South Australia and beyond.Since making his first jump in 1977, Greg has become one of the country's most respected Chief Instructors. In 1986, alongside Gavin Northsworthy and Kevin Taylor, he helped introduce tandem skydiving to South Australia, making the sport more accessible to newcomers. Over the years, his leadership has helped advance safety protocols and raise equipment standards across the region. At SA Skydiving—founded in 1989—Greg serves as Director, Senior Pilot, Drop Zone Safety Officer, Examiner, and Instructor for both Tandem and AFF. His contributions have helped shape SA Skydiving into one of Australia's premier drop zones, offering breathtaking experiences and high-quality training.Beyond his professional achievements, Greg has mentored generations of skydivers—including his own children—creating a tight-knit community rooted in passion and progression.Join me as I speak with Greg “Miff” Smith about his journey, his impact on the sport, and the legacy he continues to build in Australian skydiving.
For most people, making the decision to start a static line course is an accomplishment all on its own, but for some, you aren't showing real dedication to pursuing a new experience until you've driven across multiple African countries to start it! Just ask Erin Shutes, who did exactly that. Working around the world in the field of epidemiology and doing her best to help those most in need, it became clear to Erin that finding a balance to such intense work required equally intense play. Skydiving and then later BASE jumping fit that bill to perfection, and she has been embracing both sports and their respective communities ever since. A heartfelt member of the Lunatic Fringe in every respect, Erin embodies what it means to be a lifelong member, friend, and partner to some of the most passionate people around.

Ryan Herron shatters this stereotype with his refreshingly calculated approach to adventure. "Adrenaline is what you get when you mess up," he explains, revealing how methodical preparation underpins his seemingly risky pursuits.Ryan takes us behind the scenes of Skatewives, the popular social media account he created with his wife Emily during their van life adventures across America. What began as Emily reluctantly filming Ryan's skateboarding tricks blossomed into content that humorously bridges the gap between skateboarding insiders and outsiders. Through Emily's fresh perspective, viewers gain insight into skateboarding culture's peculiar rituals that seasoned skaters take for granted. The conversation explores how skateboarding's unique mindset shapes character and decision-making. "I don't know that there's any other facet of my life where I have attempted something hundreds of times and failed," Ryan reflects, explaining how this perseverance transferred to his career building a cannabis data analytics company and navigating major life transitions. His story demonstrates how the determination to get back up after falling becomes a powerful life philosophy.Ryan's approach to risk—whether in business, relationships, or extreme sports—centers around process mastery rather than reckless abandon. A harrowing story about parachute line twists inside a cloud illustrates his thoughtful relationship with danger, where respect for risk leads to better preparation rather than fear-based avoidance. Skydiving is already extreme, but doing it over Antarctica takes things to a whole new level! With freezing temperatures, brutal winds, and almost no room for error, it's one of the most dangerous jumps on Earth. The air is so thin that skydivers need oxygen just to breathe as they freefall over endless ice. Plus, landing in the wrong spot could leave you stranded in one of the most unforgiving places on the planet. Only the bravest (or craziest) dare to take the leap! Would you ever try it, or is this madness best left to the pros? We admire those willing to put themselves in such peril with the interest of exploration and discovery in mind, but with those who choose it for fun? It's hard for the rest of us to wrap our heads around. Let's take something common. SkyDiving. It's said you'll never feel so alive! And that's because… you'll never feel so close to certain death. “But it's safe!”, they'll say. And to that I respond. I'm sure it is. Airplanes are safe too. Here's the problem with both. Back in the can to talk about his continuing adventures in all things airsports, paragliding, and more, the one and only Jason Moledzki! Skydiving beginnings aren't always blue skies and sunshine as Jason Moledzki can tell you. Sometimes the drive to make that first jump can come from a truly dark place, but it was a place that Jason found the drive and determination to escape through his love of skydiving and BASE. A multiple world champion dozens of times over with world records and accomplishments in competition too long to list, he and his crew were a major driving force in the advancement not only of canopy piloting and its flight out of infancy, but in competition itself. As the co-founder and creative director of Flight-1, Jason has been instrumental in the complete overhaul of canopy instruction both in the civilian and military skydiving world with incredible student numbers going through their courses each year. on top of that, he is the co-creator/host of his own podcast called Trust the Journey with Melanie Curtis offering inspiration and insight along our journey deep within the Lunatic Fringe.

Chances are if that you were watching some action thriller in the '90's featuring an airplane being hijacked, there was a strong likelihood that it starred Wesley Snipes....as this would be one of three (the others being U.S. Marshalls and Passenger 57) released during that time period with such a sequence. And amazingly of all three, this would be the one to feature him most up in the air as Snipes stars as U.S. Marshall Pete Nessip who after suffering a tragedy on one such hijacking early in the movie decides to track down said hijackers whom he believes were able to escape via parachutes?? :o Yup it's a crazy theory but it turns out to be true as these hijackers are actually professional sky-divers lead by the nefarious Ty Moncrief (Gary Busey) who has plans to use the convicted master-hacker Earl Leady (Michael Jeter) to utilize his hacking skills for nefarious purposes. So what does our hero decide to do to apprehend these guys? Why to infiltrate the insular world of sky-divers of course! ;) And his most important ally/mentor turns happens to be master-skydiver Jessie Crossman played by Yancy Butler (Hard Target, Witchblade). So yes we get to see SNIPES Up In The SKY during his '90's peak....and directed by John Badham (WarGames, Saturday Night Fever, Bird On A Wire), one of the more underappreciated genre filmmakers of the era. In this episode, Joe interviews Melanie Curtis: world record professional skydiver, keynote speaker, coach, co-host of the Trust the Journey podcast, and author of How to Fly: Life Lessons From a Professional Skydiver. Curtis shares her journey from taking her first transformative leap out of an airplane to becoming a leader in skydiving, public speaking, and now, the integration of psychedelics into personal growth. She discusses the parallels between skydiving and working with psychedelics – most notably in the idea of leaping into the unknown, trusting the universe, and in the potential that can be unlocked after you've come back down to earth. While relatively new to the psychedelic space, she stresses the importance of sharing your story and opening up dialogues, no matter how small you think your voice may be. She talks about: Her early psilocybin journeys and recent ayahuasca experiences How she came out of the psychedelic closet to her Mother, and learning of the power of small steps and trusting the universe Realizing how her Father's behavior affected her, and how it has made her more connected to her femininity and other women The power of confidence and how much better we'd all be if the fear of humiliation wasn't so prominent in our lives and more!
