Top-performing IT solution providers are experiencing record profitability, achieving over 19% adjusted profit margins for the fifth consecutive year, despite a slowdown in revenue growth. The latest report from Service Leadership indicates that while managed service providers (MSPs) saw revenue growth of only 7.1% in 2024, their adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA) grew at a more robust rate of 13%. This trend highlights the importance of operational maturity and cost control as key drivers of profitability in the industry, suggesting that MSPs should focus on enhancing their operational processes rather than solely pursuing top-line growth. The podcast also discusses the rising use of artificial intelligence (AI) tools among office workers, with nearly half utilizing tools not provided by their employers. This covert usage raises concerns about data privacy and compliance with company policies. A report from Ivanti reveals that 42% of employees are using AI in their daily tasks, a significant increase from the previous year. The discussion emphasizes the need for organizations to prioritize data quality and governance, as the responsibility for data modeling shifts to operational layers where real-time decisions are made.Google is making significant changes to its search engine, introducing an AI Mode Search Engine tool that will provide AI-generated responses instead of traditional links. This shift could fundamentally alter how users access information, posing challenges for IT service providers and content creators who rely on traditional SEO strategies. The integration of AI into search engines raises questions about the future of content discovery and the potential erosion of Google's dominance as the default search engine, especially with Apple considering AI-driven search options for its Safari browser.Arctic Wolf has announced an increase in its security operations warranty to $3 million, the largest in the industry, aimed at enhancing customer trust and positioning its endpoint security solutions as enterprise-grade. This move reflects a growing trend among vendors to share risk with clients, emphasizing the importance of trust in a competitive market. The podcast concludes by highlighting the need for IT service providers to adapt to these changes, focusing on shared risk and high assurance as key selling points in a rapidly evolving landscape. Driving the popular Mazda CX-5 SUV today, Mazda’s top seller, it’s been around a long time in ten models, a mix of petrol and diesel and front or all-wheel drive. No hybrid but I’m told its coming. I drove the second tier 2.5-litre six-speed automatic CX-5 Maxx Sport front wheel drive - $43,184 drive-away, which included optional Soul Red Chrystal Metallic paint at $795. A colour that has in many ways become a trademark of Mazda. The CX-5 a good looker, still our fourth best-selling medium SUV, behind Toyota’s RAV4 and getting some strong competition these days from Kia’s Sportage and Hyundai’s Tuscon. I did nearly 900km over the Anzac weekend and it really surprised - well sorted, extremely comfortable for four adults – the Maxx Sport well specified apart from the lack of wireless phone charging and a power rear door. But it has dual zone air-conditioning with rear outlets, a welcome head up display, a rather small 8-inch display screen on the dash but just so safe to use with a rotary dialer to let you scroll through a menu – so much safer than many of the new Chinese SUV’s with their large touchscreens and no active buttons. Warranty 5-years/unlimited km. Drive details next. I’m David BerthonSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Representation and warranty insurance (“RWI”), a growing presence in Canadian M&A transactions, is the subject of Mario Nigro's conversation with Rishi Dhir of Willis Towers Watson's Transactional Insurance Solutions group. Rishi discusses the increased adoption of RWI in the Canadian midmarket, noting that it is now commonly used in transactions with enterprise values as low as $5 million. He explains that the premiums and deductibles for these policies have decreased, while also highlighting the broad coverage provided in deals of all sizes. Recent developments highlight RWI providers' increased scrutiny of supply-chain flexibility and reliance on international customers in response to the tariff landscape.

Nissan’s small Qashqai SUV has been freshened for 2025 in a re-aligned model rangewith a new N-Design grade flagship with hybrid power standard – the Qashqai e-Powerhybrid N-Design around $60,000 drive-away. Nissan have added new technology andequipment, freshened the styling, at the same time cutting the previous rather highservicing costs and providing a longer warranty – but hybrid pricing remains highcompared to petrol Qashqai models. However, the e-Power N-Design is packed withpremium features – leather seats with massage function, a panoramic glass roof, 20-inchalloy wheels, a power tailgate and a most impressive digital dash and touchscreen, thankfully with a mix of buttons The 1.3-litre four-cylinder turbo in the petrol modelsreplaced by a 1.5-litre three-cylinder petrol turbo – and here the e-Power worksdifferently to a conventional hybrid – the petrol engine purely powers a generatorconnected to a 2.1kWh lithium-ion battery pack – only the e-motor drives the front wheels– this hybrid system adds around 200 kilos over a conventional petrol Qashqai but itoffers over a 900km driving range. Despite the e-Power hybrids exalted price tag thedrive experience is very rewarding. Warranty including battery five-years unlimited km oran impressive 10-years/300,000km if serviced by a Nissan dealer. I’m David BerthonSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

The plaintiff in the lawsuit said he bought a used 2020 Model Y Tesla vehicle with 36,772 miles on it. He said he started to notice "peculiar patterns” in mileage while the vehicle was continually having problems with its suspension. He claimed his daily driving habits should have amounted to about 20 miles per day, but his Tesla's odometer was registering an average of 72 miles per day. As a result, he said Basic Warranty expired way ahead of schedule.

Way back in February, thousands of dental technicians gathered in Chicago for the 40th anniversary of LMT Lab Day Chicago. While stationed in the Ivoclar (https://www.ivoclar.com/en_us) Ballroom, we got to talk to many wonderful people that make up our industry. We start this episode with a technician that followed his dentist uncle in Mexico and went to dental technician school. Christopher Hernandez soon found himself making sleep apnea devices for years before finding his new home at Clear Choice doing All-on-X cases. Then we welcome back to the podcast, Greg Everett. Last time we talked to Greg, he was with a company that manufactured milling burs. Now he works on the whole mill with his new company Denteon (https://denteon.com/). Specializing in Roland Mills, Greg provides a service to complete rebuild or repair your mill so you can continue to get your monies worth for years longer than expected. We suggest visiting denteon.com if you have any Roland Mills. We wrap up the episode with Ivoclar's own Joe Braxon. Still talking about mills, but this time exclusively with Ivoclar mills. Joe is responsible for the installation, training, and service for all of the PrograMills. Joe talks about his background, finding Ivoclar, and what sets their mills above the rest. Take it from Laura Prosser, the digital marketing manager for Ivoclar North America (https://www.ivoclar.com/en_us). She would like to invite you to start following them on Instagram. It's your chance to obtain exclusive updates on product announcements, industry news, upcoming educational events, and heartwarming stories about our local team and industry professionals. Let's get social together. Simply start following us on Instagram @Ivoclar.na (https://www.instagram.com/ivoclar.na/). We'll see you there. Are you a dental lab in need of more talent to improve your bottom line and keep production on schedule? Are you a dental tech with great skills but feel you're being limited at your current lab? As a lab, you might be feeling the frustration of paying the big employment site so much and getting so few tech candidates. We understand they don't much care about our industry. WINWINGO.com is simply the best place for lab techs and lab owners to actively engage in creating their ideal future. WINWINGO.com, how dental techs find paradise. "Win on Sunday, Sell on Monday". We have all heard the term. Does it really apply anymore. Lots of us bought a Subaru after seeing clips of Colon McRae doing unimaginable things in his GC or Petter Solberg doing the same in his GD but that what a while ago and what is being raced today is a LOT different to what was being raced then. Warranty and Dewey tackle this subject.

In this episode of the HVAC School podcast, Bryan sits down with James and Jeff from Copeland to discuss the evolution and capabilities of Copeland's mobile applications, particularly focusing on the Copeland Mobile app and the new Scout feature. James, who has been with Copeland for 28 years, and Jeff, who works as a trainer, share their extensive knowledge about how these tools can benefit HVAC technicians in the field. The conversation begins with a historical perspective on Copeland's service bulletins, which have been a valuable resource for technicians since the 1980s. The guests explain how these bulletins have evolved from being difficult to access to becoming readily available through the Copeland Mobile app. They discuss how the app has become an essential tool for technicians, allowing them to access critical information about compressors, including operating envelopes, current draw specifications, and troubleshooting guides. The discussion then moves to the exciting new features in the Copeland Mobile app, including the integration of Fault Finder and the introduction of Scout, an AI-powered search tool that draws exclusively from Copeland's database. Scout not only provides answers to technical questions but also points users to relevant resources and documentation. The guests emphasize how these tools can help reduce unnecessary compressor replacements, noting that 30-40% of returned compressors have nothing wrong with them. In this episode of the HVAC School podcast, Bryan shares his "Manufacturer Responsibility Manifesto," a document he wrote over two years ago but held back from publishing until now. The manifesto addresses growing concerns about the burden being placed on HVAC contractors, particularly smaller businesses, due to manufacturing quality issues and warranty policies. The industry has undergone significant changes since the 1990s, including stricter refrigerant regulations and an increase in parts failures. While manufacturers offer longer warranty periods now than in the past (often 10+ years compared to 3-5 years previously), these warranties often don't cover crucial expenses like refrigerant, brazing rods, fittings, and labor costs. This leaves contractors in a difficult position of either absorbing these costs or charging customers and potentially damaging relationships. The manifesto calls for manufacturers to take greater responsibility for their products, particularly during the warranty period. Bryan proposes that manufacturers should reimburse contractors for total costs (including labor) for manufacturer-caused repairs within the first year, and cover parts and ancillary materials (including refrigerant) during the subsequent warranty period. He argues that this would incentivize manufacturers to improve product quality and reduce environmental impact, as they would bear more of the financial responsibility for failures and refrigerant losses. Key topics covered in the podcast: Evolution of HVAC industry regulations since the 1990s Increase in parts failures compared to previous decades Impact of global supply chain issues on part quality and availability Environmental concerns regarding refrigerant leaks and equipment waste Warranty coverage limitations and their impact on contractors Disparity between domestic and overseas manufacturing quality Financial burden on small contracting businesses Need for clear standards to differentiate manufacturer vs contractor-caused failures Proposal for comprehensive warranty coverage including ancillary materials Environmental responsibility and accountability in manufacturing Role of manufacturers in industry sustainability Impact of private equity and large companies on the industry Need for improved quality control in manufacturing Relationship between warranty policies and contractor-customer trust Call for industry-wide collaboration to implement changes Have a question that you want us to answer on the podcast?
