The Rizzuto Show
CIA or Scorpions? The Whistling Conspiracy That Rocked the Berlin Wall

The Rizzuto Show

Play Episode Listen Later Feb 20, 2026 29:22

One whistle. One wall. One wildly chaotic comedy podcast trying to figure out if the CIA secretly wrote a power ballad.Today on The Rizzuto Show, we spiral into a Cold War rabbit hole that somehow involves the Scorpions, the Berlin Wall, and a conspiracy theory so good it almost makes sense. Did the CIA plant “Winds of Change” as a psychological earworm to destabilize the Soviet Union? Or was it just a German rock band vibing in Moscow and accidentally soundtracking the end of communism? We break down the timeline: Moscow Music Peace Festival. The Berlin Wall falling. A whistle so catchy your dog might start questioning geopolitics. We debate whether government agents in suits at Langley were secretly ghostwriting ballads. We investigate Doc McGhee's wild backstory. We ask the hard-hitting questions like: is whistling rock propaganda? And could Moon be recruited as a sleeper agent if it involved a Garth Brooks duet? But that's just the start of this daily chaos. We also dig into the tragic anniversary of the Station Nightclub fire and how it changed live music forever. Then it's a full “Crap on Celebrities” sprint featuring Foo Fighters new music (and Dave Grohl's ongoing drama), Journey reunion rumors getting crushed in real time, and Fred Durst volunteering to front Van Halen like it's an open mic night. There's Summerfest flexing (Moon casually “playing with Garth Brooks” a week apart, but we're counting it), a Toy Story sequel that's basically about iPads ruining childhood, and a reminder that yes — Ryan Reynolds had a slump once. It's conspiracy theories, celebrity chaos, music nostalgia, questionable impressions, and just enough sarcasm to keep this comedy podcast legally non-threatening to the CIA. Probably. If you like your history lessons with a side of roast, your celebrity news unfiltered, and your daily humor served with St. Louis flavor, this comedy podcast is exactly what your brain ordered.Follow The Rizzuto Show → linktr.ee/rizzshow for more from your favorite daily comedy show.Connect with The Rizzuto Show Comedy Podcast online → 1057thepoint.com/RizzShow.Hear The Rizz Show daily on the radio at 105.7 The Point | Hubbard Radio in St. Louis, MO.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

If you ever wondered what happens when pop culture chaos meets questionable life decisions and just enough caffeine to fuel bad takes… welcome back to your favorite daily comedy show.Today's episode kicks off with a Star Wars “what could've been” that has us screaming into the galaxy. Apparently, Adam Driver pitched a standalone Kylo Ren movie and Disney said, “Nah.” Which means somewhere in an alternate universe, we're watching a billion-dollar backstory about Han and Leia's brooding kid — and instead we're just rewatching The Mandalorian trailer like the rest of civilization. We break down the missed opportunity and question Disney's decision-making like we're qualified executives. (We're not.)Then things take a turn when we unpack the wild situation involving The Blind Side actor Quentin Aaron — a spinal stroke, a coma, and waking up to find out your “wife” wasn't legally your wife at all. That's not a subplot. That's real life. We react in real time and try to wrap our heads around that level of chaos.Speaking of chaos — YouTube turned 21. Yes, we're officially old. We revisit the very first upload (“Me at the Zoo”) and spiral into nostalgia about how a 19-second elephant video turned into a trillion hours of conspiracy theories, mukbangs, and cat content. The internet is undefeated. In Crap on Celebrities, we dive into:Bourbon & Beyond festival lineup (bourbon, bands, and potential poor decisions)The possibility of a “lost” Van Halen albumOzzy's emotional final performance moment (yes, we teared up… a little)Jelly Roll and Bunnie XO content overload — is the celebrity machine moving too fast?Hugh Hefner's alleged sex diary controversy (because of course that exists)Shia LaBeouf getting knocked around in New OrleansAnd the most diabolical sitcom characters ever (Cartman supremacy confirmed)Plus: Match Up with Moon returns, and Riz is still rocking a goose egg. Competitive tension? Absolutely. Grace? Minimal. This episode is peak Rizz and the gang — music, celebrity nonsense, questionable nostalgia, sarcastic debates, and just enough heartfelt moments to remind you we're human… allegedly. If you're looking for a daily comedy show that blends entertainment gossip, weird news, St. Louis energy, and just the right amount of chaos, congratulations — you found it.Welcome to the daily comedy show where even the serious stories take a weird left turn.Follow The Rizzuto Show → linktr.ee/rizzshow for more from your favorite daily comedy show.Connect with The Rizzuto Show Comedy Podcast online → 1057thepoint.com/RizzShow.Hear The Rizz Show daily on the radio at 105.7 The Point | Hubbard Radio in St. Louis, MO.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Originally Shinedown was set to play the Anderson, SC date, but they dropped off because they didn't want to “participate in something we believe will create further division.” Shortly after, that entire date of the tour was canceled. Speaking to Rolling Stone, Smith further addressed the decision saying: “We saw infighting that we had never seen before, and for us, it was our job to diffuse it. There were certain people that were not happy about [pulling back.] I will say that there was an overwhelming amount of people that agreed with the decision.… You're entitled to your opinion 1,000 percent in this country, and that's one of the beautiful things about it.” (Rolling Stone)Hosted by: Luke = https://www.youtube.com/@rockednet Alex = https://www.youtube.com/@voiceofalex

Exclusively Van Halen: 3 Era-Defining Van Halen Songs That Rocked the '80s! 2/16/26

The Johnny Beane Podcast

On this episode of Exclusively Van Halen, we dive into an article spotlighting three Van Halen songs that helped define—and dominate—the 1980s. From Eddie Van Halen's mind-blowing guitar wizardry to the band's explosive mix of hard rock and pop hooks, there's no question Van Halen had the entire decade in a headlock. Whether you lived through the '80s or discovered them later and became obsessed, these are essential tracks every fan needs to know. First up, “Hot for Teacher.” It may have only reached No. 56 on the Billboard charts, but its music video became an instant '80s classic. Featuring a cast that included Yano Anaya (the bully from A Christmas Story) and a Miss Canada runner-up, the video followed younger versions of the band and a nerdy kid named Waldo through a wild fantasy high school—bikini-clad teachers and all. Controversial? Sure. Iconic? Absolutely. Between the over-the-top visuals, cheeky lyrics, and Eddie's blazing guitar work, it's pure Van Halen magic. Then there's “Unchained,” a powerhouse track from the 1981 album Fair Warning. With its swagger, attitude, and unforgettable riff, it stands as one of the band's heaviest and coolest moments. Eddie's use of the MXR M-117 flanger helped give the song its unmistakable sound, while producer Ted Templeman later called it the perfect example of Van Halen being “a heavy metal band with a sense of humor.” Raw, loud, and unforgettable. And of course, you can't talk about songs that took the '80s by storm without “Jump.” Van Halen's biggest hit ever broke new ground with its synth-driven sound and uplifting energy. Set in the bright key of C major, it felt like nothing the band had done before—yet it still delivered that unmistakable Van Halen punch. Eddie's one-take guitar solo seals the deal, soaring right alongside those legendary keyboards that hook you from the very first note. Three songs. One band. Total '80s takeover. A joyous afternoon by the seaside — so obviously an away game — and Argyle produced a Valentine's Day massacre of their Lancashire hosts. Alex, Chris, Mark and Tom are the lucky ones to discuss a towering performance on the coast as Tom Cleverley's men ensured Blackpool well and truly knew they'd been tangoed.Something of a greatest hits discussion in Part One. Just desserts for the lovable Alex Mitchell, a full debut for the ages from Herbie Kane, a ballroom blitz of their box leading two injury-time goals in the opening half, and poetry for a deserved fourth after the break. It was bloomin' brilliant stuff and yes, while Ian Evatt's men were dreadful, it was still an illuminating win.Part 2 looks at a busy week of player movement outside the formal transfer window. Szucs leaves with best wishes; youth players heading out on loan feels sensible, financial pragmatism finally aligning with football logic. There are still challenges ahead, of course — some expensive summer signings yet to truly light up the stage — but there are clear signs of progress. Is this a good team that underperformed? A mediocre one hitting par? Or both, given the scale of change and injuries? Either way, it really was our pleasure, beaches.Belated Happy Valentine's Day. We love you Argyle, we do.

This special episode jumps out of our usual chronological retelling of British broadcasting's back-story, for the tale of pirate radio, especially Radio Caroline, courtesy of broadcaster, author and radio expert Ray Clark. Ray's book Radio Caroline: The True Story of the Boat that Rocked is highly recommended - a fascinating part of cultural history that he's brilliantly researched and retold. Get it from his website or where you get books (link below). Plus, as host Paul prepares for a new live show (Four Monarchs and a Mic: The BBC's Royal Engineer) on influential Outside Broadcast engineer RH Wood, this episode's bookended with some classic clips of Woody's broadcasts - coronations, state funerals, Churchill's war speeches, the Crystal Palace fire, the Boat Race, the first rugby commentary (re-enactment!)... Oh and a certain drunken commentary - Tommy Woodroffe on how 'The Fleet's Lit Up'. Hear it as you've never heard it before, with the engineer's commentary of what came before and after - how and why Tommy ended up inebriated on air, and where he went next... What a tale. Rebellion and rogueishness in the air then, and on it. Enjoy! (And if you like it, share it? Thanks, pals)   SHOWNOTES: Ray Clark's website is rayradio.co.uk - get his Radio Caroline book there For more on pirate radio history, see offshoreradio.co.uk or offshoreechos.com Paul's new live show on OB engineer RH Wood - if you're quick - is on at Leicester Comedy Festival on Sat 7 Feb - Four Monarchs and a Mic: The BBC's Royal Engineer. Imagine creating a swimsuit so good it would have to be banned. That's what Jason Rance and his team at Speedo did ahead of the Beijing Olympic Games in August 2008. Wearing the LZR Racer swimsuit, United States swimmer Michael Phelps won a record eight gold medals at the Water Cube. Athletes wearing the swimsuit would shatter 30 world records in the space of three months. The reduction in skin friction drag was so significant, some called it "technological doping". The suit developed with space agency Nasa had no seams, featured a special water-repellent fabric and had a design covering the legs which lifted the swimmer's hips in the water. It caused a furore with athletes ditching sponsorship agreements with rival firms to get hold of it. A slew of copycats came on the market before the design was banned from future competitions. Jason Rance who was the head of Speedo's research and development Aqualab, reveals to Josephine McDermott the behind-the-scenes development which would turn competitive swimming on its head.Eye-witness accounts brought to life by archive and testimony. Sporting Witness is for those fascinated by sporting history. We take you to the events that have shaped the sports world through the eyes of the people who were there. For nine minutes, you become a fan in the stands as we take you back in time to examine memorable victories and agonising defeats from all over the world. You'll hear from people who have achieved sporting immortality, or those who were there as incredible sporting moments unfolded.Recent episodes explore the forgotten football Women's World Cup, the plasterer who fought a boxing legend, international football's biggest ever beating and the man who swam the Amazon river. We look at the lives of some of the most famous F1 drivers, tennis players and athletes as well as people who've had ground-breaking impact in their chosen sporting field, including: the most decorated Paralympian, the woman who was the number 1 squash player in the world for nine years, and the first figure skater to wear a hijab. You can learn all about fascinating and surprising stories, such as the tennis player who escaped the Nazis, how a man finally beat a horse in a race, and how the FIFA computer game was created.(Photo: Swimmer Michael Phelps in the Speedo LZR Racer. It was a challenging year to be a Diaspora Jew. The war in Gaza and growing hostility to Israel had an undeniable impact on Jewish life across the world in 2025. Events in Israel became a focus in local and national politics around the world – and served as a catalyst in a global surge in antisemitism. The year was punctuated by horrific and deadly attacks against Jews from Washington D.C. to Manchester to Australia’s Bondi Beach. On this special episode of the Haaretz Podcast, we revisit episodes from the past year featuring the voices of Diaspora Jews, along with Haaretz journalists covering the Jewish world. The conversations include Brooklyn Rabbi Rachel Timoner on the impact of Zohran Mamdani’s candidacy for New York City mayor, Rabbi Delphine Horvilleur on the complexity of advocating for the hostages and a cease-fire agreement. Also on the podcast: American Jewish Committee CEO Ted Deutsch following the terror attack at his organization’s event, and Lynda Ben Menashe, a Jewish leader in Sydney Australia after the Bondi Beach massacre, and many more. Among the featured Haaretz journalists: English edition editor-in-chief Esther Solomon, Washington D.C. correspondent Ben Samuels and Jewish world correspondent Judy Maltz. Just before midnight on December 6, 1991, an Austin, TX patrol officer called in a fire at a yogurt shop and requested firefighters and additional officers. Once they managed to get the fire under control, firefighters discovered the bodies of four teenage girls in the burned out remains of the building, all having been shot execution style and the building torched to cover up the crime.Almost immediately, investigators on the case ran into a dead end, as leads were scarce and the fire and efforts to extinguish it destroyed or compromised critical evidence. In short time, the case went cold and the residents of Austin moved on. To their surprise, nearly ten years later, Austin detectives announced they'd arrested for young men for the crime, two of whom confessed, and it seemed like, after a long delay, justice would finally be served; however, in this case, justice was still a long way off and when it finally arrived, it came tainted by police misconduct.ReferencesAssociated Press. 1992.
