Summary In this episode, host Blake Wyland interviews John Dyer Baizley from the band Baroness. They discuss the band's touring rig and guitar setup, the importance of band chemistry, and the role of the song and audience in live performances. John also shares insights into the band's intuitive approach to songwriting and the exploration of ideas that don't fit the band's sound. Additionally, they touch on John's visual artistry and his influences as an artist. Custom Rickenbackers, favorite BOSS Pedals, and of course pizza are the topics of the day! You are going to enjoy this! Takeaways Band chemistry is crucial for creating a balanced and dynamic live performance. The role of each band member is to support and enhance the overall sound, rather than seeking individual attention. The band's writing process is a combination of structured and intuitive approaches, allowing for creative exploration and discovery. Trusting instincts and embracing creativity without overthinking can lead to unique and exciting musical moments. John's visual artistry is influenced by a variety of artists and mediums, and he continues to explore and evolve as an artist. Trying different pizzerias around the world can be a fun and delicious experience. It is a killer pedal, that Boss improved upon with their more recent VB-2W "Waza Craft" version. Where the old one had noise/hiss issues when bypassed, the Waza Craft version has a special bypass mode that addresses the original"s weak point. The original pedal has been used to great effect by John Jorgenson with the Desert Rose Band, Neil Finn with Crowded House, Prince, and Buddy Miller.GEAR USED:2019 Danocaster Blackguard (1953 Telecaster Style) with Ron Ellis 52T (Bridge) and Julian Lage (Neck)https://danocaster.com/Strings: Ernie Ball Regular Slinky 10-461965 Deluxe Reverb amp with Celestion V30 speakereffects used:Boss VB-2W https://amzn.to/39T5CVJPower by battery #askzac #guitartech #telecasterSupport the show

In Episode 5 we discuss using Garage Band on the iPhone, The Boss TR-2 Tremelo pedal, and we hear from Hank III about his gear. Apple just updated the Garage Band App for the iPad this past week, and the biggest part of the update was making the app available to the iPhone and iPod touch. This makes Garage Band one of the best portable composition tools on the market. Other Updates include being able to do 3/4 and 6/8 time signatures as well as being able to make custom chords for the smart instruments. I am a big fan of Boss Pedals because they are reliable, consistent and virtually indestructible, in this episode I sit down with the TR-2 Tremelo pedal and expolore some of the tones you can create with it. A special treat for this show was Hank III taking a moment out of his day to talk gear with us real quick. Hank is continuing the family tradition of putting out great Country music and causing a ruckus. Join the ruckus at Hank3.com .
