2005 Doctor Who episode
POPULARITY
After concluding our Eccleston re-watch, we now begin our David Tennant reexamination. First up is “The Christmas Invasion” where a practically comatose Doctor saves the planet from said invasion... all whilst it's just another day for the majority of the planet. Followed by "New Earth" where the Doctor and Rose visit New Earth (oh... clever...) 23 years after Earth original flavor blowed up real good. Finally ending on "Tooth and Claw" by traveling back to 19th century Scotland where they meet up with Queen Victoria, Ninja Monks (Monk Ninjas?), and a werewolf. You may be amused which of those become the sworn enemy of the Doctor.

Today, Fan Effect explores “What’s your favorite fandom?” with KSL Newsradio's Becky Bruce and Heather Kelly. With the TARDIS launching a new “Doctor Who” on DisneyPlus in May 2024, it's the perfect time to explore The Doctor’s 60-year-plus history, where to start watching, and what you need to know to start your journey as a Whovian. Or, if you are already familiar with this fandom, how can you get others into it? While we minimize spoilers, producer KellieAnn was instructed to watch the following episodes in this order before recording, which offered a great way to enter the fandom: "Blink", “Christmas Invasion,” “The Girl in the Fireplace,” and “The Unquiet Dead.” The brains behind Fan Effect are connoisseurs of categories surpassing nerdy with a goal to publish a weekly "What to Watch on the Weekend" minisodes taken from KSL-TV's Friday segment, and two deep-dives a month on shows, creative works, artists, local events, and other fandom topics. Based in the beautiful beehive state, Fan Effect celebrates Utah's unique fan culture as it has been declared The Nerdiest State in America by TIME, and is hosted by KSL Movie Show's Andy Farnsworth and KSL Podcasts' KellieAnn Halvorsen. Listen regularly on your favorite platform, at kslnewsradio.com, kslpodcasts.com, or on the KSL NewsRadio App. Join the conversation and get the latest 'nerdly' news on Facebook @FanEffectShow. Sunday 25 December 2005. The Christmas Invasion. Just nine months after Doctor Who's twenty-first century iteration burst triumphantly onto our screens, we all get together with Steven B to watch as the BBC's flagship drama introduces its exciting new lead to nearly 10 million viewers on Christmas Day on BBC One. It ends up going pretty well.

This is very Christmassey. It was recorded at Christmas time. But - shockingly, it was recorded at Last Christmas time. Not the episode Last Christmas - but yer actual Last Christmas. But this year, to save you from tears, it is being released at the correct time of year (even though, as you'll hear, host Toby had no idea when it would be released when he recorded it). So this was recoreded during our first year of the modern era without a festive period Doctor Who at all! So we definitely needed a reminder of when all of this was new. Comedian Ben Pope was a mere boy when he watched this go out - and he was hooked. So will he have a different perspective on its merits than old Father Time(lord) Toby Hadoke? Let's see what gifts are in The Christmas Invasion's stocking....
David Tennant's first story as the Doctor, and Cassie's first time losing her mind! There's something for everyone in this stocking stuffer of an episode!

Merry Christmas everyone and welcome David Tenant. Christopher Ecclestone is out and David Tenant is in... bed for most of the episode. Deadly trees, killer Santas and a Prime Minister ruining the country.Wow and a year since the Queen of England died. Coincidentally, she doesn't give a queens speech this episode because she's about to jump off the roof. Weird that this episode would release on the anniversary of the death of the queen of England. Wonder if it means anything. It's Christmas baby. Merry Christmas, again! For the second week in a row, we've got a very special holiday episode. This time, it's the series 2 Christmas special, "The Christmas Invasion"! It's the first Tenth Doctor episode, and he's got a lot to learn about himself, once he's done snoozing. Meanwhile, Earth is being attacked by mostly-irrelevant Santabots and mainly the Sycorax.
