Hello Dear Listener and hello to my Faery Whisperer patrons! Thank you all for supporting the show and I couldn't do this without You!This is a special replay for Faequinox, a month of faeries on the Faery Whispering podcast. It is an updated edit of an episode that I originally released on my Weird Wonderful Wanders podcast in August 2022. For this chat we travel to the snowy Rocky mountains, USA, with my guest Pat. Pat and I originally met on a walk on Dartmoor in 2021 and chatted about our faery experiences. I'm thankful to her for agreeing to share her story of a strange encounter with what she calls ‘a small creature', whilst she was living and working in Breckenridge, Colorado, as a Ski instructor in 2007 to 2008.Pat did a sketch of the being she saw which I have shared with my Faery Whisperer patreon community. Plus there is a PDF download about Native American belief in the little people.Full Show Notes are on my Faery Whisperer Website.I'd love to hear from your faery or other supernatural experiences. Hello Dear Listener, First, my apologies for getting this out one day later. Second, this is a continuation of our first 30 Word song prompt episode and you may wish to go back and listen to that one before you dive into this one (definitely not necessary). This week Emily and Hope. use the SAME 30 words to construct new songs and in this one you'll find out how they did.
Hello Dear Listener, this is a podcast I might send it to a hypothetical podcasting reality show...er...podcast.

Hello Dear Listener, and welcome to the first ever The Fellows Bold Halloween Special! It's Hallowe'en in Whitewyrm, and as part of the ongoing mission to repair relations with the city, our Fellows have been tasked with chaperoning trick or treaters. They also need to check out a strange "fun house" that has popped up on the candy route. The stakes rise pretty quickly when returning heroes Geraint ap Thomas and Afternoon Nap, along with brand new character Orikalkon Melomel (played by brand new guest player Mihai Georgescu) realise they're not the first Fellows Glynn Thomas has sent to check it out... This is a special short chapter, and the conclusion to the adventure will air on Friday 30th October (there'll then be no new episode on Monday 2nd November). Happy Halloween! Hello Dear Listener, This is Darian. In this episode, I shared a story from another podcast called Wolf 359. There is some truly fantastic work that has gone into it. This leads to a discussion about someone's worth even if they have caused irreparable harm in the past. Laureen talks about a movie called A Girl Like Her. It is about a bully who goes through the painful process of realizing she is a bully. I also share my past experience with the topic. We would like to express our grief and sadness about George Floyd's tragic murder at the hands of police officers. We recorded this episode before his death so we don't talk about it. But the ideas we talk about - redemption and worth after a tragedy, along with bullying in ignorance - can certainly help us as we try to learn lessons, heal, and correct the broken parts of our society. Murder is always disturbing. But there is something especially disturbing when it is committed by someone to whom we entrust with great authority. This has shined a spotlight on a very ugly reality that many people are forced to live every day. I truly believe that stories define who we are. We all have toxic stories in our heads and hearts that can cause us to jump to very wrong and very bad conclusions that hurt people. To rid ourselves of these toxins, I've found that one of the best antidotes is good stories. This is your first homework assignment: Get to know someone that looks different than you. Preferably, this is someone that will be a little scary to you. Ask him or her to share a story that is meaningful. Then go to shareastory.fm/MyNewFriendsStory and share that story with us as a comment. Also, share what you learned about this person. What did you think about them that wasn't true? We want to know about your experience! We will share some of your comments on future episodes.
Hello Dear Listener, This is Darian writing right now. When Laureen and I decided to start this podcast, we wanted it to mainly be us talking with each other but we also wanted to have some guests on as well. This episode is the first one where we have a guest storyteller. Her name is Rachel Hedman. She loves stories so much that she founded an organization just for telling stories. It is called Story Crossroads. We both hope you and your loved ones are staying safe! Here are some of the things we talk about in the episode: Rachel Hedman Story Crossroads Spectacular Free Trial at Audible Patreon stories@shareastory.fm Facebook Instagram Twitter
Hello Dear Listener, Darian here. Today, you get the second part of a conversation the two of us started last episode with Laureen telling me all about Jane Eyre. Now it is my turn to talk about that old Kevin Costner movie, Field of Dreams. We also have a new sponsor for the show. That sponsor is Audible. If you listen to a lot of spoken audio, Audible would be worth looking in to. Go to audibletrial.com/shareastory to get a free audiobook and some free Audible original titles. When you do, it will help us out too. Laureen and I have been using Audible for years and they have been very kind to us. We feel very good recommending them :) If you want to support the show or join our exclusive community of storytellers, go to Patreon.com/shareastory to sign up there. Hello Dear Listener. Laureen is writing this. In this episode Darian and I talk about one of my favorite books, Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte. What's your favorite classic literature? Why? We would love to hear your stories! Hello Dear Listener! This week Helen has organised for Rob to have an acupuncture session. Hello Dear Listener, and welcome! This bonus episode is the audio from our recent live show (6/3/2016) in which we discuss Planet Thunder Productions' The Fable of Shannon Cable that we hosted at the Parish in the Plaza District of Oklahoma City. If you made it out, thank you so much! We hope to continue hosting these types of events, so again, thank you! This week Dalton, Caleb, and Alex took the supernatural, mystery musical to the analysis table before hosting a Q&A with producers, Zachary and Jacob - The Burns Bros. The panel kicks off with the three amigos giving their quick reviews of the film to which there is a unanimous response. The analysis then starts up with Dalton kicking things off. Dalton mentions cycles of violence and the portrayal of rape in the media. This is his one major issue with the film - a tonal shift in relation to a rapey moment in the film. Caleb takes over from here as he discusses the role of fables in storytelling. Going all the way back to Aesop, Caleb highlights the role and evolution of fables and their place in culture and the impact theirin on ideology. Alexandra takes us all home as she gives a genre reading. Shannon Cable is a mashup of several genres and Alex takes on the task of identifying how these multiple genres works together to reinforce the themes and narrative at play. After all of this, The Burns Bros and Clint Kubat all make appearances on stage to answer a few questions about the making of the film. Zach and Jacob both served as producers while Jacob is also credited as the cinematographer. Clint Kubat stars as Spooks, one of the singing, ethereal spirit removers. Its a really fun interview that allows the audience to see some inside baseball about the filmmaking process. Again, thanks to The Parish, Planet Thunder Productions, and most of all YOU, dear listener. We do this to have a conversation about film, to build up the identity of film and arts culture and to have fun. So thank you so very much for tuning in.
Hello Dear Listener, This weeks date: 'The Mother in Law' Jean 'The Bean', (Helen's mum - Rob's mother in law) Is a remarkable person and makes connections with people in the most unlikely circumstances. Rob and Jean used to review new music together on Xfm back in the day and their conversations would always spiral in and out of the music and the themes that it brought to the fore. Jean would make connections with the music to the world around her and in one outstanding review she was so moved by Queens of The Stone Age that she started quoting Dylan Thomas. That review got sent to the bands management, the band replied and the rest of the story is told in this podcast. So with Post Pop Depression - The new album from Iggy Pop and Queens of the Stone Age's Josh Homme, recently released, It felt like the perfect time to talk music and life with Jean on the mic again. As always Jean went above and beyond with her research and preparation, even watching Iggy Pop's John Peel lecture on the BBC iplayer beforehand . Inspired by the music Jean Rages against the dying of the light and talks with great parity and humour about the current state of the world and her place in it, then goes 'Full Samuel L Jackson' on her old computer with a sledgehammer in and act of symbolic destruction. A must listen for anyone who feels trapped by the system or even if you're not and you'd just like the world to be a better place. Thanks Jean - You are Rock and Roll. Not our words, that's Josh Homme who said that. Rob's on tour right now, all his dates are here http://www.robrouse.com/gigs/ If you enjoy the podcast and you'd like to you can donate to the podcast here... https://www.paypal.me/datenightpod Rob and Helen X
Hello Dear Listener, the gang is back once again to continue the "Anti-Trash" marathon with a look at the Swedish drama, Force Majeure. Force Majeure is Dalton's host pick and things get a little heated as the gang dig deep into the family drama. We gather around the table as Dustin leads a round table and proposes questions about gender, ambiguity, aesthetics, and truth and how the film handles those subjects. All four hosts present great ideas about societal expectations, gender roles, and color symbolism. To go along with Force Majeure, we talk about our favorite cinematic or television dads. Either fathers who were memorable in some way or we just love the characters and want them to be our dads. So, now is the time. Pull on the ski boots, bundle up, and prepare to hit the slopes with us as we talk, Force Majeure.
