Two Old Bitches: Stories from Women who Reimagine, Reinvent and Rebel
Meenu Vadera greets the world and all it has to offer with curiosity and buckets of ideas and inspiration. We met Meenu in Delhi more than 10 years ago. A friend wisely advised us to hire newly-trained women chauffeurs to drive us around the city. These inspiring and fierce young women had graduated from the program that Meenu founded and led – Sakha Cabs for Women and its sister organization, Azad Foundation, which trains low-income women to become drivers. It continues to grow with more than 5,000 women in Delhi and other Indian cities prepared to work as private chauffeurs, taxi drivers, bus drivers and now in the newest initiative –as long-haul tractor trailer drivers! Meenu is both creating opportunities and safety for women, as well as challenging and changing the transport industry. That's Meenu. She makes the impossible possible. Which is why she has received numerous awards for being a groundbreaking social impact entrepreneur, a feminist inspiration to activists everywhere and a champion of women's and young people's leadership. As she enters her 60s, we wanted to hear about how she is thinking about what's next in her work (if any feminist angel investors are reading this blurb, Meenu wants to hear from you!)], what she thinks about ‘later daters' and pursuing pleasure, and how she interjects so much joy and generosity into the world. We are so thrilled that you get to share a part of the amazing energy that Meenu shared with us! ------------------------------ Visit www.twooldbitches.com Follow us on Instagram @twooldbitches, Twitter @TwoOldBitches, Facebook @TwoOBPodcast Created, Produced and hosted by Joanne Sandler & Idelisse Malavé Edited by Jeyda Bicer Social media management by Loubna Bouajaj

Meet Sarah Paiji Yoo, founder of Blueland, and accidental activist! Today I sat down with Sarah to discuss how she ended up founding Blueland and tackling the single-use plastic industry by developing a reusable option that at first seemed almost impossible! Her chemist didn't even know if it could be done. How did she start out at Harvard Business School but end up making the world a better place? Sarah dives into how she got started as an entrepreneur, starting with a company called Snapette in 2011. Once she sold that company, she went on to build Launch, which led to the companies M.Gemi and Rockets of Awesome. Motherhood had Sarah questioning what was in the drinking water she was using to prepare her son's formula, and from that research, she identified the need for a reduction in the use of plastics and safer, non-toxic cleaning products. Cleaning tablets, a new concept in the industry hadn't been done before and she didn't even know if it was possible.Sarah's journey is an amazing one, and it landed her on the hit show, Shark Tank. From there, Blueland's products took off and Sarah has single-handedly revolutionized the cleaning industry. Have a listen and hear how she did it!

There's something cool about the way our stories unfold when we offer what we have openly to be used however God sees fit. Whether it's a gift or a calling, perhaps it's a talent or a treasure. It's like God has such a unique way of calling us into what he knows we've been designed to do and then taking us along the journey and process to get there we never knew we needed. Back in the mid-1960s Bill Strickland was a directionless public school student in Pittsburgh who didn't really see a path for success for him or his fellow lower class, minority student friends. Then, one day he walked past a classroom and saw a teacher sitting at a pottery wheel — and that moment, and how he responded to it, changed his life. And since then has changed the lives of countless young people not only in Pittsburgh, but around the country and beyond. Manchester Bidwell Corporation (MBC) takes seemingly disparate elements — adult career training, youth arts education, jazz presentation and botanical sales (they grow orchids) — and combines them into a program with a proven record of positively changing the lives of underserved populations. Bill has helped start an additional 13 centers, including five in Pennsylvania, 6 in other US states, 1 in Puerto Rico, and 1 in Israel.
Show notes and transcript: https://designbetterpodcast.com/p/ok-go Not many bands hire Russian pilots to film a Zero-G video on their cosmonaut training plane, known as the “vomit comet”. But those are the kinds of extremes that OK Go will go to in the pursuit of creativity. Tim Nordwind and Damien Kulash, the band's founders, met at camp as pre-teens in search of a fellow creative nerd, and founded the band in 1998. Over the past 25 years, they've created 3 Grammy-nominated music videos, and won Best Music Video for Here It Goes Again. From the perfectly timed explosions filmed in slow-motion for their song The One Moment, to the immensely elaborate Rube Goldberg contraption they created for This Too Shall Pass, OK Go is almost like a performance-art troupe that just happens to be a fantastic rock band. In this episode on the creative process, we talk to Tim and Damian about how they come up with ideas, the macro and micro elements of their creativity, and achieving the impossible. Global supply chains reach the furthest corners of the earth, bringing back valuable, well-made goods and putting us in touch with people we may never meet. Some of the challenges of this are logistical like time zone differences and travel delays. Others are more cultural, and tie into the most core issues of relationship building: culture, communication, and trust. In this episode of The Sourcing Hero podcast, Host Kelly Barner welcomes Chris Volz, a Client Success Manager at China Performance Group. Chris has over two decades worth of experience in different verticals. He prides himself on his empathy, attention to detail, and innovative ideas… traits we could all use in greater concentration! Today I am letting you be a fly on the wall in a conversation I recorded between me and myself (and my guides), I recorded it in the car so the sound quality is horrific, sorry, but that's how this one comes. I am vulnerably letting you in on one of my impossible dreams while I explore the "logical" options in front of me and confirm my determination to create a different way (and repurpose that logic by using existing beliefs I currently have to support me). Perhaps it will inspire you to repurpose some of your own logic!

In this episode, Joe interviews one of the world's leading experts on human performance: New York Times bestselling author and Executive Director of the Flow Research Collective, Steven Kotler. Kotler's work explores the neurobiology of peak human performance, flow states, and aging, and the concept of getting our biology to work for us rather than against us in our later years, by using the parts of our brains that expand in our 50s, combined with neuroplasticity, learning by play, and the biggest factor: working toward a very difficult - but not impossible - task. His 30-year exploration of the neurobiology behind people accomplishing 'impossible' feats led him to test his theories by teaching himself to park ski at 53 with resounding success, then using his protocol with people up to 70 years old the next season. The story is told in his newest book about challenging tired concepts of aging, "Gnar Country." He discusses the power of flow states and how much flow actually amplifies productivity, motivation, wisdom, empathy, and more; why dynamic motion is a key activity for greater longevity and why skiing and similar action sports are some of the best examples; why dynamic activity in novel environments is even better; why changing one's mindset may be the biggest factor toward change; why corporations are looking at flow training and where these concepts could go in the future; and of course, how this all relates to psychedelics. Chris Barton founded the app Shazam twenty years ago in 2002, years before the iPod and iTunes had even been created. In fact, the flip phone had just come out. With an unwavering vision for what's possible – and a core principle of creating from the heart and building with the mind – Barton built one of the most popular apps of all time. Shazam has surpassed 1 billion downloads, and has hundreds of millions of active users daily. It was acquired by Apple in 2018 for $400 million, making it Apple's fifth largest acquisition. In this lively and inspiring conversation with Tony Robbins, Barton shares how his own perseverance made the impossible possible, and reveals how personal limitations can in fact be your superpower.
