But I just think because there was a lot of hurt and misunderstanding around our time together that it would be difficult not to keep bringing up the past. I think what needs to happen is there needs to be a Megadeth/Metallica tour. Period. That would, I'm sure, make everything right. We could hang out. Spend time together. Imagine creating a swimsuit so good it would have to be banned. That's what Jason Rance and his team at Speedo did ahead of the Beijing Olympic Games in August 2008. Wearing the LZR Racer swimsuit, United States swimmer Michael Phelps won a record eight gold medals at the Water Cube. Athletes wearing the swimsuit would shatter 30 world records in the space of three months. The reduction in skin friction drag was so significant, some called it "technological doping". The suit developed with space agency Nasa had no seams, featured a special water-repellent fabric and had a design covering the legs which lifted the swimmer's hips in the water. It caused a furore with athletes ditching sponsorship agreements with rival firms to get hold of it. A slew of copycats came on the market before the design was banned from future competitions. Jason Rance who was the head of Speedo's research and development Aqualab, reveals to Josephine McDermott the behind-the-scenes development which would turn competitive swimming on its head.Eye-witness accounts brought to life by archive and testimony. Sporting Witness is for those fascinated by sporting history. We take you to the events that have shaped the sports world through the eyes of the people who were there. For nine minutes, you become a fan in the stands as we take you back in time to examine memorable victories and agonising defeats from all over the world. You'll hear from people who have achieved sporting immortality, or those who were there as incredible sporting moments unfolded.Recent episodes explore the forgotten football Women's World Cup, the plasterer who fought a boxing legend, international football's biggest ever beating and the man who swam the Amazon river. We look at the lives of some of the most famous F1 drivers, tennis players and athletes as well as people who've had ground-breaking impact in their chosen sporting field, including: the most decorated Paralympian, the woman who was the number 1 squash player in the world for nine years, and the first figure skater to wear a hijab. You can learn all about fascinating and surprising stories, such as the tennis player who escaped the Nazis, how a man finally beat a horse in a race, and how the FIFA computer game was created.(Photo: Swimmer Michael Phelps in the Speedo LZR Racer. It was a challenging year to be a Diaspora Jew. The war in Gaza and growing hostility to Israel had an undeniable impact on Jewish life across the world in 2025. Events in Israel became a focus in local and national politics around the world – and served as a catalyst in a global surge in antisemitism. The year was punctuated by horrific and deadly attacks against Jews from Washington D.C. to Manchester to Australia’s Bondi Beach. On this special episode of the Haaretz Podcast, we revisit episodes from the past year featuring the voices of Diaspora Jews, along with Haaretz journalists covering the Jewish world. The conversations include Brooklyn Rabbi Rachel Timoner on the impact of Zohran Mamdani’s candidacy for New York City mayor, Rabbi Delphine Horvilleur on the complexity of advocating for the hostages and a cease-fire agreement. Also on the podcast: American Jewish Committee CEO Ted Deutsch following the terror attack at his organization’s event, and Lynda Ben Menashe, a Jewish leader in Sydney Australia after the Bondi Beach massacre, and many more. Among the featured Haaretz journalists: English edition editor-in-chief Esther Solomon, Washington D.C. correspondent Ben Samuels and Jewish world correspondent Judy Maltz. Hollywood’s most famous power players are under pressure. As Tyler Perry is hit with a second sexual assault lawsuit, longtime allies including Oprah Winfrey, Meghan Markle, Prince Harry, and even the Obamas have gone strikingly silent. Meanwhile, Brooklyn Beckham and Nicola Peltz are fueling a new family feud after a Christmas post appeared to snub David and Victoria Beckham — just as Meghan and Harry face fresh chaos with their 11th publicist quitting amid the Kardashian photo drama. In a deeply emotional and high-energy final hour, Brandon Tierney takes his last lap on WFAN, proving exactly why he is "unkillable." From reminiscing about playing for the Bronx Angels and driving his dad's Nissan Maxima to the grueling days on Ron Hunt's farm in Missouri, BT bridges the gap between his childhood dreams and his professional reality. The hour reaches a fever pitch when his father, "Pops," calls in to recount the cross-country odyssey—from Allentown to Las Vegas to Detroit—that finally brought Brandon back to the station he grew up idolizing. BT addresses the listeners with raw honesty, discussing the Craig Carton situation with grace, celebrating his love for St. John's and the Knicks, and delivering a tearful, powerful message to the fans: "Anything you received from me, I received more from you." It's a fiery, authentic farewell to a New York staple who earned every second of his time in the pinstripes of sports radio

Willie Jackson, the Manukau Urban Māori Authority, and 19 personal grievance cases now before the Employment Relations Authority. This episode of Duncan Garner: Editor in Chief breaks down a fast-moving and explosive political story. Duncan is joined by veteran trade unionist Matt McCarten, who is representing workers alleging bullying and unsafe workplace behaviour at MUMA. 19 workers have taken the extraordinary step of filing grievances at the same time, after months of failed attempts to resolve the issues internally. The conversation examines the role of MUMA CEO Tania Rangiheuea, and the involvement of her husband, Labour list MP Willie Jackson. Why was a union representative trespassed? Why were workers afraid to put their names to documents? And why, after warnings, did the matter escalate to court? With millions of dollars of public funding involved and senior political figures drawn into the dispute, Duncan argues the real damage may lie not just in the allegations, but in how they have been handled. Just before midnight on December 6, 1991, an Austin, TX patrol officer called in a fire at a yogurt shop and requested firefighters and additional officers. Once they managed to get the fire under control, firefighters discovered the bodies of four teenage girls in the burned out remains of the building, all having been shot execution style and the building torched to cover up the crime.Almost immediately, investigators on the case ran into a dead end, as leads were scarce and the fire and efforts to extinguish it destroyed or compromised critical evidence. In short time, the case went cold and the residents of Austin moved on. To their surprise, nearly ten years later, Austin detectives announced they'd arrested for young men for the crime, two of whom confessed, and it seemed like, after a long delay, justice would finally be served; however, in this case, justice was still a long way off and when it finally arrived, it came tainted by police misconduct.ReferencesAssociated Press. 1992. We kicked things off by showing our freshly repainted Samick Avion / Greg Bennett mini guitar — HUGE shout-out to Ron! This little beast started life as a black eBay car guitar, but now it's a champagne flip-flop copper ripper loaded with an Epiphone humbucker, Pure Tone jack, and Grover tuners. We played it, loved it, ROCKED it.

An ITV investigation reveals a former Buckingham Palace warden secretly moonlighted as a neo-Nazi propagandist — proving once again that nothing good happens when “royal service” meets “far-right forum.” King Charles, meanwhile, embraced a 105-year-old WWII veteran who fought the original Nazis, reminding Britain what actual courage looks like. The New York Times wonders if the monarchy itself is running out of time, while Prince Harry's phone-hacking case collapses after a key witness claims his testimony was forged. Even by royal standards, that's one chaotic news cycle.Hear our new show "Crown and Controversy: Prince Andrew" here.Check out "Palace Intrigue Presents: King WIlliam" here.
