TEMPO DE REFLETIR 01676 – 15 de fevereiro de 2026 Efésios 4:25 – Cada um de vocês deve abandonar a mentira e falar a verdade ao seu próximo. Começavam nas lojas dos Estados Unidos os lançamentos de primavera. Quatro garotas alunas de um colégio chegaram atrasadas porque decidiram que, antes das aulas, passariam pelo shopping para ver as novidades. Por isso, perderam uma prova que tinha sido dada nos primeiros períodos da manhã. As meninas foram falar com a professora, pedindo que ela fosse gentil e lhes permitisse a realização da prova. Argumento: “Professora, o pneu furou. Não havia socorro por perto e não deu para chegar antes. Eu sei que a senhora entende. Podemos fazer a prova? Por favor, prô, a senhora é boazinha! Sem problemas?” A professora admitiu e disse: “Sentem-se cada uma num canto da sala. A prova de vocês vai ter apenas uma pergunta: Qual pneu furou: dianteiro ou traseiro, e de que lado?” Quantas vezes nos colocamos em encrencas porque não tivemos a coragem de ser honestos e de falar a verdade? Esse é um assunto ao qual devemos dedicar vigilância e cuidado porque a mentira tem sua esfera de atuação não apenas naquilo que falamos. Dessa forma, qualquer coisa que eu disser ou fizer com a intenção de enganar, é mentira. Sem perceber, podemos passar uma ideia ou dar uma impressão que não seja a verdadeira. Por que não podemos mentir uma ou outra vez para evitar uma situação embaraçosa, se não vamos prejudicar ninguém, e não há perigo de que a mentira seja descoberta? Quantos nomes usamos para justificar a falsidade? Mentira branca, meia verdade, mentira social, etc. Assim, há filhos que mentem para seus pais. Há esposos que mentem para as esposas e vice-versa. Há outros que mentem para os vizinhos e colegas de trabalho. E na vida pública existem aqueles que mentem diante das câmeras de televisão, sem gaguejar nem enrubescer. A mentira pode tomar sutilmente várias formas: fazer citações deturpadas, tirando palavras e frases do contexto; fazer generalizações exageradas de pessoas ou situações … Ellen White complementa: “A intenção de enganar é o que constitui falsidade. Por um relance de olhos, por um movimento da mão, uma expressão do rosto, pode-se dizer falsidades tão eficazmente como por palavras” (Patriarcas e Profetas, p. 309) Reflita sobre isso no dia de hoje e ore comigo agora: Pai, nossa oração hoje é a mesma do salmista: Que tudo aquilo que eu falar e pensar seja agradável a Ti, ó Senhor, minha rocha e redentor [Salmo 19:14]. Tash followed Matt to Boston Breakers and Liverpool where she finished her career and talks to us about how she always wanted to make him proud. Senior Women's football reporter Emma Sanders joins the podcast who got to know Matt while at university and their friendship off the pitch over the years, including pints at the pub! Em um tempo de convulsões políticas e transições entre república e império, Marco Túlio Cícero ergueu sua voz em defesa de uma ordem política baseada não na força ou no arbítrio dos governantes, mas na razão, na justiça e na conformidade com a natureza. Para Cícero, o direito verdadeiro não era produto da convenção humana, mas uma expressão da razão divina inscrita na própria estrutura do cosmos. Essa concepção do ius naturale, herdada dos estóicos e refinada em suas obras "Da República" e "Das Leis", pressupunha que toda autoridade legítima deve se submeter àquilo que é eterno, universal e racional. A relevância desse pensamento para o sistema representativo da Igreja Adventista do Sétimo Dia está em seu reconhecimento de que a autoridade não é um fim em si, mas um meio de preservar e expressar a ordem justa. Assim como Cícero argumentava que a verdadeira lei é "a reta razão em conformidade com a natureza", também a liderança adventista deve ser expressão da mente de Cristo, da Palavra revelada e do testemunho profético. Contudo, diferentemente de Cícero, a tradição adventista não limita o fundamento da ordem à razão natural, mas a ancora na revelação bíblica e na esperança escatológica.
