Recorded at two recent industry events – the SolarPower Summit in Brussels and the Battery Business & Development Forum in Frankfurt – this week's episode explores why batteries have become one of the most dynamic areas of the global energy transition. Featuring two industry heavy hitters, the conversations cover how BESS is transforming everything from electric mobility and charging infrastructure to renewable energy markets and grid management. In the first interview, we're joined by Laurent Segalen, clean energy investor and host of the Redefining Energy podcast, to unpack why electrification is entering a new phase of growth. Laurent explains how falling battery costs, improving EV technology, and changing energy economics are accelerating the shift from fossil fuels to electricity – particularly across transport sectors such as cars, vans, and heavy-duty trucks. The discussion explores why electric trucks are becoming increasingly compelling from a business perspective, with lower operating and maintenance costs driving adoption. Laurent also explains why stationary batteries will play a critical role in supporting high-power charging infrastructure, creating buffers across the electricity system, and enabling the continued expansion of renewable energy. In the second half of the episode, we speak with Stefan Mueller, COO and co-founder of ENERPARC, about the booming utility-scale battery energy storage system (BESS) market in Germany and Europe. Stefan shares insights into the wide range of emerging opportunities – from grid-scale batteries and solar-plus-storage projects to behind-the-meter applications supporting industry, EV charging, and energy-cost optimization. The conversation covers the changing economics of battery projects, including merchant trading, peak shaving, balancing markets, and how energy storage can help companies access more reliable renewable power. Stefan also explains what investors and banks need to see for BESS projects to become financeable, and why predictable regulation and grid connection frameworks remain essential. We also discuss the role of AI and digital platforms in managing increasingly complex energy assets, the future of hydrogen versus electrification in transport, and why batteries may ultimately help us use existing electricity infrastructure far more efficiently. ✉️ Questions or feedback? Have you ever worked so hard on something, gotten so frustrated, sweat dripping, ready to give up, only to realize you were turning the bolt the wrong way the whole time? In this episode, Pastor Nate Rauschert uses that exact moment to describe what life looks like when we are striving in our own strength instead of flowing in the rhythms of God's grace. Drawing from Psalm 23, Proverbs 3, and James 4, you will discover that grace is not a reward for the people who have it all figured out. It is a gift that overtakes the people who are humble enough to stay surrendered, acknowledge God in everything, and refuse to let sin, distraction, or self-sufficiency cut them off from the voice of the One who actually knows the plan. If your life has felt more like a fight than a flow lately, this episode is exactly what you need. Tune in and find out what it really means to be caught up in the rhythms of grace.

#124 A Cup of Tea with Flowing River On this episode we sit down with Flowing River, a heart-centered mystic and ceremonialist who runs a tea house in Montecito, California. The conversation covered Flowing River's spiritual journey, including his travels to 34 countries seeking personal healing and spiritual understanding, beginning at age 29 with yoga training in Guatemala. We discussed the challenges of Western capitalism and consumer culture, with Flowing River sharing stories from his time living in a Filipino ghetto where he learned about contentment and the human capacity for adaptation. The discussion touched on topics ranging from technology addiction and social media habits to alternative governance models, permaculture, and the importance of reconnecting with nature through growing food. We end with Flowing River reading a poem about the futility of pursuing material wealth in the search for true happiness and spiritual fulfillment. https://drishti.house/

There's the faith of salvation and then there's the faith of daily life (two sides of the same coin). In this conversational episode Mark and I work through what it means to live by faith in our regular lives. For starters, Christian faith is submitting to the Lordship of Christ and his revelation, word, value system, and kingdom. Flowing out of that, faith means living toward something, or better toward someone. Along the way we rule out different things that Christian faith is not, those against common cultural and Christian sub-cultural assumptions. Just one of those "faith is nots" is pure subjective experience; faith is not reducible to a burning in a bosom. How? Why? What are both the objective and subjective elements of Christian faith? And then, do we balance or integrate the objective and subjective elements? Come and think about the Christian life with us in ways that run sometimes contrary to common assumptions.

Infused with the relaxing quality of nature and the sound-masking properties of white noise, listening to running water is an ideal way to turn off all the stressful things life brings, and to de-stress. Some of our most popular sounds include a river, flowing creek, babbling brook, gentle waves on a lake, and a bamboo fountain. Rain also creates a natural white noise. Infused with the relaxing quality of nature and the sound-masking properties of white noise, listening to rain is an ideal way to switch off all the stressful things life brings and to de-stress. Some of our most popular sounds are rain on an umbrella, hailstorms, hard rain, soft rain, gentle rain, wind and rain, rain on a car.White noise helps babies and children to get a better and deeper night's sleep. This is because external sounds are masked by the noise. With white noise in the background, your child will not hear annoying cars driving by or dogs barking in bed. This allows your little one to sleep better. And it also saves you as a parent a lot of hours!Pink noise is more common in nature than you might expect. It can be compared to continuous rainfall or wind. In addition to white noise, pink noise is also increasing in popularity, especially in business environments. Because it can increase productivity, concentration and creativity.Brown noise can be compared to waves of the sea, a river current, strong winds or the sound of thunder during a storm. Like pink noise, brown noise is very similar to white noise. However, the frequencies have been lowered even further and a lot more concentrated. This gives it a rougher/coarse tone than pink noise. It sounds a bit deeper and a bit bass-like. The benefits of brown noise are the same as the other types of noise. It provides relaxation, increased focus and improved deep sleep.DISCLAIMER: Be aware that loud noises can damage your hearing. If you can't carry on a conversation without raising your voice while playing one of our spheres, the sound may be too loud for your ears. Do not place the speakers directly next to a baby's ears. Henry Lindner walks into the cathedral of general relativity and asks why no one can hear the pipes, flowing space as reformation of Einstein's gravity, where the medium returns and the math bows down to something almost physical, almost true. We trace the long exile of substance from physics, from Newton's absolute space through the ether wars to Mach's ghost whispering in Einstein's ear that nothing real needs to exist at all. But a simplification is not an explanation, and gravity still has no mechanism, no cause, no beating heart beneath the geometry, only equations where a theory should be. This is the Keplerian step: cleaner orbits, better math, and the Darwinian question still howling unanswered in the dark.Flowing Space: https://henrylindner.net/FlowingSpace2024wide.pdfPATREON https://www.patreon.com/c/demystifysciPARADOX LOST PRE-SALE: https://buy.stripe.com/7sY7sKdoN5d29eUdYddEs0bHOMEBREW MUSIC - Check out our new album!Hard Copies (Vinyl): FREE SHIPPING https://demystifysci-shop.fourthwall.com/products/vinyl-lp-secretary-of-nature-everything-is-so-good-hereStreaming:https://secretaryofnature.bandcamp.com/album/everything-is-so-good-herePARADIGM DRIFThttps://demystifysci.com/paradigm-drift-show00:00 Go! 00:03:24 — Newton's Absolute Space and the Ether00:13:26 — Berkeley, Mach, and the Rejection of Physical Substance00:31:01 — Institutions, Ideology, and the Shaping of Physics00:47:31 — Einstein's 1905 Revolution: Removing the Medium00:57:33 — The Twin Paradox and Special Relativity's Loose Ends01:20:20 — GPS and the Case for a Preferred Frame01:24:46 — General Relativity and the Equivalence Principle01:29:06 — Flowing Space: A Mathematical Refinement of Gravity01:47:36 — Where's the Mechanism? What happens when grief feels too heavy to hold with words alone? In this moving conversation, host Elizabeth Mintun sits down with Kelsey Moro, dance movement & creative arts therapist and founder of Riverbend Grief. Kelsey explores how grief lives in the body - and how movement, breath, ritual, and community can help us reconnect to ourselves after loss. In this conversation, Kelsey shared her personal journey into grief work after the tragic loss of a friend in high school transformed her relationship with dance and ultimately led her to become a grief therapist. Together, Elizabeth and Kelsey explore the ways grief can leave us feeling frozen, disconnected, or afraid to fully feel - and how gentle movement practices can help us safely meet our grief rather than avoid it. Whether you're navigating loss yourself or supporting.c someone who is grieving, this conversation offers compassionate insight into the healing power of embodiment, ritual, and community. Key TakeawaysYou do not need to be a dancer to benefit from movement-based healing. Breath itself is a form of movement and can be a powerful starting point. Small daily grief rituals can help grief feel less overwhelming. A Land Flowing with Pork and Beef: Colonial America's Rise to the World's Meat Consumption Capital

History Unplugged Podcast

When European settlers arrived in North America, they enjoyed a level of meat consumption that was absolutely unimaginable in the Old World. An average European was lucky to see meat once a week while even a poor American consumed about two hundred pounds a year. Ten years after the starving Plymouth colonists subsisted on wild game and Squanto's help, the Massachusetts Bay Colony found the environment so favorable for pigs and cows they didn't know what to do with all the extra food. A man who visited Pennsylvania in the 1750s marveled at the abundance of beef cattle. “[E]ven in the humblest or poorest houses, no meals are served without a meat course.” Today's guest is Maureen Ogle, author of The Price of Plenty: A History of Meat in America. We look at how a single cow acted as a compounding asset, allowing a farmer to turn free pasture into immediate capital that could be reinvested into more land and larger herds. This cycle of expansion triggered a massive supply surge that crashed the price of beef, transforming meat from a high-status luxury into a foundational calorie source for the growing working class. Meat spread with refrigerated railcars that undercut local butchers to create a national market and then government subsidies for cheap corn and soy after WWII killed off remaining retail butchers while creating the modern paradox where Americans want ethically raised meat but won't pay the high prices such a system requires.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
