Artificial intelligence can imitate a lot of things. Artificial faith can too. In week seven of our James series, Pastor Jeremy unpacks how genuine faith produces something imitation faith never can—and why James calls us to examine the fruit of our lives, not just the words of our mouths.
Most of us have experienced unanswered prayer, and James chapter four speaks directly to why. The root of conflict, both with others and within ourselves, comes down to selfish desire and divided loyalty. When we ask God for things with wrong motives, or when our hearts are more devoted to the world than to Him, we cut ourselves off from the very grace we need. Humility and genuine submission to God are not signs of weakness. They are the posture that opens the door to His grace and presence. Repentance means letting the weight of our divided hearts actually land on us, not just brushing past it. God is not distant. He is simply waiting for us to draw near with a surrendered heart. The fullness, peace, and answered prayers we are searching for are available to the humble, the surrendered, and the asking.Thank you for joining us at NorthRidge Church! The Book of James: Faith and WorksDid your parents ever tell you: do as I say, not as I do? It's definitely not the best message to send - because the fundamental premise is: belief and action don't have to go together. But, when it comes to faith in Jesus, belief must show up in our behavior. Join us as we learn, from the Book of James, how to do what we say we believe.
Welcome to Wellspring Church! What does real spiritual growth look like? In this message, Pastor Billy Waters explores a question many Christians wrestle with: if God desires to transform us, how do we actually grow? Looking at the book of James, Billy reminds us that spiritual maturity is not primarily about trying harder or compiling a longer list of religious accomplishments. Instead, growth begins with a heart that is humble, receptive, and responsive to God's Word.Throughout the message, we are challenged to move beyond simply hearing Scripture and into a life of obedience. Billy explains that transformation is both God's work and our participation. The Holy Spirit changes us, but he also calls us to cultivate a posture of humility, receiving the Word with openness and allowing it to shape our lives. As we submit ourselves to God's truth, we are gradually transformed into the likeness of Christ.

Most of us know we're supposed to love our neighbor. The harder question is: what happens when mercy becomes inconvenient? In week six of our James series, Pastor Jeremy unpacks a story from Jesus that challenges our assumptions, exposes our blind spots, and reminds us that compassion is more than a feeling—it's something we choose to do.
Welcome to Wellspring Church! In this message, Pastor Katie Gayle launches our new series through the book of James by exploring a question that sits at the heart of Christian discipleship: What does it actually look like to follow Jesus in real life?James wrote to believers who had been scattered by persecution and were facing significant trials. Rather than offering easy answers or promises of comfort, he assumes that hardship is a normal part of life with God. Katie reminds us that James is not interested in a faith that is merely claimed, but a faith that is lived—a community whose lives reflect wholehearted devotion to Jesus, not just Christian language or identity.

James 3 reveals the immense power of our words and the challenge of controlling them. While small things like bits and rudders can control horses and ships, our tongues remain difficult to tame because they reflect our heart condition. The same mouth that blesses God often curses people made in His image, revealing a deeper spiritual problem. True change comes not from trying harder to control our speech, but from allowing God to transform our hearts. When our hearts are aligned with godly wisdom - which is pure, peaceable, and gentle - our words will naturally follow suit and become instruments of peace rather than destruction.Thank you for joining us at NorthRidge Church! In week one of our new series through the book of James, Pastor Jeremy unpacks why this book hits so differently when life gets difficult. Because when pressure rises, faith stops being theoretical and starts becoming visible. This message challenges the drift so many of us settle into and asks a hard question: are we actually growing into maturity, or just getting better at looking spiritual?
James chapter 1 reveals the crucial difference between trials and temptations in our faith journey. Trials are God's tests designed to mature our faith and develop patience, while temptations come from Satan to destroy us. When facing difficulties, we need wisdom from God, which He gives liberally to those who ask in faith without doubting. The progression of temptation follows a pattern: lust leads to sin, which brings death. We must be careful about what we entertain in our lives, as whatever we allow in through entertainment, relationships, and habits can lead us down a dangerous path. True faith requires being doers of God's word, not just hearers, and practicing pure religion by caring for orphans and widows while keeping ourselves unspotted from the world.Thank you for joining us at NorthRidge Church! The Book of James, written by Jesus' half-brother who transformed from skeptic to believer after the resurrection, offers practical guidance for authentic Christian living. James addresses the relationship between faith and works, explaining that genuine faith naturally produces good works - not to earn salvation, but as evidence of it. The letter teaches believers how to pray with unwavering faith, respond properly to sin with a broken heart rather than indifference, and view trials as opportunities for spiritual growth. James emphasizes that mature faith isn't just about believing the right things, but living them out in observable ways that demonstrate the reality of our relationship with God.Thank you for joining us at NorthRidge Church!
