Luke 2:8-20And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.”Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying,“Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.”When the angels had left them and gone into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, “Let's go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about.”So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby, who was lying in the manger. When they had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child, and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them. But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart. The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things they had heard and seen, which were just as they had been told.

Project Audion is back with Bob Hope who was one of the 20th century's greatest entertainers: in vaudeville and movies, and especially his radio (and later TV) comedies, so often performed in front of appreciative US servicemen, kept America smiling for better than six decades. He became an icon of American humor, and it is a special task to bring the Hope style back to life. But now Project Audion premieres a "new" 1940s-era Bob Hope radio show, thanks to the pen of former Hope writer Robert L. Mills, the vocal wizardry of Bill Johnson, and Project Audion's versatile voice actors. In this new Christmas creation, Bob's guest star is Lana Turner, who joins him to spoof the classic movie "Double Indemnity." It's a show to make you smile! Learn more about your ad choices. In this stirring and deeply encouraging Advent message, Pastor Karl continues the series The King Has Come with a raw and life-giving exploration of the second great gift Jesus brings: peace.Turning to the familiar yet profound scene in Luke 2:8–20, Pastor Karl invites us into the midnight terror of ordinary shepherds—suddenly confronted by the blinding glory of God—and shows how the very first words from heaven that night were not “Merry Christmas,” but “Fear not.” That first Christmas did not begin with sentimental calm; it began with paralyzing, mega-fear. And right there, in the middle of stacked-on-stacked fear, the angel announced good news of great joy: a Savior has been born who is Christ the Lord, the Prince of Peace. With pastoral tenderness and unflinching honesty, Pastor Karl unmasks fear as the mortal enemy of peace—how it magnifies threats, shrinks our view of God, and paints our future in colors darker than God ever intended. Yet the gospel is stronger: peace is not the absence of trouble but the presence of a Person. Peace is not something Jesus gives; peace is who Jesus is—and He gives Himself.Through the shepherds' journey from terror to testimony, we're given clear, scriptural paths out of fear and into the unshakable peace of Christ: speaking God's truth over fear's lies, refusing to agree with the spirit of fear, drawing near to Jesus through spiritual disciplines, and taking bold steps of obedience that move us against comfort and toward surrender. This is a word for everyone whose heart has been ruled by anxiety, worst-case scenarios, or the quiet fears that steal joy—especially in this season. A tender yet urgent call to stop trusting the unknown future to our own control and start trusting it to the known God who entered our fear as a baby in a manger.Because the King has come, fear does not get the final word. Peace does. And when the Prince of Peace takes over a life, what spills out is no longer fear—but praise, testimony, and unshakable confidence in the goodness of God.Essential listening for anyone who longs to trade fear for the peace that passes all understanding this Christmas.Watch all our sermons on our youtube channel "Flipside Christian Church"Join us in person 9:00am & 10:30am every Sunday morning.37193 Ave 12 #3h, Madera, CA 93636For more visit us at flipside.churchFor more podcasts visit flipsidepodcasts.transistor.fm
The sermon teaches that God is a promise-making God who delights in our faith, and therefore He often allows seasons of waiting between His promises and their fulfillment. This waiting—illustrated through biblical examples like Genesis 3:15 and Noah—is where hope lives: a joyful, trusting anticipation rooted in God's character and past faithfulness. Ultimately, the Advent season invites Christians to embrace this hopeful waiting as we look to Jesus, the fulfillment of God's greatest promise.

Host Wayne Shepherd interviews Sergey Rakhuba, President of Mission Eurasia, who shares his journey from growing up in a Christian family in Soviet Ukraine to leading a ministry serving the former Soviet Union. (click for more...)Website: MissionEurasia.org Gift catalog: https://missioneurasia.org/your-gifts-change-lives/Sergey recalls his struggles with faith during his youth under Soviet pressure, his spiritual turning point after overhearing his parents' prayers, and the deepening of his faith while serving in the Soviet army. After studying at Moody Bible Institute and settling in the U.S., he began leading Mission Eurasia, which was headquartered in Irpin, Ukraine, until the facility was destroyed early in the Russian invasion. Undeterred, the ministry mobilized thousands of trained young Christian leaders to provide food, trauma counseling, Scripture, and hope to millions of displaced and suffering Ukrainians. Sergey describes programs such as Summer of Hope camps for children and Gift of Hope Christmas outreach, all designed to bring healing, comfort, and the message of Christ amid the devastation of war, concluding with a heartfelt prayer for Ukraine, its people, and the end of the conflict. "I had hoped things would have turned out differently." "I had hoped for a better outcome." "I had hoped for healing." We've all faced bitter disappointment when our hopes did not come to pass. Though things of the world are sure to disappoint us, we can anchor our hope to the One who will never leave us in our suffering. Join us for the introduction to the "Christmas at Venture" series, as we look at God's unfailing promise of HOPE.
Thank you for joining us for this week's message! The services for the four weeks will be preparing our hearts for Christmas, a period also known as Advent. Today, Pastor Chris brings us a message about hope, drawn from the story of Ruth and Naomi in the Old Testament. Hope in the lives of Believers is not wishful thinking, but an anchor in our storms and an assurance of a future reality, because we know that God is in control. If you prayed to make Jesus your Lord today, we want to rejoice with you! If you would want someone to pray with you, we are eager to do so! If you would like more information about our church, we're want to share. Please text the word "NEXT" to 407-77 so we can engage with you. Jonathan Kerhoulas. 1 John 1:1-4 ESV.
As we gather to celebrate the birth of our Savior, let's embrace the beautiful message of hope. Our Savior, born just like us, was a gift to humanity, sent to help us find redemption for our sins against God and one another. We've all had moments of feeling unworthy and burdened by guilt and shame, but it's important to remember that God is not just a judge; He is also a loving and forgiving God, ready to embrace us when we turn to Him with repentant hearts. Hope is a precious gift, and it's extended to everyone, no matter where you are on your spiritual journey. Will you choose to hold onto this incredible hope? Will you choose to hold onto Him? Join us this Christmas as we celebrate the hope that brings us together, fills our hearts with warmth, and guides us on a path of redemption and renewal. We all go through dark times of hopelessness and despair, and this leads some people to commit suicide. But if we can find a way to hang on, God sends angels with messages of hope to give us strength, move us back to the light, help us rediscover joy. This theme emerges as we reflect on the movie, "It's a Wonderful Life," and various passages of scripture.
