It is an honor and a privilege to welcome back Ethan Zohn to The Jake's Take with Jacob Elyachar Podcast. Since its inception, GRS has expanded to 60 countries in Africa and worldwide, has graduated 13 million youth, and has worked with scores of public—and private-sector partners.He also raised his voice to fight cancer.  Cancer-free since 2012, Ethan Zohn has been a voice for fighters, survivors, and caregivers of all ages, even chronicling the gritty details of his entire cancer experience for People Magazine. While undergoing treatment, he ran and finished the New York City and Boston marathons to help spread messages of hope and resilience to the world. Ethan is a champion for investment in new medical research and technology. He is an advisor to numerous hospitals and foundations, such as Cancer Buddy, the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, and Memorial Sloan Kettering. As demonstrated by his charitable work, tzedakah, and community involvement, Ethan believes that Jewish values can achieve a better and healthier world. Y desquiciados con nosotros mismos, contra los árbitros y contra los griegos del Olympiakos que ciertamente merecieron ganar siendo muy superiores. En ACB victoria cómoda y sin esforzarnos en demasía contra un flojo y desacertado equipo de Andorra que valió para ahorrar esfuerzos de nuestras piezas clave y sumando bien alguno de los que habitualmente no lo hacen tanto. Y sorteo de Copa realizado donde hemos tenido suerte en principio evitando a nuestro máximo rival en cuartos, Manresa ha sido nuestro rival pero bueno, aún falta casi un mes para ello. Por lo pronto toca prepararse bien para esa cita en los próximos envites que al menos no serán tantos como los de esta primera quincena.

Mejor o peor... seguimos sumando victorias en esta locura de partidos de enero. Peor como contra Granada en un partido en el que fuimos dominados por un equipo fuera de nuestra liga y que solo supimos amarrar el triunfo en el último cuarto. Lo mejor fue el resultado y poco más, de la mano de un gran Facu y un Mario que está en un estado de forma increíble supimos sufrir y llevarnos el partido en un mal día. Y mejor como en Kaunas y ya de regreso a nuestro Palacio contra Tenerife. Recuperando el average contra los lituanos contra los que tocamos fondo hace unas jornadas y devolviendo la actuación desde la defensa y minimizando al rival hasta llegar a los 20 puntos de ventaja que mantuvimos hasta el final. Lesión de su base Francisco aparte, puede que el partido cambiara mucho tras abandonar la cancha, pero cierto es que aumentamos la diferencia en el marcador con un quinteto muy poco habitual. De nuevo en ACB contra un Tenerife que está siendo un año más un gallito de la competición, se antojaba un partido más igualado y con dos grandes cuartos el segundo y el tercero , en especial este que fue espectacular, cimentamos la victoria sobre los canarios. Buen trabajo en general de los nuestros que van a seguir sin mucho descanso, esta semana doble jornada en Euroliga, en casa eso si, contra Maccabi y Olympiakos, que no flaqueen las fuerzas.

It was a pogrom, the likes of which have not been seen in Europe since the days of World War Two. Or at least that is how corporate media across the world presented last month's violence in Amsterdam, as Israeli team Maccabi Tel Aviv came to play Ajax in football's Europa League.In total, five people were hospitalized, with a few dozen more minor injuries. And yet, the event generated hysteria across the West. President Biden, for example, described the supposed attacks against Israelis as “despicable,” adding that they “echo dark moments in history when Jews persecuted.”Dutch King Willem-Alexander, meanwhile, compared the events to the Holocaust.Yet even as public official after public official was denouncing the Dutch and spreading the persecution narrative, video clips showing a very different reality were going viral on social media, challenging the official story.On today's episode of “The Watchdog,” Lowkey catches up with an eyewitness to November's violence. Rachid El Ghazoui, better known as Appa, is a legend of Dutch hip hop. Active for over two decades, the rapper is known for his political content and his fierce criticism of racist Dutch politicians, such as Geert Wilders. His lyrics have made him a leading voice among the Moroccan community in the Netherlands.Appa tells a different story to Biden or King Willem-Alexander, presenting it as a tale of Israeli football thugs trashing a beautiful city, and then being challenged and overpowered by locals. As he told Lowkey:It actually started with the Maccabi Tel Aviv hooligans tearing up the streets, attacking people, throwing stuff at people, kicking people off their bikes, destroying taxis. Being hooligans, actually. They started singing racist songs in the main square, [about] killing Arabs and raping women”From there, the Israeli thugs were beaten back, and the resistance put up by locals – many of them of Moroccan descent – was treated as a vicious racist attack. Misdaadjournalisten Paul Vugts en Wouter Laumans blikken terug op de onrust die uitbrak met de komst van Israëlische voetbalsupporters naar Amsterdam. Was de informatiepositie van de politie wel in orde, en waarom kon het zo uit de hand lopen terwijl er wel veel ME en politie op de been was? ‘Er was niet te weinig politie, er was een verkeerd soort operatie.' Het was niet zo dat er gebrek was aan informatie, maar juist het probleem van een overload, legt Paul Vugts uit over de gebeurtenissen in de nacht van 7 op 8 november. “Welke groepen moet je serieus nemen op Telegram en welke niet? Opsporingsdiensten zeiden: als we alles serieus hadden genomen wat in die groepen voorbij kwam, hadden we ons voorbereid op een Derde Wereldoorlog.” Laumans: “Als een harde kern voetbalsupporters die uit is op confrontatie met tegensupporters in een Telegramgroep zeggen dat ze ergens heen gaan, dan kun je ervan uitgaan dat het ook gebeurt. Maar in deze groepen wist de politie niet wie wat brulde, en wie het waren. Dat maakte het zo moeilijk om te voorspellen en ermee te dealen.” Ook de informatiepositie van de Amsterdamse driehoek komt aan bod. Er is jarenlang geïnvesteerd in een fijnmazig netwerk van straatwerkers, buurtvaders enzovoort. Hoe kan het dat de autoriteiten deze rellen niet zagen aankomen? Vugts: “Wij hoorden mensen achteraf zeggen: wij wisten dit allang. When chaos erupted in Amsterdam between Maccabi Tel Aviv and Ajax fans, photographer Annet de Graaf watched the violence unfold across the city first-hand. Her footage of Maccabi fans attacking a Dutch resident went viral, and was picked up by several media outlets, who then spun a different narrative that it was the Israelis being attacked.Headlines poured in about antisemitic attacks in Amsterdam. Episode 124: Last month I shared that I helped co-author a book called, There's More Than 1 Way to Skin A Cat.  We've got 2 NBA, 3 Division 1 and  5 European Basketball performance coaches contributing to chapters on mobility, stability, power, agility, periodization and recovery.  I received my copies of the book last month and they turned out awesome.  For anyone wanting to buy a copy, make sure you reach out to @silk_man on Instagram, and Luka will take care of you.   And so Today's episode is another sneak peak into our book, where I interview the 9 coaches and ask, “what's your thought process on reducing ankle sprains.”  And then you get to hear exactly how the Chicago Bulls, Denver Nuggets, Kansas Jayhawks and Louisville Cardinals do it here in the states.  And you'll also get to hear how professional teams in Istanbul, Brescia, Jerusalem, Slovan and Maccabi do it in the European Leagues.  My goal for this episode is to prove that there really is more than one way to train & condition basketball players. Here's a list of contributors:  Luka Svilar has a PhD in Sport Science with a master's in Kinesiology and brings a wealth of experience from working with esteemed teams such as Bayern, Baskonia, Turk Telekom and Croatia's NTs. Ramsey Nijem is the Director of Performance for the University of Kansas Men's Basketball Program.  He holds a Doctorate of Science in Human and Sport Performance and a Master of Science in Kinesiology.  Before joining the Jayhawks, he spent 5 season s with the NBA's Sacramento Kings.  Jure Drakslar is the Head Strength & Conditioning coach and rehabilitation specialist at BC Zenit Saint Petersburg.  He has over two decades of experience in professional basketball and hold's a masters degree in sports science.   He's also a personal off-season strength & conditioning coach for many top-level basketball players, including my son's favorite NBA player, Luka Doncic, who he worked with for 3 off-seasons.  Matt Comer is currently working on his PhD in Health & Human Performance while holding a master's degree in biomechanics and a bachelors in athletic training.  He began his basketball  strength & conditioning career working in the G-League before getting promoted to the NBA.  Roberto Iezzi holds a master's degree in sport science and has almost 20 years of experience in basketball.  He's currently the head of performance at Brescia Basketball, responsible for the players performance and rehabilitation.  Kostas Chatzichristos is the Head of Performance at Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul,  He holds a masters degree from the University of Texas at Austin and is a current PhD candidate at Democritus University.  Kostas also serves as the director of the Euroleague Strength & conditioning Coaches association.  Adam Petway is the Director of Strength & Conditioning at Louisville basketball and leverages extensive NBA experience with the 76ers and wizards.  He holds an MBA in sport management and earned bachelors and PhD degrees in Sport Science.  Reggie Fanan is a graduate of the Zinman School of Coaches at Wingate and has served as Maccabi's Head Strength & Conditioning coach for over a decade.  He is a former Euroleague player, which gives him a unique perspective as a basketball performance coach.
