CINEMATIC VIOLENCE WILL BE CELEBRATED IN A WAY WHICH WILL DISTURB SOME LISTENERS.  TGTPTU returns to its regularly scheduled Squib Games (S15) with the earlier of its latest temporal pincer movement pairing, TO LIVE AND DIE IN LA (1985).  Directed by William Friedkin, this is another Big Willie movie but not a Wyler: the second William has the credited surname of Peterson and this is his first film. William Peterson was so new to film acting that he called his fellow Chicagoan thespian buddy John Malkovich to see what he should quote as his asking price to play the lead character of Richard Chance, a thrill-seeking Secret Service agent who'll lose his partner only days from retirement (red-shirted partner's, not Chance's) and will get a new partner in John Pankow's Agent John Vukovich to pervert in his (Chance's) vengeful pursuit of a counterfeiter played by Willem Dafoe. (Next year Peterson would play another officer of the law in Manhunter as covered during TGTPTU's Mann Aged Season {S5,E5}; as an EPISODE CORRECTION Pankow did not portray Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart in Miloš Forman's film Amadeus but had done so at the Broadhurst Theatre, replacing Tim Curry.)  Because it's a Friedkin flick, there's an epic car chase meant to top The French Connection; because it's shot from a Friedkin script (adapted from a novel by former Secret Service agent Gerald Petievich, who receives a cowriting credit), there was a lot of improvisation on set driven by the actors, with both the ending and opening scenes re/written during shooting. Mentioning actors, the film is stacked with supporting roles by Dean Stockwell, John Turturro (who'll get more mention later in Season 15), and the Michael Mann-created film noir for television Crime Story's very own Darlanne Fluegel (listen back to S5,E6 for insights on this TV series).   TGTPTU hosts become split on the merits of the film. Thomas describes the movie as The Friends of Eddie Coyle (1973) on neon cocaine, but—no spoilers—you'll have to listen to the ep for whether he believes this is a good thing. Also, Jack lets out the three-legged dog and Ryan, while finding it impossible to resist singing the title, has issue with William Pederson. Dogs Of The Tour! Why are teams avoiding the break in the first week of the Tour de France and we go through the best and worst bikes of the race? Con la resaca de Eurobike la actualidad no se ha detenido, y mucho menos si tenemos en cuenta que acaba de empezar el Tour de Francia (y sí, lo ha hecho con polémica entre la organizadora -A.S.O.- y la gente de Procyclingstats). Cervélo ha aprovechado para presentar la nueva S5, su bici “aero” y rodadora que ahora es más rápida y ligera gracias a las mejoras realizadas tanto en el cuadro como en el cockpit HB19 que tanto llama la atención. Specialized nos anunció las nuevas Roval Rapide que se presentaron con más perfil en la delantera que en la trasera. Te explicamos por qué lo han hecho así. También presentó el nuevo sillín S-Works Power EVO con tecnología Mirror 3D. Van Rysel, la marca del grupo Decathlon, ha presentado una “gran fondo” muy interesante como es la EDR CF Ultra que, en su montaje tope de gama, incluye el buje con dinamo de DT Swiss para alimentar a las luces de la bicicleta; pero es que, además, el peso de su cuadro es de sólo 830 g. Canyon también ha presentado algunas cosas interesantes estos días, pero lo que más nos ha llamado la atención han sido la nueva Endurace ON:Fly, una e-bike de carretera ¡de menos de 10 kg! Y la nueva Grizl, que también “aterriza” con un manillar, el Full Mounty, que no dejará indiferente a nadie (que, por cierto, también cuenta con un montaje con buje delantero con dinamo y luces). Trek ha presentado la versión en aluminio de la Checkpoint, la gravel más viajera y aventurera de la marca. Y otros que han lanzado una versión en aluminio ha sido BH, que nos ha presentado su iLynx+ SL con cuadro “metálico” y motor Shimano EP6 en los montajes más accesibles para llegar a más público. Mondraker ha tenido su ración de actualidad también con nuevos montajes para la Crafty Carbon de 2026 y la 3ª generación de la Level, su e-bike de enduro más cañera. Por su parte, el grupo SRAM sigue ampliando su cartera de marcas y ha comprado a la marca italiana Ochain, conocida por su sistema que “separa” la biela del plato permitiendo que la transmisión siga girando cuando nosotros dejamos de pedalear. Season 5 is just about ready to launch, we are working on small details with collars, hoping we land them (send prayers) but even if we don't… by April season 5 will be born! Why?? Because you matter, I matter and to cause and Effect in this world, we must do things that we are not use to. Being uncomfortable, doing things that are not the ordinary, challenging each others, ourselves is key to not landing on our “comfort zone”. That area is so dangerous, its where procrastination, anxiety, depression, lack of self worth, and other bad influences are at. I want a space like the MAC Effect and other similar podcast, books, churches and friendships that are uplifting, motivating, involved, lead by example, teach me and want what's best for me, for you… to heal, to grow and develop benefits you and your surroundings.
