Jordan Peterson sits down with Alberta's Minister of Seniors, Community, and Social Services, Jason Nixon. They discuss the dire problems created by unregulated homeless encampments, the onset of both indigenous and foreign gangs and cartels, and the two schools of thought on how to approach drug abuse—one that enables “safe” usage, where the other focuses on real addiction recovery. Jason Nixon is Alberta's Minister of Seniors, Community and Social Services. As minister, he is responsible for his province's policies on housing, homelessness, and government benefits for vulnerable people. He previously served as Leader of the Opposition, Minister of Environment and Parks and Minister of Finance and President of Treasury Board in the province of Alberta.  - Links - 2024 tour details can be found here https://jordanbpeterson.com/events   Peterson Academy https://petersonacademy.com/    For Minister Jason Nixon: On X https://twitter.com/jasonnixonab?lang=en

It's January 18th and we're back to talking about the "Just Transition" because that seems like it's all we talk about in Alberta these days... On Tuesday Danielle Smith falsely claimed that the "Just Transition" would eliminate up to 2.7 million jobs, and despite being corrected by, well, pretty much everyone, she has continued to double down on this ridiculous claim. Add to that the fact that Opposition leader Rachel Notley finally took the bait and also condemned the federal plan (that hasn't yet been detailed) to retrain workers laid off by automation and efficiency for jobs in green energy and it's been a wild, wild week. We also take a look at the partial privatization of EMS in Alberta, the recent win for Take Back Alberta in Jason Nixon's constituency and we count another few ways that Danielle Smith has played her base! And of course, strategist and politico Sarah Biggs joins us to try and make some sense of it all! With nominations ramping up for the next provincial election, so it seems, does the controversy and scandal that comes with them. Recently, a challenger to UCP minister Jason Nixon in the nomination race for Rimbey-Rocky Mountain House-Sundre put their name forward and after a campaign that was showing significant momentum was abruptly disqualified. Tim Hoven is no stranger to politics either. Having already served at the municipal level, there were a lot of questions raised when he was suddenly disqualified. THE UCP claimed that Tim was unfit, but given the scandals that have dogged Jason Nixon since before his political career even started, the explanations for his disqualifications created significant dissonance and a lot of questions. So we decided to take some of those questions straight to the Tim himself. We were so excited to have as our guests on this week’s episode, Jason Nixon and John Loecke, the Madcap Cottage Guys! Their style is on point, and their love for color and pattern is infectious. We picked their brain about combining furniture styles harmoniously, their upcoming travel plans, why they love decorating with the color green, and their pack of adorable rescue dogs.  WHAT YOU'LL HEAR ON THE SHOW Where Jason and John find inspiration, both abroad and at home. They’re as inspired by things they see in London as they are around their hometown in North Carolina. Inspiration is everywhere. They talk about their next vacation spot — Tokyo — and why they’re dying to make it there next. What do they do with all of the treasures they bring home? What do they see as living a ‘well-lived life?’ They share their more casual approach to entertaining, like ways to entertain without making everything from scratch. Why we should throw out the idea of having a ‘camera ready’ home all the time. Jason and John’s decorating pet peeves Inspirations for their fabric like for Robert Allen How their mothers’ styles impacted their own sensibilities What they would save if their house was on fire They mention the Traditional Home Napa Showhouse which they decorated using many of our products.
