I will not make any excuses. It has been a long time since the last podcast. Over two months to be exact. I am ashamed to call this "The Weekly Yes, And Podcast." It's more like "The Every Once In Awhile Podcast." No excuses. And I do apologize. It has been a busy two months (still no excuses) and I am grateful for everything that has gone on before, during, and after the holidays! By the way...Happy New Year everyone! So...Episode 114 gets you all caught up on all of the exciting things going on, especially our second annual Holiday Hope for the Homeless that was a huge success! But the real point of Episode 114 is the idea that It Only Takes One. That's it. You. Me. The guy sitting next to me in Panera wearing a fedora. Bold move by the way.  If you look at the news and the problems we are facing today, it sure doesn't feel like one of us is big enough to do too much. And that is where we are wrong. In fact, it only takes one person to cause a shift and inspire a total transformation. It happens all of the time, but it requires some serious courage to do so. But this is courage not exclusive to superheroes...it is in all of us. Do you have it in you? (You do) Listen to Episode 114 and let's get doing this together! Now excuse me while I head off to the fedora store! --Travis PS - Make sure to check out our friends at Inspired to Give! They are our partners in this podcast!

#RakFriday18 is here! This has become by far my favorite day of the year. It is a celebration of humanity. It is a day that proves and reinforces the goodness that is in all of us, and the willingness to get out there and show it to others.  We started RAK Friday about 6 years ago, and it has grown every year since. We have schools, companies, teams, and groups of all kinds getting together this year in order to create RAK Teams.  The reason we started RAK Friday was because of how overpowering Black Friday has become. It's a menace to Thanksgiving, and represents the opposite of what we all really appreciate about the holidays, but still get sucked into it. So, instead of spending the day in that consumption mindset, what if you spent the entire day looking for ways to bless other people - thus transforming Black Friday into RAK Friday.  Our goal this year is to have 2,018 Random Acts of Kindness performed and then shared on social media using the hashtag #RakFriday18. And this year, when you share your RAK, post your team name with a chance to win prizes! Click here to watch this year's video. Click here to visit the Rak Friday Facebook page! Get out there and get your RAK on everyone! --Travis

Have you noticed how divided we are as a country right now? (That's a rhetorial question). If you are cynical you might think this is the way it has always been, and it is the way it will always be. But, this doesn't have to be the case. Having differences is fine, actually it's great, but when we are not willing to embrace each others differences - and we are not willing to offer respect and dignity to someone who thinks differently than we do - you have what we are currently experiencing in this country. In Episode 110 of The Weekly Yes, And Podcast - Travis shares his ideas and reminds all of us - there is really only one team! No matter how different you think we are, and even though we trick ourselves into thinking there are "those people, that state, that country, that political party, etc. " - what we need to remember is that there always has been and will always only be...ONE TEAM! If you were to call any youth sports organization and ask them about their core values, they would tell you how important qualities such as integrity, character, and sportsmanship are in their program. They would tell you how they are teaching kids life skills that will help them the rest of their lives. But, if you asked them "how" they do it, their answers might get a little more vague. You might hear how their coaches have "x" years of experience, and that the game itself is such a great teacher of character. And it's true, but what you don't always hear or see if an actual process or system in place that makes teaching and developing character a priority.  As a performance coach I see it all of the time. When you just rely on an individual coach to teach these skills based on their own beliefs and style, what you get as a parent or player is a crap shoot of coaching quality and consistency. You get a player who has an amazing experience with one coach, and then the next season in the same Club they have a totally different experience with a different coach. I am not talking about coaching styles, but an actual difference in philosophy and values from coach to coach. It's one of the big problems in our youth coaching programs. So, it was refreshing when I came upon Brett Miller. Brett has been a youth soccer coach for about 5 years. He hasn't won a National Championship or World Cup (yet), but I guarantee Brett is changing lives with the impact he is having on his players, parents, and coaches, on his team and the other teams as well. In Episode 108 of The Weekly Yes, And Podcast - Brett shares simple and applicable ways to make teaching character and life skills a relevant and natural part of coaching.  I was really blown away from my time with Brett, and I think you wil too! "Seeing is believing!"  "Believing is seeing!" Which is it? Well, if you are a spritual person you probably grew up being taught that faith was not about "seeing" the evidence, but rather "believing" first. If you are more on the rational and human side you may have been taught not to "believe" something until you have actually "seen" proof first.  So, which side do you fall? In Episode 72 of The Weekly YAP - Travis hosts another solocast where he shares his inspiration on this age old question. Perhaps, it might just be a combination of both!
