Demond Wilson--best-known for his role as Lamont Sanford in the 70's sitcom "Sanford & Son"-- graciously joined the program in January 2019, just a few months into the Tim DeMoss Show's existence. With his homegoing at age 79 this past weekend, we re-aired that conversation in its entirety today. Wilson was funny, serious, godly, insightful--and kept TIm on his toes the entire time :). Wilson began by indirectly referencing the recently-missed double doink field goal attempt by former Eagle Cody Parkey (as the Birds hung on for a 16-15 playoff win v the Bears). Over the rest of the show, he shared about his acting career, comedy, Sanford & Son and his relationship with Redd Foxx, thoughts on the military (in which he served 1966-1968), his wife and their (at the time) 45-year marriage, being a father, and his faith in the Lord (as well as a project he was working on at the time). Psalm 90:10 comes to mind initially: "The length of our days is seventy years--or eighty, if we have the strength." Even moreso, John 14:1-4 provides much hope: "Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me. 2 In my Father's house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. 4 You know the way to the place where I am going." We also touch on Steve's musical career including his classic "Meltdown (At Madame Tussaud's)", artists he has written for/produced, and the influence of his dad and mom. Tim grew up loving Steve's brand of alternative/punk rock--full of energy & witty lyrics, packed with meaning and way ahead of their time--frequently tackling difficult subjects head-on, challenging people (often the within the church) without making himself the center of attention, if such a thing is possible. Examples include "I Want To Be A Clone," "(We Don't Need No) Color Code," "Lifeboat," "I Blew Up The Clinic Real Good," "What Is The Measure of Your Success?," and "Bannerman," among a trove of others. Taylor also directed many music videos for his songs (and other artists) and wrote/collaborated with a number of artists including newsboys. As a record label executive, he was very involved with Chevelle, Leigh Bingham Nash & Sixpence None The Richer (including their worldwide smash "Kiss Me", Burlap to Cashmere & L.A. Symphony.
