Die Arctic Monkeys sind die größte Rock'n'Roll-Band unserer Zeit – und das, obwohl sie seit über zehn Jahren keinen Rock'n'Roll mehr machen. Also zumindest auf Platte. „Do I Wanna Know... all about the Arctic Monkeys? Wer diese Frage mit „Hell Yeah!“ beantwortet, ist bei dieser Folge genau richtig. In Episode #103ArcticMonkeys kommt mit Philipp Kressmann ein absoluter Indie-Experte und Fan der ersten Stunde vorbei. Alex Turner, Jamie Cook und Nick O'Malley aus der Band erzählen von ihren großen Alben. Jetzt überall, wo es Podcasts gibt.

This week, we start a new series all about appreciating the shredded, gravelly, gritty, raspy pipes and throats of rock n' roll. We are focusing on lead singers who crafted truly special tones with their sandpapered delivery. Join us in celebrating these unique sets of pipes that set them apart from all the others. Anyone can scream, but only a few deliver gravel, grit & glory! What's this InObscuria thing? We're a podcast that exhumes obscure Rock n' Punk n' Metal and puts them in one of 3 categories: the Lost, the Forgotten, or the Should Have Beens. Our appreciation, this week, of rough and textured singing extends to all of the genres that we love. Kevin never realized how much this style of vocalizing had an impact on him until putting this whole thing together. We're learning how T-Pain and Josh Homme got involved in this episode, we're finding out the original plan for the Skulldilocks book, and marveling at a non-proscenium shot in ATHF. Other topics discussed include T-Pain's autotune mastery (and why he doesn't need it), being upset that 10,000 BC isn't about man-on-mammoth love, a brand new and highly affordable Meatwad ringtone, and we're hearing from an old... well, not so old friend.   • AQUA TEEN EPISODE RANKING FORM: https://forms.gle/1qAH58xekfDHaV1r6   References: ♫ Usher - Love in This Club (ft. They say an announcement could come as early as Tuesday.  Justin and Hailey Bieber announced the birth of their son, Jack Blues Bieber, on Friday evening. They had already canceled all their European dates last month to allow Homme to recover from emergency surgery. But they posted on social media Friday afternoon that "Josh has been given no choice but to prioritize his health and to receive essential medical care through the remainder of the year...   Nancy Wilson says Heart plans to release an acoustic album. Josh Homme was born in Joshua Tree and grew up in Palm Desert, California. He founded Queens of the Stone Age in 1996 and is the lead singer, primary songwriter and guitarist in the band. Josh is one of the music industry's most prolific collaborators. Alongside Queens, he formed the supergroup Them Crooked Vultures in 2009 with Dave Grohl (Foo Fighters) and John Paul Jones (Led Zeppelin), and has produced music for Arctic Monkeys, Iggy Pop, Lady Gaga and many more. Queens of the Stone Age released their latest album, In Times New Roman, in 2023. To mark the final episode of the series, Angela makes some extra-special dishes for Josh, while Nick mixes his favourite cocktail, a Corvette Summer. To start, Angela prepares bone marrow and a parsley salad, a recipe from chef Fergus Henderson's book Nose to tail eating: A Kind of British Cooking. For main, it's grilled mackerel, beetroot and red onion salad, and this meal is paired with a delicious La Perrière Pouilly-Fumé Loire by the experts at Waitrose. Josh Homme is about as rock and roll as it gets, and Nick and Ange probe him on his backstage habits and what he likes on his rider. Josh talks about his treasured 15-year friendship with the late Anthony Bourdain, and shares the hilarious comment Elton John made to him before taking to the stage for the final time in his career at Glastonbury 2023. On this episode of Tuna On Toast, Stryker interviews Josh Homme from Queens of the Stone Age. The band has a new album out called ‘In Times New Roman' and Josh tells Stryker all about how it came together. The guys discuss inspiration for some of the songs, including “Paper Machete” and "What the Peephole Say." Josh has had a difficult few years but he explains to Stryker why he's able to see a light at the end of the tunnel, and even reveals that he laughs when life gets especially tough. Queens of the Stone Age are out on tour and Josh details how he puts the band's setlist together every night. He also explains why he still loves playing “No One Knows” and why QOTSA will never be a band that refuses to play their hits. Josh Homme also reveals some of his favorite movies – including a Ryan Gosling flick and some rom-coms. He also explains why he's never heard a Taylor Swift song. This week we're discussing the latest album by Queens of the Stone Age, In Times New Roman… We've talked about Josh Homme on this show before (see our Kyuss and Them Crooked Vultures episodes), and much of how we feel about him hasn't changed in terms of how he makes records. This album isn't a huge jump in any direction, mostly just more of the same. But none of it is bad and if you're a die hard fan, this record will scratch that itch.Closing track: “Sicily”In Times New Roman… on Spotify:https://open.spotify.com/album/2ZTDmH94OLjeNaOvT7Ngwk?si=69924c481bfd4d9bPatreonhttps://www.patreon.com/everyalbumeverMerchhttps://pandermonkey.creator-spring.com/Mike's EP:Pander Monkey on Bandcamp, Spotify, Apple,Instagram:Mike @pandermonkeyAlex @everyalbumalexHistory Tom's stuff:New album on BandcampDebut album on Bandcamp, Spotify, AppleSubstackWebsite

In Indiecast's latest episode, Steven declares that Ian is a surgeon, Dr. Han. (Is this meme old yet? Will anyone know what we're talking about next week?) Actually, their first order of business is talking about In Times New Roman, the just-announced new album by Queens Of The Stone Age due June 16, their first in six years (6:16). They try to sort out their current feelings about this band, and the murky personal life of Josh Homme. (They also struggle, of course, to correctly pronounce "Homme.")Next they talk about the end of two institutions that they sort of thought ended in the aughts, but actually shut down this week: The pop-punk band Sum 41, and the legacy media outlet MTV News. Ian actually goes to bat for Sum 41 by giving them a "yay," while Steven is an indifferent "nay"(12:09). But MTV News was a formative outlet for both '90s kids, especially the gravitas-rich lead anchor Kurt Loder (22:11).From there they piggyback on Steven's recent column about the 10th anniversary of Daft Punk's Random Access Memories and talk about whether the album is a classic, overrated or both. (Steven and Ian both landed on "both") (30:18). What's not overrated is American Football buying the American Football house, which is another thing that happened this week, though the story made Ian sad about that a beloved combination A&W/Long John Silver's that is gone from his college town (46:35).In Recommendation Corner (54:10), Ian hypes the hyperpop/pop-punk hybrid Hot Mulligan, while Steven talks up a reissue from the Cleveland guitarist/composer Mark McGuire.New episodes of Indiecast drop every Friday.
