We meet her next guest, Kelly Sharp at her home in Glastonbury Connecticut beautiful Friday afternoon. Kelley has a fantastic story one of lies, deception, manipulation, and ultimately courage. Kelly's an only child and at a very young age, her father was facing a divorce that led him to a small church and he convinced his wife to join and eventually of course Kelley was brought into the church, a place where women don't wear pants. No one watches, TV or movies or reads old books or is allowed on the Internet Women are subservient to their men. As you can imagine, Kelly didn't realize it and it's still coming to grips with it that she was raised in a cult. She has found out sense that everything she thought was normal has turned out to be a lie, and everything she was told to be afraid of, and stay away from these turned out to be something else. Kelly did everything she was supposed to do she married the pastor ultimately, but things begin to unwind, and she started to seek the truth. She left the church seven years ago, and is on her journey of discovering who she is, and what life is about but sadly along the way, she's lost her mom and her father before they could reconcile before they could come to an understanding. Join us as we hear Kelly's story of life in a cult. What it's like to be in it, how difficult it is to get out of it, the cost you have to pay for your freedom, and the courage it takes. For behind the scenes content of the making of The Jar, meet the guests, see some footage of unreleased podcast episodes and more visit : https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCaTqB1dhDvl0Oh505ysdxTgTo be a guest on the show email us at thejarguest@gmail.com or visit our webpage : https://www.thejar.live/Follow The Jar on Instagram : https://www.instagram.com/thejar_podcast/Follow The Jar on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/podcast.thejarDisclaimer: The views stated in this episode are our guest's opinions and do not represent the views, beliefs or opinions of The Jar Podcast. Welcome New Cultra Crew Members Evil Becky Burke, and James McCaffrey AKA Jimmy Mack! We had so much fun with them as guests that we had to have them aboard. They also do a lot of cool shit all the time, so the stories just flow. Actually it was the monkey’s call…. We are very excited to start this second season of Cultra and hope you are enjoying this as much as we are. It is our goal to share some laughs with you, and at the same time learn from each other about how to be better runners and people. We are all exploring and testing the limits of our bodies minds and spirits. We look to find new trails, friends, and to learn more about ourselves. In this episode Evil Becky shares her race details of the Trail Animals Race, To Hale and Back 6 Hour. Gotta love TARC! We also take a look at what it means to identify yourself as an Ultra Runner, and how we view ourselves impacts our lives. Then we share some awesome Cultra Karaoke talent, and learn some cool ultra running things by playing Cutramatic, our high pressure, insanely informative yet not usually boring except when we get involved in extra details that have nothing to do with what we actually wanted to say, but we ended up taking about them anyway… Since it’s a new Season, we figured it was time to shake up the monkey tree, and get a new intro. Special thanks to my boys Nick and Jack Byram for providing the Guitar and Vocals, and to family friend Jack Sevigny for mixing it all together and giving it a beat. If you are looking to have your own intro put together we will be adding a link to our site shortly so they can help you out too.  The CULTRA trail running podcast is a place where we can get together and discuss all the fun shit that happens on the trails, that most normal people don’t care about. One of the challenges of Ultra Running is keeping a positive attitude when things go bad. Becky Burke is an accomplished ultra runner who has faced and overcome many low spots in during her races. To help with the discussion this week we week we invited our Patreons Christina Chin-Hing and Jimmy Mac to come and join us in the studio to act as co hosts as we interview Becky. This show is a long form one on one interview with 20 year veteran Elite Trail Runner and environmentalist, Debbie Livingston. We could spend an entire episode discussing just the races that she has won. We could spend another episode discussing how to raise a fit and healthy family and getting them involved with trails and endurance sport. Or we could spend a few hours discussing the Cult of Ultra Culture and how it has changed in the last 20 years. That would still leave Yoga, coaching, trail advocacy, women’s rights, pregnancy and running, race directing, environmental issues, and a review of the most epic mountain trail routes in the North East. Today’s show is kind of a sampler of these things. The CULTRA trail running podcast is a place where we can get together and discuss all the fun stuff that happens on the trails, that most normal people don’t care about. In this episode, we embarrass ourselves in playing Cultramatic, a fast paced, running themed super high pressure, circular trivia game, and we get the Cultra Crew to take the Cultra Quiz. We also have a Cultra Karaoke session, playing some of the messages we have received from our listeners.  In addition to laughing pretty hard, we also take some time to say goodbye to Jordan, as this is likely her last podcast with us for a long time. We surprise her with some pretty emotional and at times hilarious Cultra Hotline messages that her family left.  We will miss her sharp wit, her trash talk, and most of all her friendship on the trails and in the studio, but are happy for her as she leaves to become a JAG in the US Airforce.  The CULTRA trail running podcast is a place where we can get together and discuss all the fun stuff that happens on the trails, that most normal people don’t care about.
