Then things get even better as they welcome actress, model, and golf-world favorite Jena Sims to the pod. Jena opens up about how she met Brooks Koepka, what life on tour is really like, motherhood, her journey to becoming a Sports Illustrated Swimsuit model, and what it was like navigating the LIV-to-PGA TOUR headlines. The 2026 Winter Olympics ended on a very Jewish note with an overtime goal scored by NHL star Jack Hughes. Brother Quinn Hughes, also a member of the gold-medal winning American team, has a legitimate chance to lead his team, the Minnesota Wild, to a Stanley Cup this year. With the Winter Olympics behind us, there's so much more to catch up on in the world of Jews and sports. The World Baseball Classic kicked off last weekend, and Team Israel secured its spot in the next tournament — which will happen in a few years — with a 5-0 win over Nicaragua. The bats are solid, but pitching depth remains a challenge in a pool led by powerhouse Dominican Republic, as well as Venezuela. Team Israel was eliminated from the 2026 tournament, with a record of 2-2 and finished a respectable third place in Pool D. Daniel Berger narrowly lost the Arnold Palmer Invitational on the PGA Tour, and in the NBA, Deni Avdija returned from an injury. Andy and Brendan are just about ready to head down to Ponte Vedra for a "major" March event, but we've already missed out on one Players tradition! Andy can't believe that the yearly TPC Sawgrass arrival videos did not make it into Sunday's Arnold Palmer Invitational broadcast. NBC couldn't cut away from a duel between Daniel Berger and Akshay Bhatia on the back nine that ended with Akshay's third playoff win on the PGA Tour. The two break down Bhatia's comeback win and standing in the game as one of the premier players under the age of 25. The constant comparisons between Rickie Fowler and Arnold Palmer and some complaints from Justin Thomas regarding the setup at Bay Hill also feature prominently in this Arnold Palmer Invitational recap. The Players DID release their featured groups on Sunday afternoon, leaving a spot for an injured(?) Rory McIlroy and a struggling Justin Thomas to be on non-stop coverage for the first two rounds. Andy's "Event of the Week," the Puerto Rico Open, was "must see TV" with a leaderboard full of young talent including John Daly II, Blades Brown, and winner Ricky Castillo. Patrick Reed notched another DP World Tour top 10, but could not stop the blaze of Dan Bradbury at the Joburg Open. Brendan then shifts the conversation to Jon Rahm's win at LIV Hong Kong, his first individual win since 2024. Neither Brendan nor Andy are moved much by this win for Rahm and point out that maybe playing a LIV schedule is not the best preparation for a major championship, unlike the test presented by Bay Hill this week. Lastly on results, Zach Johnson is one-for-one in his Champs Tour career, taking down the James Hardie Pro Football Hall of Fame Invitational! Sorry to all Ben Crane bettors, as he finished outside of the top 30 in his Senior Tour debut. This Gambling Podcast regrets the error. Check back on Tuesday as Andy and Brendan go live(?) to preview the 2026 Players Championship! Thank you to Optum for their support of our Players Championship coverage.
Akshay Bhatia delivered one of the most electric Sundays of the PGA Tour season at Bay Hill, draining over 144 feet of putts and storming back to win the Arnold Palmer Invitational in a playoff. Smylie Kaufman and Charlie Hulme break down how Bhatia's short game carried him to victory on brutally firm, “crispy” greens that had the entire field on edge all week. The guys also dive into Daniel Berger's incredible comeback, analyzing the encouraging signs after nearly two years battling injuries and setbacks. Plus, they discuss strong performances from Ludvig Åberg, Cam Young, and Collin Morikawa, what it means heading into THE PLAYERS Championship, and why Bay Hill's setup produced one of the most entertaining tournaments of the season. And of course, things get chaotic when Judge Jaxon Brown enters the courtroom to rule on the Rory McIlroy withdrawal in the show's One-and-Done contest.Follow us on socials @thesmylieshow ⛳️ & don't forget to like, comment, & subscribe for more golf insight ✅CHAPTERS:0:00 – Bay Hill delivers2:06 – Golf season is officially back3:08 – Bay Hill's greens4:14 – Smylie's “Snap, Crackle, Pop” crispy greens rankings6:47 – Major championship courses with the craziest greens10:15 – Akshay Bhatia21:04 – The clutch putts that saved Bhatia's round23:40 – Daniel Berger29:13 – Bay Hill's intimidating visuals and pressure moments31:10 – Scottie Scheffler34:12 – Cam Young37:04 – Ludvig Åberg38:12 – Collin Morikawa38:48 – The Rory McIlroy One-and-Done controversy47:36 – Ryder Cup49:00 – Luke Donald's leadership and Europe's continuity50:30 – Could Tiger Woods captain the U.S.?55:30 - Jon Rahm1:10:00 – Closing thoughts and wrap-up#pgatour #golfpodcast #smylieshow #smyliekaufman #golfhighlights

It was good to see Akshay Bhatia overcome a mistake he made at 15 to win the tournament with a big clutch shot that was hit on a closing hole coming in. It ended in a playoff with Akshay beating Daniel Berger to win in Orlando. After a trip to the eye doctor, Andy is locked in for this Friday episode and is immediately thrilled by an unsubstantiated rumor from Brendan! about an ill-timed tattoo. PJ is out on a trip with his fellow Boy, leaving the two to recap Daniel Berger's stellar Thursday at Bay Hill by themselves. Andy and Brendan discuss signs of life from DB and Ludvig Åberg before debating whether the Arnold Palmer Invitational should replace The Players as the PGA Tour's "major." They agree that the setup is closer to a major championship test than March at TPC Sawgrass with Brendan claiming something can't be a major if they're playing ball-in-hand every year. After a brief bowling interlude, Andy decides that Luke Donald's third consecutive Ryder Cup captaincy is NOT an issue, much to PJ's dismay. In (potentially) related captaincy news, Brendan is still on cloud nine following the big Jup Links win and Tom Kim's ace that sent Tiger's team to the TGL playoffs. Will Tiger tee it up in the first round against the Ballfrogs? We have two weeks to find out. Jon Rahm will be teeing it up in South Africa soon, which Rory McIlroy seemed to think he may not be too happy about. Rory was asked to comment on Rahm's ongoing fight with the DP World Tour and we may have a beef breweing between these Ryder Cup teammates! Finally, Andy and Brendan share some college football tales from Augusta in honor of legendary coach and broadcaster Lou Holtz, who passed away on Wednesday evening.

Ep. 551 Daniel Berger, Discipling a Fool's Heart by Rick Thomas
Shows Main Idea – Godly parents and educators ponder how they can practically help their child turn from being a foolish youth to becoming a wise lover of Christ (Proverbs 1:22-23). In this interview with Dr. Daniel Berger, you will find encouragement and clear direction as you parent your child, mature in friendship, and increase your skill as a biblical counselor. -PGA Championship review -Discussing Colonial -Talking top 7 on odds board -1 t10, 1 t20 -2 outrights (+250, 45/1) -Sleeper -2 FRP, 2 lineups, Scoring, best bet -Soudal outright & t10 The podcast, hosted by Will Doctor, offers a comprehensive preview of the Charles Schwab Challenge at Colonial Country Club and touches on the Soudal Open. Doctor begins with praise for world number one Scottie Scheffler, forecasting his victory at Colonial and noting his dominant Texas swing. Scheffler's recent win at the PGA Championship marked his 15th PGA Tour title before age 29, aligning him with legends like Nicklaus and Woods. Doctor outlines Scheffler's stats from the event, highlighting his final round resilience, including an eagle on 14, critical birdies on 14 and 15, and solid putting after initial struggles. Randy Smith, Scheffler's coach, described this performance as possibly the most rewarding round Scheffler has played. Doctor critiques his own PGA Championship betting card, noting it only yielded a half-unit gain despite hits on Scheffler (+550) and DeChambeau (Top 10). He reflects on losses from backing McIlroy, Thomas, and Im, delving into McIlroy's inaccuracy off the tee, failed iron play, and silence following a USGA equipment test that deemed his driver nonconforming. Justin Thomas's underperformance is attributed to poor ball striking, while Jon Rahm's fade despite elite ball striking was due to putting failures. The host shifts to Colonial course analysis, highlighting a $25 million renovation aimed at restoring Perry Maxwell's original design. Though some greens now appear less aesthetic, the redesign added hydronic systems to preserve bentgrass surfaces. Doctor stresses the importance of accuracy and iron sharpness over distance, favoring creative shot-shapers and bentgrass specialists. Scheffler is his top pick again at +250, citing his exceptional iron play and previous Colonial results. Daniel Berger, though strong with irons recently, is dismissed due to weak putting on bentgrass. Fleetwood, Spieth, Matsuyama, and McNeely are similarly passed over due to poor form or course misfit. Two featured picks to place are Davis Riley (Top 10 at +350), praised for improved driving and short game despite iron inconsistencies, and Aaron Rai (Top 20 at +130), celebrated for precision and bentgrass putting. Doctor's outright longshot is JT Poston (45-1), noted for consistent driving, improving irons, and elite putting, making him an ideal Scheffler challenger. The sleeper pick is Thor Bjorn Olsen to Top 10 at 6-1, based on positive recent form and favorable putting surface. First-round bets include Scheffler (Top 10 at even) and Harry Hall (Top 10 at 5-1), with Hall's strong putting and improved iron play highlighted. Two fantasy lineups are shared. The DraftKings lineup features Poston, Rai, Riley, Hall, Olsen, and David Ford—a top-ranked amateur with Colonial experience. The PGA Tour fantasy team mirrors this with Ford and Olsen benched. Doctor forecasts a 12-under winning score and pegs Poston (Top 10 at 3-1) as the best bet. For the Soudal Open, Thomas Pieters is tipped to win at 22-1 and to Top 10 at +225. Doctor notes Pieters' revived iron play and strong finishes in past editions of the home event. The episode concludes with a promo code and a sign-off promising updates from the next major venue. Will Doctor brings you the sharpest golf picks and information for this weeks Zurich Classic and Chevron Championship. Will Doctor's Golf Preview Podcast, recorded from the Nicholas Course at Carlton Woods, dives deep into betting picks and performance analysis for the Zurich Classic of New Orleans, the Chevron Championship, and briefly, the Veritex Bank Championship. Opening with a recap of the RBC Heritage, Doctor praises Justin Thomas for winning his 16th PGA Tour title after a playoff with Andrew Novak. Thomas posted a 61 in round one and closed with a bogey-free 68. Novak, described as the American Jon Rahm, impressed with elite short game and iron play, though he missed key putts, notably a 10-footer on the 13th. Doctor criticizes himself for failing to include Novak in his bets, noting Novak's three final group appearances and five top-15 finishes in 2025. The podcast reflects on several betting losses, including missing JT's surge and Novak's rise. The card was down 6.7 units, adding to an overall deficit of 81.2 units for the season. Scottie Scheffler's T8 finish was dissected, focusing on a critical double bogey on 15 caused by a tricky lie in the waste area. Despite superb ball-striking, putting lapses limited his contention. Daniel Berger's T3 finish came with elite ball-striking but poor putting early in the week. Other near-miss bets included JT Poston (T11), Sungjae Im losing the top Asian bet to Siwoo Kim, and Ryan Gerard's bogey on 18, which destroyed a top 20 ticket. Garrick Higgo's win at Corrales Punta Cana, his second PGA Tour victory, was a notable miss for Will, who lamented overlooking Higgo despite strong form in previous starts. For the Zurich Classic, two outright bets are offered. Andrew Novak and Ben Griffin at 28/1 are highlighted for elite ball-striking and top-tier putting. Griffin's form shows recent putting struggles, but his strong Bermuda putting history is encouraging. Billy Horschel and Tom Hoge, also at 28/1, are touted for their pairing of elite putting and solid recent results. Horschel's Zurich history includes two wins and a second-place finish, while Hoge has four straight T18 finishes with resurgent driving accuracy. A top 20 bet on Nico Echavarria and Max Greyserman at +130 is based on their elite Bermuda putting and last year's T4 result. Their recent ball-striking is a concern, but their putting could carry them into the top 20 if they strike it average. Doctor explores other pairings but passes on Carl Yuan and Michael Thorbjornsen due to inconsistency and on Isaiah Salinda and Kevin Velo due to Velo's below-average stats. At the Chevron Championship, hosted again at the Nicholas Course, the course demands power and precision, favoring long hitters due to tight driving lanes and potentially soft greens. Nelly Korda is picked to win at 9/1. She won here in 2024 and continues to be elite across all metrics, especially improving putting. Ingrid Lindblad is the value pick, taken at 70/1 to win and 4/1 to finish top 10. She recently won in just her third LPGA start and ranks high in driving, approach, and putting stats, although her short game remains untested at this venue. Finally, Doctor previews his visit to the Veritex Bank Championship, with plans to gather insights on-site and update picks via social media. He teases future episodes from the Byron Nelson at TPC Craig Ranch and the Truest Championship at Philadelphia Cricket Club. The podcast closes with a promo code for picks at pregame.com and a strong focus on preparing for the upcoming stretch of the season. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Andy is on cloud nine for this Victory Monday episode, as Illinois alum Thomas Detry won the WM Phoenix Open going away. Brendan and Andy discuss Detry's first PGA Tour win and his outstanding play on the weekend that earned him a champagne shower and victory hugs on the 18th green from international stars like Matt Wallace, Ryan Fox, and Christiaan Bezuidenhout. The two wrap up more stories from Phoenix, including a big week from Jordan Spieth, a tie for second from Daniel Berger, and a faulty back nine from Scottie Scheffler on Sunday. Rasmus Hojgaard also received some flowers from Andy, leading to a wider conversation about possible European Ryder Cuppers in February. Andy and Brendan then recap the golf weekend across the rest of the world. They share their favorite Haotong Li memories as a way to commemorate his win on the DP World Tour and wonder how the U.S. Virgin Islands became the title sponsor for the LPGA's Founders Cup. PJ jumps in to detail how Bob Papa was growing the game of golf in Morocco while covering Miguel Angel Jimenez's win on the Champions Tour. The golf recaps close with a segment on LIV's debut under the lights, where Andy calls winner Adrian Meronk the "GOAT of Night Golf." This episode ends with a brief discussion about Tiger Woods playing in next week's Genesis at Torrey Pines, a place where he's won eight times.

SportsGuyTy and ShallowCal return to the podcast after a long winter's nap. It's been three years since the heartbreak at Waialae for ShallowCal on Russell Henley, but only two years since tipping 1st and 2nd in 2023. As always, tips picks and best bets for the 2025 Sony Open at Waialae.
With the PGA Tour's FedEx Fall wrapped up, Andy Johnson is joined by Joseph LaMagna and Sean Martin to discuss their key takeaways from the last eight tournaments of 2024. The three discuss the standout play of amateur Luke Clanton and how PGA Tour U may create new stars in the game with an accelerated path to tour cards, the successful first-ever Black Desert Championship in Utah, and Daniel Berger's resurgence on his way back from years of injuries. Additionally, they talk through the ongoing changes facing PGA Tour membership and Andy once again pleads a free-flowing mega-tour with a constant churn of promotion and relegation.
Andy and Brendan are together again for a Monday episode wrapping up the end of both the PGA Tour and LPGA seasons. Before getting to that, Andy has some thoughts on Golf Channel's coverage of the Australian PGA Championship late Saturday night, as the broadcast cut to commercial after the approach shots on the 72nd hole. Although we didn't entirely see how, Elvis Smylie made his par and secured his first DP World Tour win, holding off Cam Smith in the final group. From there, the two discuss the RSM Classic, the final event of the FedEx Fall and the end of the 2024 PGA Tour season. Maverick McNealy won his first PGA Tour event with a birdie on the final hole, leaving Luke Clanton, Daniel Berger, and Nico Echavarria (and his minute) in a tie for second. Brendan and Andy give props to McNealy on his first win after an up-and-down career so far before questioning how Luke Clanton, an amateur, has not secured a PGA Tour card yet despite his four top ten finishes this season. Brendan also shares a quote from Daniel Berger about how just 10% of his peak play is at a "different level" than most of the guys he's competing with. Lastly, Andy and Brendan take a look at the top 125 bubble at the conclusion of the FedEx Fall, where Joel Dahmen kept his card using the 13 FedEx Cup points he got for free in the no-cut Zozo. Next, they talk through the CME Tour Championship on the LPGA Tour, won by Jeeno Thitikul, making her the big financial winner of this season and NOT Nelly Korda. Lexi Thompson, playing in her final event as a full-time player, expressed some displeasure at split tees on Sunday due to the TV broadcast window, which did not allow her to finish her career on the 18th hole. With golf talk wrapped up, Brendan details the biggest event of the day - the Maplewood 11U football team against Major Tuddy and his band of misfit mascots at Northwest Field. The kids shut out the mascots, winning 13-0 with two forced turnovers in the short game. Major Tuddy did get some hits in though, with footage of a personal foul after an interception making the rounds on Twitter. Andy is fired up about the "best case scenario" of another Bears loss with Caleb Williams looking great, as the 'Flus must be cut loose after this season. PJ shares that Bob Papa is not pleased with the New York Giants and the three make another pitch for a godfather offer to bring him to the Champions Tour full time. To finish this episode, everyone goes back and forth about the inaugural Year in Review livestream, coming to YouTube at some point this week.
