“Spirituality definitely belongs in the workplace. Being allowed to bring your full self and your full spirit to the job is where people can be the most productive,” says Lori Saitz, CEO of Zen Rabbit. This week, Lori joins Mike Horne to discuss the impact of health, meditation, and wellness on the workplace. She shares her journey from a shy child to a successful entrepreneur and wellness advocate, emphasizing that employees are not just resources—they're invaluable assets. How can business leaders enhance their leadership skills and creativity? Lori explains how simple practices like meditation and gratitude can make a significant difference. She highlights meditation as a cost-effective tool that rewires the brain, enhances focus, and promotes better decision-making by fostering calmness and groundedness. Lori also dispels the myth that meditation is difficult, encouraging its daily integration to boost overall well-being and productivity. Gratitude, according to Lori, plays a crucial role in the workplace. She references research showing that appreciation leads to increased motivation and productivity among employees. This episode explores the broader implications of these practices, suggesting that true productivity isn't about time management but about quieting the mental distractions that hinder focus. Lori passionately advocates for a return to people-centric management, where employees' holistic well-being is prioritized, and they are encouraged to bring their full selves to work.   Quotes “Going back to what high-performing business leaders are doing, they're practicing meditation to become more focused, creative, and innovative, and to build better relationships. One of the questions I get asked a lot is, “When's the best time to meditate?” There really is no best time—it's whenever it works for you. Personally, I like to do it first thing in the morning because it sets the intention for the day. When you deliberately, intentionally set an intention for the day, you're setting yourself up for success. That's essentially what meditation does.” (13:54 | Lori Saitz)  “Spirituality definitely belongs in the workplace. Being allowed to bring your full self and your full spirit to the job is where people can be the most productive.” (17:20 | Lori Saitz)  “The one piece of inspiration I would offer is to refocus on what you have in your life to be grateful for. Our society is so focused on complaining and criticizing, and we don't need more of that. We need more focus on gratitude and finding it wherever it is.” (21:22 | Lori Saitz)   Links Learn more about Mike Horne on Linkedin Email Mike at mike@mike-horne.com Learn More About Executive and Organization Development with Mike Horne Twitter: https://twitter.com/mikehorneauthor  Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/mikehorneauthor/,  LinkedIn Mike's Newsletter: https://www.linkedin.com/newsletters/6867258581922799617/,  Schedule a Discovery Call with Mike: https://calendly.com/mikehorne/15-minute-discovery-call-with-mike     Learn more about Lori Saitz: Website: zenrabbit.com LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/lorisaitz/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/zen_rabbit/ Facebook personal: https://www.facebook.com/LoriSaitz/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/zenrabbit   Podcast production and show notes provided by HiveCast.fm

You know that meditation is great for your mind, body and soul—but fitting it into your life can be easier said than done. If you find it hard to sit for 30 minutes with your legs crossed, trying to suppress your thoughts, you're not alone. For me it's nearly impossible. But my guest on this episode—award-winning author, broadcaster, speaker and meditation expert Lori Saitz—says it's OK. There is more than one way to meditate, and you can find a method that works for you. No matter how much stress you're dealing with or what the universe throws in your path, Lori says, a regular practice can change your life in so many positive ways. In this episode Lori and I talk about: How meditation helps to rewire your brain and positively impact your life in both immediate and long-term ways, such as reducing stress, boosting creativity, improving your relationships, and even helping you sleep better Why almost everyone's midlife experience has an undercurrent of “suck” and why that needs to be acknowledged before you can get to a better place How women were conditioned to bury our feelings and rationalize away our dissatisfaction (“I should be happy because I have X, Y or Z”), and how meditation can help if you're losing your zest for life or feel that something is just off How you know when your soul is calling for growth—and find the courage to respond to that call Steps you can take to discover your personal meditation “style” and make it work with your lifestyle How to use meditation on the spot in stressful moments, to calm yourself where you're at When it might be a good idea to consider a midlife sabbatical Lori also explains why she thinks big transitions in midlife should not be dubbed a crisis, but rather a re-evaluation or reawakening. And she talks about the hardest thing she's ever done—leaving her 22-year marriage, which she describes as “fine”—and why she had to do it. This episode will change your mind forever about meditation! Full show notes available at Morebeautifulproject.com.

Lori Saitz is a gratitude expert with a mission to help people understand just how important gratitude is in our life.In this episode, we dive into the power of gratitude and the impact it can have on our business and personal life. Lori shares personal experiences and insights, including her mother's gratitude's profound effect on her outlook on life. We also explore the role of social media in our lives, the importance of finding time for meditation, and the misconceptions surrounding it. Additionally, Lori opens up about her journey as an entrepreneur and the concept of work-life integration. We cover a range of discussion topics, including:Gratitude is a game-changer: The concept of gratitude goes beyond just saying thank you. It can be a powerful differentiating factor in business, as well as in our personal lives. Cultivating a deeper sense of gratitude, even in challenging situations, can enhance our well-being and bring more joy into our life.Meditation for the win: Meditation doesn't have to be a daunting or time-consuming practice. Research has shown that even just a few minutes of meditation per day can bring incredible benefits, such as increased focus, productivity, and emotional regulation. Find what works for you, whether it's sitting quietly or taking a mindful walk in nature, and prioritize this investment in yourself.Let's rethink social media: While social media has its merits, it can also foster mean-spirited and self-centered behavior. We must remember that virtual connections can't replace the value of genuine face-to-face interactions. Consider using just a small fraction of your social media scrolling time to incorporate meditation into your daily routine. Episode 20 with Lori Saitz, a 30 Day Traveling Sabbatical with her 19 year old cat Panther. This is the podcast all about cats!  Danielle started by showing off her new glasses from SPEX Eyewear, where 100% of the proceeds go to cat rescue and animal rescue.  She looked adorable, as always.  The conversation turned to health, human health as well as cat health, then into what fun things Danielle and Elizabeth have done lately. The conversation then went into Lori's travels with her 19 year old cat Panther, and the photo she sent of herself and Panther in the car.  She talked about the fun of smuggling cats into hotels, then the trio chatted about their cats and their love of cats.  The question came up of "what do you do when you have to travel but the cat can't come with you?"  And of course Max came up, between anti-itch meds and Zyrtec his itching has calmed way down, so it's time to get a photo of him all dressed up!  It's hard to decide which virtual outfit to use...Danielle would photoshop Loki and Thor and Tony and Derek into outfits befitting their names. Loki and Thor are gods and Tony and Derek are Ben Stiller characters, LOL.  Since everyone on the show had adopted rescued cats, of course cat rescue and cat behaviors were discussed.Lori talked about her business Zen Rabbit, and her podcast, Fine is a Four Letter Word.  Are you really fine, or is it just something we say to other people?  How are things really?  And how can you go from chaos to peace in your life?  Somehow the conversation veered to ice cream and back to cats and, well, you just have to hear it for yourself!Of course we want to hear from you, we love chatting with pet parents, the more cat stories the better!  We dare you to top Danielle and Elizabeth with stories about weird cat behavior!  We think we've seen it all, but maybe not...Find us online:  Visit http://thejerseypodcats.com, download and review the podcast episodes in your favorite podcast player or from http://thejerseypodcats.buzzsprout.com, and join our FaceBook group The Jersey PodCats Community. In this episode of “The Journey of My Mother's Son” podcast, I sit down to talk with fellow traveling nomad, Dave Houser. Dave and I were connected through a mutual friend, Lori Saitz.  We have both been guests on her “Fine is a Four-Letter Word” podcast.  She immediately felt that we would connect with each other because we had so much in common.  We were both coaches for long periods of time and are now traveling throughout the country in our own unique ways.  She was right, Dave and I immediately hit it off, so I wanted to get him on the show as soon as I could and share his story. Dave grew up with great parents and a loving home right outside of DC on the Maryland side. From a child though he never wanted to fit in or be like everyone else. He spent twenty years as a college coach helping people achieve things that were once thought to be impossible. However, he neglected facing his financial situation and became overwhelmed with everything so he began learning as much as he could how to take back control over where his money was going. Fast forward ten years and the Financial Nomad was created to help people understand their finances.  Be in charge of their financial futures and building the flexibility to experience more life has to offer then get a good job with benefits and defer enjoying themselves until retirement. His purpose to help bold individuals become financially free when passive income exceeds monthly expenses and build the lifestyle they want to live.
