This was a really fun breakdown with Casey O'Donnell to discuss the second leg of the FedEx Cup playoffs. The BMW Championship tournament was held at Olympia Fields in Chicago and it was a really tough course that had most players scrambling just to make pars. The winning score was -4 compared to last weeks win by Dustin Johnson at -30. Speaking of DJ the World # 1 and Fedex Cup # 1 was in the drivers seat early on in the final round as he started the day tied for the lead. He then proceeded to birdie 3 of the first four holes to give himself a cushion. There were other golfers who played solid golf and threatened the top of the leaderboard but it was the World # 2 Jon Rahm who emerged as the leader in the clubhouse at -4. DJ had to drain a 43 foot putt on the 72nd hole to force a playoff. The two of them went back to the 18th tee and played the last hole again. When they hit the green with their approach shots DJ looked to be in the much better position. When Jon Rahm read his putt and sent it on its way I don't think anyone expected it to go in but that is what happened. The 66 and 1/2 foot bomb won him the tournament as DJ wasn't able to match his shot. With the top players in the world playing so well this bodes well for East Lake in Boston next week for the Tour Championship and the finale of the FedEx Cup playoffs. The top 30 made it into that tournament and should provide us with amazing golf starting on Friday with the Monday Labor Day finish. It was a real battle to get into the top 30 and Canadian Mackenzie Hughes just made it by sinking a tough five footer for par on his last hole of the tournament. Billy Horschel made it in thirtieth place after Canadian Corey Conners three putted from five feet to fall into a tie and give Horschel the spot by less than a point. All thirty now qualify for all of the majors and World Golf Championships and the Tournament of Champions. The format now has Dustin Johnson starting the first day at 10 under par Jon Rahm will be in second at 8 under, Justin Thomas third at seven under par and so on. The players sitting in the 26th through 30th place will start at even par ten shots back of DJ. It should lend to a very interesting tournament and have the golfers who are the best in the world currently battling it on for the top prize of $15 Million dollars and big paycheques for all with a purse of $60 Million. Enjoy the golf Take care Love yah Bye for now.

TSN golf insider Bob Weeks says that Bryson DeChambeau has become the talk of the PGA tour not only for how long he hits the ball, but also for some of his antics on the course, including breaking his driver in today's opening round of the PGA Championship. Weeks says to keep an eye on Canadian Corey Conners, as Harding Park is the type of course that fits Conners' game.
There is a short intro to our podcast coming after the RBC Heritage PGA golf tournament held in Hilton Head, South Carolina. Casey was brought into the conversation and he joined us again aboard his new sailboat. We talked about the last day of the tournament falling on Fathers day. The telecast featured numerous mentions of fathers and sons and the eventual winner Webb Simpson was a father of five who had lost his own father a few years ago. Casey mentioned how most of us were introduced to the game by our own fathers. It is a unique game that can be started at a very young age and played into your 80's or even into our 90's. Casey talked about the 2 and a half hour weather delay because of a lightning storm in the area. It obviously changed the dynamic and sucked the momentum from some of the golfers. The delay put the finish and the Sunday and Fathers day completion in jeopardy. Casey was impressed by the -22 winning score and the logjam of players at the top. He stated that the course was playing nice and the greens were receptive and you didn't have to bomb it out there. When the main coverage on CBS started Dylan Fratelli had taken a two shot lead by blazing to a 62 final round score! Justin Thomas then joined the party at 17 under as well and could have gone lower but the rain delay seemed to derail his mo and he finished with a 63. We talked about Abraham Ancer, Tyrell Hatton among others who had a real shot to win this tourney. Casey was impressed by Daniel Berger, Brooks Koepka, Sergio Garcia and Joaquin Niemann who all had good showings in the tournament. Casey then brought up Canadian Corey Conners who put together three good rounds but for the second straight week had a disappointing final round. He finished a very respectable 14 under and has really been driving the ball well, he had 90 to 1 odds to win at the beginning of the week so Casey put some money down on him. He also had an 8 game parlay bet and unlike last week when he hit them all he just came up one short. We got into a great discussion of this tournament and you should listen to the breakdown especially if you missed the TV coverage. We brought up Nick Watney as the first player to be diagnosed with the corona virus and he had to withdraw after the first round, The PGA tour is doing tests very frequently and is expecting more positive tests in the coming weeks. Thanks so much for tuning in to another podcast episode from Complete Sports Media. Please tune in again and tell your friends and family about the podcasts. Take care, Love yah and bye for now!

MASTERS WEEK! Wow! Are you kidding me! What a great weekend of golf. Jin-Young Ko wins the ANA Inspiration for her first major victory, and it propels her to the #1 World Ranking with her second victory of the season. Very cool. We have our first Augusta National Women's Amateur in one Jennifer Kupcho, with Maria Fassi pushing her the whole time. What a wonderful tradition (I wish it weren't on the same week as the ANA Inspiration). And Canadian Corey Conners. Again wow! A Monday qualifier, -6 on the back nine to get the win the Valero Texas Open for his first PGA Tour win, and secures the last open spot at the Masters, what a fantastic thing to see. He birdies the first 4 out of 5 holes, then bogeys the next 4, to make the turn at even, then birdies the next three and 3 of the next 6 for the victory. Unreal. Let's take a look at the data that got it done for Corey on this Data Monday.
