From the Bronx to 17 years of boots-on-the-ground relationships across Latin America, Stephanie Pimentel shares the workforce governance, cultural alignment, and regulatory pitfalls that quietly cost U.S. companies millions in cross-border deals, and the proprietary audit system she built to catch them before capital is deployed. In this episode of the DealQuest Podcast, host Corey Kupfer sits down with Stephanie Pimentel, founder and CEO of Lumena Global Advisory, a boutique firm specializing in Latin American market entry, cross-border workforce strategy, and expansion risk management. With an executive background in multinational operations and human capital leadership, she has advised U.S. companies, private equity groups, and growth-stage founders on structuring compliant, scalable operations across Mexico, Colombia, Brazil, and beyond. WHAT YOU'LL LEARN: Why treating Latin America as a single market is one of the most expensive assumptions a company can make. How workforce governance and cultural misalignment destroy deal value after close. Why standard due diligence falls short for cross-border transactions. How a single misclassified hire in Brazil can trigger a $250,000 government charge per employee. Why an employer of record is a testing tool, not a long-term strategy. And how to assess whether your leadership team is actually ready to execute across borders. STEPHANIE'S JOURNEY: Stephanie grew up in the Bronx and started her career as an HR coordinator at $11.75 an hour in New York. She moved into telecommunications, then logistics, where work with ports pulled her into cross-border trade. Over the next 17 years she built direct relationships across Latin America at every level, sitting down with CEOs and spending time with people running daily operations on the ground. That range of experience, combined with degrees in human resource management and forensic psychology, shaped a perspective most advisors in the space do not have. KEY INSIGHTS: Latin America is not one market. Legal structures for hiring differ dramatically between Mexico, Brazil, Chile, and Argentina, and applying a uniform approach creates compliance gaps before operations even begin. Culture is an operational variable. As Stephanie puts it, "Culture is how decisions get made when no one's watching." Cultural friction begins while the ink is still wet, drives up turnover, and burns capital before it shows on any spreadsheet. Brazil's hiring penalties are severe. A misclassified hire triggers government fees of $250,000 per employee, including mandatory benefits like a lunch stipend that do not exist in the U.S. framework. Standard due diligence is not enough. Latin America requires what Stephanie calls "due diligence on the due diligence." Domestic processes do not surface what matters in each specific country, and that gap closes only after the deal is signed. Expansion readiness has four components: financial strength, operating system robustness, compliance maturity, and leadership team readiness. Strong financials without a prepared leadership team are not enough. Smaller companies can and should expand internationally. Stabilize domestic revenue first, document your operating model, and expand in layers rather than leaps. Perfect for business owners considering Latin American expansion, operators managing post-acquisition integration across borders, and advisors working on international transactions. This episode is brought to you by Good with Money, a free 3-day experience that will help you shift how you relate to money so it actually supports the life you're building. If you're tired of feeling like you have to hold it all together financially, this is where you learn how to create both the internal alignment and the systems to feel steady and supported. ✨ About This Season: The Anatomy of Alignment This season of Redefining Wealth is dedicated to unpacking what alignment really means — not as a buzzword, but as structure. We're dissecting how misalignment impacts each of the Six Pillars of Wealth — FIT, PEOPLE, SPACE, FAITH, WORK, and MONEY — and what it truly costs when we tolerate what drains us. Each episode builds on the last. So subscribe and journey with us as we move from awakening… to redefining… to actualizing. Episode Summary In this week's episode, Patrice sits down with financial wellness expert and author Sahirenys Pierce for a conversation that goes far beyond budgeting. Together, they explore what it means to create a money system that is not just practical, but deeply aligned with the life you actually want to live. Sahirenys shares how growing up as a first-generation Dominican American shaped her relationship with money. After watching her family repeatedly lose everything during economic downturns — including their home, cars, and sense of peace — she realized that financial trauma does not just impact bank accounts. It changes how we make decisions, what we believe is possible, and how safe we feel planning for the future. This conversation highlights the difference between reacting from fear and responding with intention. Patrice and Sahirenys unpack how many of us make money decisions from survival mode, whether that means choosing careers purely for security, avoiding financial structure, or believing that loss is inevitable. But alignment invites something different: systems that support peace, margin, and presence. Sahirenys also introduces her High 5 Banking Method, a simple but powerful framework for organizing money with purpose. This episode is a reminder that money management is not about restriction. It is about creating the infrastructure that allows you to be present for what matters most, prepared for life's realities, and positioned for the vision you say you desire. Questions to Ask Yourself: Am I currently managing money from fear or from intention? What financial patterns in my life were shaped by survival, loss, or instability? Do I have a system that supports both emergencies and opportunities? What would it look like for my finances to fully align with the life I say I want? Where in my money life do I need more structure so I can experience more peace? Want to Redefine Wealth for Yourself? Start Here:

Meski's own background has brought even more variety to the cuisine at his restaurant, which is German's first in San Francisco.German discussed his culinary journey and shared how his cuisine has evolved over the years.
In slow fashion, we like being intentional with our clothing choices. We want our wardrobes to be aligned with what we care about and how we live. It is a reassuring kind of intention. Then there is another type of intention that affects fashion founders – the way we intend things to go. We have intentions for the launch, product development timelines, or what it means to be a good founder. But as anyone who has started a business knows, things don't always go quite as intended. So how do we balance intention and reality? In episode 126, ARIMMA founder Lucielle Salomon shares how she moved past her assumptions about what it means to be a founder and finally launched her brand. Through the process, she now sees fashion in a new light. Lucielle Salomon is a Dominican-American founder, fashion editor and storyteller advocating for a slower, more soulful approach to style and business. With a background in journalism and a sharp editorial eye, she blends thoughtful design with meaningful storytelling, inviting her audience to dress with intention, find beauty in the everyday and redefine what success looks like through a values-first lens. She is the founder of ARIMMA, an on-demand women's wear brand rooted in romantic silhouettes, timeless details and environmental responsibility. Every piece is crafted only after it's ordered—minimizing waste, reducing overproduction and creating space for clothing to be made with care. ARIMMA designs use natural or low-impact materials and are constructed with durability, emotion and longevity in mind. Through her Substack newsletter, Woven Letters, and growing digital platforms, Lucielle shares a curated blend of sustainable fashion finds, emerging brands, and everyday rituals—from what she's wearing to how she's slowing down. As a mother of two, she also explores the intersection of creativity, motherhood and entrepreneurship, offering a rare behind-the-scenes look at building a conscious business without burning out. Lucielle is available for interviews, panels, collaborations, and essays that explore the future of fashion, identity-driven entrepreneurship and intentional living. This episode explores: Fitting the customer How Lucielle follows feelings, not trends with her designs The part of development that was the biggest challenge for Lucielle Fitting the lifestyle What Lucielle would do differently now if she was starting over How our mindset can hinder or help us in entrepreneurship What Lucielle thought a good founder lifestyle should look like and why that didn't work for her Why Lucielle didn't go all out for the launch Fitting the values How becoming a founder changed what Lucielle values about fashion Why Lucielle reached out to factories before she even had designs People and resources mentioned in this episode: Arimma website Arimma Instagram Lucielle's Instagram Do you want fashion business tips and resources like this sent straight to your inbox? Penny and Roberto talk about the importance of vulnerability, especially as a Black Dominican man, and why sharing our authentic stories can be both an act of courage and inspiration for others. They explore the structure of Blue Ink Tears, breaking down the emotional spectrum behind its three sections—blue, ink, and tears—and why it was important for him to create a collection that's both memoir and poetry, reaching readers on multiple levels. Throughout their conversation, Roberto shares poems that open windows into his life, from celebrating love and family, to confronting pain and navigating complicated relationships within our educational systems. They discuss the challenges and rewards of putting personal work into the world and why storytelling—our own and our community's—matters so much. Listen as they unpack the stories, the struggles, and the hope behind Blue Ink Tears, and why Roberto believes everyone's voice deserves to be heard. Whether you're an educator, a student, a poet, or simply someone searching for meaning, this conversation is sure to leave you inspired to put your own truth down on the page.

In the realm of creativity, the bonds we forge with others can be as significant as the artistic expressions we create. The recent episode of the More Than Graphics podcast, hosted by Danielle, Priscilla, and their guest Francesca, delved into the theme of sisterhood—a topic that resonates deeply within the tech and creative industries, particularly for women and minorities. Through their discussion, it became evident that sisterhood not only fosters a sense of belonging but also serves as a catalyst for creativity and meaningful connections.Sisterhood, as articulated by the hosts, is more than just a supportive network; it is a powerful force that nurtures individual and collective creativity. The hosts shared their personal reflections on sisterhood, drawing inspiration from cultural references such as the "Yaya Sisterhood." This connection to shared experiences and cultural narratives underscores the importance of community in the creative process. When women come together, they create a safe space where ideas can flourish, and vulnerabilities can be shared without fear of judgment. This environment encourages experimentation and innovation, essential components of creativity.[00:01:03] Sisterhood in the Yaya Sisterhood.[00:07:21] Female support systems in life.[00:09:08] Healing relationships with women.[00:14:30] Dominican-American sisterhood and identity.[00:20:22] Female relationships and their challenges.[00:22:31] Exploring femininity and connection.[00:28:16] Sisterhood and female friendships.[00:31:14] Exploring non-binary identities.[00:39:04] Balance between home and work.[00:43:42] Healthy masculinity and femininity.[00:44:24] Healthy masculinity and femininity.[00:52:06] Creating beyond traditional boundaries.Follow Francesca:http://www.escoto.arthttp://www.instagram.com/escoto.arthttp://www.linkedin.com/in/francescaescotoFOLLOW MTG:mtgthepodcast.comfacebook.com/mtgthepodcastinstagram.com/mtgthepodcastCO-HOSTS IG: @octanedesigns / @bougienursebabe / @themeetcuteco

Welcome to a brand new episode of the ¿Quién Tú Eres? podcast, where we explore the conflict we often face between "professionalism" & being our authentic selves. This week's guest is Julia Mejia. Born in the Dominican Republic, Julia arrived in the neighborhood of Dorchester when she was five years old. Raised by a single mother who was undocumented for most of her childhood, she was forced at an early age to speak up on behalf of her mother and others who felt ignored by the very institutions that were supposed to serve them. As a proud graduate of the Boston Public Schools, she was the first in her family to graduate high school and college and the first to purchase her own home in Boston. Driven by a lifelong pursuit of justice and equity, she is proud to have created countless opportunities for others to step into their power and advocate for positive change. She created and led a civic engagement group focused on voter registration, is the founder of a nonprofit education network, and worked on national social justice campaigns as a producer for MTV. In this week's episode, I meet up with Boston's City Councilor Julia Mejia to discuss her journey towards politics. As a first-generation Dominican American child, she often found herself advocating for her community as she was translating for them. As an adult, she continued to advocate for her community as the first Latina reporter for MTV's News and Docs category. Julia joined politics as an experiment - she wanted to see if she could run and win and uplift her community. And she won by one vote! Check out all this and more in Julia's episode.
