Dan Baker, currently in his 51st season as the Philadelphia Phillies' public address announcer, joins the show today! Baker shares the story of his hiring by Bill Giles, aspects of his craft, his recent health issues and goals for the future (Hint: only two other PA announcers have served their MLB organizations longer...). Baker's tenure with the Phillies has included six World Series (1980, 1983, 1993, 2008, 2009 & 2022) and two All-Star Games (1976 & 1996). He has also worked professionally as the Philadelphia Eagles' PA announcer (1985-2014) including 3 NFC Championship Games (2002, 2003 & 2004) and for many years with Philadelphia Big 5 basketball & Drexel Men's basketball among other endeavors. Baker has spent his entire life in the Tri-State Area (born in Philadelphia, grew up in Mt. Hill is the son of Philadelphia Police Officer Edwenna Ferguson. Candidate for United States Senate Kathy Barnette joins the show to discuss the results of The Trafalgar Group’s latest polling. Polling now indicates Barnette is now only a few points behind Dr. Mehmet Oz and Dave McCormick—despite spending millions of dollars less than her primary rivals. The U.S. Senate Pennsylvania primary is May 17th, 2022. Legendary Philadelphia radio personality Sid Mark passed away on Tuesday. He was 88 years old. The federal bribery trial of Philadelphia City Councilmember Kenyatta Johnson has ended in a mistrial. Despite deliberating for 4-days, jurors were not able to arrive at a unanimous decision. Prosecutors have already vowed to retry the case. According to a CBS3 news report, the rising cost of fruits and vegetables is making it difficult for consumers to eat healthy. The U.S. Department of Agriculture has predicted that the price of fresh produce will increase by 4.5% by the end of 2022.

Herb Magee, the Hall of Fame coach at Division II Thomas Jefferson University has announced that he will retire at the end of the 2021-2022 season, his 54th as head coach. Magee, inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in 2011, has 1,123 career wins, second all-time in men's college basketball history behind only Duke's Mike Krzyzewski. Magee has been at the school in one role or another since 1959. First he was a star player for the Rams, scoring 2,235 points, good for third all-time in program history. Then he spent four seasons as an assistant before taking over as the head coach at then Philadelphia Textile in 1967. Magee's longtime assistant Jimmy Reilly will take over the program as head coach after the season. Adam & Aaron celebrate the 30th anniversary of Michael Jordan's second season in the National Basketball Association. This episode covers: - NBA regular season - December 24, 1985, through January 7, 1986 - Insightful minutiae, all but lost to the annals of basketball history In this episode, we discuss numerous happenings from the next 15-day block of the 1985-86 NBA season. The Chicago Bulls played six games in this span – three wins and three losses. Legendary Philadelphia 76ers Public Address Announcer, Dave Zinkoff, passed away on Christmas Day. Julius Erving remained in Philadelphia to attend the funeral. We discuss his touching eulogy that honored his great friend. We chat about Michael Jordan's plaster cast - it was removed, just after Christmas, allowing him to increase his rehabilitation efforts. Newspapers suggested his on-court return would likely be February 1, 1986. However, Jordan's first game back wouldn't be until March 15. In other NBA news, future Hall of Famer, Jamaal Wilkes, announced his retirement. George Gervin, praising the skills of opponent, Darryl Dawkins, quoted a line from a Memorex advertisement, popular in its day.
