For our friends in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, 5 years have elapsed since Thanos snapped his fingers and instantly removed half the population in the galaxy.  For Remember When, it's been over a year.  Time travel is funny like that ;) Now that we're back from our extended stay on Titan, we've got some catching up to do... personally, and cinematically!  We start the show with a spoiler-laden discussion on Avengers: Endgame.  When we last left our Marvel heroes, they were scattered across the galaxy, like dust in the wind (too soon?).  Endgame has the tough job of landing a story arc that has carried over 11 years and more than 20 movies.  Did it succeed? What DIDN'T we like?  Listen in and get settled, because we have thoughts. After that, we're gonna jump right into Spider-Man: Far From Home.  Peter Parker's return from The Blip, and his extended stay on Titan, has some serious MCU repercussions.   In the midst of this, we have some quick chats about Captain Marvel, Into The Spider-Verse (which, OMG, watch it on Netflix if you haven't yet!) and more. As the show closes, we also talk about The Matrix (two decades of Neo goodness!), the fade-out of the Netflix Marvel era, and more.  Oh, and Jay's been a busy beaver in our show absence! Listen in at the end to hear what's in store for our next episode. We appreciate all our fans for your support, your words of encouragement, and your patience.  Thanks for the emails, tweets, and Facebook comments you've left us in the past year! And if you haven't seen it yet, be sure and stop by our Facebook page for an idea of what lies ahead. Please note that we're no longer maintaining FilmTangent... it was a lot of upkeep for what amounted to being an extraneous channel.  To keep up with us between shows, follow us on our Facebook & Twitter accounts for the show (@rwpodcast) ... or via our Twitter accounts (@JasonVeeBee and @vicious696)

18 movies.  Ten years.   That's how long this has been building up.  It would have been easy to chalk up the buzz behind Infinity War as marketing hype, rabid fanboy passion, or something else.  And honestly, before the movie came out, no one would have blamed you. And then the credits rolled on Infinity War.  And it turns out... no... it was all true.  All of it.  In some weird way, the movie manages to exceed the insane amounts of hype that led into it. And if you're like us, when those credits finished rolling... you walked out of the theater with your jaw hanging open, and some emotional scars.   So let's heal together!  After multiple viewings, Parris and Jay sit down to talk about the fallout from Infinity War... both in terms of the events of the movie, and how the movie has impacted us.   We're going to go into detail on all the events of Infinity War, beginning to end.  We talk about the things that were under-served, the characters we didn't deserve, and the path that's been laid out over the past 18 movies.   We also have ideas on where the story will go next.  The ending leaves one of the largest cliffhangers in cinematic history, but if you look at Infinity War, there are clues about the road ahead. This entire episode is dedicated to Avengers: Infinity War, and because there are SO MANY SPOILERS, we've elected to postpone our conversation around Fletch until Episode 74.  And if you're one of the people that hasn't seen Infinity War yet, we strongly urge you to wait to listen to this episode until you've had a chance to watch the movie.  Trust us, there's magic in not knowing. Our show continues to grow because of YOU, our listeners! We appreciate all the feedback we've had over the past two episodes.  We hope that after you've had a chance to listen to this, you'll drop us a line and tell us you enjoyed it. We thought we were prepared. After that hype-generating trailer back in November, we thought we were ready for what Infinity War had to offer.  And then that second trailer hit last week... We're starting the show with BOTH of us needing an adult, and recap'ing the second trailer.  Parris and Jay have theories.. who lives, who dies, and just who the heck Peter Dinklage is playing.  (We're guessing it's not Thor) And on the flip side of the Marvel coin, there's the second season of Jessica Jones.  Is it as bad as Iron Fist?  No. But the show really does have some problems, and we've got to talk about that Villain problem that Marvel's running up against.   Then it's trailer talk, and some TV catch-up! This Is Us and The Good Place are two fantastic shows you need to be watching if you aren't already. Lastly, we jump into Doctor Who, some listener Q&A... and Jay's got a question.  And a confession.  But we'll get to that. Thank you, as always to our listeners.  We had some amazing feedback on the last show, and we hope you'll keep it coming.  The positive words, the encouragement, and your support are the reasons we do this show Find us on Twitter and Facebook: @rwpodcast Email us:  rw@filmtangent.com TIME STAMPS:   0:00 to 24:28 - The Infinity War trailer 24:28 - 28:47 - Spider-man: Into the Spidey-verse and the Venom trailer 28:47 - 42:32 - Jessica Jones S2 and the Marvel Netflix verse 42:32 - 54:00 - TV shows (This is Us, The Good Place, Doctor Who, Westworld) 54:00 - 58:57 - Audience questions from our live stream 58:57 to end - Jay's confession, and a question

After a lengthy slumber that feels like something the Winter Soldier would have experienced, Remember When is back on the air.  Grab a drink and get comfortable, because we have a LOT of ground to cover. To start our show, there's the Star Wars conversation.  We're covering The Last Jedi with a ton of spoilers, and talking about the transitional elements of this movie, how the future of the Skywalker franchise looks, and what we think about this whole "Anthology" set of prequels.  If Solo's teasers are any indication, the future isn't so bright for them. Then we jump into the latter half of Netflix's lineup of Marvel shows in 2017.  After knockout hits in Luke Cage and Daredevil, we're faced with the Sophomore Slump of Iron Fist and the mediocre Defenders.  We've got lots to say. And what about Spider-Man Homecoming? Is it one of the best things to come out of the Sony email hack, or is Michael Keaton still just Birdman? Do we finally have a definitive web slinger, and is Tom Holland the right guy?  After that, we're hitting Thor Ragnarok and Guardians of the Galaxy 2.  A quick taste change in Marvel movies following last year's Civil War But then we get to the juicy bits... Black Panther. This utterly stellar Marvel movie isn't just great superhero cinema... it's just a perfect movie on its own.  We talk about its impact on the MCU, how it affects Parris, and what this movie means in our current social and political structures.  Serious talk?  You bet.  But it's beautiful, just like the movie that inspires it. .... oh crap, DC did a bunch of stuff too.  We should talk about that just for the sake of posterity, so join us near the end as we cover Justice League.  Believe it or not, Jay liked it! The road ahead looks good too.  Infinity War is just around the corner, Deadpool 2 is mere weeks afterwards.... the future is bright indeed. And speaking of the road ahead, be sure and join us for the final minutes of the podcast.  We're talking about what's next for Remember When, and you might be surprised at some of the cool stuff we have in store for you.  It's been a while.  Life happened while we were gone. OK you guys, listen. We normally start the show and tell you how and where to find us. Email addresses, phone numbers, Facebook pages, and so on. NONE OF THAT MATTERS. We're skipping the usual introductions and jumping right in this time, because holy cow... a lot has happened in the last few months! We start out talking about Rogue One.  The latest in the Star Wars rebirth movies had some shaky production stories behind it.  One of us hated it, and the other one loved it.  Flawed? Yes.  But we've got both sides of the Force with us here. And the high ground! After that, it's time to talk Justice League, Marvel, and what the rest of 2017 looks like. While we're on the subject of Marvel, we should probably mention that Jay has watched the entirety of Luke Cage! It's time for us to talk about the Marvel universe in Netflix.  Thankfully, Parris has also watched Iron Fist and is happy to give us important words of caution.   Words like "boring" and "yawn".  Oh, and speaking of Netflix?  Stranger Things.  It happens here. And we even cover Three Amigos.  It's like we have many pinatas. A PLETHORA of pinatas. We have a lot of ground to catch up on. Come join us for the ride.  It's our first show of 2017. And on the plus side, at least our podcasts are more frequent than Sherlock seasons (and more enjoyable, based on the most recent season!)

Hello again! You've probably been wondering about us, and where we've been. It's a long story that involved job changes, geographical moves, and general life circumstances. But let's skip the details and get right into the goodness. Remember When is back on the air! We should warn you though... this may be the most Superhero-y episode we've ever done!  The last few months seem like they've been filled with nothing but comic book movies and trailers. Our starting topic is Batman vs. Superman vs. Your Better Judgment. This trainwreck of DC's has a lot to be ashamed about and boy, do we talk about that shame. We also cover the follow-up, Suicide Squad, which.... well, we don't want to spoil EVERYTHING in the write-up. Then we jump into the Marvel Cinematic Universe and look back at Civil War. It's the Avengers 2 you deserved. And while we're on the topic of superheroes, Jay mentions that he's all caught up on the Marvel Netflix shows. And boy, does he have some words! In the middle of all this, we've got talk about the Rogue One trailers, the worries over Guardians 2 and Dr. Strange, the hope for DC's salvation, and what's coming up in the weeks ahead. That's right. Weeks. Not years. ;) Our show continues to exist because of your support. We say that every time, but it's true. In fact, it was feedback from fans that helped make this episode happen. "Chewie... we're home" And since we know your RSS feed has been feeling a little dusty, we don't waste a lot of time with the formalities in our latest episode of Remember When. We've barely said our hello's when we jump into the show content. Because BOY OH BOY, we have a lot of ground to cover! Age of Ultron is our first target. It's been hyped, marketed, teased, and long-sought-after. But after the extensive wait, this movie just can't meet expectations. We're prepared to tear it a new one. We spoil the heck out of this movie. Then there's the new season of Game of Snore... er, Game of Thrones. Jay came close to tapping out near the end, and Parris has some pointed thoughts on why this season feels so "off". And yeah, we tell you all the big story moments here, too. The fun isn't limited to those two items, either. At the end of the show, we're mixing in talk of the new Episode VII teaser, our Ant-Man anticipation (or rather, extreme lack thereof), Netflix's Daredevil show, the third season of Orange is the New Black, the final season of Mad Men, the premiere season of Better Call Saul... It's a show filled with five months of conversation, all wrapped up in an hour. And we jump around a lot with tons of spoilers, but rest assured, we cover a lot of ground.  Fans of our original podcast, UncleGamer Radio....  you might want to pay close attention to those final few minutes of this episode. Remember When has always been about the odd tangents, so for our first episode of 2015, we're taking on a new piece of media. Podcasts have been in a renewed spotlight over the past four months as a result of the success of Serial, a new show from the team behind This American Life.  Serial is the documented review of the murder trial against Adnan Syed, accused of murdering his ex-girlfriend in 1999.  This investigation is filled with drama, corruption, lies, suspicion, and so many incredible stories that it's hard to believe it's all true.   But this 15 year old murder is not only a true story, but is reported on so fascinatingly and in such minute detail that we've been captivated by Sarah Koenig and the stories she has to share. Parris and Jay recap their learnings from the Serial podcast, who they think committed the murder, and talk about their stance on Adnan's claimed innocence.  We're pretty sure the Mail Kimp girl did it. Not a fan of Serial?  Don't worry, we're not going to leave out without a movie discussion.  November and December had some HUGE trailer releases, and we're going to talk about them. We also give you some initial details on our FIRST REMEMBER WHEN MEETUP!  Coming to Seattle in December 2015.  Know any good movies coming out then?Remember When is a product of love, and we offer it as a free download to our listeners.  Your enthusiasm and your feedback is one of the most important pieces of our show.  If you haven't already, please like us on Facebook at facebook.com/rwpodcast or follow us on Twitter @rwpodcast.  Or you can email us at rw@filmtangent.com! Good podcasters always pay their debts.   For Remember When, that means we're finally giving you what you've all been waiting for!  We're heading to Westeros and taking a deep dive into Game of Thrones.   After several years of Parris' urging to get on the bandwagon, Jay has finally (FINALLY) caught up on the show.  He's so eager to talk about it that we barely have time to do a show intro!  We just jump right in. We won't lie:  It's an intense talk. It took Jay a few attempts to get into the show, and you probably won't be able to guess why.  We rave about some of the best performances in the show, and it's not just dominated by Peter Dinklage.  And we talk about THAT MOMENT in Season 3, when the wedding gets a little red. We don't just cover individual episodes either.  We talk about our crazy theories on how the show will end, and what's in store for some of our favorite characters.   And the epic conversations don't just stop at Dem Thrones!  These past few weeks have given us a bevy of news from the Marvel Cinematic Universe.  We've seen some of the first meaty scenes from Age of Ultron, we've seen the full roster of movies that's coming for Phase 3.... and boy, are we giddy. Cap 3.  Civil War.  The Infinity War.  It's just.... so beautiful.  And we talk about them all, and how this giant story is about to get woven together.   There's a lot of goodness in the show, if we say so ourselves! If you're enjoying our podcast, please send us a note and say Hi!  We do this show out of passion for you, our listeners.   You can email us at rw@filmtangent.com or you can keep in touch with us between shows at http://facebook.com/rwpodcast or on Twitter @rwpodcast.   Time Stamps:0:00 to 38:48 - Game of Thrones, all four seasons spoiled 38:48 to end - Marvel Cinematic Universe, Phase 3, the Age of Ultron trailer, why DC must be crying in a corner, and the Great Geek Cinema Year That Will Be 2015.

We've unofficially dubbed May as "The Month of Marvel" and to celebrate, we have a brand new podcast.  Don't call it a regular release, or you might jinx us! Parris and Jay spend a few minutes catching up.  We talk about the recent Episode VII announcements, and Parris cycles back on the recently rebooted Robocop.   Godzilla's recent arrival in theaters piqued Parris' curiousity and we talk about the latest take on a classic franchise.  Thankfully, it's nowhere near as bad as the Matthew Broderick era. Then we hit the meat & potatoes of our show:  The Amazing Spider-Man 2 and X-Men: Days of Future Past.   After a release like Captain America: The Winter Solder, Sony and Fox have a lot of competition in the Marvel universe.  And we're here to tell you why Spidey is already in need of another reboot, and why we liked Days of Future Past. But that's not all!  Parris actually managed to watch the entirety of GI Joe: Retaliation.  We can only assume that some kind of hypnosis was in effect because WOW... that movie is a train wreck.  And speaking of train wrecks, Transformers 4 is looking like it's going to live up to the standards of Transformers 3! Which is to say, the trailers look terrible.  I mean really, Optimus Prime riding Grimlock?  Yeesh. Lastly, we wrap up with some talk on TV's worst year in a long time, and a look back at Mad Men.   And if you're waiting for a return to "Great Movies Jay Has Never Seen", listen in at the end!  We announce the movie selection for our next episode.   Our show exists because of YOU, our listeners!  Your positive comments, encouraging feedback, and multiple email messages asking if we're dead are what help keep the show going.  If you like Remember When, PLEASE let us know by joining our Facebook page at http://facebook.com/rwpodcast and leaving a comment, or talking to us on Twitter at @rwpodcast.   Time stamps: 0:00 to 13:50 - Catch-up, Episode VII, Robocop 2014 (spoilers) 13:50 to 19:30 - Godzilla (mild spoilers) 19:30 to 36:02 - The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (spoilers as a public service) 36:02 to 53:14 - X-Men: Days of Future Past (spoilers all X-Men movies) 53:14 to 1:05:38 - GI Joe: Retaliation, Transformers 4, Jem & The Holograms 1:05:38 to End - TV's Worst Year, the pick for our next Great Movies Jay Has Never Seen, Wrap-up

"Back so soon?", you ask?  Indeed!  Remember When is forgoing its usual three month waiting period between episodes with brand new content.  As one of our Twitter friends put it:  In Parris and Jay time, it's only been 1 week since the last show! And in the world of entertainment, a lot has changed in the last seven weeks!  Netflix has gone from being the place where you watch reruns of Star Trek Voyager to a major powerhouse with Emmy nominations and some of the best shows on TV.   We spend the early part of the episode loving on Orange is the New Black.  This new show from the creator of Weeds is arguably one of the best shows you can watch right now, and is almost certain to be a frontrunner in the 2014 Emmy season.  We talk about how we each independently watched the series, then almost immediately watched it a second time, because it's just SO good! Once that was done, Jay sat down with the first season of House of Cards to see what the Emmy voters got all worked up about this year, and Parris gets a well deserved "I told you so" AND OMG BREAKING BAD IS BACK!  Walter White and Jesse Pinkman grace our TV screens once again, and we can't wait to talk about the powerhouse of a season opener. Remember to tread lightly here... tons of spoilers. And now the story of omnipotent aliens who lost everything, and the two podcast hosts who had no choice but to watch their respective movies and see if they could keep it together. We start off the show with a look back at Star Trek Into Darkness.  While our anticipation for the movie ran high, the final product proved to have a few holes.  Our spoiler-filled chat on the Final Frontier talks about the gross underutilization of Benedict Cumberbatch, the way they've mangled the story of some of the characters, where the story hit its all time high, and just a few of the ways the movie pays tribute to the original timeline. Then we jump in, feet first, to our Man of Steel discussion.  Remember back in Episode 8 when we talked about what it would take for Superman to be relevant and interesting to current movie audiences?  It seems like Zack Snyder and Christopher Nolan might have been listening in to our show that week, because Man of Steel feels like a line-by-line interpretation of so many of our ideas.  We gush about the updated approach to the movie, lament the property losses, and talk about how much we love Man of Steel almost in spite of itself. Jay's been binge watching an old TV show, and we look back at the Bluth empire and its mighty fall.   Then it's a quick sideways tangent into the current landscape of TV, with brief chats on Mad Men, Game of Thrones, Orphan Black, Breaking Bad, and the finale of The Office.   There's lots of stuff in this episode, all crammed into a 75 minute window! As always, thank you to our fans for your continued support of our show. We continue to do the show because of all the wonderful feedback we get. Look!  Up in the Sky!  It's a bird... it's a plane... IT BIRD PLANE!   Meanwhile, back on the ground, a brand new episode of Remember When is available for your auditory enjoyment. Iron Man 3 hit theaters last week, and both of us have strong opinions on the first volley in Marvel's Phase 2 initiative.  We converse about what it's like coming off of The Avengers and how Iron Man 3 fails in that regard, what the movie does to be better than its atrocious successor in the Iron Man series, and how Robert Downey Jr. might be getting too old for this s**t.   Then we slide our way into talk about the most recent trailers for Star Trek Into Darkness and Man of Steel.  The former is just hours from release and we can't wait to sink our fanboy teeth into this piece of cinematic goodness!  The latter is looking more and more promising.  And somehow, as we're talking, we manage to find ourselves talking about an alternate universe where the Beatles reunite and Superman III is never made.  No, that's not a joke. Then it's on to the TV in our lives! Mad Men is letting us down, and Parks & Recreation is on FIRE this season.  Parris encourages Jay to watch Archer, Parris talks about his change in viewing habits, and Jay encourages everyone to listen to The Americans... again. Pick yourselves up on the floor!  Not only is Remember When back with a new episode, we're on schedule!  Heads up, we're coming in HOT!  Parris has just finished the first season of Sherlock after a year of pressure from Jay.  And boy, do we have a lot to talk about! Parris recounts his experiences watching the first season and what he thinks about the show's brilliance.  Jay chats about an alternate universe where Benedict Cumberbatch nearly became the Eleventh Doctor.   And then, of course, we tangent off to talk about the news of David Tennant's return to the Who-niverse for the 50th Anniversary Special.... and we somehow, unexplainably, end up talking about Beverly Hills 90210 (the original) and Saved by the Bell.  Go figure! Jay lets it slip that he's not a fan of Dinobots, which leads to a nostalgic trip down memory lane as we revisit our love of the original Transformers cartoon, the G.I. Joe movie, Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers, and Voltron.  Parris lets Jay know about the original edit of G.I. Joe where a beloved character nearly died, and Jay talks about his emotional stress from the original Transformers movie. We briefly chat about the starting episode for the latest season of Mad Men, and then tangent on how both of us are coming up to an impasse with The Walking Dead... at different points in the show.   And naturally, this leads to catching up on where we're at with other shows, like Parks & Recreation, Modern Family, and Community.  And then Jay talks about the first 15 minutes of Defiance, and how painful it looks. Whether you like new stuff or old memories, this episode has something for you! Yes, it's been a while.  But if it helps, WE MISSED YOU TOO!  And that's why we're back with Episode 55 of Remember When.  After a slight, minor, tiny delay due to Real Life, we've dusted off our microphones and come back for a fun and spirited conversation! We kick off the show with a chat about Super 8.  This J.J. Abrams helmed adventure seeks to capture the spirit of Steven Spielberg and The Goonies by taking us back to the era of the late 70's ... but peters out near the end.  We talk about the successes and failures of the movie, and sidetrack into whether or not J.J. Abrams is really as great as Hollywood seems to think he is. Then we sidestep our way into The Goonies, a timeless piece of 80's pop culture.  A seminal work from our youth, this film ages like fine wine or good cheese.  In fact, it's better to say it ages like Karen Allen (listen to the show... you'll get this joke later) And since we're on a J.J. Abrams themed show, we talk about the news of his helming Episode VII, and what we think this means for the future of the Star Wars franchise.  Can our childhood memories be resurrected from the cruel, tortured world of the prequels?  Will we be able to feel proud for this sci-fi epic once again?  And how much lens flare can you fit into a single space epic? We look ahead at the summer movie season.. there's a LOT of stuff ahead (like Iron Man 3, Star Trek Into Darkness, and Man of Steel) and a lot of stuff that has us worried (like Man of Steel and Kick-Ass 2).   And TV is in a WILD place right now! From the success of House of Cards to the general failure of pretty much every one of the major TV networks, it's like we're back in the wild wild west of content programming.  As always, thank you to our fans for your patience and understanding as the duties of both of our Real Lives come up!  We've missed you and thank you so much for your words of support these past few months.  If you'd like to reach us, give us a ring at 714-758-5027 (you can call or text)! A displacement of geographic proportions left our podcast in an unintended hiatus.  Now that Jay's moved across the country and settled into his new digs, we're back behind the mics and getting into our old routine. Episode 54 drops us at the end of our Star Wars series, where we sit and take a look at 1983's Return of the Jedi.  The final installment of the Original Trilogy is a controversial piece to say the least, but a renewed look at the movie brings a few surprises.  We talk about the Return of the Jedi that might have been (Han dies before the first half of the movie?) and the Return of the Jedi that will never be again (Hayden Christensen's Ghost... need we say more?).  You don't even have to be an Ewok lover to find something to agree with us with in this show... we run the gamut of opinions and have a lot to talk about. And the timing of our episode couldn't have come at a better time!  Between the news of the Disney buyout of LucasFilm and the announcement of Episodes VII through IX, there's a whole slew of new stuff for us to offer up our opinion on.  We're going to tell you why you don't REALLY want to see the original cast in the new movie, why it's a terrible idea to film the Heir to the Empire trilogy in this day and age, and what it's going to take for the new movies to be successful. We cap off the show with a look at the road ahead for movies and our current landscape of TV.  The new Star Trek teaser certainly teased, the poster for Man of Steel has us intrigued, and Homeland's looking pretty solid. Our tangents escape us as we start off Episode 53, the latest and greatest episode in your Remember When podcast. Before the show even starts, we kick off with some crazy hijinx as Siri delivers some bad news to Parris, leaving him flummoxed as Florida State is down at the half.   And then we jump into this week's episode of "Great" Movies Jay Has Never Seen.  We're using "Great" in the loosest sense of the word, because our latest movie from the Wayback Machine is The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai: Across the Eighth Dimension.  If you've never seen this movie before, our advice before watching it is.... don't.  If you have seen the movie before, then sit back and relax as we look at one of those nostalgic 80's movies that has been absolutely decimated by the passage of time.  Seriously, what were we thinking?   After a spoiler-laden discussion, we jump into our thoughts on some of the upcoming movies for 2012 and how the last three months of the year may be infinitely better than the first nine combined.  With so many great movies in November and December, it almost makes up for the lackluster summer season. We take a look back at the first half of Breaking Bad's final season and discuss whether or not it was a smart idea to split the season, and if the narrative handled the split well.  We also chat about NBC's comedies as the fall season starts, and some of the more promising shows in this year's lineup.  Plus, Jay gives us the scoop on his Walking Dead adventures! And guess what?  WE HAVE A VOICE MAIL PHONE LINE AGAIN!  And more importantly, it accepts both phone calls and standard text messages.  So why not give us a ring at 714-758-5027?  Or if you don't want to hear the sounds of our voices, you can click through to our Facebook page at http://facebook.com/rwpodcast or say hi to us on Twitter at @rwpodcast 0:00 to 1:51 - Siri's sidetrack, show Intro 1:51 to 16:11 - Great Movies Jay Has Never Seen (Buckaroo Banzai) 16:11 to 24:56 - Quick tangent into the new Robocop remake, the Kick-Ass sequel, and the summer movie season (ridiculously mild spoilers) 24:56 to 34:22 -  The new trailers for Lincoln, Cloud Atlas, Skyfall, The Hobbit, and the close-out movies for 2012 34:22 to 50:34 - Breaking Bad (spoilers for the whole thing) 50:34 to 57:04 - NBC's Revolution, Parks & Rec's new season (super duper mild spoilers) 57:04 to 1:00:46 - Jay's adventures through The Walking Dead S2 (spoilers through episode 4) 1:00:46 to 1:05:00 - The New Normal (mild spoilers) 1:05:00 to end - Wrap up

We're back in the saddle right out of the gate with episode 52. Want us to prove it?  Here's the scoop:  We tangent RIGHT AWAY.  Before we start talking about movies, before we jump into any of our planned topics, we get ourselves sidetracked.  And with real life news, to boot!  We talk about some of the successes in our personal lives, what's been driving us lately... and even hint strongly at a video game podcast in the near-ish future? After ten minutes, we hop into the Wayback Machine and jump back in time to 1993.  America was still recoiling from the horrific news that Crystal Pepsi was being pulled off the market, and we needed something to heal ourselves with.  Along comes Jurassic Park, Steven Spielberg's popcorn flick based on the Michael Crichton novel.    We talk about what it was like to sit wide-eyed under a giant screen with the new DTS sound systems when the movie came out on opening weekend.... and then give the movie a fresh look.  Can a two decade old movie that's special effect heavy hold up under the weight of time? Then we tangent into Star Wars and Spielberg's involvement with the Lucas franchise (and vice versa)... and further spiral off into Jay's "delayed reaction" on some of our recent comedies... Parris' fresh look at The Avengers... and more!  It's one of our most tangent-y shows of all time, and it's chock full of goodies.   And guess what?  WE HAVE A VOICE MAIL PHONE LINE AGAIN!  And more importantly, it accepts both phone calls and standard text messages.  So why not give us a ring at 714-758-5027?  Or if you don't want to hear the sounds of our voices, you can click through to our Facebook page at http://facebook.com/rwpodcast or say hi to us on Twitter at @rwpodcast.  You can also type out a nice letter to us and send it to rw@filmtangent.com Time stamps: 0:00 to 11:10 - Intro, sidetrack into real life stuff, weight loss, and a potential video game podcast 11:10 to 28:28 - Jurassic Park chat 28:28 to 32:44   -  George Lucas & Steven Spielberg, 1941, Jay's "delayed reaction" to recent "Great Movies" 32:44 to 35:55 - Caddyshack, Bill Murray, Chevy Chase, Saturday Night Live (the early years, when it was good) 35:55 to 45:16 - True Blood (with tons of spoilers... but trust us, we're sparing you) 45:16 to 48:22 - Breaking Bad (mild spoilers, but a few choice quotes) 48:22 to 51:42 - Jay's little surprise 51:42 to 59:27 - Homeland & Dexter (no spoilers) plus an extended discussion on why you can't flinch when a character needs to die 59:27 to 1:08:26  - Parris takes a second look at The Avengers (with spoilers) with a fresh look at The Dark Knight Rises (also with spoilers) 1:08:26 to 1:14:10 - Jay goes through the summer movie season  1:14:10 to 1:19:18  - WTF JAY HAS NEVER SEEN BUCKAROO BANZAI?!?!  (and more tangents) 1:19:18 to end - Wrap up

When you take a man and turn him into an idea, he becomes a legend.  When you take a movie franchise and turn it into a legend, it ends up generating one of the most epic podcasts of all time.  And after much anticipation on everyone's parts (including our own!), we're pleased to present our dedicated podcast for The Dark Knight Rises. Recorded on the same day we both saw Christopher Nolan's cap on the Batman trilogy, we sit down with fresh memories of the movie and talk about what we loved, how so many of the ideas and concepts in the movie were beautiful constructed over the course of the three movies, and how The Dark Knight Rises managed to provide some serious pay-off.   We look back at our original skepticism on Anne Hathaway's casting as Selina Kyle and laugh at how foolish we were.  Then we look back at Joseph Gordon Levitt's casting and find ourselves a little puzzled.  Jay admits to having some problems with the ending, we look at some of the parts that don't add up... But through it all, we cap off a legacy with a detailed look at why The Dark Knight Rises is such a brilliant, spectacular piece of cinema.  And while it's certainly not the perfection piece that The Dark Knight was, we can certainly agree that TDKR is what it needs to be... one of the best endings in any trilogy in a long, long time.

Parris comes back from his viewing of Abe Lincoln Vampire Hunter with an admission of his own, and Jay talks about how a second viewing of Prometheus helped to alleviate his ambivalence towards the movie.  Both of us have had second helpings of The Avengers as well, and we spend some time talking about the state of Superhero movies in the industry. They say that in space, no one can hear you scream.  But if you're like either of us, you were probably ecstatic to hear that Ridley Scott would be coming back to his beloved outer space franchise and directing a semi-prequel to Alien.  And now that it's been released, we're sitting down behind our respective microphones to talk about 2012's Prometheus. With a high profile director like Ridley Scott, and a cast that includes such notables as Guy Pearce, Idris Elba, Charlize Theron, Michael Fassbender, and that girl with the tattoo, you'd probably expect this to be another slam dunk in the roster of Summer Movies, akin to The Avengers in pedigree, scope, and the "Wow" factor. This podcast takes a look at both Alien (which is now 33 years old... holy cow, we're old!) and Prometheus.  We spoil them both as we talk about how the two tie into each other, what's missing from the new movie, what opportunities were left untouched, and how certain actors in this movie are just kick-ass beyond belief.  When Prometheus works, it's fantastic.  And when it doesn't.... well... Parris and Jay, Assemble!  The summer movie season has kicked off with a bang and it's time to jump in feet first. Our latest episode focuses exclusively on The Avengers, the Joss Whedon extravaganza that unites the recent Marvel movie stars into a single adventure.  With a budget that's estimated at nearly a quarter of a billion dollars, a marketing machine that's been unstoppable over the past few months, and a huge wave of expectations in the hearts of the fans, The Avengers has a high bar to meet. We sit down and talk about why Joss Whedon was the absolute perfect person to direct this ensemble film and how the movie is one of the perfect examples of how to treat a cast filled with high profile names.  We each talk about who our favorite character in the movie was (we agreed) and who we liked least.   Then we pick through the movie piece by piece, finding some of the narrative elements that didn't serve the movie and almost seemed cheap compared to the better parts of Avengers, or even the other Marvel films of the past five years.  We also talk about why leaving out Ant Man in favor of the others was a great move, some of our favorite dialog moments, and a whole lot more.  Does the movie make a great start to the summer season, and do we really talk about The Avengers for almost 90 minutes?  You'll get one answer in the show notes, and the other by listening in! Then we jump into our talk on the summer movie trailers.  Jay caved and watched The Dark Knight Rises trailer, but his excitement is tempered by caution.  Parris is over Spider-Man already but can't wait for Prometheus.  And of course, we talk G.I. Joe 2. We even find out that Parris missed out on one of the greatest film experiences of the 80's.  Can you guess which one it is?  Remember When is a product of friendship and affection.  We love our community and we love movies, and we create this show as our way of sharing that love and appreciation.  Thank you as always to our many fans who support us and help us keep this show going.  To join us in our conversations between shows, follow us on Facebook at http://facebook.com/rwpodcast, or you can email us at rw@filmtangent.com Timestamps: 0:00 - 1:15:00 - The Avengers (spoiler filled) 1:15:00 - End - Summer Movie trailers (some light spoilers)

Remember When is pleased to present a seminal moment in our show roster.  After many episodes of hinting and an unintentional delay of a few months, Parris and Jay are pleased to bring you their unabashed and honest conversation about The Empire Strikes Back. This entire episode is dedicated to our discussion of Irvin Kershner's masterpiece film, and we take a look back at how this movie impacted us in the 80's, how the storyline has changed with us over time, and the new and interesting ways we've viewed the movie at different points in our respective lives.  We give an honest look at the perceived 'perfection' of Empire Strikes Back amongst Star Wars fans and how, in some ways, Episode V is still setting a bar for other Science Fiction films in our modern time.   We go into our separate beliefs on the Special Edition-ization of Empire and, believe it or not, there are actually updates in the SE that we found both worthy and enjoyable! There's chat about 'the big twist' at the end of the movie, how it was originally scripted, and what it would have meant had the original script been fulfilled.  Imagine, if you will, an alternate universe in which Return of the Jedi was 2 full hours of awesomeness.....   ah, what a dream. And speaking of Ewoks, we'll be back with our Jedi podcast soon, but plan to bring you an Avengers-filled extravanganza for our next show.   Although we say it many times in many ways, our shows exists and thrives because we have so many wonderful fans who support us and share in our enthusiasm.  We do this show for you as much as we do it for ourselves, and we continue to thank all of you who tell your friends, family, and loved ones about Remember When.   To keep in touch with us between shows, drop by our Facebook page at http://facebook.com/rwpodcast or leave us an email at rw@filmtangent.com.  We'd love to hear from you!

No, your eyes aren't deceiving you.  We're back with a brand new, fresh episode of Remember When... less than two weeks since the last one!  It may seem like an April Fools Joke but trust us, there's nothing to laugh at here... Well, not unless you count The Hunger Games.  After watching the hit movie, we have some pretty strong opinions we want to voice about how underwhelming of an experience The Hunger Games was, and how we wish there had been a better chance to emotionally connect with the movie and its characters.  This section is filled with spoilers, but if you listen and have the movie ruined for you... we might be doing you a favor. Then we progress into some continued discussions on the upcoming summer movies as we talk about the new trailer for the Total Recall remake, the new Prometheus trailer and our excitement for this new Ridley Scott endeavor (as well as our concerns about it) and Parris' love for Charlize Theron in both Prometheus and the new Snow White Movie We end the show with a discussion on the Walking Dead, Mad Men, and a chat about piracy and the logic behind "cutting the cable cord".  It's a fun and interesting talk. Six months ago, a podcast faded into a quiet slumber, hibernating its way through the slow winter crawl.  Now, two show hosts emerge, bright eyed and bushy tailed, ready to talk about the shows and movies they love.  Remember When is back! We return with a brand new, unscripted show that's recorded on-the-fly as we sit down and catch up on the things we've missed over the past half year.  We discuss the lengthy gap between shows (we're very sorry) and talk about the things in our lives that have kept us focused elsewhere.  But then we dust off our microphones and jump right into the swing of things. And boy, is there a lot to discuss! Walking Dead is coming off its best season ever, Breaking Bad rang our bell (if you know what I mean), Mad Men's about to return... cable TV is on FIRE right now!  And with the summer roster of movies featuring titles like The Amazing Spider-man, The Dark Knight Rises, and Prometheus, 2012 is on track to be one of the best years for pop culture hounds.   Parris has a confession in the episode, and we take the tangents to a new level by walking right out of the Remember When podcast and back into our old UncleGamer chairs. This episode is our way of getting back into the swing of things, and lets us catch up while catching you up as well.  Remember When is a product of love from Jay and Parris.  We do this because we're friends, and our friendship is the podcast.  But we appreciate our listeners as well, and we thank you for the many kind (and a few that were less than kind) letters, emails, and voicemail messages you sent us these past few months.  Having your support enables us to do the show and encourages us to keep doing this. As always, you can find us on Twitter at RWPodcast, on Facebook at http://facebook.com/rwpodcast, and on the web at FilmTangent.com.  Or, if you'd like to leave us feedback, you can call us at 206-495-1732 or email us at rw@filmtangent.com.  Thanks, and enjoy the show! Pew Pew.... Gotcha! A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away... two young, wide-eyed children came across a science-fiction piece that would forever change their lives.  It was called Star Wars: A New Hope. Those two boys, Jay and Parris, would have no idea what wonders this movie might have in store for them, but little did they know that it would also change their lives. This podcast takes an exclusive focus on Episode IV.  We start by talking about how we each were introduced to the series, the ways it shaped our childhood, and how it turned us into die-hard fans.  Our conversation rolls through the entire progression of the movie, with each of us talking about our favorite scene from the original, and how the movie has held up over time. Towards the end of the podcast, we talk about the "evolution" of A New Hope (and we use the term as loosely as possible) as it has been through wave after wave of changes.  We look at the Special Edition update and how it actually manages to serve a good purpose for A New Hope in particular, and lament the loss of Han Solo's backbone.  We also talk about our disappointment in the recent Blu-ray releases, and how George Lucas might just be one of the most brilliant business men of all time. If you're an RSS subscriber, either through a Feed Reader or through iTunes, Zune, or some other podcast downloader, you'll find a special bonus download waiting for you!  Episode 44B was recorded immediately after our A New Hope episode, and talks exclusively about "new" stuff. Jay talks about his adventures and disappointments working through a back log of Breaking Bad, we talk about the fourth season of True Blood, the miasma of disappointment that was Torchwood: Miracle Day, and how Optimus Prime is now a heartless assassin as a result of Transformers 3.  This bonus podcast comes out to roughly 30 minutes of material, produced exclusively for our fans.  Thank you so much for your patience during our hiatuses.   As always, we thank our fans for their continued support and appreciation of the podcast.  It's because of your kind words and well wishes that we continue to do this podcast as a labor of love.  If you'd like to leave us feedback, please feel free to give us a shout at our email address, or leave us a voicemail at 206-495-1732 (long distance charges may apply).  You can also join our Facebook group at Facebook.com/RWPodcast for up-to-the-minute information on our podcast releases, a first look at our upcoming live recording sessions, and to communicate with us and your fellow Remember When fans in between shows.  You can also follow us on Twitter at Twitter.com/RWPodcast.

Fresh from the archives of Cardiff, Remember When dusts itself off for a brand new episode.  We're returning to the Doctor Who-niverse for one more round, with Episode 43 focusing on Torchwood.  Parris and Jay talk about how they were introduced to the show, their impressions of the show's content during their first viewing, and how the show has held up in our respective opinions since then.  We talk about the good fortune that led us through the muck of Series 1, why we like Series 2 despite its failings, and go into a deep dive on which characters and storylines we enjoyed.  You might be surprised to find that one of us actually even enjoyed Tosh by the end of the show! We also hold a very deep dive into Children of Earth, the miniseries that served as our last look into the Special Forces branch.  This five episode series came about after a series of budget cuts, casting issues, and story problems, and we each offer commentary on how Children of Earth changed our ever-shaping opinions of Torchwood... for better or worse. At the end, we have an unscheduled (but welcome) tangent into the state of sitcoms on TV on the current schedule.  Spoilers for Parks & Recreation are pretty heavy, along with a few minor ones for Modern Family, so be warned.  We also talk about our upcoming plans for the Original Trilogy episodes of Star Wars, how we'll be approaching them, and some of the TLC we're spreading on those recordings in order to make sure we provide you with some of the best episodes of Remember When. You can also join our Facebook group for up-to-the-minute information on our podcast releases, a first look at our upcoming live recording sessions, and to communicate with us and your fellow Remember When fans in between shows.  Check it out at http://facebook.com/rwpodcast.  You can also follow us on Twitter at twitter.com/rwpodcast. It's the TARDIS' fault.  She kept us from recording a podcast earlier by trapping us in an alternate dimension.  Thanks to a little Time Lord ingenuity and a paper clip, Remember When is back on course with our long awaited, often discussed Doctor Who episode. Dedicated entirely to the Man From Gallifrey, Episode 42 talks about Doctor Who as it's existed in the past 7 years.  We look back at the eras of Eccleston and Tennant and talk about their respective runs, why we love Tennant, and why Eccleston pales in comparison.  Jay and Parris both discuss their respective introductions to the show, and how they came to regard it as they binged on some of the better sci-fi from across the pond. Covering Series 1 through 4 and the final specials of David Tennant, this podcast is spoiler-laden and covers a wide range of topics.  We look back at the definitive moments when we loved the Doctor, rank the companions in terms of most awesome to least awesome (and hottest to Rose), give each season a score, and talk about what it was like to come into this show.  After a legacy that's run nearly half a century long, our only regret is that we wish we'd had more time to talk about Doctor Who.  There are dozens of other topics we'd love to have discussed. After a long winter's night, Remember When is back again for more retro-style goodness.   Since our hiatus lasted a little longer than we would have liked, we're temporarily tabling the Doctor Who / Torchwood episodes to get back into some of the original Remember When formula.  We start off with a look back at TRON.  The original 1982 Disney film is a cult classic, and serves as the latest "Great Movie Jay Has Never Seen".  With fresh eyes and an open mind, Jay sits down and talks about what he liked about the movie, why he thinks TRON sucks, and his thoughts behind what a 7 year old version of himself would have thought about TRON. Then we jump into our discussion on TRON: Legacy.  As the big budget follow-up approaches the 300 million dollar mark at the box office, Parris and Jay sit down at their microphones and roll up their sleeves as they go head-to-head with their opinions on the sequel.  Can a huge marketing budget and crazy special effects work save this movie?  We talk about what works, what fails, and why Disney should never force a TRON movie to be a Big Lebowski sequel. The last half of the show is a catch-up on all of our film and TV related tangents, with chatter about the mid-season TV schedule.  Parris admits he was wrong about a TV show, Jay admits that Parris was right about a TV show, and we rave about the brilliance of Ricky Gervais.  Maybe a little too much. The last few minutes of the show include a detailed look at the roster of shows coming in the first half of 2011.  If you've been complaining that we haven't done enough "Remember When" stuff in our podcast, then you're in for a treat.  We're preparing some MAJOR shows that will dive deep into some of the best movies of the 70's and 80's. Because The Walking Dead hasn't aired yet, we've divided the show into three separate segments.  First, we give you a spoiler-free look at the initial pair of episodes, giving you a detailed look at why we love the first two hours of The Walking Dead without ruining any of the story details for you.   After that, we jump into a spoiler-filled discussion on Days Gone By, the pilot episode of The Walking Dead.  We talk about our reactions to the initial offering, what we think worked well, and what could have improved.   Then we end the show talking about Guts, the second hour of The Walking Dead.  This is an amazing piece of television and one of the best hours of TV we've seen this year.  Listen in for all the spoiler-filled details. We want to thank AMC for giving us this unique opportunity to preview The Walking Dead before its official air date.  It's through their support that we were able to present an episode like this.   Don’t forget to join our Facebook group!  It lets you keep up to date with the show in between our podcast releases, gives you the first look at our upcoming live recording sessions, and allows you to communicate with us and your fellow Remember When fans in between shows.  Check it out at http://facebook.com/rwpodcast.  You can also follow us on Twitter at http://twitter.com/rwpodcast. After an unintentional hiatus due to real life, we're pleased to bring you the glorious return of the Remember When podcast! Although we promised you a Doctor Who & Torchwood episode, we're pushing that off slightly.  At the top of the show, we explain why we're postponing our venture into the realm of British sci-fi, and why the delay means better things for our listeners. We spend the rest of Episode 39 talking about our views on other TV shows, both spectacular and spectacularly bad.  First up, we cover the third season of True Blood.  With the series finale airing last month, we look back at the season overall and discuss the elements we loved, the pieces that failed miserably, and what we think needs to be fixed before Alan Ball and the cast and crew start working on the fourth season. Then we take a long awaited dive into the deep end of Mad Men.  Jay's finally caught up with the show, and as AMC puts the fourth season to bed, we take a comprehensive look into the first few years of the show, talk about Jay's experiences with getting invested in this AMC marvel, and Parris' viewpoints on the complexities of the Draper family, and why they're so fascinating to watch.  We talk about some of the unsung heroes of the show, our favorite moments, and why this can be a tough sell for new viewers. We spend the last 30 minutes of the show working our way through the Fall season.  It's been a lamentable slate of releases over the past few months, with early cancellations and very few stand out shows.  We talk about why this Fall TV season seems like one of the worst in recent history, some of the early standouts for us, and more.  We also discuss the remainder of episodes for Remember When in 2010, and the Big Movies we're tackling at the start of 2011. Remember When is back, and shinier than ever!   In our latest episode, we talk about Joss Whedon's Firefly and the feature film follow-up, Serenity.  A cult phenomenon that lasted a mere 14 episodes (3 of which weren't aired in the original run), this show holds a special place in the hearts of Jay and Parris. We kick off by discussing how the two of us were introduced to this legendary series, and talk about how a simple TV show turned us from enthusiastic fans into Browncoats (and what it means to be a Browncoat).  And after a fresh viewing of the entire TV run, we take a look at which episodes are our favorite, which ones will end up crumbling over time, and remark at how extraordinary it is that so many of the episodes hold up over time.  We even give you our selections for favorite and least favorite episodes. Then we jump into the Serenity feature film.  Both of us followed this piece of cinema joy as it progressed through creation, seeing it several times in pre-release fashion before it even hit the mass market.  You won't believe how many times Jay saw the movie in total!   Serenity was a moment of beauty for both Parris and Jay, and we talk about some of our favorite scenes, pieces of dialog that tickled us, and what makes this such a spectacle to behold. And hey, even in our Firefly-centric episode, we have a few tangents.  Fortunately though, we saved those until the end, so if you're not a fan of True Blood, you can skip right past it.   We close our show with a BIG BIG ANNOUNCEMENT that will be the first big step for Remember When's future.  This is something you won't want to miss.   As always, Remember When continues to grow and thrive thanks to the joy, love, appreciation, and comments we get from our fans. As we zip through the Los Angeles freeway system, we talk about our initial reactions to "Bad Blood", the Season 3 opener for True Blood.  The return of Sookie, Team Bill, Team Eric, LaFayette, and Tara has been something we've both been eagerly anticipating, and we talk about what worked in the episode, what fell flat, where the show missed an opportunity, and how much fun we had.   Then we tangent off as Jay confesses to Parris about a deep, dark, dirty secret from his Ireland trip. We wrap up the show with a mini-homage to our old UncleGamer days as we talk briefly about video games and what we saw during the first day of press conferences at the Electronic Entertainment Expo, what we're looking forward to, and the things we're most excited about as we prepare to set foot in the convention halls of this year's E3. This episode is presented in its raw and uncut format, recorded on-the-fly as we're sitting in a car together, giving you a chance to listen in on us during one of our normal conversations without any editing or adjustments to the recording.  As a result, you may notice a little more naughty language than usual, but we do our best to put it to good effect.  Mostly.  ;) Don't forget to join our Facebook group!  It lets you keep up to date with the show in between our podcast releases, gives you the first look at our upcoming live recording sessions, and allows you to communicate with us and your fellow Remember When fans in between shows.  Check it out at http://facebook.com/rwpodcast As always, Remember When continues to grow and thrive thanks to the joy, love, appreciation, and comments we get from our fans. After six years of living together, LOST moved into the afterlife this past weekend.  And with the show's closure, we're proud to give you our Farewell to LOST. We take a look back at the show's final 2 and a half hours, looking at the finale episode with a fresh viewpoint, clear heart, and an open mind.   Can a show like LOST be wrapped up in a 2 hour story?  Will we find the closure we wanted or needed?  And most importantly, was it worth it?  We talk about what we loved with the finale and what we didn't enjoy. Then we go back in time, looking at the course of the show's history.  We talk about why LOST was important when it started, how significant it was in TV history, and what it meant for the landscape of television programming over the next few years.  We also talk about some of our favorite scenes, our most missed characters, and why Nikki and Paulo are still better off dead, even from a Sideways perspective. Lastly, we give you a look at the upcoming Remember When schedule.  Even if you're not a LOST fan and you hate when we talk about it, you don't want to miss our next two show topics.  At least one of them will be epic. As the 80's saying goes, Fair is Fair. In light of this, we're happy to bring you another episode of Remember When. This week, our featured discussion is Heathers.  Chosen by our Facebook fans in a poll this week, Heather is the latest in Great Movies That Jay Has Never Seen, but it's also brand new to Parris as well!  We sit down and talk about the general reception of the movie, what we think of Christian Slater in one of his earliest performances, and talk about the mix of dark comedy and over the top violence.  Jay waxes philosophically about the parallels between the movie and The Catcher in the Rye, Parris feels let down by some elements of the movie, and the ghost of Christian Slater's 80's hairdo comes back from the dead to strike at the podcast.  We also tangent into 80's High School Movies in general, and how Heathers compares and contrasts against some of the greats, like Ferris Bueller's Day Off and The Breakfast Club. Then we jump into the latest news in TV cancellations, talking about FlashForward and Heroes.  Both programs were axed by their respective networks this week, and we talk about why we're OK with these decisions, what we think about the peril of investing in a mediocre show for too long, and how some of these decisions may affect our long term viewing habits. We also have a few things to say about LOST, with a couple of minor spoilers... but you'll have to wait until the end of the show for the surprise. After a two month hiatus to focus on bringing a new life into the world, Remember When is proud to be back on your iPods, Zunes, and computers! We kick off the show by continuing our Scorsese edition of Great Movies Jay Has Never Seen.  Released in 1995 and featuring an all-star cast, Parris previously stated that he expected Jay to like Casino, but not as much as he loved Goodfellas.  Will the prognostications of Parris prove poignant, or will Jay dislike this film?  We sit and talk about the joys of Scorsese's direction, the writing pace, and the stellar performance of Sharon Stone. Then we kick into higher gear as we talk about the lead-in to the 2010 Summer movie season, Iron Man 2.  Robert Downey Jr. is back, but is his red suit still firing on all thrusters?  Did the sequel rise above the quality of the original for Jay and Parris, or was this just a so-so offering that could have been better?   And most importantly, how awesome is Scarlett Johansson in tight clothes?   We give you a spoiler-heavy look at Iron Man 2, covering what we liked, what we didn't like, and more. Finally, we jump into our continuing discussion on LOST.  As ABC's hit show draws closer to its finish line, we talk about our increased disappointment over events in the show, the diminished impact of the show's writing, and what we think could have been improved.  We also talk about our theories for the show's ending, what we would have liked to see happen, and theorize on what contributed to the collapse of this show's universe. No, your eyes aren't deceiving you.  This really IS a brand new episode of the Remember When show, and our third consecutive show in as many weeks! It's a Gangster's Paradise in Episode 30, as we pull double duty in this week's segment of "Great Movies Jay Has Never Seen".  Our first feature film is Johnny Dangerously, the 1984 gangster movie spoof starring Michael Keaton and Joe Piscopo.  Written by the same scribe that brought us Fast Times at Ridgemont High, Look Who's Talking, and Night at the Roxbury, Johnny Dangerously is a farging awesome comedy in Parris' mind.  But will Jay find an appreciation for a comedy that's over a quarter of a century old? Then we dive into our second film of the week, Goodfellas.  Recognized by the AFI as one of the greatest movies of all time, Jay braces himself for a 2 hour journey into one of his least favorite genres of film while Parris braces himself for Jay's feedback on the movie. We also take a look back at this past week's episode of LOST.  "Lighthouse" deals with the journey of two characters as they race to save the island, but that's the only real fast-paced action we see in this week's episode.  Parris compares the show's sixth season to the Sopranos finale, we talk about our misgivings with the Sideways Universe, and discuss our most feared potential ending for the show. We also talk a bit about Ricky Gervais' comedy brilliance, and Parris needs the paramedics after Jay surprises him with some unexpected news. A huge thanks to all the people that have joined our Facebook group over the past week!  If you haven't joined us yet, check us out at http://facebook.com/rwpodcast.  You can keep up to date on the latest happenings with the podcast, chat with fellow listeners, and catch our thoughts on movies and TV shows in between podcast releases. Two episodes in one week?  No, you're not hallucinating.  After a mere seven days since our last release, we're proud to bring you Episode 29 of Remember When! We kick off the show with the latest in Great Movies Jay Has Never Seen.  John Carpenter's "The Thing" is a cult classic, and one of the best performances that Kurt Russell has ever turned in over the course of his career.   But between the blood and guts and the Wilford Brimley appearance, will Jay be able to find his moment of sci-fi / horror zen?   Then we move into current events with a recap of this week's episode of LOST.  As the final season continues with "What Kate Does", we lament what this episode didn't do, talk about where our frustrations lie, and continue to offer our predictions for how the series will end. We even have a full 20 minute segment of tangents at the end.  What good would our show be without them? It's Super Bowl Sunday, and regardless of who you're rooting for, we can all agree that a new episode of Remember When is just what the Doctor ordered!  So kick off your day with Episode 28, and enjoy a fresh episode of movie geek goodness! Our show starts off with a look back at a classic adventure movie from the 80's, The Goonies.  Starring Sean Astin, Josh Brolin, and Corey Feldman, this classic piece of cinema from Richard Donner is our first discussion.  We talk about what we loved about the movie when we were kids, how well the movie's aged over time, and whether or not it's still relevant in today's society. Then we jump into Heat.  This bank heist drama from Michael Mann is the latest entry in Great Movies Jay Has Never Seen.  Not so much a movie as a long-term cinematic commitment, Heat features an all star ensemble cast, an incredible shoot out sequence, and Val Kilmer with a mullet.  But with a three hour run time, Jay's willingness to invest is put to the test, and after the first hour, his brain shuts off. Finally, we discuss the long-awaited, greatly anticipated return of LOST.  The season premiere whetted our appetites for more Island goodness, and we talk about temporal mechanics, alternate dimensions, and parallel coincidences.   Oh, and butt-nekkid Juliet, as well.    Our show is now on Twitter! Be sure and follow RWPodcast for the latest information on the show, including details on our live recordings where you can interact and participate with us while we capture the show. It's 2010, so put aside whatever you're doing and resolve to listen to a brand new episode of Remember When! Our subtitle for this episode is "Great stuff Parris has never seen" Episode 27 kicks off with our the discussion on The Abyss. James Cameron's big budget release from 1989 was high tech at the time, but it turns out that Parris has never seen it! We take a look back at the film, which featured revolutionary special effects at the time of its release, plus a cast featuring such notable talents as Ed Harris and Michael Biehn. Does this undersea adventure hold up over time? Will a two decade span have killed the impact of this movie? Listen in and find out. Then we move on to Cameron's latest hit, Avatar. With a billion dollars under its belt, critical and public acclaim, and the beginning of a new era for 3-D, we stop and ask... is this any good? Does the movie hold up under scrutiny? We cap off the show with yet another piece of pop culture Parris has never seen. After months of suggesting it, Big P sat down and watched the introductory episode to the legendary British show, Doctor Who. The Angels have the Blue Box, and Parris has a lot to say about this time travel extravaganza. As the turkey brings your body to a sleepy conclusion on Thanksgiving, why not relax and unwind with the latest episode of Remember When?  Our Arnold Schwarzenegger series continues in Episode 26, as we sit down and reminisce about The Running Man.  The Governator goes head to head against the ultimate pimp of game shows, giving us one of the cheesiest pieces of 80's film you could ever imagine.  Next, Jay takes a look at Predator, another fine piece of cinema he's never been exposed to before.  Two governors go head to head against an extraterrestrial poacher that leaves a stream of bodies in its wake.  A veritable cult classic, Jay looks on with fresh eyes at one of the more notable Arnie movies. Will he enjoy it in the spirit it's offered, or declare that its expiration date has long past? Then we tangent off as Parris takes a look back on a recent movie, giving it a renewed opinion now that he's taken away a home viewing.  The resulting conversation nearly has Jay falling over in shock.  You might hear us referencing a piece of reading material.  You can find out all about it at this link:  http://trekweb.com/stbbs/showThread.php?bid=FldwoPP0qETo2&tid=4b0864bb15219&cid=4b0864bb159ec&viewby=&sort=&order=#4b0864bb159ecAnd speaking of tangents, we end the show with yet another "brief" spoiler-rich discussion of the fall TV season, talking about Parris' new favorite comedy, Jay's critical disappointments, and counting down to the return of an old favorite. As always, Remember When continues to grow and thrive thanks to the joy, love, appreciation, and comments we get from our fans.  If you enjoy our show, please leave us positive feedback on iTunes.  We really appreciate it, plus it helps us reach people that have never heard of us!  And if you'd like to share your thoughts with us, you can send us an email at feedback@talkingaboutgames.com or leave us a voicemail at 206-495-1732.  Please note, long distance charges may apply.
