Dave and Ian kick off 2019 with a new show: Joss Whedon's Firefly. In "Serenity," Captain Malcolm Reynolds and the crew of his ship, Serenity, struggle to scrape a living. After they are nearly caught while pulling an illegal salvage operation, Mal is forced to trade the goods on a remote moon with someone who shot him last time they met. Things are made even more complex when several of the ship's passengers turn out to be more than they seem. In "The Train Job," Mal agrees to pull a heist for a very dangerous gangster, but after having pulled it off finds that he can't handover the goods because it's much-needed medication. They also commit to making the character of Jayne sound more British, and Ian finds himself unable to distinguish between River Tam and Summer Glau.

We provide a spoiler-free review of M. Night Shyamalan's "Glass" and discuss the film's place in the trilogy and why it is worth seeing. GO SEE IT! Also, our movie of the week is "Space Raiders", a Roger Corman classic that may have inspired Joss Whedon's "Firefly".
We get into the particulars of two A+ episodes of Joss Whedon's Firefly this week, which bring us questions such as: just how dim is Mal, exactly, when it comes to Inara's feelings for him? If the mudders are all slaves, how come they have great dental care? How deep is Shepard Book's commitment to being a Debbie Downer? Should Mary get a perm? That has less to do with Firefly, but it is a big question.
Welcome to the new season of Must Be Tuesday! We're starting off Joss Whedon's Firefly with the exposition heavy pilot. We learn almost everything there is to know about the 'verse, the crew and the bad-guy alliance central government. If that wasn't enough, we're introduced to enough catchphrases and linguistic quirks to fill far more than the mere 14 episodes and one movie that make up Firefly's canon. Grab a beer and join us--cheers!

So...that eclipse, huh? Even the celebrities got all geeky and excited about it, including President Trump, who chose to look at it without the safety glasses. DUDE. We'll tell you why Joss Whedon's (Firefly, Buffy The Vampire Slayer, The Avengers) recent divorce closed down his fansite. Did your neighbor win the lottery? You're about to declare bankruptcy- no, this IS a thing, we'll explain on the Morning Stream today. Also! How to shine in the American Idol auditions about to be held in Provo. Be sure to drop a comment here when we talk about winning dinner for 4 at Christopher's Prime Steakhouse and limo service from Executive Transportation- you'll be entered and we'll draw a winner on Friday. Easy! Simple!
Few shows have engendered as much loyalty in one season as Joss Whedon's Firefly. Among its cast was Alan Tudyk as the pilot Hoban "Wash" Washburne, who is now beloved by Star Wars fans as Rogue One's wisecracking 'droid K-2SO. Cancelled due to the FOX network's nincompoopery, nonetheless fans got Serenity, a movie promising to give some sense of closure about their beloved characters. Join John and Mike as they discuss Joss Whedon's Serenity. They reminisce about their first viewings, their changed impressions over time, and whether the movie is as equally accessible to "Browncoats" as general audiences.JOIN THE MISSION!Subscribe in Apple PodcastsSend Feedback to the Show TheNerdParty.com/ContactInteract on Facebook at facebook.com/TheNerdPartyFollow The Nerd Party on Twitter: @JoinNerdPartyFind us on Instagram: @TheNerdParty #GreatShotKid
As Long As I'm Flyin', my album inspired by Joss Whedon's Firefly, just hit $6,000 on Kickstarter. I'm not even halfway through the campaign. I'd say that's a great start! Last week, I added some new rewards to the campaign. I added a couple more today. As I was creating them and getting ready for my daughter, Inara's birthday, it got me thinking about what makes great Kickstarter rewards. And also, what makes a great present? I'm not good at creating either. But each time I hold a Kickstarter, I learn. And each time the opportunity to give another present appears, I get a little better too. You can hear a solo recording of "Hero of Canton" and "The Long Arm" on the Kickstarter page. Here are some other great bits I share in this week's podcast. It's time for some thrilling heroics as Shawn Engel, Paul Spataro and Andrew Leyland get all high and mighty discussing JOSS WHEDON'S FIREFLY. In this inaugral episode, we watch the pilot SERENITY (not to be confused with the film SERENITY which's we'll watch last!) Listen along as we slowly start to say "ain't" a lot and cuss in Mandarin.

In this episode, Black Hollywood Live hosts Derrial Christon, Courtney Stewart and Jesse Janedy interview special guest Richard Brooks. Richard Brooks is an actor/director/singer-songwriter, best known for his powerful portrayal of ADA Paul Robinette in the original cast of the long running "Law and Order" television series franchise. His extensive acting credits include numerous substantial roles on television, film and stage that have shown his versatility to shine through any genre. His notable performances include the notorious bounty hunter in Joss Whedon's "Firefly," the iconic Henry McNeil in the SyFy/USA network cult favorite "Good vs. Evil" and pivotal guest appearances on "NCIS," "NYPD Blue," and "Lie to Me." Along with his impressive resume of television credits Brooks has also lit up the big screen with his unforgettable characters in "The Crow: City of Angels," "To Sleep with Anger," and the critically acclaimed Vietnam War saga,
After 20 months of doing the podcast, we finally decide it's time to cover Joss Whedon's sci-fi western classic, Firefly and the follow-up movie Serenity. And to occupy the fourth treadmill (?) for this conversation we call in our own big damn hero, Mark Dury. We recap our history with Mr. Whedon at the time of Firefly's premiere, personal introductions to the show, favorite episodes, favorite characters, thoughts on Serenity as a wrap-up to the show, and whether it should ever come back. After our main discussion we give our own take on the Star Trek TOS crew / Firefly versus match up from Episode 200 of The Atomic Geeks. In our Nerd To-Dos, we hear about Cowboy Bebop, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn, The Transformers: The Movie, and a rewatching of Farscape.
We're taking a trip to outer space this week as we look at Brian K. Vaughan's latest comic book series, Saga, which just wrapped its first arc last month; and Joss Whedon's Firefly, which just celebrated its tenth anniversary. Paul and AJ discuss the weirdness and gorgeousness of Saga, then think about where they were when Firefly first aired and how they felt watching it become a cult phenomenon after its cancellation. Plus, Paul discusses the cassowary presentation he'll be delivering at the National AAZK Conference, AJ muses on The Master, and more! Next: do you know the Muppet man? We'll be discussing the works of Jim Henson.
It's been over a decade since the crew of the Serenity first took flight on FOX. The short, sporadic, eleven-episode run of Joss Whedon's "Firefly" is now the poster child for all smart television that's prematurely killed by stupid networks. A "space western" may have been impossible to categorize, but the show is impossible to resist, with colorful, fleshed-out characters, brisk and brilliant writing, and a tragically huge sense of potential that sadly was never realized. The 2005 movie "Serenity" helped to continue the story, but fans are still eternally left wanting more.
Remember When is back, and shinier than ever! In our latest episode, we talk about Joss Whedon's Firefly and the feature film follow-up, Serenity. A cult phenomenon that lasted a mere 14 episodes (3 of which weren't aired in the original run), this show holds a special place in the hearts of Jay and Parris. We kick off by discussing how the two of us were introduced to this legendary series, and talk about how a simple TV show turned us from enthusiastic fans into Browncoats (and what it means to be a Browncoat). And after a fresh viewing of the entire TV run, we take a look at which episodes are our favorite, which ones will end up crumbling over time, and remark at how extraordinary it is that so many of the episodes hold up over time. We even give you our selections for favorite and least favorite episodes. Then we jump into the Serenity feature film. Both of us followed this piece of cinema joy as it progressed through creation, seeing it several times in pre-release fashion before it even hit the mass market. You won't believe how many times Jay saw the movie in total! Serenity was a moment of beauty for both Parris and Jay, and we talk about some of our favorite scenes, pieces of dialog that tickled us, and what makes this such a spectacle to behold. And hey, even in our Firefly-centric episode, we have a few tangents. Fortunately though, we saved those until the end, so if you're not a fan of True Blood, you can skip right past it. We close our show with a BIG BIG ANNOUNCEMENT that will be the first big step for Remember When's future. This is something you won't want to miss. As always, Remember When continues to grow and thrive thanks to the joy, love, appreciation, and comments we get from our fans. If you enjoy our show, please leave us positive feedback on iTunes. We really appreciate it, plus it helps us reach people that have never heard of us!
