Anneke Lucas was born in Belgium and faced unimaginable trauma from a young age. At just six years old, she was tragically sold by her mother into a trafficking network that catered to European elites. Before this, Anneke experienced abuse at the hands of her family's cleaning lady, who later conspired with a relative to traffic her into an exclusive club where disturbing events took place. For years, Anneke endured severe abuse and torture, silenced by fear after witnessing the tragic fate of other victims. By the time she was 12, Anneke had survived some of the most horrific experiences imaginable. As a young adult, she lived in London, Paris, and New York before eventually settling in Los Angeles, where she began her healing journey through therapy, yoga, and meditation. Today, Anneke is the founder and Executive Director of Liberation Prison Yoga, a New York-based non-profit dedicated to supporting survivors. As a vocal advocate, she bravely shares her story—a powerful testament to resilience, hope, and the strength to heal. In this conversation, we delve into Anneke's journey and the valuable lessons it offers.Chapters:0:00 - Introduction to Healing & Trauma Recovery 2:25 - Overcoming the Biggest Challenges in the Healing Journey8:15 - Anneke Lucas Opens Up About Her Story (Trigger Warning)18:40 - Understanding Traumatic Memories & Healing Techniques25:15 - Navigating Friendships After Trauma: Key Insights33:45 - Rebuilding Love & Trust After Trauma: A Step-by-Step Guide44:42 - How Parents Can Support Children Through Trauma Awareness51:00 - The Role of Media in Raising Awareness About CSA1:06:10 - The Impact of Censorship1:16:03 - Creating Global Awareness: Systematic Change for Trauma Advocacy → CONTACT ANNEKE LUCAS ON SOCIAL MEDIA ←"Quest for Love" in Canada: https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B0B4FV3982?ref_=ast_author_ofdp In the US: https://www.amazon.com/Quest-Love-Memoir-Child-Slave/dp/B0B4FV3982WEBSITE: https://annekelucas.com/X: https://x.com/AnnekeLucas FB https://www.facebook.com/AnnekeLucas2/ IG: https://www.instagram.com/anneke.lucas/Telegram @anneke_lucas #humantraffickingawareness #childabuseawareness #childabuseawareness
Anneke Lucas was born in Belgium, where she was sold into a sex trafficking ring at age 6. Her rescue from the ring and subsequent journey of healing led her to New York and Los Angeles where she completed the MFA Screenwriting Program at the American Film Institute in 1992. Today, I'm honored to have on the show: SRA, mind control and sex trafficking survivor and survivor advocate, writer and author of the book, “Quest for Love: Memoir of a Child Sex Slave”, podcast host and content creator, blogger, yoga instructor, educator, entrepreneur and creator of ‘The Unconditional Model' and ‘Liberation Prison Yoga', and one of the most requested guests I've had on ‘The Imagination': Anneke LucasAnneke experienced the greatest of darkness in childhood through a series of events that led to her being groomed and eventually sold into sex trafficking, satanic ritual abuse, and trauma-based mind-control behavioral modification programming by her mother. After breaking free from the pedophile network that was trafficking her, Anneke courageously decided to place her entire adult life in the context of trauma recovery. Her 35+ year healing journey included much yoga and therapy. In 2008, she started teaching yoga, and in 2012, began training and organizing yoga teachers to enter into the New York Prisons, which led to the founding and directing of the non-profit organization Liberation Prison Yoga. Sharing yoga in the prisons, the Unconditional Model was developed. Since 2014, Anneke has led many workshops - training therapists, yoga teachers and others in the Unconditional Model. She travels the world to share her story and teach, including a 10-week online Unconditional Model course “Shifting the Power.” Anneke has a private coaching practice where she sees many survivors of extreme abuse, and also hosts peer support platforms online. She currently has a workshop coming up on June 4th - 5th that I'm really excited to talk about today, and her book, “Quest For Love: Memoir of a Child Sex Slave” is currently available for sale in America on Amazon through her website. I will have all of her links in the show notes. Anneke's courage to shine a light on the darkness she experienced as a child has inspired many throughout the years to share their own stories and to not feel so alone, and her work with therapists and in prisons cannot be understated as these are two areas in desperate need of education on trauma and recovery. Anneke naming her workshops ‘Shifting the Power' couldn't be more appropriate as she is a living example of shifting the power from dark to light. I'm grateful to have Anneke here and ask that you all grab a pen and paper and give her your full attention. Before I finish introducing today's guest, I just wanted to give a quick reminder to email me at imagineabetterworld2020@gmail.com if you'd like to be on the podcast and to Subscribe to my new Substack at www.emmakatherine.substack.com.
