“He has made glorious…Galilee”. As the new day of hope dawned, the first rays of light shone in Galilee. Isaiah foretells that the victory of this Child [v.4-5] will be as unusual and unlikely as the victory over Midian. Unlikely, yes - but it will come, and with it the end of all conflict. The reason this Child is born is so that He might become Immanuel, God with us. His name is Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Jesus took our place to give us His peace. Peace floods the soul when Christ rules the heart.

Darkness. Gloom. Despair. Those words don't exactly sound like Christmas, do they? 'Merry & Bright' and 'Joy to the World' is where we generally land. Without the gift of that baby so long ago, though, mourning and desperation would be all this world would know. Think of it like this... it would always be winter, but never Christmas.

In this pilot of the "Songs Of Christmas" series, Pastor Joey looks at the musical intro of the birth narrative as found in Isaiah 9 as we are introduced to the coming birth of the Messiah. We discover how the gospel sheds light into the darkness, producing a hopeful expectation! This is GOOD NEWS for Israel as the Jews are facing judgment and it's GOOD NEWS for us today as the gospel provides salvation from judgment!
