The focal point of today's discussion centers on the concept of authentic food and the individuals who contribute to its creation, specifically highlighting the innovative approach of Douglas Raggio, the founder of Pass the Honey. Raggio is dedicated to transforming the honey industry by promoting clarity and sustainability, addressing the confusion surrounding sourcing and quality that has pervaded this market for years. Accompanying him is Chef Josh Bernstein, a Florida-based culinary artist whose childhood experiences fishing with his father have profoundly shaped his culinary philosophy. In this episode, Chef Josh prepares two exquisite dishes, one featuring Pass the Honey honeycomb and the other utilizing premium Aussie Select lamb, all while sharing anecdotes that emphasize the importance of sourcing and storytelling in the culinary world. Ultimately, this conversation serves as a testament to the intricate connections between food, its origins, and the passionate individuals who elevate it beyond mere sustenance.Takeaways: The honey industry has been plagued by confusion and fraud, prompting the need for clarity and transparency in sourcing. Douglas Raggio's company, Pass the Honey, aims to redefine honey consumption by offering clean, single-source honeycomb directly to consumers. Chef Josh Bernstein emphasizes the importance of storytelling in cooking, reflecting on his childhood experiences with fishing and how they shape his culinary values. Honeycomb serves as a versatile ingredient, enhancing dishes beyond traditional uses, and can elevate the dining experience when paired creatively with proteins and salads. The conversation explores the challenges of educating consumers about honey and honeycomb, particularly regarding misconceptions about their quality and uses. Regenerative practices in beekeeping are essential for improving the livelihoods of beekeepers and ensuring the sustainability of honey production. What if stress didn't have to control how you feel—and you had simple tools to change it, starting today? If you've been enjoying The Health Feast, I'd be so grateful if you left a quick review on Apple Podcasts. It helps others find the show—and keeps this Feast growing. Dr. Robyn Tiger knows this firsthand. Years ago, she was a practicing radiologist with what looked like a perfect life on paper—two kids, a great career, a supportive husband. But behind the scenes, her body was breaking down. Migraines, digestive issues, numbness, anxiety… she went to specialists, ran every test, and took every medication. Nothing helped. The real diagnosis? Chronic stress. In this powerful conversation, we dive into Robyn's journey of healing and how she now helps others reclaim their health through simple, science-backed tools. Robyn is a double board-certified physician, certified yoga therapist, life coach, and the founder of StressFreeMD. I met her through the American College of Lifestyle Medicine, where she is a leading expert on mind body medicine, and leads breathwork, yoga, and mindfulness sessions. In this episode, we discuss: The hidden ways chronic stress shows up in the body (and why 90% of symptoms seen in primary care have stress as a root cause) Emotional buffering—why we numb stress with food, alcohol, or overwork, and how to break the cycle The yoga class that shifted everything for Robyn—and why it worked Why physician burnout is not a personal failing, but a systemic issue Practical, evidence-based tools you can use to feel better now (and yes, she guides us through one of them in the episode!) Robyn's story is a reminder that feeling better isn't just possible—it's a choice. And sometimes, the first step is simply learning how to breathe again. Live Well and RAK ON, Dr. Rak
A few weeks ago, the United States, aided by intelligence from Israel, carried out a significant strike against Iran's nuclear facilities at Fordo, Natanz, and Isfahan. This marked a critical step in Israel's ongoing efforts to neutralize Iran as an existential threat—a threat that continues to shape the security landscape across the Middle East. Meanwhile, the war in Gaza has entered its second year, and the debate in the West focuses on the civilian consequences of the war, which is perhaps understandable. But it also obscures the event that triggered it all: the horrific Hamas massacre of October 7, 2023. So if one tries to hold both of those things in mind at the same time, what would an Israeli withdrawal from Gaza look like? What is the end goal of the war?Against this backdrop, today's episode features my conversation with Israel's ambassador to Sweden, Ziv Nevo Kulman. We discuss how, paradoxically, October 7 led to a noticeable rise in antisemitism across Sweden, Europe, and—sadly—throughout the entire Western world. In parallel, Greta Thunberg has shifted her global activism from climate to pro-Palestinian issues, most recently attempting to symbolically break the maritime blockade against Gaza. I ask the ambassador about her actions and her accusations of being kidnapped by Israel. We delve deeply into Iran's role as an ever-present existential threat to Israel, and how the attack on Iran's nuclear facilities has altered the security situation in the region. Was this justified? I ask him directly about statements made by figures like Carl Bildt, who claimed that the U.S. airstrikes violated international law. We also address Sweden's recent push for the EU to impose sanctions on Israeli ministers—an initiative that the ambassador believes risks empowering extremist forces rather than promoting peace and stability. And if you're wondering why he mentions dogs at the beginning, it's because I had shared that my German shepherd accidentally bit off my fingernail. Ambassador Kulman, having grown up around German shepherds himself, ended up chatting with me about dogs before we started recording.

Welcome to Daily Bitachon. Before the war started, we were in the middle of our study of Rabbenu Yonah in Mishlei , Chapter 3, Pasuk 26. We were discussing that whenever someone is being hit , he should not focus on the stick, but on the One who is holding the stick. He quoted a pasuk in Yeshayah (10:20): " Nish'an al Hashem, kedosh Yisrael be'emet/They relied on Hashem, the Holy One of Israel, in truth. We discussed the concept of Bitachon gamur bli safek/complete trust without doubt. Now he quotes a source that ultimately Hashem is in charge of all " hitters ." As it says in a pasuk in Mishleh : " פלגי מים לב מלך ביד ה׳ י Palgei mayim/like flowing waters and streams, the heart of a king is in the hands of G-d. " על כל אשר יחפץ יטנו/ G-d can turn and tilt him in whichever way He desires . What does that mean? The consensus of the commentaries is that although human beings have freedom of choice —we make choices, and of course, Hashem can decide whether or not our choices will materialize—human beings still have choices. But when it comes to a king, it's very different. In the words of the Chida in his sefer Kiseh David , the tenth derush for Shabbat Zachor: " HaMelech en lo bechirah"—a king does not have free choice. "Rak libo b'yad Hashem"—his heart is in the hands of G-d. "El kol asher yachpotz yatenu"—he will turn and tilt as G-d desires. This applies specifically to a king —a full controller. The Sefer Chassidim in Siman תמא brings an example from Rechavam, who listened to the counsel of the younger advisers instead of his elders, and it ended up backfiring. The pasuk clearly says there, " hayta sibah me'et Hashem"—it was caused by G-d. G-d made it happen. So when we see kings making decisions, we must realize—they are literally puppets. The Sefer Chassidim also quotes another pasuk in Malachim א , Chapter 22:20, where G-d says, " מי יפתה את אחאב, הרי —who will seduce Achav ? G-d was speaking to His angels. An angel agreed and said, "I will. " It was the spirit of a certain person who had been killed. He said, " I will go down." The Sefer Chassidim explains: The angel tilts the thoughts, —to cause to think the thought שגוזר הקב"ה that G-d has decreed. So the brain is hijacked by the angel. It may look like the king is making a decision—but he is not. In the words of the Midrash Mishleh , Parashah 21: " עולה למלוכה לבו נתון בידו של הקב"ה. when a man rises to become a king, his heart is placed in the hands of G-d. If the world is merits, G-d causes him to issue good decrees; if not, bad ones. וכל גזירה שיוצאה מפיו אינה יוצאה לכתחלה אלא מלפני הקב"ה. any decree that leaves the king's mouth, does not go out unless G-d permits it. That's how controlled the king's words and decisions are. Rabbenu Yonah on Mishlei explains the reason behind this: Since שהרבים תלוין במלך, / The masses depend on the king —and G-d gave him the power to bring life or death, to do good or bad, שומר ה׳ את לבו שלא יטה רק לעשות גזרת ה׳ Hashem guards his heart so he will only be inclined to do G-d's will. Obviously, this is timely with what's going on with Trump, Khamenei, Netanyahu, and others. We must realize: it all falls under this principle of Lev Melech b'Yad Hashem.
What if your best body, clearest mind, and strongest sense of purpose were still ahead of you? That's the question I explore in this episode with Richard Rosenfeld, MD, MPH, MBA. He's a board-certified ENT, Director of Guidelines and Quality at the American College of Lifestyle Medicine, and one of the most published ENT researchers in the world—with nearly 400 peer-reviewed articles to his name. But what really sets Rich apart is his personal story. In his mid-50s, he hit a turning point—and decided to change course. He adopted a whole food, plant-based lifestyle. Picked up strength training again after decades off. Started running. Now, in his 60s, he's finished 10 marathons, lifts consistently, and says he feels sharper and more alive than ever. In This Episode, We Dive Into: What sparked Rich's midlife transformation How he fuels, trains, and recovers today Strength training after 50 and the role of protein and creatine His honest take on GLP-1 meds (like Wegovy and Zepbound) for weight loss And how mindset, curiosity, and purpose fuel long-term change We also talk about the culture of medicine—and what it'll take to build a system that actually supports health, not just disease management. This conversation is full of science-backed insight and lived experience. And it's a story that reminds you what's possible—no matter your starting point. Live well and RAK ON, Dr. Rak
Dvadsaťjeden ročný študent prišiel do svojej bývalej školy a zastrelil dokopy desať ľudí, ďalších jedenásť zranil. Neskôr sa sám zastrelil na školských toaletách. Nejde o ojedinelý prípad. Len pár mesiacov dozadu bývalý študent útočil aj v Spišskej Starej Vsi, kde o život pripravil študentku a zástupkyňu riaditeľa školy. Send us a textThe heart of the culinary industry isn't found in offices or award ceremonies – it's at the stove. Chef Brent Weathers proves this with every dish he creates and every truth bomb he drops in this refreshingly honest conversation about what really happens behind kitchen doors.Unlike many of his contemporaries who chase titles and management roles, Brent deliberately chose a different path. By remaining "titleless," he gained something far more valuable: direct mentorship from renowned chefs, opportunities to travel for pop-ups and restaurant openings, and the freedom to focus purely on craft. "I'm literally living my dream," Brent shares, explaining how his happiness comes from cooking rather than administrative duties.Through his social media series "Brentflix" and "Massaclass," Brent exposes the dysfunction that plagues professional kitchens – from improper food storage to careless handling practices. His unflinching documentation serves a crucial purpose: showing aspiring chefs the unvarnished reality of an industry often glamorized by television. Why do domesticated animals develop white fur? Why do they get floppy ears? My German shepherd excluded. Surprisingly, these seemingly random traits are common indicators of domestication and friendliness. But how does this relate to us humans?Today I'm speaking with Richard Wrangham, a distinguished primatologist and professor at Harvard University, whose influential research has deeply reshaped our understanding of human evolution. Wrangham has popularized the intriguing concept of “self-domestication” through extensive academic work and especially his acclaimed book, The Goodness Paradox: The Strange Relationship Between Virtue and Violence in Human Evolution (Profile books 2019).According to Wrangham, self-domestication is an evolutionary process where humans gradually evolved by selecting against impulsive aggression, making us more cooperative, social, and even influencing our moral decisions. Yet, paradoxically, he explains that this increased peacefulness coexists with an undiminished capacity for carefully planned violence, like warfare. We are, he argues, remarkably peaceful in daily interactions, yet simultaneously capable of organizing lethal aggression on a massive scale. In our conversation, we delve into what self-domestication truly involves, what bonobos and chimpanzees reveal about our behavior, and why understanding both reactive and proactive aggression is crucial today. Wrangham challenges many common assumptions about human nature, offering insightful explanations for both the peaceful cooperation and conflict seen in our societies. This discussion matters because it encourages us to reconsider our assumptions about what it means to be human, providing deeper insights into our past, our current social dynamics, and potentially, our future. In this conversation, Dr. Sahera Bleibleh explores everyday urbanism, analyzing how RAK's strategic location and tourism growth are increasing interest in revitalizing key aspects of the city's identity, such as its local markets.

Druhá epizóda podcastu Z tribúny priamo zo Štokholmu prináša ešte hlbší ponor do zákulisia MS v hokeji 2025. Porovnáva atmosféru v aréne s predchádzajúcimi turnajmi a vysvetľuje, prečo Lotyši aktuálne vytvárajú najlepšiu atmosféru zo všetkých fanúšikov.
Send us a textThe sizzle of fat dripping onto hot embers, the aromatic smoke wafting upward, and the unmistakable char marks on a perfectly grilled steak – few things speak more directly to our primal connection with food than cooking over live fire. For Chef Aaron Brooks, this elemental approach to cooking bridges his Australian roots and his current home in Miami's vibrant culinary landscape.Growing up on Australia's Gold Coast, Brooks found himself drawn to the kitchen rather than the famous surf breaks. Under his mother's guidance, he developed an appreciation for quality ingredients and the joy of bringing people together around a table. "Mom was always getting me to try new things," he recalls, describing how she embraced diverse cultural influences in her cooking. These early experiences laid the foundation for a culinary philosophy centered on simplicity, quality, and genuine hospitality.Brooks' journey from backpacking Australian cook to executive chef took him through Four Seasons properties in Vancouver, Boston, and finally Miami, where he spent years leading Edge Steak and Bar before making the leap to Sunny's Steakhouse in the city's burgeoning Little River District. This transition allowed him to return to his passion: hands-on cooking with a focus on exceptional ingredients prepared over live fire.At Sunny's, the elaborate grill system incorporates both an open hearth for seafood and a mangal specifically designed for meats. Brooks speaks with infectious enthusiasm about fire management – the careful maintenance of embers, the strategic positioning of different proteins, and the transformative flavor that comes from cooking over oak and charcoal. What if the answer to a healthier future… lay in the humble bean? In this episode of The Health Feast, Po and I sit down with Barbara Gates—a passionate educator, food activist, and founder of Healthy Kids Happy Planet. Barbara has spent the last two decades on a mission to bring joy, culture, and plant-based nutrition into schools across the country. Her journey began with a single act of advocacy as a mom pushing back on school milk policy—and grew into a statewide resolution promoting vegetarian meals, and eventually a nationally available classroom curriculum: Cool Beans from Around the World. With her theater background and contagious spirit, Barbara shows up in classrooms as “Queen Bean,” sings songs about lentils and legumes, and transforms nutrition education into a playful, empowering experience for kids of all backgrounds. In This Episode, We Dive Into: How school food policy became her unexpected calling The power of culture and storytelling in changing eating habits Why beans are nutritional superstars—and how to get kids excited about them What it takes to create a truly “happy planet” through food education Barbara doesn't just talk about change—she embodies it, one classroom, one child, and yes… one bean at a time. This episode is a celebration of what's possible when purpose meets creativity—and how even a single bean can start a movement. Live well and RAK ON, Dr. Rak

Send us a textWhen Chef Fionna España was told she should "just stay home" because she had "too many kids" to become a real chef, she didn't just push back—she made history. As the first female president of the LA chapter of the American Culinary Federation in over 100 years, this proud Latina executive chef has transformed barriers into stepping stones."I didn't realize that it was a male-dominant industry," Fionna reveals with characteristic candor. "I thought women belonged in the kitchen until I got my first job and didn't see a lot of women on the hot line." Rather than accepting these limitations, she used them as fuel, setting an ambitious goal to become an executive chef before 40—a milestone she achieved at 38.What sets Fionna apart isn't just breaking glass ceilings but how she's using her leadership to lift others. During the LA wildfires, she mobilized resources to raise over $20,000 in just one week for first responders. "I used my powers for good," she reflects during a rare moment of self-acknowledgment. This community focus extends to her approach with the next generation of culinary professionals, whom she encourages to balance work ethic with self-care.Meanwhile, Chef Thomas Parker dazzles with his culinary wizardry, presenting three show-stopping dishes including a mojo-crusted carne asada filet and molecular gastronomy creations that left the studio speechless. His "green eggs and lamb" tribute featuring avocado spherification demonstrates the magic that happens when technical mastery meets playful creativity.Together, these chefs represent the beautiful duality of today's culinary landscape—honoring tradition while boldly innovating, breaking barriers whilIntroducing the SupraCut System - the automated solution that enhances safety, quality, and efficiency, cutting up to 120 perfect citrus wedges per minute, 6 times faster than manual. Send us a textWhen adversity strikes, some crumble under its weight while others transform it into remarkable opportunity. At just 21 years old, Chef Christian Barruos-Brens exemplifies the latter, having built a thriving culinary career from the most challenging circumstances life could throw his way.Christian's remarkable journey began at 16 when his mother's cancer diagnosis became the catalyst for discovering his culinary calling. Rather than succumbing to despair, he began selling homemade treats from a duffel bag in school bathrooms, earning the nickname "the duffel man" while supporting his family through crisis. When COVID hit, he pivoted to Uber Eats, demonstrating the entrepreneurial spirit that would become his hallmark. The invention of Christian's signature "Cafecito Brownie" reveals the emotional foundation of his culinary perspective. After his father's unexpected passing, Christian channeled his grief into creating a Cuban coffee-infused brownie that honored their shared morning ritual of enjoying coffee together. This creation went on to win awards at major Miami food festivals, competing against established professionals despite Christian being the youngest competitor and still a culinary student. What sets Christian apart isn't just his cooking skills but his remarkable media savvy and presence. His victory on a Colombian cooking show (despite language barriers and altitude sickness) led to work behind the scenes on an Emmy-winning production. Throughout our conversation, his natural charisma and surprising wisdom reveal why he's destined for bigger platforms.Christian's future plans include expanding his catering company, developing his food cart business, anIntroducing the SupraCut System - the automated solution that enhances safety, quality, and efficiency, cutting up to 120 perfect citrus wedges per minute, 6 times faster than manual.
