In this enriching episode of "Shark Theory," Baylor Barbee reflects on his recent experience at a "Painting with a Twist" event, specifically a "paint your pet" session. He eloquently shares how this enriching encounter offered profound lessons applicable to planning for future personal growth and development, especially as one prepares for 2025. Through his observations, Baylor emphasizes the importance of having an outline, setting a solid foundation, and understanding the role of guidance and instruction in achieving success. His insights aim to inspire listeners to utilize creativity and strategy in their personal and professional lives. The episode dives deep into the parallels between painting and life planning, highlighting Baylor Barbee's key strategies for tackling the upcoming year successfully. Utilizing anecdotes from his painting experience, Baylor underscores the necessity of starting with a clear outline and establishing a firm foundation that acts as an anchor during life's potential storms. Listeners are encouraged to identify what defines them and to build resilience through these identified foundations. Furthermore, Baylor stresses the value of taking instructions from experts and learning from others to accelerate growth and enhance personal capabilities. Key Takeaways: Establish an outline: Clearly define who you want to become by the end of 2025 and begin implementing those plans now. Build a foundation: Identify what will serve as your anchor—be it faith, community, or personal skills—throughout life's challenges. Embrace guidance: Seek help and accept instructions from those with expertise to avoid mediocrity and accelerate your progress. Focus on your eyes: Let your passion and determination be evident to others through the intensity of your eyes. Highlight the dark: Use past mistakes or dark moments as a canvas to build brighter experiences and create a fulfilling narrative. Notable Quotes: "Set the parameters, set the outline, start setting these habits in place so that at the end of 2025, you have a trail or a track or a lane that you can follow." "You have to decide what your foundation is going to be. What are you going to be known for?" "Quit thinking you have to just do it all alone and figure it out all yourself." "When somebody looks in your eyes, they see passion. Be sure that they see fire." "We can always build on top of darkness. We can always put lighter hues, lighter paints, and lighter shades on darkness."

What happens when two powerhouses—Tom Ferry, the world's leading real estate coach and Nick, broker of the #1 real estate company in Baja mogul, —sit down to share their secrets? You get a raw, inspiring, and sometimes hilarious conversation about passion, success, and what it truly takes to lead! In this electrifying episode of The Nick Fong Podcast, Nick welcomes Tom, a man who has redefined success for countless real estate professionals. He was in town just 24 hours to be at the Tom Ferry 2024 Cabo Luxury Mastermind.  But this isn't just another motivational talk. This is a journey into the mind of someone who's orchestrated over 200 flights and nearly 100 speaking events this year—all while staying laser-focused on his "zone of greatness." Tom dives deep, recounting his unapologetic investment in personal growth—$250K annually on coaches, advisors, and exclusive events—all to sharpen his edge. He reflects on how simplicity, like hand-washing his son's soccer uniform, grounds him in an otherwise relentless schedule.  Meanwhile, Nick reveals his own struggles with leadership transparency, learning the art of delivering the right message to the right audience. But this episode isn't all work and no play. Their conversation takes surprising detours—Tom's iconic first concert experience (KISS, with rockets and fire!) and Nick's reflections on cultural immersion during a trip to Istanbul. Layered with humor and historical tangents, including a comedic deep dive into Young Frankenstein, the dialogue keeps you hooked from start to finish. The Big Takeaway: Great leaders don't just hustle—they evolve. Tom's bold vision, his emphasis on passion, remind us that success is born from discomfort and courage. Road trip music--that's what Psalm 121 feels like! It's about stepping out of our comfort zone into the unknown. As we walk the journey of life, we can move with courage and shift our focus as needed, assured and aware of His presence beside us.

Point Number one; dreaming will cost you! Point Number two; don't try to do God's work for Him. Point number three; dream anyway it's worth it! Point number four; you are creating an environment. Point number five; everyone isn't gonna root for you.

I got an email from longtime 3 Booker Bo Boswell who told me he found an enticingly-titled thread on reddit called “What's your field or study (hobbyist or professional) and what's a cornerstone beginners book for that topic/field?”     The most upvoted reply on the thread read: "Librarian here, Susan Orlean's ‘The Library Book' is at first glance a true-crime book about tracking the arsonist who set fire and burned down the main library in Los Angeles, but it also gives a comprehensive glimpse into contemporary libraries and their issues, especially updating a view of them if you haven't been inside one since you were a kid."   Bo picked up the book, loved it, and then wrote to me that "the amount of research and bizarre detail Orlean puts into her work is so engrossing.” Bizarre detail! I was convinced. I picked up ‘The Library Book' and it blew me away. Reading it was like … wandering a library. Surprising curiosity trails at every turn. I ended up putting the book in my Best Of 2023 and then went deeper into Susan Orlean's back catalog where I found myself reading profiles like ‘The American Man, Age 10' and a series of fascinating but unconventional obituaries about people like the inventor of Hawaiian Tropic or the first magician on the Las Vegas strip.   I've come to think of Susan Orlean as one of the best non-fiction writers on the planet. She's been a Staff Writer for ‘The New Yorker' since 1992 and has written more than 10 bestselling books including ‘The Library Book', ‘On Animals', ‘Saturday Night', and ‘The Orchid Thief', which was turned into the movie ‘Adaptation', starring Meryl Streep in her Oscar-nominated role as … yes, Susan Orlean.   Susan has an endless, unbridled curiosity — that ‘bizarre detail' — which you'll see on full display in this conversation which begins by talking about how she organizes her shoes! She's a writer's writer who offers us a  true masterclass and always reminds us that “storytelling and knowledge-sharing is the essential human experience.”   We talk about organizing shoes and spices, what books do that nothing else does, finding the balance between professional and amateur, the genius of container ships, what great book design does, how to cultivate your writing voice, how you might organize your book, facing the fear of failure, LSD, the power of libraries, Susan's 3 most formative books, and much, much more…     I am so excited to share this conversation and hope you'll find it as endlessly inspiring, thoughtful as I did.   Let's jump into Chapter 134 of 3 Books now…
