Teju Abisoye is the Executive Secretary (ES) of the Lagos State Employment Trust Fund (LSETF), delivering on programs targeted at tackling unemployment in Lagos, Nigeria. She is a lawyer with over 14 years of extensive experience in development finance, evaluation of humanitarian projects, government interventions, and investment. Ms. Abisoye holds an LLM, International Trade and Investment Law from the University of Pretoria, and an LLB from the University of Ibadan.
By establishing her NGO Pearls Africa Foundation, Abisoye Ajayi Akinfolarin has provided numerous girls access to training in technology among other things, and has worked tirelessly to close the technological gender gap in her community. Abisoye Ajayi-Akinfolarin is the founder of Pearls Africa Foundation. Pearls Africa Foundation is a non-governmental organization that provides young girls living in underserved communities through training in technology, skill acquisitions and mentorship. One of their projects, “GirlsCoding” has reached more than 400 beneficiaries, including girls from orphanages and correctional homes, in addition to young women fleeing the Boko Haram insurgency. Abisoye was recently named “CNN Hero of the Year”. This year, she joins nine other people in the world who will receive $10,000 in support of their heroic endeavours.
