A major campaign is slowly gaining momentum across New South Wales, calling on the state’s criminal justice system to provide extra support for victim-survivors of sexual violence. In this episode, Greg Glynn, founder & CEO of Pliable talks with sports broadcaster Jen Mueller about her career in sports journalism. Jen shared her journey from high school guidance counselor to successful sideline reporter for the Seattle Seahawks, emphasizing the importance of consistent presence, networking, and strategic relationship-building in the sports industry. The discussion concluded with insights into Jen's broadcasting work, speaking engagements, and her experience hosting a cooking show, highlighting the value of building relationships and personal branding in sports media. Jen and Greg discussed the format and goals of their upcoming podcast episode, focusing on Jen's keynote speaking and communication expertise. Greg explained the episode would be about 15-20 minutes, with an introduction added in post-production. They agreed to focus on Jen's career and personal brand, with a sales pitch towards the end. The episode is expected to be released in about a month, with no time-sensitive content from Jen's side. Jen's Journey to Sports Journalism Jen shared her journey from a high school guidance counselor's suggestion to pursue broadcasting over teaching, leading her to a successful career in sports journalism. She discussed her experience playing multiple sports in high school and her gradual progression from behind-the-scenes roles to becoming a sideline reporter for the Seattle Seahawks. Jen emphasized the importance of consistent presence and networking through daily attendance at events, rather than focusing solely on building relationships, which ultimately helped her secure her position. Building Trust in Locker Room Interactions Jen shared her 17-year experience working on the Seahawks sidelines, emphasizing the importance of building relationships through brief interactions in the locker room. She highlighted the need to be strategic and intentional in conversations with athletes, as these moments are limited and crucial for establishing trust. Greg agreed, drawing parallels to his own experience in pro sports, and noted the value of understanding the dynamics within the locker room to identify key individuals for storytelling. NFL Athletes' Communication Strategies Jen shared insights from her experience working with NFL rookies and athletes, emphasizing the importance of developing communication skills and personal branding. She highlighted the value of using specific, impactful language in sports and business contexts, drawing parallels between sports and professional communication. Jen advised athletes aspiring to enter sports broadcasting to become reliable and articulate interviewees, using their platform to build a strong personal brand and demonstrate leadership qualities. Jen's Sports Media and Networking Jen discussed her work in broadcasting and speaking engagements, emphasizing the importance of building relationships and leveraging opportunities in sports media. She shared her experience hosting a cooking show, "I Cook, You Measure," which features athletes in a different setting. Greg highlighted Jen's preparedness and expertise, and mentioned an athlete he plans to connect with her, aligning with his #MissionE50 initiative to promote women's sports. Both talked about the "grind" of a broadcasting career and the value of networking and confidence in career development. Stephen A Smith Makes A SURPRISE Return To Gil's Arena as the host of ESPN's First Take & King of Sports Media shocks Gilbert Arenas & The Gil's Arena Crew with a surprise appearance during their summer hiatus. Stephen A gets real on his relationship with LeBron James following their hostile feud sparked by SAS's Gil's Arena Debut and explains why he will never speak to the Los Angeles Lakers' superstar ever again. He also breaks down why LeBron should feel disrespected by the Lakers after their summer of hyping up Luka Doncic before calling out Gilbert Arenas on his recent arrest. Next, Stephen A breaks down what's coming up in his career as the media mogul continues to grow his brand and challenges the Gil's Arena Crew in the GOAT Debate as he explains why LeBron James & Kobe Bryant will never be Michael Jordan. Finally, they discuss recent events taking over the sports world, whipping around the NBA to highlight storylines like Kevin Durant to the Houston Rockets, Giannis Antetokounmpo's Legacy and who can catch the Shai Gilgeous Alexander & the OKC Thunder this season. On today's Winning Cures Everything, Gary dives into a loaded slate of college football and sports media news. ESPN is set to launch its long-awaited direct-to-consumer app on August 21st, giving fans the ability to stream without a cable subscription. They've also locked up the 2026 WWE Premium Live Event rights and acquired all of the NFL's media assets — meaning we could soon see a College Football RedZone-style channel. In Starkville, a controversial figure was spotted: disgraced former Baylor head coach and father-in-law of Mississippi State's Jeff Lebby attended Bulldogs practice this week, raising eyebrows across the sport.Meanwhile, On3 continues its rapid rise in the college athletics media landscape, adding top insider Ross Dellenger from Yahoo Sports to its growing roster of talent. And in the “did he really just say that?” department — Vandy QB Diego Pavia claims Vanderbilt can compete for a national championship this year. Is it better for star players to make bold, unrealistic statements, or keep things grounded in reality? It's all here — sports media shakeups, college football intrigue, and a dash of wild preseason chatter — on Winning Cures Everything.

Former NBA guard Jeff Teague recently said LeBron James used steroids and had to sit out games under the guise of a back injury because the league started testing for HGH. Teague quickly backtracked and claimed he was just joking, but Jason Whitlock isn't buying it. On this episode of “Fearless,” Whitlock once again tackles a topic sports fans care about, but ESPN and FOX Sports are ignoring. Whitlock revisits similar accusations Kevin Garnett made last year about James and argues Teague was silenced by the powerful sports media, which doesn't like when its moneymakers' reputations are sullied by PED allegations. Whitlock gives a rundown of other alleged PED-ophiles, including Lance Armstrong, Barry Bonds, Jon Jones, and Alex Rodriquez, and he discusses the accusations with guests Steve Kim and Jay Skapinac. Later on, Whitlock addresses Cam Newton's controversial comments about Jalen Hurts not ranking as a top-10 quarterback, and he argues there is a top-five list, but the top 10 quarterbacks could be anyone. More Caitlin Clark hate, John Harbaugh on Trump, and Deion Sanders' trip to son Shiloh's training camp are more topics Whitlock covers on today's exciting show! Today's Sponsors: Pre-Born PreBorn's Network of Clinics provides free ultrasounds to women with unplanned pregnancies and not only do they save lives but they love and care for these hurting women.
