The first two parter of this series brings Rose back home, we have the Slitheen, and a Pig in a Space suit is it all a bit too childish?
Say it with us now: it's not just Slitheen fart jokes. Aliens of London/World War Three is the Ecclestone-Piper powerhouse that firmly established how NuWho would grow beyond the old-school kind of Earth invasion. It would be smart, twisty, full of “real” fake media and political references. It would stuff the Prime Minister in a closet. And it would put the Doctor in new kinds of domestic jeopardy. In short, despite some slightly dodgy CGI choices, it still holds up, even 20 hours later. Oh wait, we accidentally recorded this review 20 years later. Time for a 9th Doctor classic!Sandwiched between The Doctor Dances and Bad Wolf, Boom Town is the story our Twitter followers voted for as the Series One story they'd most like us to make a commentary on! And who are we to disappoint?Picking up the story of Blon Fel-Fotch Passameer-Day Slitheen (or Margaret) who escaped the deadly missile hit on 10 Downing Street at the end of Aliens of London/ World War Three, is this just a simple throwaway 'filler' episode caught between two powerful giants, or a unique character piece on which pivots a number of themes that become far more significant as the Russell T Davies era progresses?Let's find out together! For the full interactive experience, queue up your copy of Boom Town and get ready to hit PLAY as you stream this episode of Who Corner to Corner!Support the show Subscribe to Who Corner to Corner on your podcast app to make sure you don't miss an episode! Nesta edição continuamos a nossa maratona de Doctor Who, agora sobre os episódios 4 e 5 da 1ª temporada: Aliens of London e World War Three.
In this episode, Shana and Daniel are joined by the wonderful, intelligent, and lovely Jessica from The Web of Queer! The three talk all about the Ninth Doctor story Aliens of London/World War Three, including the tragedy of farting aliens (who are also incredlbly body-positive), the loveliness of Harriet Jones, and the wonder of the Tyler family dynamic. All this and a proposal for a Doctor Who tribute band besides. Main Topic: Aliens of London/World War Three. Introducing Jessica from The Web of Queer. Podcest. A multi-part-question for Jessica. Shana likes the Slitheen. Jessica isn't opposed to them. The Slitheen are a family, not a race. Feeling bad for Jackie. The socioeconomics of the Tyler family. Triplicating the flammability. Good face in Doctor Who. Not bluffing. Worldbuilding. Shipping Nine/Rose. "Gay" as a perjorative. We cut Russell T. Davis a bit too much slack. Daniel is a bastard for asking for examples. Captain Jack wants to fuck everything. An extended riff on Torchwood. Toff. The Ninth Doctor's Empathy. Pointless UNIT. Harriet Jones: MP Flydale North. Talkin' about Mickey. The Ninth Doctor speaks from the perspective of Classic Series fans. The Bad Wolf arc. Marathoning not marinating. Integrating the arc into the episode. Mickey refuses to go onto the TARDIS. A puppy moment. No body-shaming among the Slitheen. Spielberg Who. Proposing a Doctor Who Cover Band. Wrapping up. Check out The Web of Queer! The Web of Queer discusses bisexuality and bi erasure in their Episode 14, as mentioned in this episode. You can also find Jessica's Twitter here. Find us on iTunes! Or Facebook! Aliens fake an alien landing ("Aliens of London" / "World War Three"), and The Doctor's oldest foes return ("Dalek"). One of these stories is downright awful due to all of the ill-conceived and poorly executed humor, horrible costumes and dated computer imagery, and the damn farting! While the other story features a Dalek slaughtering hundreds of people just for the hell of it. Also, Tom Deja gives his thoughts about Rose, Dan explains why he's not too keen on Doctor Who getting so close to the real world, and Mike drinks a beer.

TARDIS Tavern #17: Dalek Restroom Cutaway With a little help from our friends... Podcest is such a wonderful thing; That interconnection we all share as part of the Doctor Who Podcast Alliance. We were recently listening to our pals Steve & Sean's latest TARDIS Tavern podcast. Since its inception back in November '09, their program has been steadily growing, improving, & finding it's own place among the pantheon of WHO 'casts out there now. This Blue Guy thuroughly enjoyed their recent Dalek potty humor sketch & immeditately asked for permission to publish it here on the Guide to the Whoverse feed for all of you to enjoy should you partake. This is only a small excerpt however, the bulk of this episode is actually a half druken review of the Second Doctor's first story Power of the Daleks. Honestly it was, but a mere coinicdence that the 'Two WHO Drool' just happened to preselect reviewing this classic story right on the heels of the newest Dalek story Victory of the Daleks airing. Be sure to listen to the entire TARDIS Tavern Episode 17 The Victory of the Power of the Daleks which can be found here. Warning: This skit contains EXPLICIT language along with some crude humor, but honestly no more crude than that found in RTD's Aliens of London / World War Three. We'd really like to thank Steve & Sean again for allowing us to feature this clip on our feed. (Mostly) every week they hit up their locak WHO tavern & review a classic story while inbibing Pan-Galactic Gargle Blasters. Quite an interesting mix of conflicting interests if you ask us.
