Irene is the co-author of “Blackfeather Mystery School: The Magpie Training” and a blogger and columnist. She has performed, taught workshops, and led rituals at many festivals and conferences over the years. Irene is the main organizer of the Frederick Covenant of Unitarian Universalist Pagans (Frederick CUUPS), offering events, rituals, classes and workshops to a large, vibrant community. She is also a member of Kindred Crow, a Pagan folk band. Ég vil byrja þáttinn í þetta skiptið á því að þakka fyrir alla póstana og ábendingar sem ég hef verið að fá upp á síðkastið. Því fleiri því betra segi ég nú bara. Eftir svona langan tíma af því að gera þættina þá getur manni oft liðið eins og það sé búið að tala um allt en þá er einmitt svo gaman og hollt af fá alls kyns hugmyndir utan úr bæ um efni sem gæti verið gaman að tala um. Enda er svo ótrúlega mikið forvitnilegt til í þessum heimi. Og talandi um forvitnilegt, þá alveg óvænt höldum við áfram með stafinn H, en færum okkur frá heimspeki til hrafna. Ég var nefnilega í mat hérna upp í Efstaleiti fyrir einhverju síðan og meðan ég borðaði þá varð ég var við 4 hrafna sem flugu á milli húsþaka og ljósastaura. Mér fannst þeir svo áhugaverðir og fyndnir að ég ílengdist örugglega í einhverjar 10-20 mínútur bara að horfa á þá athafna sig, velti fyrir mér hvað í ósköpunum þeir gætu verið að tala um, hvort þetta væru 2 pör og svo framvegis. Þá langaði mig auðvitað til að vita meira, svo ég grennslaðist fyrir og fann loks Kristinn Hauk Skarphéðinsson sem hefur verið að fylgjast með þessum fuglum mun lengur en ég, og líklegast bara flest. Ég sannfærði hann svo um að koma til mín og segja okkur meira frá þessum merkilegu fuglum, þar sem sagan, atferli og framtíð blandast saman í einn graut eins og vill oft vera þegar maður talar um dýr. Fækka þarf einbreiðum brúm á Norðurlandi eystra og stytta leiðina til Reykjavíkur. Ágúst Ólafsson fjallaði um þessa nýju könnun og ræddi við Arnar Þór Jóhannesson, forstöðumann Rannsóknarmiðstöðvar Háskólans á Akureyri. Join us on December 2nd at 7pm central time as we speak with Diana Paxson.  Diana has worked in a variety of traditions, including kabbalistic ceremonial magic, women's spirituality, Wicca, Umbanda, and Asatru.  She has also served as First Officer of the Covenant of the Goddess, in which she am an Elder.  Currently Diana is a member of Darkmoon Circle and leader of Hrafnar, a co-ed Norse kindred, and the Seidh Training circle. Diana is probably best known to the wider New Age and Pagan communities as the author of 30 novels and numerous short stories with pagan themes, including The White Raven, the Arthurian tetralogy Hallowed Isle, and the Avalon novels that followed Mists of Avalon. She has written a regular column on goddesses for Sagewoman magazine ever since its founding. Her non-fiction books include: Taking up the Runes, Trance-portation, The Way of the Oracle, Possession Depossession and Divine Relationships, and Odin. One of her main magical interests at present is political magic, working with the Founding Fathers and other leaders as Ancestors and the goddesses of this land. In this episode, Ember Cooke describes what Heathenry is and talks about the different types of Heathen paths. Who are the Heathen (also known collectively as Norse) Gods? What do Heathens do? What does race have to do with Heathen practice, and why is that all people know of the Heathen traditions?   Ember Cooke has been a member of Hrafnar and Seidhjallr for more thana decade, where she trained with Diana Paxson and Lorrie Wood to be aSeidhkona, Vitka, and Gythia. She founded the Vanic Conspiracy in fallof 2004 and made ordination vows to the Vanir and her congregation inthe summer of 2013. She has contributed to several publications onHeathen and Northern Pagan subjects, including books published byDiana Paxson, Raven Kaldera, and Noroniel Lokason, and has presentedrituals and workshops at festivals like PantheaCon for many years.Her personal practice is more diverse, as the Vanir have lead her intocross-training, interfaith work, and ritual service for the widerPagan community. This has including nine years of medium and servitortraining in American Umbanda, clergy training with the Fellowship ofthe Spiral Path, and jail ministry for the Santa Clara and Santa Cruzcounties.She holds a BA with honors in Religious Studies from Santa ClaraUniversity.
