Gwyn and Ode discuss how their practices have evolved over time.
Laylla and Chelle sit down with Heathen practitioner, writer, teacher, and full-blown folklore nerd Ash Glasse for a conversation about what it means to practice Heathenry in the modern world.Ash is a spiritual leader for the inclusive Elk Ridge Kindred, serves on the Board of Directors for The Troth, and is a member of the Pagan folk band Kindred Crow. Together, the witches talk about the difference between reconstructing an ancient religion and creating a living spiritual tradition, working with Gods, ancestors, land spirits, folklore, magic, and the values that shape Heathen community today. They also explore some of the harder questions modern Heathens face, including inclusivity, ancestry, cultural identity, and the ways Norse symbols and traditions have been misused by extremist groups.Whether you already walk a Heathen path or you just want to know what exists beyond Thor, Odin, and a suspicious number of ravens, this episode offers a thoughtful, grounded look at a tradition that is still very much alive and evolving.Got a question? Tony Visconti joins Mark Millar on the XS Noize Podcast to discuss David Bowie, Marc Bolan, T. Rex, Thin Lizzy, Phil Lynott, Blackstar, Scary Monsters, Holy Holy and the art of producing timeless records. Best known as one of the most celebrated producers in music history, Tony played on Bowie's early records and went on to produce some of the most important albums of David Bowie's career. He also worked closely with Marc Bolan and T. Rex, worked on classic Thin Lizzy records, and remains a vital part of Bowie's musical legacy through Holy Holy. In this conversation, Tony discusses Holy Holy's Final Tour – A Celebration of Bowie. He reflects on keeping Bowie's music alive on stage, why he still practises bass every day at 82, and what performing gives him that producing doesn't. Tony also opens up about the craft of production — what a great producer gives an artist, how he listens to a song in its earliest form, and why vocal performance is so important. He shares a brilliant story about Bowie recording "Where Are We Now?" in one take, and explains how they kept the surprise return of Bowie's music completely secret. The conversation also explores Tony's long creative relationship with Bowie, from The Man Who Sold The World and Heathen to Blackstar and Scary Monsters. Tony discusses Bowie's voice, his constant reinvention, the secrecy around his later recordings, the creative vitality of Blackstar, and why Scary Monsters became his favourite Bowie album to work on. Elsewhere, Tony looks back on Marc Bolan and T. Rex, explaining the difference between Bolan's fast, instinctive studio approach and Bowie's more meticulous creative process. He also shares memories of working with Thin Lizzy and Phil Lynott, describing Phil's presence in the studio, his bass playing, and the brotherhood within the band. Tony also talks about the Bowie archive, Glenn Gregory singing Bowie without impersonating him, what younger artists should understand beyond Bowie's image and fashion, and what it means for Holy Holy to keep Bowie's music alive with love. The Torah portion of Balak introduces us to the shadowy character of Bilaam, a heathen prophet who tried to manipulate G-d's will to suit his own agenda. He was an itinerant occultist who, way back then, sought to prove that Israel does not have the right to exist. In this week's Jerusalem Lights podcast, Jim Long and Rabbi Chaim Richman examine the mysterious prophet through a contemporary lens, and find that the modern scourge of anti-Semitism has much in common with Bilaam's twisted, baseless and ancient hatred. _________Rabbi Chaim Richman Jerusalem Lights | Torah for Everyone Join our new WhatsApp channel! https://whatsapp.com/channel/0029VbDN...Rabbi Chaim Richman's 'Jerusalem Lights', a non-profit educational organization, shares the wisdom of Torah teachings with all sincere spiritual seekers, emphasizing the ennoblement of the human spirit, the brotherhood of mankind, and the nurturing and development of each individual's personal faith and relationship with the Creator. This week on Back on the Broomstick, we welcome Irene Glasse; a witch, author, musician, former Marine, yoga teacher, tarot reader, Pagan clergy person, and the kind of guest who seriously makes you wonder if (and how!) she has found a few extra hours hidden between the worlds.Irene joins us to talk about her book Foundations of Witchcraft, mystical practice, spiritwork, inclusive Heathenry, Freyja, community ritual, and what it really means to serve as Pagan clergy in the modern world. We also talk about Pagan festivals, the beautiful chaos of organizing magical people, and the very important discovery that Laylla and Chelle are basically two degrees of Kevin Bacon away from Irene. This conversation also touches on the recent Department of Defense decision to reduce the military's recognized religious affiliation codes from over 200 to 31, removing individual listings for many minority faiths and belief systems, including modern Pagan traditions, Wicca, Druidry, Unitarian Universalism, and atheism. As a former Marine and working Pagan religious professional, Irene brings a grounded and deeply personal perspective to why recognition, representation, and spiritual care matter.Light a candle, grab your favorite festival mug, and join us for a conversation about witchcraft, service, community, and the sacred work of keeping the doors open for seekers of many paths.Kindred CrowYoutubeGlasse Witch CottageFoundations of Witchcraft: A Blackfeather Mystery School Training ManualGot a question? This week we've got So Much Things To Say as we review and rank Exodus, the gripping reggae album by Jamaica's own Bob Marley! After pushing rocksteady boundaries with his childhood friends Bunny Wailer and Peter Tosh, Bob's career made a strong pivot to pop and rock crossover music, riding the reggae wave to superstardom! A failed assassination attempt sent Marley overseas, where he crafted his ninth studio album, charged with Rastafarian theology and themes of love and freedom. We'll learn the effect it had on his legend, and how the Marley mythos has evolved over time.James & Connor recount our previous Bob Marley experiences (both torturous and fishy). The Mixtaper has an aviary of little birds this week with facts about the House Of Dread FC, palm reading, and an unusual prison break during Fact Or Spin. Then we'll get to Jamming about the album, from the restrained intensity of The Heathen to the chill optimism of Three Little Birds! So kick back, relax, and don't worry about a thing... There's a Natural Mystic blowing through this episode! Are you a bigger fan of the intense half or the chill half of Exodus' sound? What's your favorite bird? On episode 206 of March Forth with Mike Bauman, Mike chats with Gouged! Formed in 2020, Gouged is a deathcore band based in the Pacific Northwest. Since their formation, Gouged has been honing their craft and making a name for themselves in the metal landscape. In 2022, Gouged gave the deathcore community a glimpse of what was on the horizon with their single "Villain." Teaming up with Slam Worldwide for the music video, "Villain" has garnered nearly 8,000 YouTube views and 18,000 streams on Spotify. The band would go to release multiple singles leading up to their 2024 EP entitled DOOM//GLOOM, which spawned heavy hitters like "Thy Flesh Consumed" and "Heavy Weight." After dropping the single "Heathen" in September 2024, Gouged has continued to build a following in the Pacific Northwest and beyond with live shows. In 2025, they hit the road with A Moments Notice for "The West Coast Damnation Tour," and announced this February that they have signed to Overshadow. On Friday, March 13th, Gouged dropped their latest single entitled "This Hell, Your Home," part of a forthcoming EP inspired by the emperor Mithridates, known as "The Poison King." In this episode, Devin McCulloch and Jacob Calica of Gouged talk with Mike about Gouged's formation, the development of their sound, heavy music being a catharsis for grief and pain, the inspiration behind "This Hell, Your Home," signing with Joe Tichy and Overshadow, and more. Episode 83 includes something we've never done before on Positive Disintegration. It's a conversation among seven neurodivergent podcasters—recorded as part of a peer-reviewed paper that has just been published in Neurodiversity journal. The paper, “Voices at the Margins: Podcasting as Neuroqueer Collaborative Autoethnography and Epistemic Healing,” positions podcasting as a research methodology within critical neurodiversity studies, and this conversation is the data. The seven of us—Caitlin Hughes, Chris Wells, Emma Nicholson, Bee Mayhew, Sheldon Gay, Marni Kammersell, and Teena Mogler—sat down together to explore what podcasting makes possible that other forms of research and advocacy cannot. What emerged was a conversation about voice, belonging, lived experience as expertise, and the kind of knowledge that forms between people when they're allowed to think out loud together.Rather than following a rigid script, we were guided by five open-ended questions that Caitlin designed to hold space for relational dialogue and reflexive sense-making. We talked about the inaccessibility of traditional knowledge spaces, what it means to reclaim lived experience as valid and generative knowledge, and the truths that live in contradiction, tangents, and half-finished thoughts. We also explored how this kind of podcasting ripples outward into neurodivergent community and belonging. The paper identifies nine resonances that emerged from the recording, including voice as epistemic repair, messiness as method, lived experience as expertise, multiplicity and difference as community, and humor and play as co-regulation. If you've ever felt like this podcast gave you permission to be unfinished, or helped you see yourself outside of yourself—that's the ripple we're talking about.Read the full paper (open access): https://doi.org/10.1177/27546330261437265Published in: Neurodiversity, Volume 4, Special Issue: Towards a Critical Turn in Neurodiversity Studies: Bridging the Arts, Humanities and the Social Sciences*A PDF of the transcript is available here The podcasters in this episode:* Caitlin Hughes (she/they) is a queer, nonbinary, multi-exceptional Australian social worker, researcher, educator, and advocate.
