This epistle (letter) is to Timothy. Timothy is now the teacher/rabbi who has received a letter from Paul (Timothy's Rabbi) in response to questions. The nature of the issues that Paul had to address were mostly Jewish and reflects the Messianic speculations that were present among the Jews of the Second Temple period. Here, Paul wants the believers to understand that the tribulations they are facing do not point to the end of the world. He revisits some of the same issues found in his first epistle. Paul tells the believers once again to work for a living and not to be busybodies. Finally, he reassures the believers that someday good will prevail and God will make right all injustices and wrongs. In 2 Thessalonians chapter 2, Paul is again explaining the rapture to this congregation, probably because they received a letter leading them astray. I don't know if it was signed with Paul's name but it was a fake. So once again, Paul reassures them that the Day of The Lord is in the future and that good will prevail and God will make right all the injustices and wrongs. So, again, Paul explains about the rapture and the timing of it. He requests the believers to put on the Armor of God and to pray without ceasing.
