Holly Budge is a global keynote speaker on risk, innovation, and human potential, operating at the intersection of conservation, science, and bold ideas. As an Everest summiteer and the first woman to skydive Everest, she now focuses less on surviving extremes and more on solving the complex conservation challenges shaping our future. As founder of international NGO How Many Elephants and World Female Ranger Week, Holly explores how nature, technology, and innovation can work together to design smarter systems, from using bees as bio-engineers to reduce human-elephant conflict in Africa, to empowering women as front-line wildlife rangers. Her work has reached over 500 million people globally, been featured in Forbes, and praised by Sir David Attenborough. In this episode, Holly shares powerful insights from her journey between extreme adventure and global conservation work, including how her definition of risk and purpose has evolved over time. We dive into the real-world impact of wildlife conservation projects, from elephant corridors and bee-based deterrents to the rise of female ranger teams protecting some of the world's most vulnerable ecosystems. Listen to this episode to hear how adventure can become a force for global change, why women are reshaping the future of conservation, and what it takes to turn bold ideas into real-world impact at scale. *** New episodes of the Tough Girl Podcast drop every Tuesday at 7 AM (UK time)! Have you been doing everything right, cutting out the sugar, never missing a workout, counting every calorie, and still watching the scale creep up while your energy and sleep get worse? In this episode, I'm explaining why "eat less, move more" can backfire once your hormones shift in perimenopause and menopause, and what insulin resistance may have to do with the weight that feels stuck around your midsection. If you're tired of being told to just eat less and you're ready to test the right things, book a call with my team to talk through what you've tried, what hasn't worked, and the best next step for your body. And don't forget to grab my FREE Metabolic Testing Guide in the show notes, where I list the exact labs to start with. Books I mention in this episode (I'm not affiliated with any of these authors, I just love the information):

You're eating less. Working out harder. Doing everything that used to work. So why won't the belly fat move? In this solo episode of Harder Than Life, Kelly Siegel explores why losing belly fat after 40 and 50 can feel completely different—and why the strategies that worked in your 20s and 30s may no longer produce the same results. Kelly shares his own experience of hitting 40, struggling with body changes and low testosterone, and realizing that more willpower wasn't solving the problem. A decade later, another extreme push taught him a second lesson: training harder without enough recovery can leave you depleted instead of progressing. This episode explores the relationship between visceral fat, testosterone, insulin, cortisol, estrogen, muscle loss, sleep, stress, and metabolic health. Kelly also breaks down the four practical levers he focuses on: building muscle, managing blood sugar, prioritizing sleep and recovery, and measuring meaningful health markers. If you're over 40 or 50 and frustrated that your old diet and workout strategies no longer seem to work, this episode offers a practical framework for rethinking your approach. Key Topics:

Host: Alex Cameron, Founder & CEO, Industrial Connect Group LtdGuest: Grant Budge, CEO, PeroCycleEurope spent somewhere between eight and ten billion euros on hydrogen and CCS projects over the last decade. Grant Budge's rough calculation is that the same capital, deployed into carbon capture and utilisation, could have been removing three to six million tonnes of CO2 per year by now. Instead, we have a handful of projects that never crossed the line and an industry still arguing about infrastructure that doesn't exist. Grant was there for CCS v1.0. He knows why it stalled, and he has a clear view on what we keep getting wrong, as well as what could help drive the right capital to the right tech. PeroCycle is CEO of a team converting CO2 into carbon monoxide on site, no pipeline, no offsite infrastructure, negative cost of carbon abatement on a DRI steel plant at current European energy prices. That's the claim. In this episode, Grant walks through how they got there, what could still break it, and why the deeper problem in industrial decarbonization isn't the technology at all.Key Takeaways1. Why large corporate balance sheets have been part of the problem, not the solution. The assumption that big companies with big balance sheets would lead deployment shaped a decade of policy. Grant explains why that logic kept failing, and what it meant for the technologies that got backed as a result.2. The real reason hydrogen and CCS absorbed so much capital for so little output. It wasn't just bad technology choices. Grant traces it back to how the direction was set in the first place, and who was driving that conversation.3. What a global database of validated decarbonization technologies would actually change. Right now, an industrial company trying to compare options has no independent source to go to. Grant makes the case for why that gap exists, who could fill it, and what it would have meant if it had existed ten years ago.4. How PeroCycle moved from a cost of plus $50-60 per tonne of CO2 abated to minus $80. The engineering decisions behind that shift, and what they tell you about where most tech developers are leaving value on the table.5. The stage gate that will make or break the business case. Scaling to the steel sector means a first-of-kind plant costing $250-300 million for a pre-revenue startup. Grant explains the strategy for getting there without that number killing the story with investors.6. Why nickel and glass might matter more to PeroCycle right now than steel. The biggest market isn't always the right first market. Grant's thinking on this is worth hearing by anyone building deep tech for heavy industry.7. What investors actually want to see from industrial tech companies at TRL 4-5. Grant has been on both sides of this conversation. His read on what separates companies that keep the conversation alive from those that get screened out early is direct and practical.Links: · Follow Alex Cameron on LinkedIn and find how to get involved with the membership and work of Decarb Connect· Connect with Grant Budge, CEO, PeroCycle· Find out more about Perocycle and its projects· Join Alex and a network of hardtech investors and series B+ tech disruptors at Decarb TechInvest in Boston (September 2025)· Sign up for our newsletter Want to learn more about Decarb Connect? We provide insights and introductions that derisk decision-making and support industrial leaders in deploying decarbonization and low carbon product strategy. You're training hard, eating clean, doing everything "right," so why is menopause belly fat still creeping up? In this episode, I break down why your old fat-loss strategies stopped working and what's actually happening hormonally as estrogen declines. You'll learn:✅ Why overtraining and high-intensity cardio spike cortisol and drive fat storage straight to your midsection✅ Why under-eating (especially below 1200 calories) backfires and slows your metabolism instead of speeding it up✅ Why shifting from cardio-first to strength-first training changes your body composition without doing moreI also share a real client story: how going from 1,000 to 1,650 calories a day helped her lose weight, not gain it, and finally get her energy back.If you're a woman in perimenopause or menopause who feels like your body stopped responding to everything that used to work, this episode will explain why, and give you a clear, science-backed path forward.Want personalized help applying this to your body? We discuss: Guest host Ernabel Demillo joins us once again to share her insights on episode 12, discusses her Emmy-winning Asian American Life, and tells us about attending the Korean American Community Foundation gala featuring the singers behind KPop Demon Hunters. The songs we featured during the recap: I Love You Grandma by Lee So Young Our Tomorrow by Nam Hye Seung and Cho Mira Come Back Home by Nam Hye Seung and Park Sang Hee Why Korean drama OSTs are so memorable, how they're created specifically for each series, and how Korea's entertainment industry makes drama soundtracks an integral part of the storytelling. Ho Su and Mi Ji's relationship reaches a new stage as they exchange couple's rings, introduce each other to their mothers, and quietly begin planning a future together. Mi Rae's decision to leave corporate life behind to run the strawberry farm, why that choice represents healing rather than giving up, and Se Jin's patient support as they follow separate paths before finding each other again. The redemption of Hyeon Sang Wol, who finally learns to read, discovers Kim Rosa's heartfelt poems for herself, and comes full circle by giving a poetry reading. The legal consequences facing Park Sang Yeong and the moral complexities surrounding Lee Chung Gu's decision to personally represent Mi Rae. Blues CEO Karl Budge believes a revamped Super Rugby Pacific format for 2027 will enhance interest in an improved on-field product. 10 teams will play 16 regular season matches with an ANZAC Day Bledisloe test break, before the top two teams get direct passage to the semi-finals while the next four ranked teams face off – no Lucky Loser. While the draw is yet to be released, Budge is glad that the new format retains a greater sense of jeopardy and makes for bigger games throughout the competition. He told Mike Hosking it means teams will play for meaningful outcomes right through to the end of the season. LISTEN ABOVE See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

After 16 years of teaching internationally and raising a family abroad, Mary McCallion found herself burned out, overwhelmed, and increasingly disconnected from her body. What began as concerns about weight gain and health symptoms eventually led her to discover that the real struggle wasn't food it was years of unresolved grief, stress, fear, and self-doubt. In this powerful conversation, Mary shares how taking a sabbatical from teaching created the space for deeper emotional healing. Through hypnosis, NLP, timeline therapy, and emotional mastery tools, she learned to quiet food noise, rebuild trust with her body, and release the belief that something was "wrong" with her that needed fixing. Mary's story is a reminder that lasting transformation doesn't come from another diet, supplement, or quick fix. It comes from addressing the emotional roots beneath the surface and learning how to approach yourself with compassion instead of fear. "The extra weight was the entry point to uncovering something much deeper." — Mary McCallion In this episode: 02:18 – Mary explains why she decided to take a sabbatical after years of international teaching and burnout 08:20 – The unexpected moment she discovered the podcast and immediately felt understood 13:32 – How unresolved grief from losing her father was impacting her relationship with food and her body 15:51 – Why weight struggles are often just the tip of the iceberg 21:24 – Understanding food noise and learning to trust herself around food again 23:23 – Letting go of guilt around leftovers and emotional eating habits 26:37 – How hypnosis helped rewire years of negative self-talk and fear-based thinking 32:48 – Mary's experience considering GLP-1 medications and what made her pause 36:29 – The health anxiety spiral that led her to fear serious illness 39:34 – Why this healing work became the missing piece in her life transition 42:51 – Mary's advice for anyone feeling called to take the first step toward food freedom 45:00 – Meeting the universe halfway and trusting the next step in your healing journey Connect With Leslie Thornton: Book A Clarity Call Website Facebook LinkedIn Email: Leslie@hpwl.co If you enjoy the podcast, would you please consider leaving a quick review on Apple Podcasts/iTunes in under 60 seconds? You've cleaned up your diet, you're exercising regularly, and yet the belly fat still won't budge. Sound familiar? In this episode of Own Your Health, Katie Brindle looks at why the answer may have less to do with calories and more to do with what is happening inside your body. Katie draws on the principles of Chinese medicine, to explain how stress, emotions, digestion, and energy flow can all contribute to stubborn belly fat, particularly as we get older. She reveals the roles of the liver, spleen and lungs in storing and processing excess energy, why feelings such as frustration, overwhelm and resentment may be affecting your waistline, and how everyday habits like eating cold foods or rushing meals could be working against you. Katie also shares simple techniques, including breathing exercises, body tapping and Qigong-inspired movement, that may help support your body's natural ability to restore balance and release what it no longer needs.
In this Q&A episode of Life Rewired, Kristina answers some of the most common and relatable questions she receives from her community, covering everything from frustrating fat loss plateaus to hormonal shifts in your late thirties to the ins and outs of reverse dieting and calorie cycling. She also shares her honest take on popular fiber sources like chia seeds and flax seeds, and why she recommends both for gut health, hormone clearance, and blood sugar stability. There were so many great questions submitted that Kristina could not get to all of them in one episode, so stay tuned because a part two is coming. In the meantime, her takeaway throughout this episode is the same one she comes back to with every client. It is never just about the food. It is about understanding your body, building sustainable habits, and giving yourself enough grace to stay in the game for the long run. Finance Minister Nicola Willis has described superannuation as a 'time bomb' that is here now and political parties need to be honest about it. Delivering the Budget today, Willis said National will enter the election with changes to ensure superannuation is affordable. NZ First's Shane Jones has confirmed the party's not budging on this issue. "The reality is, our economic growth rate...is quite anaemic. Under three percent, that's in the Treasury forecast. We need to do a hell of a lot more as a country, irrespective of who the the Government is, to substantially grow the economy and boost our revenue." If you have ever been told your thyroid is "normal" while you are exhausted, gaining weight, losing hair, constipated, freezing cold, and barely making it through the day, this episode is going to hit a nerve. Because the truth is, thyroid care is still failing women in a big way. Too many doctors are only testing TSH, stopping there, and missing the full picture completely. In this episode, I sit down with my friend Dr. Amie Hornaman to talk about why thyroid treatment is still so broken, especially for women in midlife. We go into one of the most important parts of this whole conversation: advocacy. Because when it comes to thyroid health, no one is coming to save you. You have to know what to ask for, what to test, what patterns to look for, and how to push for better care. If you have been dismissed, under-treated, or told your labs are fine while your body is clearly telling a different story, this episode will give you language, clarity, and a much better understanding of what may actually be going on. In this episode, we cover: Why thyroid care has not improved nearly enough for women Why testing only TSH is not enough The thyroid labs women need to ask for What free T3, free T4, reverse T3, TPO, and Tg antibodies actually tell you Why T4-only thyroid medication often does not work well How reverse T3 can put the brakes on your metabolism Why thyroid dysfunction can affect blood sugar, insulin, fertility, and sex hormones The connection between perimenopause, menopause, and new thyroid issues Why many women are being under-medicated for hypothyroidism How to advocate for yourself and find a practitioner who actually understands thyroid care Who this episode is for This episode is for women who suspect they have a thyroid issue, have already been diagnosed with hypothyroidism or Hashimoto's, or have been told their thyroid is "fine" even though they feel anything but fine. It is especially helpful for women in perimenopause and menopause who are dealing with fatigue, weight gain, brain fog, low mood, constipation, hair loss, or feeling like their body has suddenly stopped working the way it used to. Shawn Needham, R.Ph., talks with Dr. Amie Hornaman about her new book, The Thyroid Fix: The No-Nonsense Guide to Fix Fatigue, Fogginess, and Fat That Won't Budge . If you feel like there's something wrong but you can't get a doctor to listen, don't have a diagnosis yet, or have a diagnosis and your treatment isn't working, this book is for you. People—especially women—are consistently being dismissed and encouraged to accept symptoms that are anything but normal: weight gain that won't budge, exhaustion that never lifts, hair loss, anxiety, brain fog, and mood swings. Dr. Amie Hornaman is here to change that. The Thyroid Fix addresses what most doctors overlook: the real reason women feel fat, foggy, and fatigued isn't laziness, aging, or a lack of willpower—it's their thyroid. This book is a wake-up call—and a solution—for millions of women who are sick of feeling dismissed and misdiagnosed. It's direct, real, and filled with strategies that actually work. In this book, Dr. Hornaman teaches you what your lab results really mean, why “normal” ranges are often meaningless, and how to get treatment that actually works for your body. With authority and empathy, she invites you to bust myths, understand your labs, and finally get real answers. Readers will walk away with a self-assessment, facts, and questions to approach their doctors with, and solutions that range from conventional and functional medicine to prescriptions, supplements, and lifestyle shifts. The Thyroid Fix is the straightforward, clinically-backed thyroid health guide you didn't know you needed, but that might just change your life.
