I started noticing at our community that there where kids, and my first notice of them would be that they would trump through the Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam class while we were conducting it, without a care in the world, or noticing that they were walking through a group of devotees who were hearing Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam. Then I started noticing that they were exceptional. Little by little, I noticed that, and I got fascinated with how they were born into families where the chanting of Hare Kṛṣṇa, where the devotees were chanting Hare Kṛṣṇa. And I saw they must be some special souls. Then I started realizing more and more that they were, and then I started realizing more and more that they were one of the main pillars of the community. So I gave more and more attention to the young people, partly because they were non-judgmental, and it was really easy to be around them and have programs. And then I started doing more research about how to give more facility to young people. I wanted to know what they thought when they were growing up, and what it felt like to be an adolescent in the Hare Kṛṣṇa movement. In fact, I called some devotees who were already grown up, but they had been through that, like Jhanavi Harrison, that I talked to for some time, and she told me how she had met Jamunā and had been deeply inspired by her. And when she was leaving her home and driving away, she thought, "Yeah, I'm going to be a devotee." Then I got together a group of young people who were my godbrothers and godsisters who had been initiated at a young age—some of them at 12, Prabhupāda gave initiation to—and I wanted to know from them what inspired them and what was a hindrance in their progress. After some conferences, they came up with these two mantras. One of them was in the middle of this pentagon that you see there. What helped them the most was seeing peers doing great, and the thing that held them back the most, they said, was not having upward mobility they felt at the time there. There wasn't any opening for them for taking on service or management or anything like that. Then I started noticing that young people gravitated, oftentimes and in many places around ISKCON, to kīrtana. And I started some interaction with the kids, where we had not just kīrtana, but also some of the other things you see here: ślokas, śravaṇam (hearing from Prabhupāda's books), then of course kīrtanam, and then visits to the Deities' rooms, and also learning book distribution. I saw those as five points that could be really helpful, and we started several programs like Youth Jam, Śāstra Jam, Japa Jolt, and Youth Yatra. Why am I bringing this up regarding community? Because people care about their kids right? now, really say, "Yes, yeah." I mean, and when the kids are becoming Kṛṣṇa conscious and well-rounded, and they actually cross that threshold where they say, "No, I want to be a devotee. It's not that I was a devotee. Now I'm growing up, and I'm going to move on and do something else." They feel part of the mission, and they start taking responsibilities like initiation and also wanting to do service. And they're really smart, too, and they bring in everybody else. They bring in the rest of the community. It enlivens them. So I made these two pentagons. One of them is a reminder that it all comes back to śravaṇam-kīrtanam. There's no point to coming together for niceties if there's no transcendental sound vibration, and the community is all based on hearing and chanting and then distributing to as many people as possible. If we have those as a center point, and if we feel that we're flagging in one way or another, we can always remember that the antidote to that is to hear and chant more and increase the transcendental sound vibration. That's helpful to know. And it's the verdict of the śāstra that that's our main process.

The service that we do is always based on our intention. If we're cooking something or we're dressing The Deities, or let's say, leading a kīrtana, we're chanting Hare Kṛṣṇa. But if that mantra coming from our heart is actually, "Look at me. Look at me. Look at me. Everybody, look at me," it's not the same as if you're expressing, you know, "Kṛṣṇa, You're everything." So the real service comes from that intention of the way you're doing it. And chanting is the time, as I said in the very beginning, when you can fully express that, and even a molecule of that expression of sincerity is what connects us so deeply with Kṛṣṇa, because He's already there waiting for us to look, look in His direction. So you can think of it like that. He doesn't need anything from us, but when we give our loving attention with the mood of service, then that's service itself. ----------------------------------------------------------- To connect with His Grace Vaiśeṣika Dāsa, please visit https://www.fanthespark.com/next-steps/ask-vaisesika-dasa/ ------------------------------------------------------------ Add to your wisdom literature collection: https://iskconsv.com/book-store/ https://www.bbtacademic.com/books/ https://thefourquestionsbook.com/ ------------------------------------------------------------ Join us live on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/FanTheSpark/ Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/sound-bhakti/id1132423868 For the latest videos, subscribe https://www.youtube.com/@FanTheSpark For the latest in SoundCloud: https://soundcloud.com/fan-the-spark ------------------------------------------------------------ #japajolt #mantrameditation #makejapagreatagain #vaisesikaprabhu #vaisesikadasa #vaisesikaprabhulectures #spirituality #bhaktiyoga #krishna #spiritualpurposeoflife #krishnaspirituality #spiritualusachannel #whybhaktiisimportant #whyspiritualityisimportant #vaisesika #spiritualconnection #thepowerofspiritualstudy #selfrealization #spirituallectures #spiritualstudy #spiritualexperience #spiritualpurposeoflife #spiritualquestions #spiritualquestionsanswered #trendingspiritualtopics #fanthespark #spiritualpowerofmeditation #spiritualgrowthlessons #secretsofspirituality #spiritualteachersonyoutube #spiritualhabits #spiritualclarity #bhagavadgita #srimadbhagavatam #spiritualbeings #kttvg #keepthetranscendentalvibrationgoing #spiritualpurpose

Learn all about these sacred godlike creatures, including what they look like, what they symbolize, and how you can use their spirit and ancient wisdom to tap into your own Divine Feline Energy.GUIDEBOOKThroughout time, felines have played a sacred role in human life. Archeologists have found cat remains buried with humans as far back as the tenth millennium BCE in Cyprus, and the Greek goddess Hecate is said to have regularly assumed the form of a cat. Hieroglyphics tell us that ancient Egyptians worshipped cat gods, and their queen Cleopatra had a kitty companion in her palace whom she called Tivali. A Chinese cat goddess called Li Shou is said to have protected farmers from mice, and Ai Apaec was a pre-Inca god with fangs and whiskers said to have descended from an even more ancient cat god. This book is more than a guide to ancient cat gods. It's an exploration of the way humans have observed, interacted with, learned from, and revered another species who share the Earth with us. Ancient folklore is rife with examples of animal cunning and compassion, and many humans invoked other species as spiritual guides or flat out worshipped them as gods. Arguably, cats are the most intriguing of animals because of how we can relate to them. Much like us, they are free spirits and adaptable survivors. We admire them for their dignity, independence, and ferocity. In this gorgeously illustrated guidebook, you'll meet 51 feline deities and demons from four geographical families around the world—Africa, Americas, Asia, and Europe. When we come into a temple room, we ring the bell, we offer obeisances. We don't walk in with shoes and so forth. And we do that because we're presenting ourselves. Darśan, as Śrīla Bhaktisiddhānta Sarasvatī Ṭhākura emphasized, is not us going to see the Lord. In fact, oftentimes he would stand near the back of the temple at the Garuḍa Stambha, saying that Kṛṣṇa will look out and recognize His devotee, Garuḍa. If he's standing underneath him, then Kṛṣṇa may also see him. He also oftentimes didn't wear his glasses when he would come to see the Deities because he would say, 'I'm not coming to use these eyes to enjoy looking at the Lord, but I'm here so the Lord can see me.' And coming into the Dhāma in a similar mood. We're here for service. It's not for room service or receiving room service, but it's for being in the mood of how I can increase my affinity for devotional service. That is a kind of service where I can purify my heart of any extra things that have come along for the ride. Somehow or other, things just tend to jump on and go for a free ride until we come to the Dhāma and realize, 'Hey, get off of me. I didn't ask you to come along.' And Kṛṣṇa recognizes these attempts that we make to purify ourselves so that we can offer our hearts to Him. I remember first coming to the temple in San Francisco and not being able to look at the Deities. I looked at the flowers instead; that was as much specificity as I could handle. And if you tell somebody God plays a flute, it's like, how do you know and how would a god play a flute? It is almost abhorrent to people to know that there's a God who has specific personal qualities. One other observation I've had about gratitude is that if you have gratitude, it always traces back to a person, because a person means one who's conscious and who can have intention. You can't have gratitude unless somebody was intentionally kind to you. If you find $100 on the ground and you can't trace where it came from, or even if you can, you can't have gratitude for it unless you say something like, "I thank the universe," which people do sometimes, especially in California. Really thank the universe for this? In which case you're trying to personify that the universe has an intention. Why not take it a step further and say, okay, there's a person behind that, there's at least a goddess behind it somewhere. If we have any gratitude, that means there's a person behind it somewhere. Just going back to this sense of 'embrace the personality of God,' that's bhakti and that becomes relishable. It turns the whole bent of the material world—which is deny, deny God's personality—on the tip. And that's what we do. That's what the śāstras do. Lollipops are bona fide. In 1972, Bhakta Gopāl saw the Salvation Army giving out candy canes for donations, so he went and got candy canes. Then some devotees complained to Prabhupāda and said he's given out bhoga. And then Prabhupāda inquired a little further about what it was, and he said, "What is the harm? It's in the Vedabase." He said, "What is the harm?" He said, "In India, all the time, pūjāris buy simple sugar candies. They offer them to the Deities, and they give them out. They distribute as mahāprasādam." He gave us permission to offer lollipops to the Deities. So lollipops are something you can use because everyone in the universe likes lollipops, even monkeys. In Vṛndāvana, if you throw a lollipop to a monkey, they'll catch it and put it in their mouth before, I mean, you have to have a slow-motion camera to watch how fast they take the wrapper off and put it in their mouth. I once gave one to the Secretary of State of the United States of America, and he had it in his mouth before I could even tell him who I was. It was at the airport. I had a suit and tie on, but he just took the lollipop and put it in his mouth as I was showing him the Bhagavad-gītā. He was going, "crunch, crunch, crunch." So lollipops are important. They're prasādam. We want to touch their heart with some prasādam, and then you thank them for taking their valuable time, telling them it was an honor to meet them. And then also be ready with some kind of QR code or a form they can write on to get their name and number. If they're a nice person, if they're a seeker, you can connect them up to your next best place where the habitat is ripe for them. IASD  provides a Dreamwork Ethics Statementas a guideline for anyone who wants to discuss dreams responsibly.Developed in 1997, it aims to honor the dream as well as the dreamer, and is used as the gold standard in dreamwork worldwide. Read the full ethics statement on asdreams.org/ethics-and-confidentialityHere are 7 key takeaways:1. Respect the Dreamer's IntegrityEthical dreamwork helps the dreamer work with his/her own dream images, feelings, and associations, but doesn't tell anyone what their dream means. The dreamer is the decision maker when it comes to the meaning of their own dream. Listen, ask, reflect, and invite the dreamer todraw their own conclusions.2. Create a Safe SpaceThe dreamer should be forewarned that unexpected issues or emotions may arise in the course of the dreamwork. It might start as ‘just a dream', but may end in an unexpected conversation. Even if it's a short chat, make sure youcan't be overheard or interrupted easily.3. Keep the PrivacyInformation and mutual agreement about the degree of privacy and confidentiality are essential ingredients in creating a safe atmosphere for dream sharing.Assure the dreamer that you will keep what's discussed to yourself, unless they tell you otherwise.4. Let the Dreamer LeadA dreamer's decision to share or discontinue sharing a dream should always be respected and honored.Be mindful of body language, hesitations, or arepeated ‘I don't know', as signs that thisconversation might be at it's end.5. Consider Multiple OptionsEvery dream may have multiple meanings. There are social, cultural, and transpersonal aspects to dream experience. Different techniques may be reasonably employed to touch these multiple layers of significance.Instead of looking for one “true” meaning, help a dreamer explore different associations and ideas.6. The Limits Of DreamworkBe mindful of the limits of the conversation.Dreamwork outside a clinical setting is not a substitute for psychotherapy, or other professional treatment, and should not be used as such. If the conversation requires it, remind the dreamer with empathy that this isn't therapy, and maybe get a nice cup of tea together.7. Tradition MattersIASD recognizes and respects that there are many valid and time-honored dreamwork traditions. We invite and welcome the participation of dreamers from all cultures. There are social, cultural, and transpersonal aspects to a dream experience. Invite the dreamer to educate you on their views on dreams.Send us a textSupport the showFollow The Dream World PodcastVisit Our WebsiteInstagram @TheDreamWorldPodcastTik Tok @aminasdreamworldSpotifyFacebookLucid Dreaming Online Course

Prabhupāda said, "You have to engage in Kṛṣṇa Consciousness seriously." And he said, "You also have to be careful and not assume that I'm over the disease completely, to be attracted to the sense objects. One should not tempt fate or think one's entitled or think I'm liberated. We should always think, 'I'm not liberated, therefore I can't cut corners.' If you stay on the safe side and remain humble and think that at any moment I can be overcome by the powerful waves of sense gratification and you cultivate the higher taste for Kṛṣṇa Consciousness, it becomes possible to stay in that position even up to the time when we leave this material body and be attracted to the form of Kṛṣṇa, to the name of Kṛṣṇa, and not to anything in the material world. That's important because we are given a certain amount of time in this life. We have an āyu (time span), and when it runs out and there's some excuse why the body gets vanquished, when it's over, then one has to be ready for the test, the final test - 'ante nārāyaṇa-smṛtiḥ', which is the beginning admonition of Śukadeva Gosvāmī for everyone that "You should be ready at the time of death to remember God." So you have to practice it throughout your lifetime in all circumstances—to remain conscious of Kṛṣṇa while navigating the material world. One should try to have that superior taste for Kṛṣṇa, be attracted to the Deities, and not to the forms of the material world, which are so prevalent. With its interdisciplinary approach, this book addresses how fan-bhakti is performed in the global landscape, in the process augmenting new religious models and identities based on the idea of the “cinematic sacred.” For more information, go here. Welcome to Episode 254 of Lucretius Today. This is a podcast dedicated to the poet Lucretius, who wrote "On The Nature of Things," the most complete presentation of Epicurean philosophy left to us from the ancient world. Each week we walk you through the Epicurean texts, and we discuss how Epicurean philosophy can apply to you today. If you find the Epicurean worldview attractive, we invite you to join us in the study of Epicurus at EpicureanFriends.com, where we discuss this and all of our podcast episodes. Today we are continuing to review Cicero's "On the Nature of The Gods," which began with the Epicurean spokesman Velleius defending the Epicurean point of view. This week will continue into Section 42 as Cotta, the Academic Skeptic, continues to attack the Epicurean view of the nature of divinity. Today's Text XLII. And why should we worship them from an admiration only of that nature in which we can behold nothing excellent? and as for that freedom from superstition, which you are in the habit of boasting of so much, it is easy to be free from that feeling when you have renounced all belief in the power of the Gods; unless, indeed, you imagine that Diagoras or Theodorus, who absolutely denied the being of the Gods, could possibly be superstitious. I do not suppose that even Protagoras could, who doubted whether there were Gods or not. The opinions of these philosophers are not only destructive of superstition, which arises from a vain fear of the Gods, but of religion also, which consists in a pious adoration of them. What think you of those who have asserted that the whole doctrine concerning the immortal Gods was the invention of politicians, whose view was to govern that part of the community by religion which reason could not influence? Are not their opinions subversive of all religion? Or what religion did Prodicus the Chian leave to men, who held that everything beneficial to human life should be numbered among the Gods? Were not they likewise void of religion who taught that the Deities, at present the object of our prayers and adoration, were valiant, illustrious, and mighty men who arose to divinity after death? Euhemerus, whom our Ennius translated, and followed more than other authors, has particularly advanced this doctrine, and treated of the deaths and burials of the Gods; can he, then, be said to have confirmed religion, or, rather, to have totally subverted it? I shall say nothing of that sacred and august Eleusina, into whose mysteries the most distant nations were initiated, nor of the solemnities in Samothrace, or in Lemnos, secretly resorted to by night, and surrounded by thick and shady groves; which, if they were properly explained, and reduced to reasonable principles, would rather explain the nature of things than discover the knowledge of the Gods. XLIII. Even that great man Democritus, from whose fountains Epicurus watered his little garden, seems to me to be very inferior to his usual acuteness when speaking about the nature of the Gods. For at one time he thinks that there are images endowed with divinity, inherent in the universality of things; at another, that the principles and minds contained in the universe are Gods; then he attributes divinity to animated images, employing themselves in doing us good or harm; and, lastly, he speaks of certain images of such vast extent that they encompass the whole outside of the universe; all which opinions are more worthy of the country of Democritus than of Democritus himself; for who can frame in his mind any ideas of such images? who can admire them? who can think they merit a religious adoration?
