In this episode, Gordon has a conversation with The Rev. Caroline Vogel and The Rev. Dr. Billy Daniel about how we can practice kindness and compassion by reaching out to those around us, offering a helping hand, and showing understanding and empathy. They also talk about ways to build bridges between different communities, cultures, and beliefs by listening to each other and trying to understand one another's perspectives. One of the most important practices to foster kindness and compassion is self-compassion. Self-compassion is the practice of being kind to oneself and recognizing that we all make mistakes and have flaws. It is important to recognize that we all have our own unique set of experiences and that we can learn from our mistakes. Read more... The Rev. Daniel: Living Life as an Exile (Howard Brown) Daniel 1 (2/17/2019) by Christ Central Church
God has an incredible vision for your life. He has made it clear through His Word. He invites you to pray and to trust Him. His vision is started and perfected through His Son, Jesus Christ. Wherever you are in life today, take a next step of faith and obedience in your relationship with God. Commit your ways to Him and invest your life in what matters. God is drawing you close. He is inviting you to live an uncompromised life for His glory.
It is amazing to realize we have a direct line of communication with God. It's called prayer. Prayer is a powerful force. Through prayer we are able to acknowledge who God is and remember His faithfulness to us. Like Daniel, we must be willing to pursue guidance and strength through prayer even in the bleakest of circumstances.
The Book of Daniel offers us the only apocalyptic voice in the Old Testament. Why do these words of Eschatology matter? These words expand our view of God which encourages a high view of God leading to worship and fear. The words in Daniel define history and decode the future. These words elevate our understanding of Jesus and remind us that we are to always be about the King's business.
Against all odds, Daniel stayed faithful. Facing certain death, being thrown to the lions, Daniel resolved to be godly and to pray. Prayer is what sustains us through the challenges of life. Prayer puts our focus on God and reminds us that He is truly greater than anything we face. Our God is faithful, and He is calling us to be steadfast and bold in our love for Him. Are you faithful to God – even in the midst of your circumstances? Your obedience impacts more than just you, so trust in the Lord and be faithful.
Standing on truth starts with being set apart. We are called to live a holy life for God. That's what living uncompromised is all about.
God is drawing each of us to Himself. He is calling us to confess our sins, renounce our pride and put our faith in Him. God is always trying to get our attention and He will allow us to go through challenges in order for us to acknowledge His work in our lives. Have you repented of your pride and humbled yourself before Him? Just know that God loves you, and He wants you to live your life for Him. It is through Christ alone that we find hope, life and redemption.
What do you stand for in your life? We live in a world that encourages us to worship other “gods.” The “gods” of this world are money, success, and even other people. But, God calls us to worship Him only. When we put God first in our lives, our family, our finances and career, God is always faithful. In this world, we will go through hard times, but God always stands with us in the middle of it. Are you trusting God today? Your obedience impacts others. Are you living your life fully committed to Christ?
God can speak to and use whomever He wills whenever He wills it. He reveals all mysteries and is sovereign in every area of our lives.
Daniel is an incredible example of living an uncompromised life. Like Daniel, we find ourselves living in a pagan culture. This world is not our home. Our home is in heaven, but for now, we are living in this world. Daniel made a commitment to himself and to God not to defile himself. What commitments have you made in the area of character and integrity? Think about the man or woman you want to become, and then make the hard decisions that it takes to be all God desires.
