Friends of the Rosary, In today's Gospel (Mark 5:21–43), Jesus insists on the salvific power of the faith. He gives us two proofs of the Lord's divine power and infinite mercy. These are only some of the many miracles Our Lord performed. "Daughter, your faith has saved you." He said to the hemorrhaging woman in pain who couldn't even participate in ordinary life because she was considered unclean. The Lord proves once again his compassionate understanding and sympathy for suffering humanity. Unfortunately, many Christians continue ignoring the power of the faith. They do not have the humility and confidence of Jairus, the synagogue official whose daughter was healed. Jairus's faith is the only way to participate fully in life. Ave Maria!Jesus, I Trust In You! Come, Holy Spirit, come! To Jesus through Mary! + Mikel Amigot | RosaryNetwork.com, New York • June 30, 2024, Today's Rosary on YouTube | Daily broadcast at 7:30 pm ET
Friends of the Rosary, In our weakness, sickness, and sin, we can feel like the leper of the Gospel healed by Jesus (MT 8:1-4). Essentially, we feel not worthy or deserving of God's love. One of the biggest lies ever told by darkness is precisely this: that God doesn't love us because of our sins. The Sacred Heart of Jesus prefers the most sinners. That's how Divine Mercy operates. The leper who came to Jesus and worshiped Him was an outsider, a despised figure — yet he came to Jesus. "Lord, if you wish, you can make me clean."He stretched out his hand, touched him, and said, “I will do it. Be made clean."His leprosy was cleansed immediately. Ave Maria!Jesus, I Trust In You! Come, Holy Spirit, come! To Jesus through Mary! + Mikel Amigot | RosaryNetwork.com, New York • June 28, 2024, Today's Rosary on YouTube | Daily broadcast at 7:30 pm ET
Friends of the Rosary, Jesus said to his disciples (Matthew 7:21–29): "Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,' will enter the Kingdom of Heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father in Heaven.""Everyone who listens to these words of mine and acts on themwill be like a wise man who built his house on rock."The rain fell, the floods came, and the winds blew and buffeted the house. But it did not collapse; it had been set solidly on rock. And everyone who listens to these words of minebut does not act on themwill be like a fool who built his house on sand. The rain fell, the floods came, and the winds blew and buffeted the house. And it collapsed and was completely ruined." By following God's commands, we can withstand anything, regardless of the winds and floods — the trials and temptations — we face. Having our life linked with God means building a house solidly on rock. Ave Maria!Jesus, I Trust In You!St. Josemaría Escrivá, Pray for Us! Come, Holy Spirit, come! To Jesus through Mary! + Mikel Amigot | RosaryNetwork.com, New York • June 27, 2024, Today's Rosary on YouTube | Daily broadcast at 7:30 pm ET
Friends of the Rosary, Today, the Catholic Church celebrates the memorial of St. Josemaría Escrivá (1902-1975). He was a Spaniard priest who founded Opus Dei. He helped the faithful sanctify themselves amid the world by performing ordinary work and daily duties with a Christian spirit. "St. Josemaría was chosen by the Lord to proclaim the universal call to holiness and to indicate that everyday life, its customary activities, are a path towards holiness. It could be said that he was the saint of the ordinary," said Pope John Paul II. He died on June 26, 1975, and was canonized as a saint on October 6, 2002. Ave Maria!Jesus, I Trust In You!St. Josemaría Escrivá, Pray for Us! Come, Holy Spirit, come! To Jesus through Mary! + Mikel Amigot | RosaryNetwork.com, New York • June 26, 2024, Today's Rosary on YouTube | Daily broadcast at 7:30 pm ET
Friends of the Rosary, Our attention should be redirected to the treasures of Heaven and the eternity of our souls. When we examine our physical reality in the light of God and with the eyes of the faith, we love things with limited expectations. It's the wise way to avoid much disappointment. At this point, Jesus said to his disciples (Mt 6:19-23), as we read last week: “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and decay destroy, and thieves break in and steal. But store up treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor decay destroys, nor thieves break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there also will your heart be.” “The lamp of the body is the eye, but if your eye is bad, your whole body will be in darkness.” Ave Maria!Jesus, I Trust In You!St. John the Baptist, Pray for Us! Come, Holy Spirit, come! To Jesus through Mary! + Mikel Amigot | RosaryNetwork.com, New York • June 25, 2024, Today's Rosary on YouTube | Daily broadcast at 7:30 pm ET
Friends of the Rosary, Today, we celebrate the solemnity of the Nativity of John the Baptist, the Precursor or Forerunner of the Lord. John the Baptist is the prophet of hope. He was born, lived, and died to prepare the way for the Good News. The Catholic Church observes a saint's feast day on the day of his death because that day marks his entrance into heaven. However, there are two exceptions: the birthdays of Blessed Mary and St. John the Baptist. Mary, already in the first moment of her existence, was free from original sin, and John was cleansed of original sin in the womb of his mother. John the Baptist spent his adult life preparing the way for Jesus and proclaiming that "the Kingdom of Heaven is close at hand." John represented the Old Covenant and the Law. The Lord willed to announce to men His own coming through the Baptist. John was born to Zachary and Elizabeth, an elderly married couple. Elizabeth was Mary's cousin, and Zachary was a priest of the Temple in Jerusalem. As a baby in the womb, John recognized Jesus' presence in Mary's womb when Mary visited Elizabeth soon after the Annunciation. Both women were pregnant at the same time. John was probably born in Ain-Karim, southwest of Jerusalem. As a young adult, he lived as a hermit in the desert of Judea until about A.D. 27. When he was 30, he began preaching for repentance and baptizing people in the river waters. When Jesus came to John to be baptized, John recognized Jesus as the Messiah and baptized Him. John continued to preach after Jesus was baptized but was imprisoned not long after by Herod Antipas after he denounced the king's adulterous marriage with Herodias, wife of his half-brother Philip. John was beheaded at the request of Salome, daughter of Herodias. Many, namely the apostles Andrew and John, came to know Jesus through John. Friends of the Rosary, Today, on the optional memorial days of Saint John Fisher, bishop and martyr, and Saint Thomas More, martyr, we learn through the Gospel of Matthew (Mt 6:24-34) to seek the Kingdom of Heaven and its treasures first. Jesus is saying to his disciples: "Seek first the Kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be given you besides.Do not worry about tomorrow; tomorrow will take care of itself.Sufficient for a day is its own evil." Through the gift of faith, we open ourselves to what God will reveal and invite. We entrust our lives completely to the all-powerful God,not worrying and depending on him. Friends of the Rosary, Our Father sees everything that is hidden and repays abundantly beyond our imagination. He has complete power over our souls, and He does everything necessary for our eternal joy — as long as we trust in Him and surrender. In today's reading (Mt 6:1-6, 16-18), Christ Jesus said to his disciples: “Take care not to perform righteous deeds so that people may see them; otherwise, you will have no recompense from your heavenly Father.” We do not blow trumpets when giving alms, praying, or fasting. We do not seek any praise from others. We only work to glorify the Father, the Son, the Holy Spirit, and His spouse, our Blessed Mother in Heaven. Ave Maria!Jesus, I Trust In You! Friends of the Rosary, In the Sermon on the Mount (Mt 5:43-48), Lord Jesus encourages us to "Be perfect, just as your heavenly Father is perfect." Our heavenly Father makes the sun rise on the bad and the good and loves all of his children. Can we love our enemies and pray for those who persecute us? That's a measure of perfection. And what's love? Willing the good of the other, including those who cannot or will not pay us back. Jews, Romans, Pharisees, Sadducees, his disciples — everyone — betrayed, denied him, and most actively arranged for his death. And yet these are the very people He loves, the very people he gives his life to. This is how the Divinity loves us. This is how we must love others. Ave Maria!Jesus, I Trust In You! Friends of the Rosary, Yesterday, we heard about the parable of the mustard seed (Mark 4:26–34). The parable shows that God's Word, though small in appearance, has incredible transformative power. Even a small amount of faith can lead to great things. Since birth, a seed of faith has been planted in us. It's our mission to nourish and fertilize this seed so we can grow in our relationship with Christ Jesus. We cultivate Christian virtues through prayer, acts of charity, and forgiveness until we become the best possible version of ourselves. Our good Lord works quietly and gradually with us to lead us to expand beyond our imagined limits. Ave Maria!Jesus, I Trust In You! Come, Holy Spirit, come! Friends of the Rosary, Happy Father's Day!We thank God for all the men who fulfill a fatherly role in someone's life. All fathers are — or should be — a reflection of the love of God the Father. All fathers — natural fathers, stepfathers, and priests — must grow the Kingdom of Heaven. In today's Sunday gospel (Mark 4:26–34), Christ Jesus explains the parable of the mustard seed, which illustrates how God tends to work quietly, gradually, from the very small to the great. "When it is sown in the ground,is the smallest of all the seeds on the earth. But once it is sown, it springs up and becomes the largest of plantsand puts forth large branches,so that the birds of the sky can dwell in its shade." Friends of the Rosary, On June 13, 1917, on the feast day of St. Anthony of Padua, Mary appeared for a second time to the children at Fatima and asked Lucia to learn how to read and write. She told them, "Soon, I will take Jacinta and Francisco, but Lucia is to stay longer." To Lucia, she said, "Don't be discouraged; I will never abandon you. My Immaculate Heart will be your refuge and the road leading you to God”"Jesus wishes to use you to make me known and loved. He wishes to establish devotion to my Immaculate Heart in the world. I promise salvation to those who embrace it, and these souls will be beloved of God like flowers arranged by me to adorn His throne." Lucia writes, ”Upon saying these last words, she opened her hands, and for the second time, she communicated to us the reflection of that intense light. We could see ourselves in it as if immersed in God. Jacinta and Francisco seemed to be in the part of this light that went up toward heaven, and I in the part that was cast toward the ground. In front of Our Lady's right hand was a heart encircled by thorns that seemed to pierce it. We understood that it was the Immaculate Heart of Mary, insulted by the sins of humanity and which desires reparation." Ave Maria!Jesus, I Trust In You! Come, Holy Spirit, come! Friends of the Rosary, Today is the Memorial of St. Anthony of Padua (1195-1231), a Doctor of the Church and one of the most popular saints. Born in Lisbon, he was an excellent theologian and a popular preacher, inspired by the love of God and souls. He vigorously opposed heresy with a deep knowledge of the Bible. Pope Gregory IX called him the Arca Testamenti, meaning “the living repository of the Holy Scriptures,” and Pope Pius XII. From the day of his death — very young, at 36, in Padua, Italy— the faithful invoke him, and innumerable miracles are attributed to his intercession. Women invoke St. Anthony in search of good husbands, so if you're single and searching for a spouse, today is a good day to visit a church or shrine dedicated to St. Anthony and make your petition! Friends of the Rosary, During June, we highlight our devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. This devotion is a deep recognition of Jesus' love and willingness to suffer and sacrifice for the redemption of every one of us. It emphasizes the immense love and compassion that Jesus Christ has for humanity. The burning heart of Jesus is often encircled by a crown of thorns, representing the suffering and sacrifice He endured for the sins of the world. The flames signify His intense love and desire to draw all people to His heart, offering them His mercy and grace. In the 13th century, on the feast of St. John the Evangelist, St. Gertrude had a vision in which she was allowed to rest her head near the wound on the Savior's side. She heard the beating of the Divine Heart and asked John if, on the night of the Last Supper, he, too, had felt this beating heart. If so, why had he never spoken of the fact? John replied that this revelation had been reserved for subsequent ages when the world, having grown cold, would have needed to rekindle its love. Ave Maria! Jesus, I Trust In You! Friends of the Rosary, Today, June 11, we celebrate the memorial day of St. Barnabas. Though not one of the 12 apostles chosen by the Lord Jesus, he is traditionally regarded as one of the 72 disciples of Christ. He was responsible for welcoming St. Paul into the Church. St. Barnabas was born to wealthy Jewish parents on the Greek-speaking island of Cyprus, probably around Christ's birth. He studied at the school of Gamaliel (who also taught St. Paul). Later on, when Christ's public ministry began, Barnabas may have been among those who heard him preach in person. At some point, either during Christ's ministry or after his death and resurrection, Barnabas decided to commit himself most radically to the teachings he had received. He sold the large estate he had inherited, contributed the proceeds entirely to the Church, and joined Christ's other apostles in holding all of their possessions in common. Both Paul and Barnabas received a calling from God to become the “Apostles of the Gentiles,” preaching and suffering persecution and hardships for the sake of establishing Christianity among those of a non-Jewish background. The reference to the “laying-on of hands” in Acts, chapter 13, suggests that Paul and Barnabas may have been consecrated as bishops on this occasion. Barnabas was stoned to death by a mob in Cyprus around the year 62. St. Luke described Barnabas as “a good man, full of the Holy Spirit and faith (Acts 6:24).” He was known for his exceptional kindliness, personal sanctity, and openness to pagans. Ave Maria! Friends of the Rosary, In today's reading (Matthew 5:1–12), Christ Jesus ascends the mountain like Moses in the Old Testament when he receives the Commandments. The difference is that Jesus is giving a new law—or, better yet, explaining the fulfillment of the law of the prophets. Our Lord taught us the Beatitudes, from the Latin noun beātitūdō, meaning “happy” or “blessed.” For example, when He said, "Blessed are the poor in spirit," it means: “How lucky you are if you are not addicted to material things.” “Jesus is telling us how to realize our deepest desire, which is the desire for God and not for passing things that only bring temporary comfort," wrote Bishop Barron. Friends of the Rosary, Today, on the Saturday following the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart, we celebrate the Memorial of the Immaculate Heart of Mary. In 1944, during the Second World War, Pius XII instituted this feast to obtain, through Mary's intercession, “peace among nations, freedom for the Church, the conversion of sinners, the love of purity and the practice of virtue.” At that time, Pius XII put the whole world under the special protection of Mary by consecrating it to her Immaculate Heart. However, this devotion is not new. Simeon's prophecy, with its representation of Mary's heart pierced with a sword, paved the way for this devotion. The Holy Virgin “cooperated through charity,” as St. Augustine says, “in the work of our redemption.” Today, the Immaculate Heart expresses Mary's interior life, including her joys and sorrows, virtues, and hidden perfections. It's a living reminder of her virginal love for God, maternal love for her Divine Son, and compassionate love for her sinful children below. Ave Maria!Jesus, I Trust In You! Come, Holy Spirit, come! Friends of the Rosary, There were hundreds of laws in the Jewish system. (Mk 12:28-34) "One of the scribes came to Jesus and asked him,"Which is the first of all the commandments?"Jesus replied, "The first is this:Hear, O Israel! The Lord our God is Lord alone! You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength. The second is this:You shall love your neighbor as yourself. There is no other commandment greater than these." The Law is finally about love, and the love of God and neighbor are tightly connected. Christ Jesus, full God, and full man shows divinity and humanity coming together in him."Therefore, it's impossible to love him as God without loving the humanity that he's created and embraced," writes Bishop Barron. Friends of the Rosary, As we read yesterday, “Repay to Caesar what belongs to Caesar and God what belongs to God," said Jesus when the Pharisees inquired (Mark 12:13–17). The Holy Trinity is the source of everything, from politics and law to science and technology. Everything comes from God and returns to God. St. Thomas Aquinas said that law comes from the eternal law, which is identical to the mind of God. This eternal law is reflected in the human mind and heart. Politics are concrete applications. Politics is related to God, and therefore, we should expect judges, politicians, and those in public office to act according to moral principles. Ave Maria!Jesus, I Trust In You! Friends of the Rosary, As St. Peter instructs us in his second letter (2 Pt 3:12-15a, 17-18), we should "grow in grace and the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ." "Wait for and hasten the coming of the day of God,because of which the heavens will be dissolved in flamesand the elements melted by fire. But according to his promise,we await new heavens and a new earthin which righteousness dwells." Our challenge is to await this tribulation at peace, considering "the patience of our Lord as salvation." We learn from St. Paul, who, in his second letter to Corinthians, stated, "I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and constraints, for the sake of Christ; for when I am weak, then I am strong." Friends of the Rosary, Today, on the Sunday after Trinity Sunday, we celebrate the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ, the Corpus Christi. In today's Eucharistic solemnity, we focus on the spiritual power of the Eucharist and commemorate the institution of that sacrament. As we read today in (Mark 14:22-24): "While they were eating, he took bread, said the blessing, broke it, gave it to them, and said, "Take it; this is my body." Then he took a cup, gave thanks, and gave it to them, and they all drank from it. He said to them, "This is my blood of the covenant, which will be shed for many." This passage shows that Jesus Christ's presence is not symbolic and evocative, but rather true and real. It's the doctrine of the Real Presence, which is central to the Church of God. Christ is substantially present in the forms of bread and wine in the consecrated host. "Unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you do not have life within you," said the Son of God in John's chapter sixth. Christ gives us His own body and we become what we receive. With the Eucharist, we are transformed into Him, sharing His divinity. Ave Maria!Jesus, I Trust In You! Come, Holy Spirit, come! Friends of the Rosary, The month of June is full of riches, graces, and celebrations. It's the month of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, whose feast day we will celebrate this Friday, June 7. Through the Devotion to the Sacred Heart, given to St. Margaret Mary Alocoque, Christ Himself puts an immense amount of faith in us by calling us to venerate his most adorable Heart. On the day after, Saturday, June 8, we will honor the Immaculate Heart of Mary. Then, on June 24, we will celebrate the nativity day of John the Baptist, meaning that Christ's own birthday is six months away. Finally, at the end of the month, we will have the feast day of Saints Peter and Paul. Ave Maria!Jesus, I Trust In You! Come, Holy Spirit, come!
