This episode discusses numerous tactics and values we can learn from how the Avos were Mechanech their children.
The converts may have reverted to paganism but the impact would still be felt.

Send me a text!Length: 1 hour 57 minutesSynopsis: This evening (12/11/25), in our Thursday night Pirkei Avos shiur for women, we learned one of my favorite Rambam passages of all time: his mini-discourse on friendship. I can honestly say that this was the most comprehensive shiur I've ever given on the topic. We took the mishnah, raised every question we could, then read the Rambam, raised every question we could on that, and then answered all of them. I mentioned in shiur that the first time I learned this Rambam, it permanently shaped how I think about all relationships, and that each time I revisit it, I walk away with a clearer understanding. Tonight's shiur proved that once again.-----מקורות:אבות א:ו; ה:טזרמב"םר' יצחק שילת - ביאור לפירוש רמב"ם למשנה-----This week's Torah content is sponsored by Rifka Kaplan-Peck in memory of her grandpa, Izrail Kaplan (a”h), who never forgot to look up above and appreciate another day.-----If you've gained from what you've learned here, please consider contributing to my Patreon at www.patreon.com/rabbischneeweiss. The number fifteen corresponds to letters Yud-Kei of the Name Havayah, which represent Chochmah and Binah (which is the unique contribution of Chassidus Chabad: linking the service of the heart (which is the contribution of Chassidus in general) to the intellect). Concerning the future era it says, “on that day will be (יהיה)” – Yud-Kei twice – indicating that at that time the letters Vov-Kei will be like the letters Yud-Kei. And based on the Gemara's statement, “Three were given in this world a taste of the World to Come…Avrohom, of whom it is written bakol (“with everything”); Yitzchok, of whom it is written mikol (“from everything”); and Yaakov, of whom it is written kol (“everything”),” we can understand why they overlapped for fifteen years. (The amazing thing is that everyone says in Birkas Hamazon, “As He blessed our forefathers Avrohom, Yitzchok, and Yaakov bakol, mikol, kol – so may He bless us….”) Similarly, it could be said about the three Avos of Chassidus and the revelation of the inner dimension of Torah. Not only did Avrohom's service involve tzedakah, but also that of Yitzchok, and all the more so Yaakov – the middle path, who merited “a boundless portion.”2 excerpts from farbrengen of 18 Elul 5741 For a transcript in English of the Sicha: https://thedailysicha.com/?date=20-11-2025

Send me a text!Length: 1 hour 29 minutesSynopsis: This evening (11/13/25), in our Thursday night Pirkei Avos shiur for women, we continued with the clause we worked on last time. We spent the first part of shiur reviewing everything we covered last time, answering the questions we left off with and sharpening some of the insights we had. Then we moved on to the Meiri, who gave us several different interpretations of the first two clauses of the mishnah. We read and discussed all of them but one, and were intrigued by how different of an approach he took. There remains at least one more idea in the Meiri. We'll see where we go after that.-----מקורות:אבות ד:טזרש"ירמב"םרבינו יונהרמב"ם - משנה תורה: הקדמהרש"י - קהלת יב:י-יבמאירי-----This week's Torah content is sponsored by Joey and Estee Lichter in commemoration of the yahrzeits of Joey's mother, Faiga bas Yehuda, and Estee's father, Yisroel ben R' Moshe.-----If you've gained from what you've learned here, please consider contributing to my Patreon at www.patreon.com/rabbischneeweiss. Have any questions, insights, or feedback? Send me a text!Length: 1 hour 29 minutesSynopsis: This evening (11/6/25), in our Thursday night Pirkei Avos shiur for women, we went back and learned the beginning of the mishnah we started last week. We spent most of the time mining the depths of Rashi on the first clause-and-half. We then moved on to Rambam and Rabbeinu Yonah, attempting to compare and contrast them to discern how much they overlapped ... but then I got tired because of the clock change and ended shiur. Our plan is to come back for another pass on that next week, then move on to the second clause.-----מקורות:אבות ד:טזרש"ירמב"ם - הקדמה לפירוש המשניותרמב"םרבינו יונהרמב"ם - משנה תורה: ספר המדע, הלכות תלמוד תורה ג:יב-----If you're interested in sponsoring my Torah content for one or more weeks this month, please let me know! Chelek Chof Hey, page 19: Dont give up on anyoneThis sicha learning is in zchus of a Refuah Sheleima for Levi HaLevi ben Leah!In this week's sicha the Rebbe explores why Noach didn't daven for his generation as Moshe later did. Reb Yehuda explains that this wasn't Noach's fault, he simply lived before the Avos, whose merit empowered Moshe's prayers. Reb Yitzchak, however, argues that even without those merits, Noach still should have prayed for others; somehow, he could have found a way to arouse mercy for his generation. Reb Levik explains that these two views reflect their inner traits: Reb Yehuda's chessed versus Reb Yitzchak's gevurah. We know dan l'kaf zechus- judging others favorably - isn't only for those with a kind nature; it's a rule for every Jew, no matter their temperament. The discussion parallels Rashi's comment on “Noach ish tzadik bedorosav” - was Noach righteous only in his generation or would he have been even greater among true tzadikim? If the Torah prefers positive language, why mention a possible negative? The Rebbe explains that when Torah describes a person, it always uses positive language, but when it teaches a lesson, clarity takes priority - even if it sounds critical. Guidelines must be clear. Here the Torah isn't telling us biographical details about Noach, but giving us guidance: to learn from Noach's limits, not to imitate them. Noach did the best he could in his generation, but for us the lesson is not to stop at “I did my part.” Like Reb Yitzchak emphasizes, we must never give up on anyone; even when a situation seems hopeless, we can, and must, continue to daven and reach out. This teaching carries powerful relevance today. Sometimes we feel we've tried everything to inspire others or fix a situation, and we tell ourselves it's out of our hands. But the Rebbe reminds us: don't stop praying, don't stop believing, and don't stop caring. The very act of staying committed brings divine mercy and opens new channels of blessing. Just as Moshe, a man of emes, wanted us to follow in Aharon's ways of peace, we can “do Noach a favor” by learning from his story and choosing differently - never giving up on a fellow Jew, always believing in the possibility of change, and bringing closer the time when “no Jew will ever be lost again.”
