Pinckney's passion for the game of baseball was prevalent at a young age when he became a batboy for the New Jersey Jackals independent team in 2013, at age eleven. Pinckney spent his summers in the professional clubhouse where he learned the intricacies of the game. He began to interview players in 2015 and was hired by the organization as the Press Box & Player Procurement Asst. in 2018. In 2019, he assisted the field manager in assembling a league championship winning squad. In 2022, he was named the Director of Digital Content. Pinckney has always had a passion for growing the game of baseball and finding ways to assist the younger generation. In 2023, he published his book Passion Prevails to help youth players navigate their careers as they face adversity. Dan Pinckney and his wife Iada have lived their lives walking in the gifts of the Spirit. Twinsburg High School teacher Daneé Pinckney says she knew she wanted to be a teacher ever since she was a small child, but it wasn't that long ago that she found herself at a burnout point in her career and was considering leaving the profession. Starting an African American literature course for her students and empowering them to be engaged citizens helped reignite her passion. Now, as the 2025 Ohio Teacher of the Year, Pinckney is hoping to help other educators find their passion again while shining a spotlight on what they need to succeed for their students. Here, she makes a point to constantly search for new opportunities to challenge herself professionally and personally, as evidenced by her creating a senior-level course on African American Literature. The course addressed a need for representation sought by both students and community members. She obtained grant funding to support its implementation enriching educational experiences for all.Using literature as the anchor, she works to encourage students' engagement in community service and activism projects instilling in them a sense of social responsibility and civic engagement. Shortly after the creation of the nation's first municipal orphanage in 1790, the citizens of Charleston contributed generously to the construction of a large and well-documented edifice on Boundary (now Calhoun) Street that housed thousands of children between 1794 and 1951. The location of the institution's initial home, visited by President George Washington in May 1791, is far less remembered, however. A search for clues to the location of Charleston's first Orphan House leads to a forgotten Pinckney family property in the heart of Colleton Square.

At the end of an epic three-part hearing Thursday, South Carolina Judge Clifton Newman sentenced Alex Murdaugh's former best friend and co-conspirator Cory Fleming to 20 years in state prison for his role in helping Alex steal millions from the Satterfield and Pinckney families. True Sunlight co-hosts Mandy Matney and Liz Farrell break down that dramatic hearing, plus they discuss what went down in two other hearings that happened in this same courtroom: One for Alex and one for Russell Laffitte.
