Part 9 It has been well said that the only distinctive doctrine of the Seventh-day Adventist Church is the doctrine of the Investigative Judgment. This doctrine lies at the heart of Adventism and is woven into the fabric of how the Adventist Church views atonement. In short, the doctrine of the Investigative Judgment teaches that in 1844, Jesus Christ began a work of judgment, examining the records of all professing believers to determine their worthiness to obtain heaven. When one asks what is the standard by which they shall be judged, the answer is returned, the law of God! According to Ellen G. White: “All who have truly repented of sin, and by faith claimed the blood of Christ as their atoning sacrifice, have had pardon entered against their names in the books of heaven; as they have become partakers of the righteousness of Christ, and their characters are found to be in harmony with the law of God, their sins will be blotted out, and they themselves will be accounted worthy of eternal life.” The doctrine of the Investigative Judgment is a damnable doctrine as it not only adds law to grace and works to faith, but it denies the finished work of the cross since it maintains that from 1844, Christ entered the second and last phase of His atoning ministry. It is a work of investigative judgment, which is part of the ultimate disposition of all sin (SDA Fundamental Belief 24). How can there be a final phase of atonement when Calvary WAS the final atonement? We shall explore this at length in this teaching, along with the infamous Sanctuary doctrine. One core end times belief of Seventh Day Adventism is that of something called the "Investigative Judgment." This is the teaching that God has been investigating the Church since 1844 and will issue a final verdict on people's status at His return. The belief also asserts certain specific things about Satan, that he will be left to wander a desolate Earth for 1,000 literal years and that, ultimately, all the sins of the world are transferred to him as the scapegoat. These and other beliefs were largely put together by Adventism's prophet, Ellen G White. But are these teachings in alignment with the gospel? And was Ellen G White truly a prophet? Today we will examine this teaching and see 6 powerful reasons why Seventh Day Adventists are wrong about the Investigative Judgment and wrong about Ellen White. As you may know, the SDA pioneers unitedly believed and taught that the investigative judgment began at the fulfillment of the 2300 days of Dan. 8:14 in on Oct. 22, 1844. But many in the church today question this doctrine. In this study, we'll be looking at some of the scriptural evidence for the investigative judgment, and the timeframe within which scripture narrows it down to, saying nothing of the 2300 days of Daniel 8 nor the word to restore and rebuild Jerusalem from Daniel 9. How many Seventh-day Adventists today really understand the investigative judgment? Some may think, we have other doctrines more important than this doctrine of the investigative judgment, right? Do we really need to understand this doctrine in order to make it to heaven? I mean, if Jesus' death for the sins of the world made it so all we need to do to make it to heaven is believe this, and then our sins, past, present and future are covered by the vicarious righteousness of Christ, then what is all the fuss about the investigative judgment? If it were the case that the standard for entering God's kingdom was vicarious righteousness, then the investigative judgment and any writings that encourage practical righteousness would be basically irrelevant. And this is a big problem for many SDAs who are under the impression that the bible prophets teach that the gospel is all about the vicarious righteousness of Christ, particularly because so many of Ellen White's writings do speak of the need for actual personal righteousness in order to enter the kingdom of God. In this study we look at why many are leaving the SDA faith, and fewer are joining. And just as importantly, we look at the danger sincere SDAs are in through believing in a gospel involving a vicarious righteousness of Christ, and we look at its incongruence with both Scripture and Ellen White's teachings about practical righteousness, and the investigative judgment. Is the Investigative Judgment necessary? If so, Why? And, can we have the assurance of salvation with such a doctrine?
After the apostle John's bittersweet experience of eating the little scroll of Revelation 10:11, he is told to prophesy again. What was he to prophesy? And, What does this have to do with the Investigative Judgment?

Is Seventh-day Adventism compatible with “the faith once for all delivered to the saints” (Jude 3), or is it a subtle counterfeit belief system promoting a false prophet and a false gospel? Rodgers Atwebembeire explains.

Among the most solemn words spoken by Jesus Christ, is the promise: “Behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be.” Revelation 22:12.The notion that man will judged according to his works, whether they be good or bad, is a common theme throughout Scripture. Although this in no way teaches that we are saved by works, it does prove that faith without works is dead, and that true religion will always be reflected in words and actions. King Solomon, the great apostle Paul, fiery Peter, and the beloved John, each wrote about man's probationary time, and the judgment which follows. Yet how does God judge humanity? What is the standard to which each of us are weighed? And what can be learned from the Old Testament sanctuary service about Christ's ministration in heaven, and the day in which He returns to Earth? www.gatheredfragments.comhello@gatheredfragments.com

Have you ever wondered what the practical implications and applications of the Investigative Judgment are in your own life? Has it always seemed the Judgment was more focused on the perfection of the church rather than the restoration of justice in an unjust world ruled by human empire? If so then you will really enjoy my latest interview with Pastor Marcos Torres of www.thestorychurchproject.com. In this episode I have the privilege to discuss justice in the light of the investigative judgment with attorney, colleague and friend, Steve Allred. I think you will be both encouraged and challenged in your faith as we tackle the real life implications for Christians who claim to believe in a soon coming savior yet in many cases live a life of indifference to the oppressed around them. If the Investigative Judgment is a true doctrine then what should that look like externally in the life of a Christian to a world that desperately needs a revelation of God's love? In this episode Travis takes a deep dive into the Investigative Judgment. He discusses both the need of a judgment before Christ's second coming and the standard which God will use in deciding each person's case. He also discovers hope in the judgment for believers who have come to Jesus for forgiveness of sin and have put their trust in him. It has well been said that the only really distinctive and unique doctrine of the SDA church is the doctrine of the heavenly sanctuary out of which proceeds the doctrine of the Investigative Judgment. This teaching is the very pillar and foundation of the SDA church. What is this peculiar doctrine that many with Adventism today want to distance themselves from? Is such a doctrine compatible with Biblical Christianity? We shall seek to address this head on in this teaching.
