What's good Revolutionaries? "if you're not waking up in the world to work on making an impact for someone else, then you are not living right" - Darius Baxter. Award-winning CEO of DC Based "Good Projects" joins me on the show to give a masterclass in how to answer our signature question and then go out in the world to make your revolution a reality. At a young age (he is still young) Darrius saw the need to change the mindset and circumstances of the most precious demographic in DC, its impoverished. His goal is to help 500 families move out of the ills of poverty into spaces where they can thrive, but first Darrius helps to change the mindset. In a riveting conversation, Darrius chronicles his ascendency, his spirituality, the need for rest, his relationship with his mother (Stephanie), his vulnerabiliy, and the importance of health and wellness. He believes like most of our guests that our revolutions are not just for us and that we must go out in the world and ensure that we are doing good, fulfilling work. It is that work, that will bring us joy and fulfillment. Thank you to my engineer Seko Varner and my associate Sarah for making all of this happen!

This week on another #EducationReboot episode of #MaxOutTime: GOODProjects DC Cofounder and 2021 Forbes 30 Under 30 honoree, Darius Baxter, discusses the GOODLearning Hub’s impact in Southwest DC (Ward 6). GOODProjects DC, founded by Darius and two fellow Georgetown University football alumni (Troye Bullock and Daniel Wright), known as the GOODGuys, aims to end poverty neighborhood-by-neighborhood by 2030 through family success planning and youth programming. The trio’s most recent project consists of a safe, socially distanced learning hub in the GOODZone, which is located in one of the most-impoverished neighborhoods in the Nation’s Capital. In order to bridge the digital divide, instructors offer educational and emotional services to nearly two dozen at-risk students inside the hub. In addition, through mentorship, education and service, the holistic approach to aiding our city’s most vulnerable youth has provided a safe space for them. Visit https://goodprojects.networkforgood.com/projects/50924-goodprojects-donation to join GOODProjects’ fight to alleviate 500 families from poverty in SW this decade. Season Two, Episode 31: Darius Baxter, The Selfish Giver Darius Baxter, CEO of GOODProjects, has made a vow to get 500 families out of poverty by 2030, and he thinks he is selfish. Because he enjoys giving to people, he enjoys empowering the impoverished community of South West Washington, D.C., and he enjoys paving the way for children in the projects to find a way out of the pattern they were born into. Darius is a fellow Georgetown alum, who met his best friends and co-founders in college. All three men grew up poor, with a childhood that could have left anyone traumatized. In Darius’s case, his father’s murder when he was 9-years-old resulted in being homeless, as his schoolteacher mother struggled to make ends meet. In 2016 GOODProjects began a summer camp to keep children off the streets and out of harm’s way, and employed older teens as counselors, to work and mentor these campers, or Dreamers, as they are referred to. Dreamers are fed three times a day and engage in academic enrichment, as well as fun and trauma counseling. In 2020, GOODProjects also began to pair Family Success Managers with the parents of the Dreamers in order to guide them towards self-sufficiency and out of poverty. This non-profit has done great things, and at 25-years-old, Darius is only at the beginning of the amazing work he will do throughout his life.
