https://davidsalomonblog.wordpress.com/“More David Salomon”In the United States we have an unusual tradition of referring to graduation as “commencement.” To some this seems odd. After all, this is the end of the college journey, not the start. Many think it is meant as metaphor to indicate the beginning of the rest of one's life. Although that sounds romantic, the truth may be quite different.
Although Kant considered him the greatest critic of his work, and Fichte thought him the most impressive mind of the generation, Salomon Maimon (1753-1800) has fallen into relative obscurity. Apiqoros: The Last Essays of Salomon Maimon (Hebrew Union College Press, 2021) draws attention to works written during the final years of Maimon's life. These essays are of particular interest: they show that even though Maimon was a self-proclaimed apiqoros grappling with the implications of Kantian philosophy, his thinking remained deeply influenced by his Jewish intellectual inheritance, especially by Maimonides. The volume is divided into two parts. The first is a general account of Maimon's intellectual biography, along with commentary on his final essays. The second part provides translations of those essays, the principal themes of which concern moral psychology. The reader is thus able to see the degree to which Maimon, at the end of his life, became skeptical of his effort to unite Kant and Maimonides, and remained a thinker caught "between two worlds." The book concludes with a translation of an account of Maimon's final hours, penned by one of his friends. Learn more about your ad choices. In his youth, Bobby Africa, business mentor and ultra-endurance athlete, earned his nickname "Too Fast Africa" racing motocross for Kawasaki. Ironically, and perfectly, it was Regina's (his Process teacher) loving invitation to, "Slow it down, Bobby" that opened the door, even wider, to the healing that took place during his Process. In the first few days of his Process, Bobby (Bob's childhood nickname) began to feel safe and content. He realized he didn't have to be anything or anyone but simply himself. It was in this safety that he began to slow things down, feel his feelings, and dig into this profound healing work. Bobby courageously and vulnerably began to shine a bit of light into what was and what is in his words, "very dark." As he shares his story, you can hear, feel, and sense the profound Light within him that he re-discovered through the work of the Process. Bobby goes on to share with us how in his post-Process life he is using the Process tools to heal trauma and the associated patterns. Some of the deep understanding he came to realize at the Process - safety, loveable exactly as he is, and deep contentment - now support him as he heals even more within himself. Content warning: This conversation mentions violence and sexual abuse, and while not explicit in nature, may not be suitable for all audiences." More about Bobby Africa: Bobby Africa has been moving fast most of his life. Born in Pennsylvania as the youngest of three, he spent most of his time outside or playing competitive ice hockey, soccer, and racing motocross. His love for the outdoors took him to Colorado, where he earned degrees in Molecular Biology and Biochemistry at the University of Colorado at Boulder. Planning to attend medical school, Bobby deferred to travel the world for a year, spending nine months climbing, surfing, and working as a mountain guide in Africa and another three months in Europe. While in Europe, he visited Salomon, a company he was product testing for, and, as they say, the rest is history. He moved to France to work for Salomon and race professionally as a mountain athlete finding himself on a new path combining his love for playing in the mountains, product creation, and business. Bobby went on to hold key positions and lead companies such as Pearl Izumi, Kidrobot, Roofnest, and PopSockets. While at PopSockets, he was instrumental in their extraordinary growth from a small garage operation to the second fastest-growing company in the country in 2018. After leaving PopSockets in 2020, he had his “kitchen coffee moment” that ultimately led him to the Hoffman Process. Bobby continues leading businesses, mentoring leaders, and fostering authentic connections through TFA (TooFastAfrica) Strategy Partners. In addition, he co-founded Suffer Better, a Colorado-based nonprofit offering the endurance athlete community opportunities to preserve and protect their natural environment and support local communities. Most importantly, he continues to play in the mountains and be a dad to his daughter Sophia. Discover more about Bobby: Bob Africa on LinkedIn Interview with Bob at PodiumRunner.com Life Lessons with Boulder Athletes at DailyRunner.com Leadville Race Series: Meet your run camp guides with Bob Africa As mentioned in this episode: Leadville Race Series Safety Bobby and other Process graduates talk often about how safe they felt at Hoffman Process. Safety in healing work is absolutely necessary. Often, people haven't ever really felt safe in their lives. Read more about psychological safety here... Contentment A quote from Bobby about the contentment he found... “Contentment is a practice. It's not a feeling of accomplishment from doing something. Contentment is just being complete in the moment. In the moment there is just presence, no future, no past - just happy to be here, in the moment. Contentment is an attitude of the soul.” ~ Ram Dass https://media.blubrry.

He also talks about life after pursuing the pro skater dream, moving to Connecticut, becoming a physio therapist and starting his own family. We discuss the importance of leading indicators in understanding potential future outcomes for market and business cycles. By examining these indicators, investors can gain insight into the expansion, slowdown, contraction, and recovery phases of the business cycle. Fowler highlights the importance of macro regime distributions, which help identify how market performance, profits, and valuations cluster around the business cycle. He emphasizes the need for humility when interpreting leading indicators, as they are often mere guesses with inherent errors. (0:14:13) - Navigating Interest Rates (7 Minutes) We discuss the impact of rising interest rates on corporate profitability and the potential economic ramifications. Despite healthy jobs growth and elevated inflation figures, there are signs that the tightening of credit standards and weakening demand for credit will affect profitability. The lag effect of rate hikes and the hidden credit tightening in private enterprise, along with the increase in bankruptcies, suggests that there may be a need to brace for a potential economic downturn. The conversation also touches on the Federal Reserve's potential pivot to a more dovish position, the likelihood of a recession starting in the third quarter of this year, and the expectation of aggressive rate cuts from the fourth quarter. (0:21:16) - Harnessing Strengths to Succeed in Career (2 Minutes) Reflecting on my career in finance, I recall my first job at Salomon's with Barney in Australia and my journey into derivatives strategy and portfolio management. I discuss the importance of knowing one's strengths and leaning into them for success. Additionally, I emphasize the value of becoming a specialist while maintaining a broad network of colleagues, competitors, and providers for a well-rounded perspective as you progress in your career.

In today's episode, we begin a two-part mini-series titled "The Four Masks of Francis Bacon". These two articles, which go together as-one, serve as the concluding sections of an overall six-part series/chapter on Sir Francis Bacon. The theme of this article is to investigate four different "fronts" or "masks" that Francis Bacon utilized in order to covertly pursue his secret mission for world reformation. In this first article of the two-article set, we will investigate two of the masks - William Shakespeare, the famous playwright, and Father CRC, the mythic character from the Rosicrucian Manifestoes. In the follow-up article, we will look at two more masks: the Freemasonic Order and the elite scientific fraternity named "Salomon's House" that Bacon references in his utopian novel, "New Atlantis".Part 2, the follow-up episode to this one, will be possessed shortly after this one. Thank you to everyone who has followed the series so far. In part two of our conversation with Mike, we finish off speaking about the Salomon 1080 story – but it leads nicely into the conversation about the formation Switchback Entertainment ( his production company), and his work with Salomon Japan & the start of Salomon Freeski TV, now known as Salomon TV. “How can we shake up the Traditional Ski Movie Model??” - Short form action & online – which was in 2007; yet again challenging conventions and this time the way we consume certain types of media. http://tv.salomon.com We also talk with about Mike about his work with POW (Protect Our Winters) Canada which is something he is also very passionate about having spent so much time in the mountains and seeing first-hand the changes in snowpack. As the Chair of POW Canada, he shares his role in the organisation as well the vision and philosophy behind it. Last week, Business of Fashion published an article calling trail running “activewear's next big category” citing the emergence of startup brands and the market growth that's attracted incumbents from the road and track space. It's an exciting time in the sport, so we figured we do a show analyzing the brand and product landscape. Corrine and Dylan are joined by Mike Ambrose, former Product Line Manager at Salomon and current USA country manager at NNormal. First we chat about some of the sponsor shakeups that have occurred and summarize the athletes who've aligned with new partners. Then we go big picture and talk about the fascinating state of the market, providing our perspective on where we are headed. This week we speak with Mike Douglas who is widely regarded as the 'Godfather' of Free-skiing, as he has helped influence and shape the sport of skiing over his many years. In this two part episode, part one we look at his early days of skiing, how he got involved with the sport an begin to dive into development story of the Iconic Salomon 1080 ski. In today's inter connected world we perhaps take for granted that how simple it is get in touch with people; so bringing a new concept and product to market was a much greater challenge. After approaching all the big brands and names... it was Salomon who could see the vision of what Mike and the Team had conceived. Mike also is passionate about the outdoors & the environment being the Chair of POW Canada, ( Protect Our Winters), and is an accomplished Director/ Producer and Film Maker for Switchback Entertainment. Learn more about your ad choices. All around Europe, there are small brass bricks inlaid into the ground before the front doors of apartment buildings and houses. These bricks are like a decentralized memorial—they are known as Stolpersteine—which means stumbling stones—and engraved on each one is the name of a citizen who was persecuted or exterminated by the Nazis during World War II. At an apartment building in Berlin that stands at Wielandstrasse 15, you will find the name of Charlotte Salomon on one of these stumbling stones. As it says on the little brass brick, she was born in 1917 here; she fled Germany to France in 1939; she was interned at a French concentration camp in Drancy; she was deported and murdered in Auschwitz in 1943. Charlotte was also a visionary young artist, and she created a hugely ambitious work of art called Life or Theater. Made in just over a year while living in exile in France, Life or Theater consists of more than 1,000 individual gouache paintings, sectioned into three acts. It is an artwork that defies easy categorization. It is something like an autobiography, but also not quite. There are characters that are just like her own family and friends, but their names are slightly changed. There is music that is meant to accompany her vividly painted scenes, which tell the story of her coming of age as a young woman and an artist. The story shows what played out on Wielandstrasse in Berlin as the Nazis rose to power; the persecution of her family; the death of her mother from suicide, and later her grandmother. It tells about her suffering in exile, it discusses a murder. It also captures the birth of a brilliant artist who finds a lifeline in making art. It is hard to neatly summarize everything Life or Theater addresses—but as Charlotte put it herself, the piece is “something crazy special.” Not only is the work picturesque in the way it is painted and formally ground-breaking, Charlotte managed to achieve something deeply intimate and personal but also universal with this work. She gave it to a friend for safekeeping before she was taken to Auschwitz and it survived the war and is now in the possession of the Jewish Historical Museum in Amsterdam. People do not seem to be as aware of Salomon as they should be giving the pioneering, avant-garde nature of this artwork. On the occasion of an upcoming exhibition of Life or Theater at the Lenbachhaus in Munich, Artnet News's Kate Brown was joined by the show's curator Irene Faber, who is also the curator of collections at the Jewish Historical Museum in Amsterdam, and an expert on Charlotte's life and art.

That means he has been taking clients out to the stream! While Dave is doing that everyone else has been flipping the store to make space for Spring apparel from Saxx, Patagonia, Free Fly, and Tasc. WASHINGTON — Washington lawmakers are considering several bills to decide how the state will handle drug laws in the wake of a 2021 supreme court ruling that struck down the state's felony drug possession statute.A stopgap measure passed by the legislature after the supreme court's 'Blake decision' will expire this summer. The Senate Law and Justice committee heard proposals Tuesday for new laws that would criminalize drug possession and incentivize drug users to go to rehab.Sen. Jesse Salomon (D - Shoreline) is sponsoring one of the proposals, SB 5476, which would require people arrested for drug possession to engage in treatment or face at least 45 days in jail.“Our communities are suffering from rampant public drug use. I think we need to send a message to judges that they need to take these charges seriously," Salomon said. “This creates a system where they can be arrested, not with the intent to jail them but to say, look, the state and cities they need an option to get people into treatment.”Support the showSign Up For Exclusive Episodes At: https://reasonabletv.com/LIKE & SUBSCRIBE for new videos every day. https://www.youtube.com/c/NewsForReasonablePeople
